This is clearly the road that linked Osogbo to some other Parts of Osun State and Kwara. Not the capital city. This road linked Osogbo to Ikirun(a town in Osun State) and Kwara State.

Appeal Court Ruling: We have strong confidence the Judiciary will Uphold the tenet of Fairness and Justice in its expected verdict -Osun PDP

The Osun People's Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed strong confidence in the expected verdict of the appeal court in the Osun Guber case tomorrow.

The PDP in a statement by the Acting Chairman of the party, Dr Akindele Adekunle on thursday in Abuja reassure party members of favourable outcome as expected by all Osun citizens and her lovers across the globe.

" We want to call on our party members to remain calm in their anxiousness for tomorrow's appeal court ruling regarding the case between the Governor and our party, against the defeated opposition in the state.

" We have strong confidence in God and the judiciary to uphold the tenet of fairness and justice in the case presented before the Lord Justice of the appellate court.

" Osun people have repeatedly shown who they preferred to govern them and like the popular maxim says, 'vox populi, vox dei', (the voice of the people is the voice of God).

" Notwithstanding the wishful thinking of the rejected party and her evil elements over the popular mandate with Governor Ademola Adeleke and Osun PDP, we have a strong belief, that nothing will truncate the will of God over Osun, because God still rules in the affairs of men.

" As a party, we thank you all for your support from all our well wishers, we urge you to remain calm and by God's grace, victory is ours. However, let's continue interceding for God's favour over our dear state nonstop", the chairman affirmed.

TEXT OF AN ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OSUN STATE, SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE AT THE DISTRIBUTION OF SUPPORT MATERIALS TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

PROTOCOL

I welcome us all to this event. Government has a responsibility to support all categories of citizenry. Hence, this programme is designed to strengthen a segment of our population with special needs.

Permit me to first of all thank Osun people for the successful conduct of the last polls. While we celebrate the successes of the poll, we equally sympathize with victims of political violence across the state. We are saddened by deliberate acts of thuggery in some parts of the state. I will repeat here that election is not war but choice making.

Now that elections are over, I call on all Osun people to get back to work and focus on the urgent task of building a better Osun state. Now is the time to support the government's efforts to address our developmental challenges. We need all hands on deck to improve the growth of the various sectors of the society.

Part of that sector is our brothers and sisters with disabilities. No growth is complete if a section of the state is neglected and abandoned. Our administration is committed to supporting this segment of the citizenry. We will work to comply with local and international best practices.

More specifically, our administration will review the legal framework as it affects the people with disabilities within Osun State. To this end, I hereby direct the Ministry of Justice to review and bring up to date the Osun State Disability bill. All needed legislative and executive actions should be launched without further delay. Osun must get a Disability law in due course to cater for the needs of this class of our society.

To our people with special needs, this administration will ensure that the final law addresses all your concerns.Once the legal framework is formalized, be rest assured of full implementation as may be prescribed.

Meanwhile, I invite you to accept these support materials as a starting point of our partnership. I am by this programme demonstrating that people with special needs are not forgotten in my administration.

Thanks for listening.

HE, Senator Ademola Adeleke,
Executive Governor of Osun State

Politics2023: Adeleke Decries Political Violence, Says Election Not War, But By Choice by TruthsFM(op): 10:08pm On Mar 22, 2023
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has frowned at several incidents of political violence in Osun state, declaring that “election is about choice making, not war”

Speaking while receiving political leaders who visited him on the massive electoral successes of the last elections on Wednesday, the State chief executive described acts of thuggery and violence as against the spirit of democracy which envisages choice making through the ballot.

While commending the concerted efforts of the security agencies, Governor Adeleke decried shedding of innocent blood “simply because some politicians are unwilling to allow free and fair polls”, positing that ” the voters, the citizens decide who leads them.

” My election as Governor on July 16,2022 has been reaffirmed and revalidated by mass victories for me and my party on February 2th and on March 18th of this year. The whole world can attest to the fact that our mandate is of the people, by the people and for the people.

” Elected people hold power in trust for the people. We must therefore bow to people’s will. When you fail in a poll, go back and prepare for the next round of election. That is democracy in action. We must eschew violence. It is unacceptable to kill and maim people you are seeking to govern.

“As we celebrate the successes of the poll, we are also sympathizing with victims of political violence across the state. We are saddened by deliberate acts of thuggery in some parts of the state. I will repeat here that election is not war but choice making” , Governor Adeleke restated.

He then called on the residents of the state to get back to work, adding that it is time to focus on the urgent task of building a better Osun state.

“Now is the time to support the government’s efforts to address our developmental challenges. We need all hands on deck to improve the growth of the various sectors of the society”, he emphasized.

The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu has congratulated the Labour Party candidate and winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state, Alex Otti.

The incumbent, in a statement shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Otti as the winner of the poll, said the Labour Party candidate fought a long battle over a very long period of time and should be commended for his staying power and resilience.

The governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also urged all Otti’s opponents including his party’s candidate, Okey Ahiwe not to distract the incoming governor with court cases.

Otti trounced his main rivals like PDP’s Ahiwe and Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP). Otti scored 175,467, Ahiwe polled 88,529 while Nwafor got 28,972. The LP candidate also won 10 of the 17 local government areas in the state, PDP got six while the YPP got one.

Otti won at his third attempt. He was the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2015 and 2019 elections.

Ikpeazu, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, said the governor-elect must see his victory as a higher call to service to the people of Abia State.

He also saluted the other candidates who took part in the election, especially the PDP candidate for their doggedness. He advised the candidates not to distract the incoming governor with court cases.

Having myself spent about three and half years in different courts and having experienced first hand, the distraction such cases can cause a leader, I appeal to every candidate in this election not to distract the incoming administration with court cases, so that they will settle down and deal with the very demanding business of governance,” Ikpeazu was quoted as saying.

“Let us break this negative trend of subjecting our Governors to endless litigations and allow them to concentrate on providing good governance.”
Ikpeazu assured Otti that he would put in place every necessary measure to ensure a seamless transition.
