Education › Oluwatuyi Olowoyeye Graduates With 5.0 CGPA From Hungarian University by trutharena(op): 5:23pm On Aug 17, 2021
A Nigerian, Oluwatuyi Olowoyeye, has graduated from the University of Debrecen in Hungary with a perfect GPA of 5.0 in his just concluded Masters Program.

The proud graduate shared this on his LinkedIn profile as he detailed his journey from his first degree to his future education plan.

He said, “As an undergraduate, I was just busy chasing after academics. In the end, I didn’t even finish with the first class.”

According to him, he was just focused on academics and not on other personal development skills but that changed as he moved to further his education.

Olowoyeye said, “Fast forward to my master’s program, both the one I just finished here and the one I didn’t complete back at home before I landed a fully-funded scholarship to study here in Hungary. I can say I didn’t waste any opportunity that crossed my path, I was also intentional about acquiring skills.

“I graduated from the prestigious University of Debrecen with a perfect GPA of 5.0, capped with special honors.

“This time around, I’d many more things I took up as a challenge, accepted volunteering roles, embraced the opportunities to skill-up anywhere at any time, dared two major competitions and my team was a finalist in one of them, I offered to help people for free (this one didn’t leave me the same), above all, I took destiny very seriously.”

Olowoyeye also revealed that he would continue to further his education as he is set to “delve into another phase of my academic endeavor at Iowa State University.”

What’s tribal war in highlighting the name of Ibo drug woman?

When a tribe represent almost 99% of drug traffickers caught abroad then it’s safe to shame them by their name just like we are shaming the Fulanis with the activities of the terrorist Fulani herdsmen.

If Nairaland rule permits, I don’t wish to continue to use Nigerian as the Topic. We should rather start calling them by their names to save the little name Nigeria has from ruining.

Reacting to reports that she graduated from secondary school at 13 and was called to bar at 20, Esther Chukwuemeka said it was an error made by a person who put out a congratulatory message to celebrate her.

She added that she graduated from secondary school at 15 and went to study Law in India at 17 after ABSU gave her Political Science, instead of the Law she wanted.

In the video the lady was heard saying,

“I finished school at the age of 15 not 13 as was published by major blogs, and I got accepted into the university of imo to study political science at the age of 16/17 , but I went to india instead to study law, i know that I look younger than by age and can even pass as a 19 or 17 year old but am 24 not 20 .”

How Afonja evolved or how Afonja cannot hype their own the way Igbos do but wait for these sort of opportunity to go underground and show how they keep tabs on how others support their own. Fools.
You still don’t get it.

Why do we need to tell people we are achievers when the number speak for itself?

Why do I need to celebrate and chestbeat that a Yoruba was elected for councilorship when we have more than over 50+ elected officials of Yoruba origin in the UK alone that cut across years.

Why do I need to shout about NBA when Hakeem Olajuwon is in the FIBA hall of fame.

Why do I need to shout when Olusoji Fasuba is the fastest African of all time. Except if someone new broke his record.

That’s what the guy is saying. That even in the midst of this the Yorubas still learn to be like humans and not chestbeating apes.

So I shouldn’t rest because Wole Soyinka got those Nobel Laureate?

When you win everything, you won’t need to be insecure and that is what the guy is saying.

Music/Radio › Billboard Called Wizkid Songs “Yoruba Music” On Their Official Twitter Page by trutharena(op): 4:59am On Jul 23, 2021
As previously reported, BTS bounds in atop the July 24-dated Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts with "Permission to Dance." It's the South Korean superstars' fifth and fourth leader on the respective lists, extending their lead for the most since both surveys launched last September. But going deeper on both rankings, other international acts shine, earning their first entries.

Among them, Wizkid debuts on the Global 200 at No. 159 with "Essence," featuring Tems. Both acts hail from Nigeria, following Burna Boy to become the second and third artists from the country to hit the survey.

"Essence," from Wizkid's 2020 album Made in Largos, is primarily sung in English but includes lyrics in Yoruba. The African language is predominantly spoken in Southwestern Nigeria, precisely the location of his native, and album namesake, Largos. It is the first song featuring vocals in Yoruba to grace the Global charts.

This influx of Nigerian talent onto the Global 200 is not just a breakthrough for the country, but continues a burst of chart activity from Africa. Global chart action from the continent has mostly been limited to "Jerusalema" by Master KG featuring Nomcebo Zikode (both from South Africa) and Burna Boy (Nigeria), which has spent 45 weeks on the Global Excl. U.S. chart so far, peaking at No. 18 in October. Wes (Cameroon) was also co-billed with Robin Schulz on "Alane," which spent three weeks on the Global Excl. U.S. chart.

Wizkid and Burna Boy have especially become in-demand featured guests, showing up on albums by Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Drake and others, but "Essence" represents a breakthrough with Wizkid being the lead artist, and, instead of asking one of his North American buddies to return the favor, spotlighting a fellow Nigerian act in Tems.

