Romance / Re: Serious Opinion Please by TruthSeeker1: 8:32pm On Dec 25, 2020 |
The real truth behind infidelity is that "nature" did not design us to stick to a single partner. It takes a great deal of self-discipline and determination to remain faithful to a partner. After marrying the person you "love", this will not stop you from being attracted to ither people that you find attractive (you just need to discipline yourself!). One man, one woman is an idea that has gained global popularity and acceptability only because it seems decent, responsible and Godly. Unfortunately, nature doesn't care about that.. its goal is procreation (which will obviously be favoured by mating with multiple partners, like other animals do). |

Health / Re: COVID-19 Update For December 23 2020 In Nigeria by TruthSeeker1: 6:32am On Dec 24, 2020 |
ehinmowo: Putting Nigeria's covid-19 statistics aside, do you think the statistics of infections and deaths in other countries like USA, India, Brazil, UK, Russia, South Africa, Italy etc is also a scamdemic? If millions of people have truly contracted covid-19 in these countries with tens (and in some cases, hundreds) of thousands deaths as reported, then an overpopulated, disorganized country like Nigeria should logically have far more cases than the ones officially reported. So in my opinion, the "scamdemic" in Nigeria should be a case of underreporting of covid-19 actual infections and deaths figures. 1 Like |

EVILFOREST: She was overwhelmed by her problems. She could no longer reason rationally to see the negative impact her action might have on those she would leave behind. Her life became worthless to her. She didn't have any hope of seeing light at the end of the tunnel. She couldn't endure it anymore! Having faced (and still facing) some terrible difficulties myself, I understand how she must have felt before deciding to end it. I don't blame her, I only pity her. I hope the kids get help and get over whatever anguish and pain they may be going through right now. @ the bolded: Here is someone still living and in dire need of financial assistance. donbachi: After she had "thought" about it all and put various factors into consideration, she couldn't see any hope of a better future; she couldn't see any way out of the conditions and situations that made life miserable and unbearable for her. At that point, ending her own life suddenly became a reasonable thing to do. I've once been on the verge of committing suicide. Life can be extremely frustrating at times! |

Religion / Re: A World Without Religion—an Improvement? by TruthSeeker1: 6:44pm On Dec 21, 2020 |
DappaD:I don't really know what your point is, but science and technology only started changing rapidly in the 20th century. If by "human nature" you mean human psychology, then I will say it is multifaceted and complicated. I don't know the change you're looking for You've answered the question yourself: both religious and irreligious people exhibit all of human characteristics (both good and bad). The distinction you have made between good and bad religion is only your opinion and it's debatable. Also, whatever verse you quote from the Bible is nothing but someone's thought/opinion; it's not necessarily the fact or truth. My simple question for you is: between science and religion, which one has solved more human problems? Which one has contributed more to the progress and advancement of the human society? Religion only gives hope about something that is most probably non-existent. It also makes us depend on imaginary deities to solve our problems for us. On the other hand science gives us the power to solve our own problems! If we can only combine science with a genuine concern for others well-being (through empathy), almost all our problems will be solved: only the problems caused by natural disasters will remain. |
Religion / Re: A World Without Religion—an Improvement? by TruthSeeker1: 5:02pm On Dec 21, 2020 |
To answer your question objectively, we simply need to identify the merits and demerits of religion, juxtapose the two and ascertain which one is more. In my assessment, the demerits of religion far outweigh its merits. Hence, an irreligious world would be an improvement. Essentially, abolishing religion would mean more focus on science. This will invariably help us come up with better solutions to our problems (rather than relying on deities). From the countless good things we are already enjoying from science, more science will ensure a better world! |

seanwilliam: I didn't try to state the root cause of the problem. Rather, I stated that identifying and understanding the root cause of the problem is the reasonable approach we should take to solving problems effectively. In other words, when solving problems we ought to focus more on tackling the CAUSE of the problem instead of the EFFECT of the problem. If you calm down and reflect carefully on what I wrote, you will get my point. |
Religion / Re: Why Do You Still Believe In God, by TruthSeeker1: 4:13pm On Dec 21, 2020 |
I do not believe in a personal God that dwells in heaven or a "spiritual realm" as many religions do. However, the undeniable fact that things exist, both animate and inanimate, in a seemingly orderly and perhaps coordinated system makes me believe that there is some sort of intelligent force behind existence. It is this creative, intelligent force that I consider to be GOD. 1 Like |

Religion / Re: Ten Minutes Earnest Prayer Is More Potent Than Two Hours Distracted Prayer. by TruthSeeker1: 3:47pm On Dec 21, 2020 |
Actually, there is no omnipotent being/entity up there in the sky (or wherever else) that listens to your prayers and answers (or disregards) them, whether you pray fervently or distractedly. However, I believe there is a way prayer alters your psychological and attitudinal disposition to the object of your prayer. This may then in turn influence how easily you get what you pray for, but depending of course on how favourable other relevant conditions are. |
Politics / Re: Nsukka Youths Call For #EndPoliceBrutality & #EndBadGovernance (Pictures) by TruthSeeker1: 2:57pm On Dec 21, 2020 |
I have come to realize that our approach to solving problems in Nigeria is generally poor. We often don't think deep and critically enough to clearly identify and understand the fundamental factors responsible for the problems we are faced with. As a result, we usually end up coming up with "solutions" that merely alleviate the symptoms of the problem, rather than carefully and effectively address the root cause of the disease. Police brutality, bad governance, corruption, insecurity etc are, to me, symptoms of a problem whose cause we are yet to identify/ understand fundamentally. As long as we fail to address the ACTUAL cause of the problem, even when we successfully deal with the symptoms of the problem like police brutality and insecurity, other equally undesirable symptoms may still pop up. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Ironically, reading news like this often gives me solace and relief from my sadness and depression occasioned by my financial difficulty. Such news makes me realize that I still have something to be grateful for despite my numerous challenges. After all, it is when I'm alive that I can worry about how to earn a living and set out to pursue different goals. Unfortunately however, death is something we are all inevitably going to taste sooner or later, whether we like it or not. Each person's time will be up someday. This undeniable reality should make s/he who is wise to live as "best" a life as they can. Tomorrow, it may be YOUR time to go! Meanwhile, I really need some financial assistance from anyone who can comfortably spare some change. Any amount will be highly appreciated. Polaris bank; 2020 274 729. And if you so wish, I don't mind refunding your money whenever I'm back on my feet financially (very soon, hopefully). 1 Like 1 Share |

Ingriid: What do you think is responsible for such wickedness? Do people just decide to be wicked or does "something" beyond their control push them to be wicked, uncaring, unsympathetic, unempathetic and self-centered? I believe if we can clearly understand the psychological, sociological and perhaps, spiritual causes of wickedness and cruelty among the majority of people, then it will become much easier to solve the problem. 3 Likes |
