“Something to remember,” the mayor said, holding up one finger. “Job you draw today is for three years. Then, Evaluation. Are you good at your job? Fine. You may keep it. Are you unsatisfactory? Is there a greater need elsewhere? You will be reassigned. It is extremely important,” he said, jabbing his finger at the class, “for all . . . work . . . of Ember . . . to be done".

“I need to see the generator,” Doon said. “I have . . . I have ideas about it.” He thrust his hands into his pockets. “So,” he said, “will you trade?” “Yes!” cried Lina. “Messenger is the job I want most!” And not a useless job at all, in her opinion. People couldn’t be expected to trudge halfway across the city every time they wanted to communicate with someone. Messengers connected everyone to everyone else. Anyway,
whether it was important or not, the job of messenger just happened to be perfect for Lina. She loved to run. She could run forever. And she loved exploring every nook and cranny of the city, which was what a messenger got to do.

The post above by @anonymous is absolutely
correct.

@ tpia, I remember when I flew into Nigeria on a visit
last year, I went through the Change of Name
sections of some newspapers out of intense
curiosity and I noticed that MOST Nigerian
marry from within their ethnic groups.

I zeroed in on Yoruba-Nigerians as one of
my case studies and realised that on average,
ONLY 1 in 10 Yoruba actually marry outside
their ethnic groups on average.

Most of the inter-ethnic marriges involved more
of Yoruba men getting married to women
from other ethnicities. From my observation
of the Change of Name pages, More of the Yoruba got married to Edo and Delta state
names. Also most of the Yoruba also
married from mainly Anioma area of Delta, and
to some extent, Akwa Ibom/Cross River or Rivers
state women.
yes, Yoruba males marry outside the tribe a lot.

vicadex07:
If the Yoruba is not careful, say like about 70 or more years to this time, the Igbos highly populated in many areas of Lagos like alaba and so on will claim to be indigenous members of those places cos many generations of their ancestors has spawned their. They already have Nze Ndigbo, a local King installed in those places
to accomplish such purpose.

That their is the current predicament of the indegenous Niger delta people. Theirs was able to occur rapidly within a century due to their geographical proximity to Igbo people. Today we know the end result.

The only disadvantage that might hinder the Lagos land grabbing is the geographical location of it in the South West. If not Lagos would have been taken over too due to proximity just like rivers state, and parts of Edo, Benue state and some other SS states.
seems you're still circling around your main grouse.

when you're ready to spill, let us know.
