aisha2:there is actually no way to avoid the pain and discomfort of pregnancy and childbirth. some women just have those to varying extents. the contractions that herald the beginning of true labour, are still painful until you get the epidural. after delivery, there is still the recovery time with attendant discomfort. Ceasarian also does not eliminate it. in addition, taking care of the baby is not beans. Not opinion, just fact. neither should all these be seen as negatives for a woman despite the fact that its not convenient and a lot of hard work. If you are priviledged to be able to have kids, remember there are many who are looking for children. 1 Like |

by ritual i dont mean juju ritual or anything like that, but ceremonies where a male is fully inducted into manhood -most times after a series of tests, training and education on manly qualities. |

do we have any? It may have been quite common in the olden days, but now there's virtually nothing, and a lot of men grow up without really knowing what manhood entails, ie what it means to be a man. They have bad role models who also perhaps dont know either. almost the only well known manhood initiation/rituals are among the Fulani, who practice a form of whipping as a way of proving manhood, ie that you are strong enough to protect your livestock, manage your home and take care of your family. For other tribes, their sole manhood initiation seems to be linked to earning money only. is this a wrong assessment? i have thought about this long and hard (no pun, thanks). 1 Like |

If your family is irresponsible or biased, do not involve them in your personal matters. However, if you have family members who are mature and responsible in their replies and assessment of a situation, then its ok to ask for advice or admonition once in a while. That is the essence of being older or having family, its not about competing everyday to see who has the most muscles or whose butt is the biggest. And btw, remember there is eavesdropping .
