Honestly, I've been awake in the last 3 hours waiting to read Buhari's press conference about his certificate. I saw the documents released by the Nigerian army, ( NO WAEC CERTIFICATE), now I read Buhari's press conference, and the summary is, he has written to his school to provide his result.

It's so obvious Buhari, doesn't have WAEC result. He passed the buck to the Nigerian Army, didn't he know his school before he refereed INEC to the Army?

Why is he dropping names of prominent Nigerians that went to school with him? Was it necessary?

It's very simple, the Army, honored the principal's recommendation to admit Buhari, hence, he didn't see the need OR didn't go back to write WAEC. Think about this, Buhari, can't be in the army and be writing WAEC at the same time.

This last minute " press conference", is just to buy time and proceed to contest election. How long will it take to get his records from his school? After all, he's campaigning in the North there, so, just stop by and collect you result.

Everybody would've loved to see PDP defeated, I don't know why PDP, always have edge over the opponents. As in, PDP, has a way of DESTROYING YOU BEFORE YOU DESTROY THEM.

For the life of me, I will never understand how former President Olusegun Obasanjo does it. When you think he is done, he has just begun. I have watched in utter amusement how he has, yet again, wangled his way into the front page of newspapers on a daily basis. I don’t know of any other former head of state elsewhere who has turned himself into the subject and object of national attention long after he has left power. Obasanjo is always there, always scheming, always screaming. It is his luck, I must say, but, as a mere mortal, I often wonder why some guys have all the luck.

Obasanjo, amazingly, has become a god or a saint to many Nigerians. Many politicians, commentators, journalists, activists and youths who used to criticise him are now celebrating him as our moral compass. The people he has brutalised before — such as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi — go to Abeokuta to genuflect to him. Even Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, of all people, goes to Obasanjo's house to pay homage. And President Goodluck Jonathan goes to Abeokuta to kowtow to him, with two respected pastors in tow.

How does Obasanjo do it? Can anyone help me out? He has a word on every issue. He expresses his opinion so forcefully, so eloquently and so mischievously that you just cannot ignore him. He loves to criticise what he is patently guilty of. He loves to vilify anyone who does not worship at his temple. There is no accusation Obasanjo throws at anyone that he himself is not double guilty of. He has launched ferocious media attacks against most of his successors — President Shehu Shagari, Gen. Obasanjo complains about corruption and Nigerians hail him. What's his moral high ground? Can someone tell me? Has anybody never heard about the Halliburton and Siemens scandals? The damning reports are there in the attorney-general's office. Does the name Dr. Julius Makanjuola ring a bell? Under Obasanjo, he was the permanent secretary of the ministry of defence implicated in a N421 million scandal. Mysteriously, the case was abruptly closed with Nolle Prosequi (no further prosecution) — the first in Nigeria's history.

Well, Obasanjo went on to set up the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), headed by Malam Nuhu Ribadu, which — in fairness — did kick the backsides of many politicians. But EFCC could not tackle Obasanjo's own corruption: from the obscene fundraiser for his private library to his shareholding in Transcorp — a company that was getting juicy stuff from a government superintended by Obasanjo. Have we all forgotten the scandalous waivers granted to all kinds of human beings, officially defrauding our treasury billions of dollars?

Does anybody remember that Obasanjo was in power for eight years and we kept importing fuel, with PDP financiers getting the contracts through local and foreign fronts? Forgotten so easily? Does anybody remember how much we spent on repairing refineries that kept "knocking" for the eight years that Obasanjo was in power? Does anybody still remember Obasanjo saying on national TV that he did not know the price of kerosene and it was "unacceptable" that it was more expensive than petrol? How does Obasanjo get away with hoodwinking Nigerians?

Do we still remember that Obasanjo did not resolve the electricity problem for eight years? Do we still remember the "$16 billion spent on power without results" for which Obasanjo arrogantly refused to appear before the House probe panel? Is it that we have forgotten that the damning report was killed? Do we still remember that Obasanjo did not add one coach to the railways throughout his tenure despite spending billions of dollars? Does anybody still remember how many federal highways were in terrible state for the eight years that Obasanjo spent in power? Have we forgotten the Benin-Shagamu road saga? Just like that?

