Travel / Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by trav(m): 11:03am On May 14
Greetings everyone,

I could use some assistance, please. I'm in the process of applying for a tourist visa to France, and I've just created an account to begin my application. However, I'm encountering an issue where the page is in French, and despite attempting to switch to English using the dropdown menu, it's not working. Is anyone else experiencing this, and if so, how did you manage to resolve it?

Greetings to everyone

A few days I sent the message enclosed with regards to my wife's visa application. However, I am pleased to announce that I have collected our passports, which have been issued with visas accordingly . I would like to express my gratitude to all those who provided their suggestions, particularly @Cashmadam, @Olaide2, and @Thegamingorca. In the end, I opted to send an email along with copies of her Visa fee payment receipt and checklist. Our application was submitted on Thursday, June 01, and we received a notification for passport pick-up on Wednesday, June 14.

Dear House,

I kindly seek your urgent advice regarding a situation I am currently facing. I recently applied for a UK visitor visa for myself, my wife, and two children. The application was submitted as a family unit at the Ikeja office last week on Thursday. I applied for a 5-year visa for both myself and my wife, while opting for a 2-year visa for our children. We even opted for the flexi service.

Today, I received emails notifying me that my application and those of my children have arrived at the Decision Making Centre and are awaiting consideration. However, my wife received a different email stating that she applied in the wrong category. The email invites her to withdraw the application within five days, or else a decision will be made based on the information they currently have. This has left me extremely confused because we all applied for the Standard visitor visa category, and I personally completed and submitted all the applications, ensuring that the information was consistent across all forms and the document checklists.

An email to confirm her application withdrawal was provided, but the issue is perplexing because we applied together as a family for visitor visas. I am at a loss as to how a wrong category could be applicable to my wife. We are both unsure about what steps to take now. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Most likely a case of mistaken identity. They probably think your wife is someone else. Try and get a number to call. Explain the situation to whoever you talk to and hope you get good advise on next steps. Good luck!
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by trav(m): 11:03am On Jun 08, 2023
Thank you @Olaide2 for your response. I must admit that I am currently feeling a bit confused and uncertain. However, one thing I am absolutely certain about is that my wife did not apply under a different category. Not only did I personally complete and submit all the application forms, but I have all four copies of the application forms, visa fee payment receipts, and the documents checklist saved on my system. I have thoroughly reviewed and compared them, and every single document clearly indicates the visitor visa category. The only difference is that our visa fees are for a duration of five years, while the fees for our children's visas are for two years.

This situation is particularly frustrating because my wife has already completed her biometrics, and the email suggests that if she chooses to withdraw her application and reapply, she will be required to pay another visa fee of USD 873.

olaide2:
Am sure they dont want to refuse her thats why the mail.was sent am very sure a little oversight was done by you. Hubby had d same issue sumtime ago he was called cos he picked a wrong class of visa . Just withdraw and fill it again it will be sorted.

Thank you for your feedback

Thegamingorca:

File a complaint to explain her case with the receipt. Or seek clarification by replying visitvisa enquiries.

Or

Better to just wait, cos if the decision is not favourable for her on that ground alone then you can challenge it.

However, if all of you unfortunately don't make it for some other reasons, then fussing over it wouldn't have made any difference now, would it.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by trav(m): 9:35pm On Jun 07, 2023
Thank you for your response. I have thoroughly reviewed all the payment receipts multiple times, and they consistently indicate that the category chosen was Visitor Visa which is the same for all of us.

Visits.UKCustomerEnquiries@fcdo.gov.uk sent the mail

Thegamingorca:

Check the UKvi mail receipt sent to her mailbox if it is standard visitor visa she also paid for.

Then tender that as evidence for a possible oversight on... Wait oh! who sent her the mail? TLS?? Or visitsukcustomerenquiries??

Thank you again Cashmadam. I sincerely appreciate

Good morning. You need to fill an online form for each member of your family. Nothing like "joining" anybody together. You'll fill a form and pay for each person. Then get a date. As a family, you should apply together so ensure you get the same date for your biometric. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for your response Cashmadam. I sincerely do appreciate it.

Yes I know I will need to fill a separate application form each of my family member and pay for each. What I would like to know is if I will need to use separate email accounts for each member of my family during the application or I can use the same email account.

For example do I use a different email account each time I want to fill a form for any member of my family or can I just start a another application with the same email account after completing one application.

