Sweetlemon:Yes it has to come from the polluters. Now one polluter said he is and has been ready with his own fund but that the FG does not have a blueprint(Synonyms of blueprint are: plan, design, draft, diagram, drawing, scale drawing, outline, sketch, pattern, map, layout, representation and technical drawing). SPDC is now saying that the FG just went to do a show of flag off without a plan and schedule on how to start up the process. When you fail to plan you as well plan to fail. |
A monkey has caused a countrywide power outage in the Kenya, a spokesperson of national electricity provider KenGen said Wednesday. The monkey jumped onto the roof of the Gitaru power station in the capital, Nairobi, on Tuesday, fell onto a transformer and tripped it, said spokeswoman Zebby Sambu. “The resulting blackout caused power outages across Kenya for several hours, since the plant generates about 80 per cent of the country’s electricity. “The monkey was alive and had been handed over to the Kenyan Wildlife Service,” said Sambu. Founder of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Dr. Frederick Fasehun has averred that Nigeria is presently having serious economic challenges because of President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice of a “mosquito economic team” in neglect of those who can advise him on how to run the economy.http://dailypost.ng/2016/06/01/buhari-neglected-utomi-falae-ezekwesili-for-mosquito-economic-team-opc-founder-fasheun/

Niger Delta militants last night launched a fresh attack on Chevron’s trunk pipeline used in conveying crude oil for export. The trunk pipeline is located at Abiteye in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. According to Thisday, the militants arrived the spot at about 10pm last night in two boats before launching the attack. The report added that security operatives in the area did not put up any resistance to the attack. Speaking with the newspaper, Chevron Nigeria’s General Manager in charge of Policy, Government and Public Affairs, PGPA, Mr. Deji Haastrup said the company would not respond to the attack. “We are not making any comments at this time,” Haastrup said. Last night’s attack on the company’s oil installation by militants made it the third in less than a month. http://dailypost.ng/2016/05/27/niger-delta-militants-bomb-chevrons-pipeline-again-in-warri/? |

According to reputable Samsung blog SamMobile, the South Korean manufacturer is planning on releasing five new flagship phones next year. SHARE GO TO Some of the rumoured upcoming devices aren't too surprising. Like usual, Samsung will be updating the Galaxy S series, with the S8 and S8 Edge. They'll also be bringing out the Galaxy Note 7 and Note 7 Edge, follow-ups to the forthcoming Note 6. Most interesting, however, is what SamMobile calls the Galaxy X - a revolutionary foldable smartphone, which can expand to be used as a tablet. Samsung may have had a big year with the launch of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but their ambitions for 2017 are even grander. The S7 Edge already has a curved screen, but the Galaxy X would take things further. The phone has been in development for a while, under the codename 'Project Valley', and leaks have so far suggested that it will look like a regular smartphone when folded, but will double in size when opened. Releasing the long-awaited foldable phone next year would make sense. Smartphone sales are falling for most major manufacturers, and each new device seems to be more similar than different to its predecessor. Making such a radically different phone would put Samsung ahead of the pack, potentially boosting their sales. Samsung doesn't comment on rumours, so there's no news on the release dates or prices of these futuristic phones. Based on past launch schedules, however, you can expect the S8 and S8 Edge to release in early Spring, with the Note and Galaxy X devices potentially coming out in the second half of the year. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/technology/samsung-galaxy-x-folding-smartphone-rumoured-for-release-in-2017-34723578.html |
Nigeria's military has reported rescuing a second "Chibok girl" in a forest battle with Islamic extremists, but a community leader said she is not on the list of students missing after the 2014 mass abduction by Boko Haram. Army spokesman Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said soldiers freed the girl after a battle in north-eastern Sambisa Forest in which they liberated 97 women and children and killed 35 extremists. He said she is 157 on a list of 218 girls seized more than two years ago from a boarding school, but Chibok community leader Pogu Bitrus said number 157 has a different name. The list has two other young women sharing the surname given by the military, and the rescued girl may have been visiting older sisters at the school on the night of the kidnapping, said Mr Bitrus. The first Chibok teenager to be found was discovered with a four-month-old baby by hunters on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest on Tuesday. On Thursday, Amina Ali Nkeki, 19, was flown to Abuja to meet President Muhammadu Buhari. Parents of the kidnapped girls, the Bring Back Our Girls movement and aid workers have criticised the Nigerian government and military for their handling of the development, with Refugees International claiming her escape is being politicised and that she should not be paraded in public but getting urgent medical care for sexual abuse and psycho-social counselling. Ms Nkeki has revealed that a few of the girls died in captivity but most remain under heavy guard in the forest, according to family doctor Idriss Danladi. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/world-news/rescued-nigerian-girl-not-on-list-of-missing-chibok-students-34731834.html? |

