Hello House, Please I need some advice as I am a bit confused. My son who is nine was refused a B1/B2 visa today because of a reason I find very hard to believe. The boy was going for an excursion with his school and we had paid all fees. To start with, we got our first US visa in 2013 and traveled in 2014 for summer and my wife also gave birth there (Mind you we contacted the embassy about our plan to birth there and got a positive response). We successfully renewed our visa via drop box in 2016 and it expired November 2018 but unfortunately we were unable to travel with it because of some family issues and other factors. I decided to do a drop box for my son in December 2018 towards his trip in March but his passport was returned after 30 days and requested to schedule an appointment (221g). We went for the interview today and all was going well until the consular asked if we had a zero balance for the birth in US. I gave her the zero balance document issued by the hospital and after a few minutes she said he does not qualify for the visa and that what we paid for birthing was far below the average in Arizona where we had our baby. The hospital we used was MIHS and we paid full in cash. I tried to make her understand that that was the package and what we were billed and that we had also renewed our visa after the birth process but she insisted he does not qualified. The refusal shook me as it is the first (And hopefully last) I will ever experience. My worry is what the next step to take is. Obviously he can’t make the trip again as the group leaves Nigeria by third week of March. However I need some advice on what to do next. My son no longer qualifies for drop box but I, wifey and daughter still do. I want to know 1. Do we apply for our own visa renewal via drop box and if successful, then we schedule a new interview for him? 2. Do we ignore the drop box and all schedule an interview together? 3. Do we just forget applying for the US for now while visiting other countries? We have good travel history. I will appreciate all objective suggestions |

Hello VO, I have a little dilemma and I need your advise. I renewed my US visa along with my wife and two kids via dropbox in November 2016. We had initially planned to travel in December of 2016 but had to move it to February 2017. Around same February we had an opportunity to buy a house which was a good deal for us. Since then my wife and I have been paying back funds loaned to support our house purchase and there as not been any extras left for things like travel. My challenge now is that the visas will expire this year and I still don't have a planned travel date or the money. I want to know if I should call the embassy to cancel the visa as I want to avoid any issues whenever we are ready to apply again. Thanks for your advise. |

Please I need land to lease within Ajah and Epe for a period of at least a year. I need it for experimental agricultural purpose. Also I will be willing to vacate whenever the owner desires to use the land with at least a month's notice. If you own a plot or more that you can lease out withing this axis ( between Ajah and Epe) or you know someone who does and is willing to lease out, please contact me via text, call or WhatsApp on 08156958117. Thanks |

Hello AbujaNiv, Thanks for the good work you are doing. I am trying to complete the application form for my mum who is aged and in another state. The passport photos that has been sent to me have continuously been rejected for picture quality. I want to know if she can still bring along physical passport photos for her interview or it must strictly be uploaded on the form during the application process. Thanks for your response. |

I do not see any change in a public office holder's child going to a public school. But I do see change when that public office holder develops and equips the public school. If the government invests in and equip public schools, there will be no need for any public relations stunt about enrolling a public servants child in a public school. In developed countries where public schools are well equipped, public servants children go to public schools and there is no public relations deal about it. |
tyosho:@tyosho Thanks for your response though I do apologize for acknowledging quite late. I have been off nairaland for some days now. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I will be doing a lot of the work on behalf of my wife who has a much better nomination opportunity than I but very engaged family wise so please permit me to seek your help where I feel stuck. Oga bellong and other gurus... I hail o |
bellong:Great Then. I look forward to consulting with you and other gurus as we move forward. Thanks |

