A senior government official told AFP news agency that Siddique would be removed but he did not comment whether it was linked to demand by the Islamists. "The decision has been taken to remove him from the Cabinet," the official from the Prime Minister's Office said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The Daily Star also confirmed the sacking in its report published on its website. He also criticised the non-political Islamic group, Tablighi Jamaat, millions of whose followers congregate outside the Bangladeshi capital each year in what authorities called the second largest Muslim gathering after the Hajj. He said the around two million people who gathered "don't do any work except halting traffic movement throughout the country," Siddique said. There was no comment from the Tablighi Jamaat.

You seem not to get it, you always use the word 'culture' to sanction immorality and barbarism. If a culture is against common-sense and civility, it should be discarded.

I have problems with some part of Igbo culture (where I come from) that has to do with movement restriction during a festival period. All women and some men (who do not belong to ekpe or obong cult) are meant to stay indoor during the festival. This restrictions was later challenged by the christian community hence the restrictions was stopped.

Islam and arab culture go hand-in-hand. 90% of hadith was based on the life of mohammed vis-a-vis arabian culture. If arabia culture permits a 54 year old man sleeping with a 9 yrear old girl, that does not make it cool just because islamic prophet did it. It is child abuse, either then or now. Stealing, raping, murder etc are still bad either then or now.

Culture does not mean we should no longer be reasonable. In Igbo culture at a time, twins are considered a taboo and are killed as soon as they are born, but with at this 21st century, that practice is no longer applicable or acceptable.

The average body mass of a human, say 1400yrs ago, is still quite the same. A girl from a rich home with better nutrition will obviosly has a better body structure than a girl from a poor home. Besides, the child's growth can equally be a product of hereditory from either parents.

What im saying is this, a girl of 6yrs old remains a girl biologically, emotionally and psychologically. She can never be emotionally and psychologically attached to a man. Aisha at 6 can never be emotionally attached to mohammed, she can never know when a man comes to her for her hand in marriage. She can never decide whether she loves mohammed or not.