THE five pipeline surveillance workers seized by the Joint Task Force, JTF, in the Niger Delta, last Friday, in connection with the bombing a Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, pipeline at Makaraba community, Gbaramatu clan, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, have been released. A security source told Vanguard that they released them on Wednesday evening. Released were Samuel Emiko and Alfred Timedi, ( Itsekiri) and Isaac Edinde, Henry Arogboritse and Kelvin Mordi (Ijaw), arrested by soldiers while on surveillance duty for a contractor to Chevron. Ijaw leader, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, who is among the leaders that raised dust over the arrest confirmed to Vanguard, “Yes, I am aware that they released them on Wednesday night, I want to thank you people in the media for crying out for us.” “The released workers were asked to report next Wednesday,” a security source, who also confirmed their release, told our reporter. He said: “The 19th Battalion, Nigerian Army, Koko, handed them over to the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, from where they moved them to Bayelsa State and released them on Wednesday.” To avoid backlash against the company following a 72-hour ultimatum by its seven Gbaramatu-Ijaw host communities, top officials of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, which facilitated their freedom, met with their families, Wednesday, in Warri, and assured them that the company was handling the matter. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/5-workers-seized-jtf-pipeline-bombing-released/? |

An Abuja-based medical doctor, Chibuzor Eze, has reportedly threatened to divorce his wife over her addiction to popular foreign soap opera, Telemundo and the Zeeworld channel. According to Vanguard, Eze, a pediatrician who works with one of the government hospitals in Abuja, said he had informed his wife, Dorothy, a week ago that her obsession to the popular soaps was interfering with her marital life. Eze explained that apart from having to buy food from restaurants because his wife literally forgets to prepare food after fixing her gaze on the television, he is left to tend to some house chores. He allegedly threatened to divorce his wife soon if she does not change and concentrate on her wifely duties. Eze was quoted to have said, “I will divorce my wife if she doesn’t stop with this Zeeworld and Telemundo obsession. “On Tuesday, she forgot to pick our 10-year-old daughter from school because she was watching her shows. “If these careless acts continue, I will be forced to leave her, because I won’t appreciate coming home to a burnt down house one day. “I told her last week that I was fed up with how her obsession with these channels was making her to neglect her duty as a wife and mother, yet she keeps watching these shows when she’s supposed to be partaking in more important things like taking care of the children and cooking reasonable food for us. “I bought food from restaurants four times last week, as my wife had either forgotten to prepare food for the family or burnt the food she was preparing because she was watching Zeeworld and Telemundo. “I came home to an empty pot or burnt food and this is unacceptable.’’ he said. “Tell me, is this not enough to sue for divorce. “As a doctor, I have a very hectic job and should come home to a tasty hot meal,” he reportedly said. http://dailypost.ng/2016/05/18/my-wife-is-obsessed-with-telemundo-zeeworld-abuja-based-doctor-allegedly-threatens-divorce/? |

Darkness looms across the country as the total amount of power available to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to distribute to homes and offices across Nigeria has dropped to 1,400 megawatts, MW, as at 12 midnight, Tuesday 17th, May, 2016. This was disclosed yesterday by the System Operation/ Market Operation Department of the TCN in a statement issued in Abuja by its Assistant General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Clement Ezeolisah. Ezeolisah explained that the drop in the electricity generation into the national grid was as a result of operational challenges experienced by gas power generation companies in the country. He further blamed the situation on constraints in the thermal power stations which have prevented the generators from producing at optimal levels. Ezeolisah expressed the regret of TCN over the attendant inconvenience the low power generation has caused homes and businesses in the country, stressing that, “it is noteworthy to report that all stakeholders are working assiduously to achieve improvements in the power supply deliverables. The attendant inconvenience as a result of low power generation is regretted.” While the statement was silent on the nature of these challenges that caused the load shedding, it may not be unconnected with the dip in gas supply to the plants. Key pipelines in the Niger Delta conveying gas to power plants in the south have been vandalised and are undergoing repairs which the government said will be completed within the last days of this month. http://dailypost.ng/2016/05/18/nationwide-darkness-looms-as-electricity-supply-drops-to-1400mw/? |