This week, "Essence" climbs 82-72 on the U.S. based Billboard Hot 100, while bouncing 30-24 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally.

Politics › Nigerian Born Nominated As UK Candidate For International Law Commission Job by trutharena(op): 1:34am On Jul 19, 2021
Nigerian-born Dapo Akande, a Professor of Public International Law at the University of Oxford, has been nominated as the United Kingdom’s candidate for the International Law Commission (ILC) for the period 2023 to 2027.

In a brief statement endorsing him, the UK Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, said Professor Akande’s professional accomplishments and breadth of experience were highly commendable and should earn him the job.

”The United Kingdom is pleased to nominate Professor Dapo Akande as our candidate for the International Law Commission for the period 2023 to 2027. The UK has always been a strong supporter of the International Law Commission and is proud of the contribution that British international lawyers have made to its work. I believe that Professor Akande is perfectly positioned to strengthen this contribution yet further,” Raab said.

Recently, Professor Akande’s candidacy was endorsed by five countries, including nominated by Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, and Slovenia.

This development, according to the UK government, demonstrates the high value they place on the Professor’s experience, expertise and commitment to upholding the highest standards in international law.

Professor Akande was raised in Ibadan and obtained his LLB from Obafemi Awolowo University. He qualified as a lawyer from the Nigerian Law School.

He began his legal career as a Research Assistant to Judge Bola Ajibola, KBE SAN, and he is an Editorial Board Member for the Nigerian Yearbook of International Law.

He is also an author.

Describing his vision for seeking the ILC position, Professor Akande said:

“I am humbled to have been co-nominated by Nigeria for the International Law Commission, alongside the UK. This is a great honour as I was born, educated and started my legal journey in Nigeria. Throughout my career, I have been proud to represent Nigeria before international courts, and to help strengthen its legal system by providing training in international law to lawyers and government officials.

“It would be a privilege to be elected to the International Law Commission and I believe I can make a meaningful contribution to its work. My vision is clear: the codification and progressive development of international law can strengthen the rules on which international cooperation is based, and help promote a just and peaceful system of international relations.”

Team Nigeria captain, Aruna Quadri, is now the highest-rated African tennis player.

The Nigerian has been seeded number 15 among the players in the men’s singles competition of the table tennis event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Aruna took the 15th spot among the 65 players listed for the singles event at the Olympics which kicks off Friday in Tokyo.

However, he will be hoping to exceed in Japan his quarter-final finish at Rio 2016.

Having qualified for Tokyo based on his world rating, he will now be awaiting his first-round opponent when the draws hold this week.

Egypt’s Omar Assar is seeded 28th, while Aruna’s compatriot —- Olajide Omotayo —- is seeded 49th in the men’s singles.

In the women’s singles, six-time African women champion, Egypt’s Dina Meshref, has been seeded 19th.

Nigeria’s Offiong Edem is seeded 53rd among the 70 athletes competing in the women’s singles event, while seven-time Olympian Olufunke Oshonaike is 60th.

Meanwhile, China’s Fan Zhendong and Chen Meng have been unveiled as the top seeds for the men’s and women’s singles categories.

Making his first appearance on the Olympic stage in Tokyo, 24-year-old Fan Zhendong is bidding to become the sixth Chinese player to take home men’s singles gold.

Meanwhile, fellow Fan’s compatriot and defending champion Ma Long, who has been named as the number two seed, will attempt to recapture the magic of five years ago.

He will be defending his highly sought-after title at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

Seeded third is homeboy 18-year-old Tomokazu Harimoto is bound to catch the eye as the ever-improving teenager looks to guide Japan to a historic first gold medal in the category.

Also, Brazil’s Hugo Calderano and Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-Ju have been named the fourth and fifth seeds respectively in the men’s singles draw.

They are ahead of Sweden’s Mattias Falck, London 2012 bronze medallist Dimitrij Ovtcharov and fellow German Timo Boll.

A new women’s singles champion will be crowned, with all eyes firmly fixed on two Chinese debutants looking to make it nine gold medals in a row for them.

Making the summit of the list, top seed Chen Meng leads the way with Sun Yingsha occupying the immediate position below on the list.

China also leads the way in both the Men’s Team and Women’s Team events in pursuit of a fourth-straight gold medal finish in both categories.

I dont think people like you understand. In criminal matters, what a person said, and what he did, are two different things. The court is more interested in what was done than what was said. Kanu nay have vocally supported whatever, but the judge is not going to convict him for what he supported verbally.

To convict Kanu, you would have to prove that people attacked police on his direct orders. You will need strong evidence for that such as eyewitness.

Another thing is that Kanu and IPOB have consistently denied any hand in the attacks on Police, and the judge will take that into account. The case is dead in the water without hard evidence
Lol maybe you are mistaking Nigeria for America here.

Just relax and let’s watch. You will know whether they have cogent evidence against him from the ESN camp raids or not.