bellong:@Bellong Thanks for the birthday greeting. I really appreciate your response and advise. I did International Relations in OAU with Masters in Transport Planning in Unilag but I have been running my own business for about 8 years now |
mamajaz:@Mamajaz. I'll take that as a compliment on her behalf. Thanks |
tyosho:Thanks to all the gurus for the good work you are all doing. Special gbosa to oga Bellong for the thread. I have studied from page one but I have some issues I will need help with. @Tyosho… Congrats on your progress thus far. I will appreciate your input and guidance on this as I know you are an accountant. My wife is a chartered accountant and will be primary applicant as I believe she has a better chance than I. She is nursing presently so I’ll have to do lots of the legwork. She turns 32 years tomorrow. Graduated first class B.sc Accounting in 2004. ICAN Chartered also in 2004. She has about 10 years working experience post NYSC as an auditor with a major auditing firm and presently financial analyst / accountant with an investment bank. We plan to nominate either external auditor or management accountant on subclass 189 and 190. The issues I need some clarification on are 1. She just became a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) this august and we are thinking of including it as part of her qualifications but I don’t know if it will affect her years of working experience. 2. Her international passports and all her qualifications are in her maiden name (including her recent CFA as you need international passport for identification). We could not comprehend the stress of going to Abuja to do that. As she will be including me and our three children in her application, how will this affect us and what should be done? She is not due for a passport renewal till July 2017. I will also appreciate the contributions of other gurus too. Thanks |
youngest85:I wont be surprised if you don't know Fela. |
Hello Abujaniv. Thank you for the good work your are doing. Please allow me to take advantage of this forum to clear an issue bothering my mind. Myself, my wife and our 2 kids were issued B1/B2 visas in February 2013 with the plan of travelling for holidays. However just before we were to travel, we lost two very close family members and due to the emotional effect we had to suspend every holiday travel plan for that year (We have always traveled overseas for summer but never been to the US as at then). By December of the same year 2013, my wife discovered that she was pregnant and we decided to plan our trip towards her maternity leave and to use the visas for birth purpose/holiday in the US. I sent a mail to the US embassy notifying them of our change of travel plan and got a generic response. We traveled in July 2014 to give birth and paid every hospital and medical bill. I know you do not deal with specifics but I will appreciate your response on whether we have or have not broken any rule since we were unable to use the visas for the initial purpose. Most especially now that I want to renew our visas via dropbox. Thank you for your response |
It is obvious you are so eager to defend the OPs action you do not even bother to understand what I have written nor do you understand what YOU have written. It will be good if you can teach the rest of us how self confidence is lost in a child since you seem to know a lot about it. Anyways what I wrote is "toying with their self confidence". And if you have done a thorough research on child confidence as you claim to know, then you will understand that it starts from somewhere and such actions over time will ultimately damage their self confidence and create undue fear in little children most especially children under the age of five who are yet to fully comprehend their actions. Olumyco: |
@poster. Let me reiterate what others have already mentioned. You have no right under any circumstances to flog any body's child talk-less of toddlers. Children are like sponges they soak in whatever they see and will ultimately display it. Your flogging those children is only making the situation worse because not only do they not understand what they were doing but you are also toying with their self confidence. There are loads of business you can operate before you gain admission or go back to school like you have mentioned. Running a creche is NOT one of those businesses. This is a business that deals with the most delicate members of society and a lot of training and licensing is required. Obviously you do not possess either of these neither do you have the right temperament to run a creche. I will appeal that you close down your creche immediately and seek the required capacity before reopening it. Do not let the comments of those supporting your actions deceive you. What you have done if found out and taken up can land you in jail if you are not aware. It is called child abuse. |
I am not a supporter of Buhari or APC but I must give the President thumbs up for this policy. Hopefully it will be well implemented. I was once an exporter of wood and charcoal and the profit is good but I decided to stop the business when I visited a number of forests within Ondo, Ekiti and Oyo states and saw the level deforestation going on there. I felt had no moral right to criticize anybody as I saw myself as one of Nigeria's problems. One question I kept asking myself over a period of time is why the Europeans that buy the charcoal never cut down their own trees which they have in abundance for their chimneys and barbeques but yet demand so much of it from us. The truth is that they are preserving their own environment and nature. And when they do cut down they plant back and use that wood for making products which they export. We need to do the same too. I have prayed a silent prayer for this move for a long time and I am very happy that prayer has been answered. Hip Hip Hurray to the President and like someone wrote earlier "If you cant save the economy, save the environment". ZACHIE: |
Actually that is the strategy and why Iberia is quite affordable. BA and Iberia are owned by the same company International Airlines Group. So if you cant afford to fly BA, you can fly Iberia. Whichever way the company still makes money. For those saying it was good that Iberia left I hope you don't plan to fly in the next few years because you should be ready to pay much more. I have flown BA a couple of times but never flew Iberia but one thing I know is that that that airline makes it affordable for a lot of people to travel. Its a capitalist world and airlines like other investors are here not only to offer services but to make profit and they have the right to repatriate that profit after tax and not to help develop your country. That is the job of your government. Don't you send money back home to folks for upkeep and to invest locally after slaving abroad. When you send every airline packing, how will you you get your goods that you have ordered online or how will small business owners export their locally made goods. And maybe when you decide to travel you will choose from the option of Arik leaving you stranded at the airport while it looks for aviation fuel or going by boat through the Mediterranean. Nnemuka: |
is that all you have? You couldn't even contribute A reasonable Arguiment to counter mine.
