The Okerenkoko I know is a village, the 13billion paid for such land made no impact to lives of the people of the community.
the Niger Delta people should be eager to have such massive development project sited in the state
why sell a Plot for such outrageous amount in the first place or something that would benefit your place.
the entire pay ended in one man's pocket.

I doubt this flawed assertion even though the take-off of the project is important in improving the economic situation of Nigeria and the host community.

Just as lack of gainful employment is not a tenable excuse for engaging in armed robbery or prostitution, the excuse given for ND youths engaging in militancy can not fly.

Sorry to say it, the ND youths (about 80%) are lazy by nature and they're always after easy/quick money.

Offer them employment opportunities and they will sell their slots to Yorubas and Igbos living within them.

Solution to that region's problems must start with massive re-orientation of the youths and de-emphasizing of the "get rich quick or die trying" mentality they have.

I know what I'm talking because I lived in Delta and Rivers states for over nine years.

If I got the information correctly, the bulk of the funds for the clean-up is not meant to come from FG but from the polluters. FG has just flagged off the program, definitely perhaps when Buhari is back or when work implementation of the budget really kicks off, FG will source for their own part of the funds. So why the hullabaloo from Shell? Why the hurry? Something is def wrong somewhere.

This clean-up remains one of the biggest sham these people will ever shore up, it's a pity that Jonathan didn't know how to do fakes not being a politician himself, he was a perfectionist who would want all the details to be taken care of before he acts. This was a project he could have just gone to kickstart with even 1 million naira and if work stops you explain to every one how it is a long term project and you are doing some work in the background until The end of your tenure. The APC understands it and will leverage on that to ride on people's gullibility.

The question I will ask, the clean-up is projected to cost about 1 billion USD, the JV partners will provide say 450million USD and the FG or NNPC has to provide 550 million USD, what plans has the government put in place for funding this sum, rather than deposit 10million usd as a take off sum? When is the next tranche of payments coming in? what's the government's strategy to get the work ongoing when it starts? What is the budget of ministry of environment? What provision is in the budget for this exercise ? It's not enough for the minister to say lack of funding will not stop the exercise knowing fully well there is no plan in place to ensure a continuous clean-up exercise thereby making it a rolling wave project.

Anyways those who will keep falling for propaganda can continue, in this Nigeria I smh for the largely ignorant population that can swallow any news hooks lines and sinkers without doing a critical analysis of the said news

Founder of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Dr. Frederick Fasehun has averred that Nigeria is presently having serious economic challenges because of President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice of a “mosquito economic team” in neglect of those who can advise him on how to run the economy.

Speaking on Wednesday in an interview with the Independent, Fasehun, who is the National Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, said the president has done nothing in his first year in office, adding that the President is left with just three more years to either change those misadvising him or bring in fresh experts.

“Four years in the life of a country is a short time. I am appealing to every Nigerian not to breach the peace of the country. Out of the four years of Buhari’s tenure, he has about three years more, let us give him time and see what he would do right or wrong. So far, I have not seen what he has done right, but he has three years more to prove himself whether to change those who are misadvising him or to bring in fresh experts.

“I happen to know that one of the writers of economic channel that the present government should keep is Pat Utomi. Nigerians know that Utomi is a guru in all aspect of the economy. Unfortunately, when Buhari was compiling his cabinet, he left out the man who was a torch light to the administration.

“Should Utomi be left out in the economic team? Should people like Olu Falae, Oby Ezekwesili and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a natural team for the president be ignored? Unfortunately, he chose to go for a mosquito economic team and that is why we are having the problem we are facing today.

“The economy should not be a partisan thing; it is supposed to be a natural one. Let the good people of this country like the Balarabe Musas the Ciromas and the Umars continue to advise the government on the right path to go. I don’t want anybody to do anything that would disrupt the peace of the country but give the President the remaining time and see what he would do,” he said.