When Obasanjo discusses insecurity, I cringe. From every available evidence, Boko Haram started right under his nose. If he had aborted the foetus, maybe we wouldn't be engaged in fire-fighting today. I have heard many Nigerians say, perhaps innocently, that if Obasanjo had been in power he would have crushed Boko Haram by now. Really? How well did he crush the less complex militancy in the Niger Delta? Was it not under Obasanjo that the militancy started in 2004 and flourished?

To the best of my knowledge, militants were bombing oil installations and kidnapping oil workers with ease under Obasanjo. At a stage, daily crude oil production fell to about 900,000 barrels — from the height of 2.5m. In fact, we were later told that why Obasanjo picked Jonathan as the running mate to Yar'Adua was to appease the Niger Delta. Of course, nobody was appeased. The attacks continued until Yar'Adau offered an amnesty deal. How these facts conveniently escape us is beyond my understanding.

Insecurity? Abacha's regime aside, more Nigerians were assassinated under Obasanjo's watch than at any time in our history. The abridged roll-call: Chief Bola Ige, a serving minister; Chief Marshall Harry, co-ordinator of the Buhari presidential campaign in 2003; Chief AK Dikibo, PDP chieftain and ally of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Chief Uche Ogbonnaya (OGB), an ANPP senatorial candidate in Imo State in 2003; and Mr. Barnabas Igwe and his wife, Amaka, in Onitsha. The assassins were never unmasked. What is insecurity?

Have we forgotten the illegal impeachment of Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja as governor of Oyo State? What about the impeachment of Chief Joshua Dariye as governor of Plateau by eight out of 24 lawmakers? For three years, Obasanjo unconstitutionally withheld Lagos council allocations because of political differences. It took Yar'Adua only a few days in power to undo the impunity.

They say, "Oh, Obasanjo is a patriot. He has the best interest of Nigeria at heart." Really? Can Obasanjo look up to heavens and say, solemnly, that he had the best interest of Nigeria at heart when he was picking his successor? Such a character cannot be my own moral compass. With a moral compass like Obasanjo, though, Nigeria is doomed and damned.

Business leaders should also be allowed to ask them questions about their economic plan. Now, let me start from Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel ( Obj's boy), was installed as Governor. Gbenga, alone fought Obasanjo, to a standstill for 8 years, took the party structure from Obj. Obj's daughter was able to be rigged into the senate when her dad hold sway. When Obj, left power, Iyabo, was defeated and the all mighty Obasanjo couldn't help her or anyone.

Segun Osoba, is a the god of Ogun politics, he helped the incumbent gov. to be in office. Courtesy of APC, Osoba's boys won Ogun senate and rep seats. Who in Ogun did Obj. backed in Ogun and the person was elected in 2011? NONE. The all might Obasanjo's state is in the hands of APC, what an IRONY.

When the House of Reps wanted to elect their Speaker and other principal officers, All the people that had an association with Obasanjo were relegated, consequently, Aminu Tambuwal, and others were elected against PDP and Obj's plans. Tinubu and his Northern allies used APC clout to make sure Obasanjo's proteges remains less influential in the SW, and so was it.

Obasanjo, hand picked two WEAKLING folks as PDP presidential candidates. He coerced all the aspirants to drop their ambitions and support Yardua and GEJ, hoping that they'll forever rely on him on how to maneuver the MURKY SHARK INFESTED waters of Nigerian politics, because, he's a rtd General that fought the civil war and the only living man that understands Nigeria's people and their problem better, meaning, OBJ, GOT THE ANSWERS TO EVERYTHING. To his greatest surprise, Yardua, became his own man from the day of his inauguration, Yaradua, rubbished and reverted all Obasanjo's policies. Yardua, refused to see Obj, too many times and never went to him for advice, until he died.

Did you say Obj, is powerful? That's some naive perception. If any politician is powerful, with so much political clout, deft moves and network, that's Bola Tinubu. Regardless of how much I dislike some of his moves and greed, I'll give it to him, He's a SMART POLITICAL MAFIA, who understands DEMOCRACY.

