Family › Re: Should Parents/pastors Be Allowed To Cancel A Wedding? by Treetop20(m): 3:01am On Jan 16, 2009 |
earTHMama: Can his mom stop them legally at the registry this time because am tired of Naija law? no she cannot!**osisi: and he should impregnate the girl immediately with twin boys that way her tap root is deep in that family If the mother likes she can go jump into the lagos lagoon yes, get her pregnant immediately she put up a fuss about the marriage. that would have shut her up |

earTHMama: She did all she could to stop her son from marrying the girl but when she failed, she threatened to stop the wedding and succeeded even though the grooms family are not members of Christ Embassy. How the church honored their request beats me. Shouldn't the church be sued by the bride? so what is going to happen now? are they going to the registry then? |

Busy_body: Yeah, and i bet they have to schedule the lady to get pregnant at the time that it would be convenient for grandma, to have time to come and look after the baby, lol you lot are pushing it now |

earTHMama: The wedding in discussion was paid for completely by the groom and not his family yet his mother made sure they spoilt his happiest day in life . some mothers are really horrible |

Busy_body: I will put my foot down and either tell them there would be no wedding or I would elope. I would not tolerate that type of family pressure, yes they are the ones coughing up the money especially if you are getting married in Naija, but their should be a limit na I have heard too much stories of squabbling parents when it comes to wedding, due to disagreement with location, religion, etc
Things like this shouldn't happen in this generation it is very easy for a woman to do this much harder for a man |

Busy_body: I wouldn't allow my parents or my pastor to cancel my wedding, are they on crack? Am I a kid? Geez, let me go ahead and make a mistake, they are there to support me and pick up the pieces if I fall
A friend of mine wanted to get married in December in Nigeria, the grooms parents objected on the ground that friends would not be around and that they should change the wedding date to August The brides parent on the other hand said they worked all year round and could only be available in December
She was always on the phone to me in tears from January till August, till the parents compromised and the wedding was eventually held in New York If that was me, I would have gone to Hollywood to get married by Elvis Presley in a shotgun wedding just to spite them
Nigerian parents meddle too much IMHO sounds easy but family pressure is a terrible thing you never know until you find yourself there |