Thanks for your response again. Thanks to anyone else that also provides clarity on this

Good evening folks,

Thanks for all you do here.

Please, I'd like to know when one can join his family members together with the UK visa application. I have not applied for a UK visa in about nine years, and I noticed a lot has changed now that I'm trying to renew UK visas for my family and me. Our last UK visas expired about seven years ago.

So I'm applying for myself, my wife, and our children.

Thanks for the response

Hello All,

Please what's the best way for paying for UK visa fees at the present as fees are quoted in USD?
Do I need to use my USD card or can I still use my normal Naira debit card?

My last UK visa application was in 2012.

Thank for the response.

Good day folks,

Thanks to all here. My elder brother who is married to a Canadian citizen has been requested to bring in his passport. He had to reapply about two weeks ago after waiting for almost 10 months and no update on his last application. He will not be doing biometric as his biometric is still valid.
Please apart from the letter requesting his passport, and the letter of biometric validity, what else his he expected to go with and his he expected to book an appointment to submit the passport?

I'll really appreciate your guidance on this.

Thanks.

Who ever owns the container will not loose all. That's what insurance is for. Situations like this is why you cannot ship internationally without an insurance coverage.
On the other hand the container may have been throw overboard on the orders of the ships captain along with other containers of course. This is done to lighten the ship in a situation whereby the ship or lives are in jeopardy. In this case the Law of average will take effect.
This means that owners of every other container that were saved will pay towards compensating those that their containers were thrown overboard.

That's not a problem. Go ahead and complete her DS160 and book an appointment for her using the already issued visa fee reciept. The visa fee receipt will work for her irrespective of the passport Number as far as the name on the reciept is the same. I have used a visa fee reciept paid with my old passport to renew my visa.

Thank you. I appreciate.

Why will you and your Aunt ever think of passing any blame on the teller?

Please don't hassle someone unjustly for your Aunt's mistake and lack of attention to details.

Instead of looking for scapegoat, why not explore sending an email to the embassy in order to find actual solutions.

Thanks fkj950 for your suggestion but I think you can still make it without the insult. I knew there would be a solution though not sure exactly what it would be and that's why I posted it here.
I actually got the details of the story wrong and It is actually the tellers fault. She did give the teller her new passport but the teller used the old passport number which is directly below the new passport number and above the NIN number. For a lady of over 75 and believing the guy had done his job she left.
Anyways thanks for the suggestion to call the embassy.

Good day guys,
Please I need some advise here. My elderly aunt went to pay her US visa fee at GT Bank and mistaken gave the teller her old passport expiring today. Funnily (not funny though) She was just coming from the passport office where she had gone to pick up her new passport. The challenge now is the old passport expires today and the visa fee is tied to it. I don't know if I should blame the teller who should have advised her that the said passport expires in a few days and may not be used.
What do you advise we do as she wants to book her appointment at the Embassy. Thanks.
Business / Re: What Can You Do To Financially Benefit From The Outbreak Of The Corona Virus? by trav(m): 12:31pm On Mar 18, 2020
This is a very nice thread. I have been pondering on this same question for days now. Crises situation have always been a time that shifts happen. while so many will make losses, some are putting new creative ideas to work and smiling to the bank. I think there is going to be a major shift in global economics.
For example, there are so many finished products we import from China that can easily be produced here. I think the current situation is going to create opportunities for some of these things to begin being produced here locally and if we get it right even export to other countries.

More importantly, major companies around the world may begin to think of relocating or spreading their production sites and not just in China. The current crises with lowest casualties (Hopefully remain so) being in Africa may ultimately make Africa the production hub of the world. That is if Africa most especially Nigeria gets it right. The black man has been known to be very resilient and while not immune but has high resistance to a lot of sicknesses. This belief was the genesis of the transatlantic slave trade because the black man was seen as much more stronger and resilient than the Native Americans who were initially used as workers on sugar plantations in the Caribbeans.

I strongly believe that this is the continents' time to rise. That is if we get it right

Hey! Well the email is authentic.. but u have to send mails for record..you might be lucky to get a response but you have to send series of mails.. ok thing is, how urgent is your case? How long ago did you apply?Has your travel date passed? Do you need your passport for emergency? Because they respond to urgent cases but via hand written letter but you must have sent mails ..Ask VFS for withdrawal form.( I think they should have that)

Tahnks Mimi35,

Well the case is quite urgent for me.