My take, I think Jonathan is trying hard not to appear an INGRATE ( cos, he's still in awe of I am a President? ) to a man that made him. He doesn't want to overtly fight or denigrate Obasanjo. If Jonathan, were to be a hardcore Nigerian politician, he would have used his presidential powers and put Obasanjo, where the old man won't believe, "If I'm going down, we all are going down together". The problem with Jonathan, is, he's just a LUCKY COUNTRY BOY, that always found himself with things that are GREATER than him. If Jonathan, were to be the likes of Atiku, Tinubu, Orji Kalu or Ibori, etc, these are RUGGED folks that have fought too many battles in their private lives before venturing into politics, and from their type of politics, you can tell who's street smart and rugged.

Look around you, you'll not find anyone that Obasanjo is sponsoring or campaigning for, I mean, regular Governor, reps and senate post, but Tinubu, Osoba and other real politicians that knows the game, are busy scheming things for their boys. Let Obj, sponsor someone with his locality and lets see how far the person can go.

Jonathan, smoothly schemed Obj, out of PDP, remember when he told you guys that he's " retiring" from active politics? It was the shame and shock of what Jonathan, are doing to his loyalist in PDP. From Andy Uba, to Oyinlola, to ministers, etc, all Obj boys were KICKED OUT of relevance by Jonathan. Where was Obj and his "powerful"? Obj, wanted Lamido and Amechi to take over from Jonathan, of course Jonathan, made him to understand that I RUN NIGERIA and PDP, for now. Why didn't Obasanjo used his "power and clout" to wrestle PDP from Jonathan? Or made it difficult for Jonathan to be the sole candidate? You can't give what you don't have. Obj got now power and relevance. Obj, tried to break PDP, into two, yet GEJ, foiled that plan, hence, the losers went and join APC.

Obasanjo, only power is the chaos he covertly supported in the North East of Nigeria, ( BH) through his Western contacts. The Chibok scam, has his approval and signature written all over it ( but it will come to hunt them in the near future). Ask, yourselves, why is Obasanjo, ( an Ogun state man) always talking about how "the girls will never come back again",? How come former presidents like Shagari, Abdulsalami, and Babangida, who have more in common with the supposed missing girls, are less concerned and have never said anything about it? How come Obsanjo's right hand woman is leading the "Bring back their girls" media and street protest? Why Obj and Oby? No prominent Northerner seems to care? Because Obj and Oby love the girls more than their kinsmen? It doesn't add up.

Tinubu, and APC can visit Obj and ask him to support their candidate, simply because, MY ENEMIES ENEMY IS MY FRIEND, not because he's "powerful or have any electoral value. Obj, simply wants Jonathan, TO ALLOW POWER TO RETURN TO THE NORTH, nothing more or less. If Lamido, were to be PDP's candidate, APC wouldn't bother to visit Obj. Jonathan and PDP might visit Obj or ask for his support, it's done out of DIPLOMACY, not that they NEED it. If PDP needs Obj, and think he has electoral value, they wouldn't rubbished him the way they did, 2-3 years ago.

Going to see Obj in Ogun state, is called courtesy call, it doesn't mean that anyone is begging him. It's called DIPLOMACY, the same way Obj showed up at GEJ's wedding, DIPLOMACY at work, ( act as if u no dey vex for the person), it's the standard for public servants. Don't MISINTERPRET all the visit to Obj. Jonathan only needs the SUPPORT of Nigerians who think he deserves their vote. If Jonathan, can allow Ayo Fayose and Kasumu, to fight Obasanjo, the way they want, you'll realize that Obasanjo, ain't NOTHING politically. I am yet to see Obasanjo, his "POWERFULNESS" and ELECTORAL VALUE. In Ogun, state, only the few who benefited from Obasanjo, will listen to him on who to vote for, the rest will vote for APC, in other Yourba states, they'll vote and rig as they want. Is it the Northerners or Igbos or South South people that Obasnajo will influence their voting pattern?

Before I buy my flight ticket to come and vote for Buhari, Nigerians should help me out. I, just like millions of others so much crave for change in Nigeria and I saw APC, talking about "change", and my hopes were HIGH. However, my high hopes on APC, kept falling apart at every move they make.

First, I don't understand how APC, will be talking about "CHANGE" and all the faces I see in their gathering are ROGUES that made Nigeria and PDP, the LAUGHING STOCK and EVIL PARTY, respectively. Say what you like about PDP, I still can't make sense of El Rufai, Saraki, and their ilk, telling the people that they want to "change" Nigeria. You may not see any problem with it, but, I can tell you that Nigeria, is finished, if the faces I see in APC, are the faces that want to "change" Nigeria.

