Let "us"make man in "our" is easy to understand. They were many and had the same image. Perhaps a different specie of life forms. Their names are obviously unknown to the bible writers. God seem to be a title not an idividual. The term "God" is misunderstood and it is not a person. For many year I fell victim to believing in a God until I read the bible to see that Baal was also called a God, just as Zeus was called a God too. The bible didn't say Yahweh created the world....it never did. |

Religion / Advice To Christians And Help From Atheist by Truthman83(m): 11:44pm On Sep 24, 2016 |
I have been a free person for few months now and sometimes I look back at what I used to blindly believe in and how it almost messed up my life. The christian faith is like a person born in prison who has no idea what freedom is. You are born in it,taught how to live in it and have made a career for yourself as a good prisoner. I noticed that individuals in a church are also held to this fearful world-view by the constant emphasis on evil and the ability of Satan, the devil. Everything is blamed on the devil and it is obvious the priests and pastors speak more about evil, fear than good. Individuals are held to this fearful world-view by the constant threat of hell. That there is a continuous fear of hell within every christian as they are not sure if they will escape it or not. Ask any christian about hell fire, and you will see they go red in fear The christian “worship” is more centered around a particular interpretation of the Bible rather than something that is felt in the heart. No christian can claim they feel the power of God. If they do say so,it is a big lie. And if they persist, ask them to demonstrate it and they will crawl back into their shells. Many people are still Christians today because they are scared to doubt. Doubting the bible stories is a sin, hence a lot of people who would probably have left are still in it. Without Fear, there is no Christianity. Atheists have a lot of work to do on this forum. You must encourage people to think for themselves and take control of their lives. Thanks,I will be back soon. Religion / My Life Outside Christianity by Truthman83(m): 4:56am On Sep 18, 2016 |
I have received a few emails from Christians on nairaland who want to break free. Don't worry I will not mention names. The fear is how life is outside Christianity and are there moments I feel like going back? Firstly I do not feel fear when remembering my religion past and I do not feel anger either. I have no problem walking into a church building after knowing it is where they discuss false history. Christianity is just as unimportant as Judaism,Islam etc. I have absolutely no problem logging into this site to discuss and share my thoughts. Think of it,contrary to what the priests and pastors preach in the church, there is a lot of good in the world. They focus on the negatives alone and feel everybody sins and needs saving, and should always thanks God for good things, which easily misconstrued as saying that God is the only good thing. No it isn't. A pastor will never tell you to visit a therapist when you suffer from depression. They never tell you there is so a lot of beauty on this planet, they will never tell you that 7 out of 10 people you meet are good people. Their duty is to maintain the level of fear No matter where I go these days I keep seeing church buildings after church building, christian billboards after billboards, all reminding me of my christian past.I have blocked every daily alerts and pop up messages from christian sites. I recently posted about my graduation anniversary and there was a lot ..."god bless you" I cannot rebuke them, can I? I have no need to rebuke them as it will cost me some high profile relationships. The amount of christian messages to Atheist ones is overwhelmingly high. Atheist messages are almost non-existence in my environment, the reason I see this site as a place to release my thoughts. I think there should be a balance as there are many Christians who want to break free but aren't encouraged with the daily bombardment with Christians alerts. 1 Like |
Religion / Re: I Am Losing My Fear Of Death As An Unbeliever In Christianity. by Truthman83(m): 12:16pm On Sep 17, 2016 |
honourhim: If only you knew the kind of inner peace I meant. Being scared of hell is the main reason Christians fear death. What happens on the other side is a major concern of Christians and the fear they might not make heaven. You can only find this inner peace once the source of the fear is gone. 2 Likes |