I have actually gotten my passport back. Also for my wife and two kids. All with visa issued for a month and valid till September 15. However I have a third child and we applied for her a few days after ours. Reason being that she has a US passport and was meant to travel with that only to discover that her US passport was due to expire in less than a month and we could not get a close enough date at the US embassy for passport renewal. We thought we could use the passport like that because it will expire after we return but we discovered could not (France immigration law states that US passports must be valid for at least six months to permit entry to France). So we had to apply for a France visa with her Nigerian Passport. We made our own application on July 24, her application was August 02. Our visas are valid till September 15, 2019 and school resumes September 09. I was optimistic that I will get her passport back yesterday since it would have made it exactly 3 weeks.
I really want us to make the trip but we cant travel without her. I do not want to withdraw the passport but just make an appeal for quick return (With her visa of course)

well it’s a long shot but
First send an (several) email to them @visas.lagos-fslt@diplomatie.gouv.fr
State ur name.. passport number..tracking number.. intended date of travel and reasons for withdrawal..
then call VFS tell them you want to withdraw I think they have a form For this ,not so sure but you can call them on ‭0815 018 8800‬ or email them .
if you are free you can submit a hand written letter requesting for the withdrawal of your passport and submit at the embassy
Good luck

Hello Mimi35,

Please how authentic is this email address. I mean have you used it before and did you get a response from the France embassy? I have an urgent issue I need to sort out and I dont think VFS will be able to assist.
Thanks for your response

There are loads of mentally deranged people on this platform. A clear case is this person

gypsey:
Maybe she lost the first 2 children because she couldn't care for then Financially and Emotionally. Now, She have Another 3 children, How is she going to care for these 3 finanacially? Poor people having Too many children they can not take care of Financially and otherwise.

Maybe it was a Good thing the first 2 were kidnapped. If she looked After them Very well they wouldn't have been kidnapped. The kidnappers will probarbly come back to kidnapp these 3 Again.

And some Goons are here thanking A noneexistence Useless God. why did this God not save the other 2 children from the kidnappers? And will this Bloody God provide her with Food and money to care for these 3 children?

Hello House,
Please I need some advice as I am a bit confused. My son who is nine was refused a B1/B2 visa today because of a reason I find very hard to believe. The boy was going for an excursion with his school and we had paid all fees.
To start with, we got our first US visa in 2013 and traveled in 2014 for summer and my wife also gave birth there (Mind you we contacted the embassy about our plan to birth there and got a positive response). We successfully renewed our visa via drop box in 2016 and it expired November 2018 but unfortunately we were unable to travel with it because of some family issues and other factors. I decided to do a drop box for my son in December 2018 towards his trip in March but his passport was returned after 30 days and requested to schedule an appointment (221g). We went for the interview today and all was going well until the consular asked if we had a zero balance for the birth in US. I gave her the zero balance document issued by the hospital and after a few minutes she said he does not qualify for the visa and that what we paid for birthing was far below the average in Arizona where we had our baby. The hospital we used was MIHS and we paid full in cash. I tried to make her understand that that was the package and what we were billed and that we had also renewed our visa after the birth process but she insisted he does not qualified.
The refusal shook me as it is the first (And hopefully last) I will ever experience. My worry is what the next step to take is. Obviously he can’t make the trip again as the group leaves Nigeria by third week of March. However I need some advice on what to do next. My son no longer qualifies for drop box but I, wifey and daughter still do.
I want to know
1. Do we apply for our own visa renewal via drop box and if successful, then we schedule a new interview for him?
2. Do we ignore the drop box and all schedule an interview together?
3. Do we just forget applying for the US for now while visiting other countries? We have good travel history.

I will appreciate all objective suggestions

Hello VO,
I have a little dilemma and I need your advise. I renewed my US visa along with my wife and two kids via dropbox in November 2016. We had initially planned to travel in December of 2016 but had to move it to February 2017. Around same February we had an opportunity to buy a house which was a good deal for us.
Since then my wife and I have been paying back funds loaned to support our house purchase and there as not been any extras left for things like travel.
My challenge now is that the visas will expire this year and I still don't have a planned travel date or the money. I want to know if I should call the embassy to cancel the visa as I want to avoid any issues whenever we are ready to apply again.
Thanks for your advise.