If APC, wants to "change" Nigeria, what stopped them from giving their presidential ticket based on MERIT and COMPETENCY. Based on the media feelers, or the standard Nigerians, set for themselves, Fashola, seems to be the MOST WANTED and COMPETENT man APC, would have given to Nigerians. APC, picking Buhari, instead of Fashola, and acceptance of ROGUES, means that, APC, simply wants to WIN ELECTION and not to "change or embark on any meaningful development. Simply put, APC, is out for " who has influence and who can swing voters", consequently, A lot of COMPROMISES are being made at the EXPENSE of the COMMON man. This's a DANGEROUS one.

You might say YES, "election is about numbers and no permanent friend/enemy", you should also realize that, as a citizen, you're setting a LOW and THIRD WORLD standard and you will get THIRD WORLD SERVICES in return. All these ARRANGEMENTS destroyed Nigeria, rite from 1960 and You don't build a 21st, country like this. APC, wants power at all COST, some people vowed that "anyone but Jonathan" is fine. While, I acknowledge Jonathan's INCOMPETENCE, I'm also worried about Nigerians not asking CRITICAL questions OR OBJECTIVELY yearn for a BETTER ALTERNATIVE. You just want Jonathan, to go? You don't care about who took over and what happens thereafter? It's called OBSESSION, DESPERATION and BLINDNESS and look around your life, you will recall what happened to desperate and obsessed people.

After Buhari, was nominated, I couldn't believe that a man with the supposed passion to "CHANGE" Nigeria, or a man that's suppose to have the interest of the common man at heart doesn't know who he wants as his DEPUTY. Finally, I am reading about Buhari's academic qualification. Is this not suppose to be the SIMPLEST thing on earth? I went to A and Z school and I graduated this year! I have read a lot of CRAP about how Buhari went to this course and that course. How he's a General, how he has contested election three times. Millions of youths from Southern Nigeria, DO NOT understand the Nigeria of Buhari era. I pray for Buhari, to win, then the REALITY will be dawn on you all. If Buhari, brought "change" during his military days, how come even his KINSMEN(IBB &co) in the military didn't believe in his "change" and they had to overthrow him? There's something about Buhari's " CHANGE".

When last did you hear from Gowon, Shagari, Shonekan, Abduslalmi, Jimmy Carter, Bush snr and Jnr, these are people who have CONSCIENCE and understands that the HISTORY of their country is not favorable to them. They accept it and quietly retires in oblivion. What's Obasanjo's noise about? Does he loved Nigeria, more than other past presidents alive? If he loves Nigeria, he will not LOOT public funds. What convinced Obasanjo, that Yardua and GEJ are PERFORMERS and they will run Nigeria well? What did he see in GEJ, that he can't see any longer?

GEJ, was a FAILURE and only a FAILURE identifies with one. If you want " CHANGE" do away with OLD MEN. If APC< failed to give Fashola their presidential ticket, obviously, they technically ZONED their candidacy to the North, the same zoning principle that has made Nigeria BACKWARD and a LAUGHING stock.

Boycott the voting until they present COMPETENT candidates.

APC, has picked their VP, and for a supposed national party, what's in it for other TARGETED VOTERS? Most of these opposition keep giving PDP, so much reason and room to MANIPULATE the voters and the election result.

So, people think that Northern muslim vote and the South West vote is enough to make Buhari president? Election and INEC Mathematics is so DIFFERENT from your regular 1,2,3.

You cannot sideline other tribes in Nigeria, and expect to win election. PDP, is in power and they've manage to use that POWER to give every TRIBE in nigeria sense of belonging ( through politicians). Meaning, they're going to use that same formula to retain power. Amaechi never wanted to be VP. The reason he was in the running was because his fellow governors supported him. They had enjoyed his leadership as the leader of the governors forum, and felt he was going to replicate his leadership at the national level. On topic; You're right to an extent. Don't forget nairaland cuts across all social and educational classes. That means you're bound to come across both intellectual and half baked individuals here. On tribalism, I feel its reduced now compared to earlier years but the level of decorum would keep falling as you can't discuss serious matters with Nigerian users cutting across the ages 18 - 24. I noticed that majority of Nigerians who chose to be OBJECTIVE are not going to vote, simply because they're not IMPRESSED with the two presidential candidates.
