I’m of the opinion that a proponent of leadership in any part of Nigeria at this challenging times should not be inciting violence or supporting a rebellion. I’m also of the opinion that, based on the posts alleged to have been put up by this ‘Gbadebo’ Rhodes Vivour guy, recently or in the past, he should not be allowed to contest as an administrator of Lagos (especially Lagos being a state that resides people from all tribes and regions in Nigeria)! The question is, is it too late for him to be adequately probed about his intentions and interests and whether or not he’s willing to serve the interests of everyone regardless of tribe, ethnicity or religion? A leader of Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijesa, Tunde Ejoka, was early yesterday killed by suspected political thugs.


Ejoka was killed in his residence in Ijebu-Jesa, headquarters of Ori-Ade Local Government Area of the state, it was said.


Acting chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement, described the killing as unfortunate and callous, alleging that political thugs loyal to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were responsible for the attack.

Lawal said, PDP thugs threatened Ejoka on the eve of the presidential and National Assembly elections, adding that, “Ejoka was slaughtered…simply because he canvassed a lot of votes for the party over the weekend.”


Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola said “investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstance that led to his killing.”


The spokesperson of PDP, Bamiji Oladele, did not take his call when contacted for reaction.

About 190,000 supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State declared their support for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Teslim Folarin, on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

The supporters under their platform called PDP Vanguard made this known in a statement on their official Twitter account @pdpvanguard, on Wednesday.

The statement read: “It is essential that every eligible voter in Oyo State exercises their right to vote.

“The importance of this cannot be overstated, as every single vote counts and can make a significant difference in the outcome of the election.


Meanwhile, a statement by Folarin’s media aide, Yekeen Olaniyi, on Thursday, welcomed the development, calling on other opposition parties to take a cue from the PDP Vanguard by joining him to rescue the state from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.

He said, “Oyo State security system has shamefully degraded from a mountaintop of excellence during the days of “Operation Burst” to a despicable gutter of security deterioration such that the state residents now live in palpable fear and tension.”

Labour Party In Talk With PDP To Unseat Sanwo-Olu In Lagos

The Labour Party says it has begun alliance talks with the Peoples Democratic Party to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the March 11 governorship election in the state.
The governorship candidate of the party in the state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour disclosed this while addressing journalists on Wednesday.

Rhodes-Vivour said the party was in talks with the ‘real owners’ of PDP in Lagos to form an alliance ahead of the state governorship election.

“We are talking with the real owners of the structure of PDP and in the next coming days, we are going to come into alliance with them,” he said.

He expressed optimism about defeating the APC and emerging as the next governor of the state.

“People are going to come out more than they did the last time,” he added.

Be Peaceful, Avoid Violence, Governor Adeleke Tasks Osun People

Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has called on residents of the state to remain peaceful and avoid political violence in the countdown to March 11th state election.

Speaking while addressing stakeholders and leaders of the People's Democratic Party at his residence, Governor Adeleke once again commended the massive support for PDP in last Saturday's election, calling on all political parties "to continue to maintain the peace as democracy is about making choices at the polling stations"

He specifically warned against incitement, political violence and any other conduct that may breach the peace the state is currently experiencing, adding " We need peace all the time".

In reference to last Saturday's election, Governor Adeleke said "there is no winner, no vanquish", calling on voters "to prepare again for the exercise of their fundamental human right come March 11th.

" The outcome of last Saturday's election is a manifestation of what democracy is all about. Democracy is like a sporting game, you win some, you lose some. But we must at all times, keep alive the spirit of sportsmanship"

" Our good people of Osun and Nigeria have voted. They have made their choices, leaders have emerged. We all now have a duty to sit down and serve the best interest of the voting public. This is no time for regret, recriminations, or blame game. We must sit-up and get to work as elected representatives of our people and as responsible members of the political class.

" As a winner or a loser, what democracy demands of you is commitment to the rule of the game. So, in the countdown to March 11, I call on Osun people to again get their PVC ready, mobilize and exercise their civic responsibility. Let us avoid violence. Let us maintain peace. Our dear state is marked for good governance ", the State Chief Executive concluded.

The meeting was attended by key leaders of the PDP in Osun State, elected Senators and House of Representatives members as well as State Assembly candidates from the 26 state constituencies.