Religion / I Am Losing My Fear Of Death As An Unbeliever In Christianity. by Truthman83(m): 2:20pm On Sep 16, 2016 |
I have noticed that compared to 6 months ago,my fear of death and hell fire is diminishing. This didn't come so easy after losing my faith. At first I was a bit scared but now that I don't think I have a blissful eternity waiting for me. I am somehow more comfortable with death than I usually was. For the first time I traveled from Abuja to Lagos without praying for safe journey to and fro. I was completely at rest for the first time in my life. Usually I panic and spit out "blood of Jesus" at every given chance. I normally have sleepless night journeys but now it is completely different. Life can be beautiful for those who let it. Christianity seems to planted in us the fear of death of death. It is seen as a divine punishment, rather than help us accept it as a very natural and neutral part of being alive. I thought my fears would increase as a non-christian but instead I am enjoying a fantastic peace of mind. Christianity is supposedly all about removing the fear of death for a promise of eternal bliss, but then it also says heaven is just a hope not a guaranty. One bible verse gives you hope and another one completely nolifies it. The Bible also failed to give the minimum requirement for a believer to make heaven. It seem to be a never ending cycle of fear I want to thank the Atheist on this forum for relentlessly standing against the wave of religion, otherwise I probably will still be out there nursing my ex state of mind. Thank you! 22 Likes 5 Shares |

Religion / The Bible Needs To Be Updated Or Abolished by Truthman83(m): 3:18am On Aug 26, 2016 |
The stories I was taught me in Sunday School seemed a little odd: God turning Lot's wife into a pillar of salt just for turning around at the wrong time. Jonah being swallowed by a fish. I doubted a person could survive long in a fish. How would they breathe? And Jesus dying for my sins and rising again, all before I was even born. The New Testament turned out to be almost 2000 years old; that's hardly what I considered “new”. Even as a kid I could see that the technological and scientific progress since then probably shed a new light on the interpretation of biblical events. The bible is about 2000 years old, and the world is no longer the same as used to be. Slavery is abolished, gay marriage is legal, and the Christian faith is split into dozens of different denominations. Everyone interprets the bible differently because it is so old. If the bible were to be updated, everyone could see it in the same way. Otherwise the bible will just fade into the past, and Christianity will end up like the old Norse, Greek, and Egyptian religions. The Bible, in Revelation, clearly states that nothing is to be added to or taken away from it. Meaning killing of gays, newly wedded who ain't virgin, rape, slavery must go on. This is why this book must be abolished. Am I wrong brothers and sisters? 4 Likes |

JFAH: It is a much different society to ours over here. Here you are considered insane if you do not believe in the Christian God or the Islamic one. 95% of our population is very religious. I cannot sum up the courage at this moment to declare myself Atheist. killing an Atheist might be considered as demonic cleansing. I live in a society that believe demons are real and a lot of money is made by pastors killing them. My society is also extremely Homosexuality intolerant. It is good to know that someone out there lives in a much civilized society. 3 Likes |

KingEbukasBlog: Thanks sir for the beautiful thread you made about me. Unfortunately I cannot be everywhere at the same time. And Sir,I think you have mistaken me for other Atheists, maybe because we think alike. I have no reason to be dishonest or fool others with multiple accounts. I only felt like sharing my religious and non-religious experiences with like minded people. I had no clue someone took the truth man account. But when I tried taking it it showed the name was already taken. And because it was a specific name wanted to go by,I chose Truthman83 which is my year of birth. I hope I have clerified my account a bit. I am a man of peace and not here to argue with anyone. Religion/faith is a personal thing. I am only here to mingle with Atheists like myself. Thanks 4 Likes |

Gone are the days for being made to feel guilty for being responsible for the sins that nailed Jesus on the cross. Gone are the weeks I would be told to confess my sins in prayer and ask God for forgiveness for sins I couldn't imagine I committed. Gone are those deliverance services in MFM. I no longer feel guilty of sin I supposedly committed against a god that hasn't been verified. I tried to read the bible every day, but to be honest it was pretty boring. I went to church regularly which helped to assuage my doubts, but I often felt frustrated with a lack of guidance from God. I noticed even when I ask for God's guidance, wait on him, fast for days, but I end up making my decisions myself. I noticed the total silence from God even when I needed an answer from him. It was complete silence. But when I get a decision right I get asked to testify that God did it. No I couldn't do that because that was my decision. Giving up my childhood belief system was hard, but it's one of the most important things I've done for myself. My family have disowned me and still I feel a bit of anxiety but not lonely as I used to be. I make better decisions now,I trust my instinct, read books and learn from life experiences. I must also thank the nairaland religious section for helping me turn proper atheist. I watch most religions debates on here and see how Christians make absolute zero sense when debating atheists. I understand why Christians debate blindly, because their religion is such a core belief that they cannot imagine their life without it. But yes you can! 22 Likes 6 Shares |
