LP had never been an Ibo party. PDP was Ibo party. When Obi departed PDP bunch of yanmirins followed, and flooded LP. They basically pushed non-ibos in the party to the side and put Obi in a cocoon of ibo circle.

The people that were members in LP before Obi decamped struggled hard to be recognized. Many left in frustration. Those that stayed hoped to manage and control their own jurisdiction. But found out even their own control is being contested by Ibos. For instance, ibos want to chair the LP party in Gombe, in Yola, in Bauchi, in Lagos, in Sokoto, everywhere. They are preparing for complete takeover if and when Obi wins.
