NiyiOmoIyunade: 14v and 14.39v. Did you mean 12v at bolded? And yes your illustration is apt as usual. The way i see it is this: Bulk- constant voltage supplied with max current drawn Absorb- constant voltage reached, max current steadily dropping. Float - constant voltage reached, max current reduced to a set tail current value. So voltage dropped to set value and current trickled in to keep things nice and full. Float light on scc de give orgasm ehn.. IYKYK |

nonoski: Thank you very much
Coughing out N1.4m for batteries is not funny at all.
I double checked the set voltages so over charging is not the issue.
The charge controller is premium brand Victron and the inverter is Felicity.
I have used HA02 battery balancers for years without issues.
The 3 units of 4 batteries are connected to a Busbar so the Lenght of the wire (35mm²) are of the same Lenght.
I have made up my mind to change the batteries. Why not just invest in liFePo batteries?... I'm just saying tho. It ticks the safety box that you fear. |

justcallmenuel: It’s 1kva sir, forget the 900watt written on the carton. Why tell him to forget rather than explain to him the meaning? To the guy who asked a question. Most generators and inverters aswell are rated in VA and watts. The watts is d actualy usable power from the machine while the VA is the apparent power available. Ideally the VA multiplied by a power factor (0.8 and above for good products) gives your the watts of the machine. And the watts is what you actually use, since your loads are usually rated in watts as well..... So in this instance,if you load this inverter above 900watts it would go into overload mode. So pls note the watts value, if you are particular about specs and actual power values of a product. Cheers. |

RCDIY: Keeping weight down is a challenge but polystyrene takes care of that nicely. Apart from unavailability, Balsa planes take lots of time to build and do not survive crashes well.
Foamies are foamies. You can bash it all you want and glue it back quickly after a crash.
There's a company close to my location that deals in polystyrene. I get them nicely pre-cut.
But if you're around Lagos, a friend gets his from one market.
What's your exact location? I'm in lagos... |

ceaser: Please note that the screen display can not be switched off, at least that's with the one I have. This picture seems to show an improved new model (can't be so sure but the switch on this is different from that in mine).
Also I found out that generally, inverters with in-built AC charger tend to have higher no-load consumption hence the reason I retired it for one with no AC charger. I didn't really test the consumption but I took that "fact" of higher no-load consumption as a fact.
This inverter has in-built voltage stabilizer as well, so I guess that will further contribute to no-load consumption.
Another thing noteworthy in this inverter is the fact that when the charging voltage is low to around 180v to around 196v (which is very common with NEPA supply) and you have appliances plugged into it, the voltage stabilizer switches the battery charging off and shunts the voltage directly to power the appliance, hence battery charging suffers. But if appliances aren't plugged in during this period, the battery is charged.
If voltage input is adequate, charging is quite fast (I think the in-built charger is 20A) and it is able to power appliances at the same time.
I hated that problem so I bought an external charger to charge my batteries. Thanks for these intelligent observations... |

ceaser: I actually have one that I have retired. Very good product like that. Used for a year. 12v "BTS" PSW with AC charger with 20% 50% selectable DoD. But it's 750kva so I'm not too sure if it will handle your load. I believe the highest KVA with 12v in that product line up is 1.2kva. Higher KVA come at 24v nominal. It was bought off of Konga. I'll see if I can retrieve the link. Pls can i get the link? Or urs if you don't mind giving it out. |

Topmost11: 95mm cable? I thought biggest cable is 16mm. Look, you are taking this thing the long arduous route. That app is just a program so it is giving u results based on your inputed values. That 95mm cable shoud let u knw using a pwm CC for ur design is highly inefficient. As earlier advised, manage your present harvest or re arrange ur modules and use an MPPT CC. That's all. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Trippledots(m): 8:28pm On Jan 03, 2020 |
Saipro: I believe one won't really describe it as a design flaw. Literally all Chinese CC have that problem (I wouldn't know of Fangpusun clones of Outback and Victron). Of the common CC, it would appear Victron, Midnite and Outback have found ways to mitigate that problem. My 30amps fangpusun victron clone actually survived a near similar error. It was in full operation and i was fiddling with it. I disconnected the battery erroneously, mind you i wanted to disconnect the pv. Don't know why i made such mistake. Surprisingly the cc just chilled off without any issues. I later disconnected the pv first before re introducing the battery connection though. Didn't want to test my village people too much. |
