TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by TRVIJN:
I am not an authority on CIC matters but if your question is if the SPOUSES of Phd students have a higher chance, my answer is yes I believe they have a significantly higher chance and to your other question, most scholarships will at most cover all expenses of the candidate and not his/her spouse so the spouse applying for a trv/work permit as in the case of @Kemye would still need to show they have funds for say, a year (CAD10,000). However, the Phd student should provide proof of scholarship if as well if available, this will enable the visa officer evaluate and see that the spouse's coming will not necessarily cause a financial burden.
NB: I believe Phd students themselves even have a higher chance for study permit/trv (no particular proof o) but just using my common sense, Phd students, I think are higher assets for Canada as they know there are chances people would want to stay back after school and oyibo go always respect Phd because some of them if get only bachelors or less (I don't know if my thinking makes sense to you). again Phd students can apply for PR directly after they complete 2yrs of the program, no need for PGWP and the work experience thingy. I am not a Phd student oo, I am still dealing with Masters but I think from what I see here, my evaluation is a fair assessment of the chances.
Shadams: @Trv. Are you saying that PhD students have more chances? Do they have to present any financial statement if they are on scholarship?

Expecting to hear from you soonest...
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by TRVIJN:
Either his or yours or even both of your statements ( you too are a couple), unless you want to use sponsor-but I do not encourage this as you are married. CIC allows work permit to spouses so they can work and support the family while the other studies and this is clearly stated on their site so don't even be afraid. The only thing is you don't want to take chances that you don't have funds to take care of yourself for at least a while. Madam I don't mean to make you become complacent oh but i am already saying congratulations... I believe you have an over 85% chance of getting it. Just cross your Ts and dot your Is. carry your hubby along in every step as a Phd candidate I believe he will be very detailed and you can never pray enough.
Kemye: Thanks for your response. He is a PhD in USask and we don't have kids yet. Then, I will like to ask if it is his statement of account or mine that will be considered

TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 5 by TRVIJN:
I think you should apply to join him (open work permit) and not visit and yes you will need to show proof of funds (most likely by bank statement). What school does he attend and what level of studies is he undergoing? These questions may seem unnecessary, but I think that they may influence the outcome (I am not an expert) e.g. if your hubby is doing a Phd, the chances that you will be granted an open work permit may be significantly higher than with other levels of studies (Again read my words carefully). Do you have any kids? I think if you do it will bolster your application. Canada respects spouses and their union so even though it is so stressful in Nigeria to get these things, I believe that you will get the work permit if you dot your Is and cross your Ts. Best of luck and sample opinion from others who have been in your situation at a time.http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visas/spouses-conjoints.aspx
Kemye: Hello House,
My husband spoke with a CIC agent again yesterday  about my going to join him Canada. The guy told him I am eligible to apply for an OPEN WORK PERMIT here in Nigeria. All he needs to do is to send documents showing (study permit, etc) that he is  full-time student. I believe I still have to apply for a trv. The alternative thing is for me to apply for a visitor's visa, then  apply to work when I get there. Which do u think is a better option? Will CDHC request me to submit a bank statement? Is there anybody who has useful information on going to join one's spouse in Canada? Kindly help o

May be this may help you, that LOI has your study permit number that will be printed on your study permit. Even though records will be on their computer, it may cause you some hassle. I don't think the person will be deported, maybe the officer will refer you to his/her boss to make a decision/investigate. But I guess people will learn from this case if you will be allowed or not. Goodluck with the experiment.

Hi newacca,no vex for the delay. Visa na one thing but living and planning here na another.

On the Stouffville issue, yes it's true. LSBF is a great school and far better than Stouffville but bros if you plan to stay back here (through the Canadian Experience Class) , just know say LSBF no follow for the list of publicly funded Canadian colleges wey u fit use get PR status thru CEC. My advice is look for a public college (all those humber, george brown, seneca.....etc) or University and go study something else.Ask Siga, he will confirm what i am saying.Just send a PM if you wanna contact me, i no too dey dey on nairaland cos of school and things.

Possible reason(s) you were denied. No matter how small a company is, spending say N6m/N20m (~33% of liquidity or possibly profits-i'm just saying profits) on your education is a very important and critical decision for the company so it should be backed by very very strong reasons and accompanying documentation.remember results for 6 months may be enough to form an opinion on how healthy the company is for the year(company's financial performance)does your sponsor own 100% of the shares? If not is there proof the other shareholders were carried along or gave their blessings? What Return on Investment does the company expect from this seemingly make or break investment? Bro, here's what I say, unless you don't have these funds in a personal account of a sponsor with reasonable number of other dependents, think very well before you use a company as sponsor whoever may own it.
insight: Hello Hse, I appreciate your contributions here. I was denied last year (my first appl.) for financial reasons after three months of VO processing time. Still don't know specifically why they weren't convinced about the financial capability. My uncle who was my sponsor gave me his company's acct (he owns the company) with a balance of #20M plus copies of company docs and tax clearance.
This time having paid one semester fees mandated by school and now i have a new admission letter for the same one year post grad program for Sept start date,do you advise i can re-apply between now and March? Any implication for early application bearing in mind that VO sometimes hold docs for long as experienced by many last year?
Also,is it advisable to include my payment in the appl.? Advise pls.

Page 2/3 of the checklist (53_1_eng (CHECKLIST).pdf 'From the employer of the individual(s) providing you financial assistance for you program.Employer contact details and full street address of business location'
If you look at the 'proof of employment' part just below the part I quoted above(look at the actual checklist), you go see contents of a standard letter from employer.I have applied multiple times for my UK and Schegen visas, na the defacto formats bro. You don't need to convince me, just do what the checklist says cos na CDHC you need to convince. Getting your HR to issue a letter na very small thing and shouldn't be an issue of long discussion.Give your ward a good shot @ the Visa- do what they ask you for.

Na your hand e dey oooo cos some people dey get 'sponsor not credible'
surecan: Thanks for your assistance, all this information and more is already on my contract letter
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by TRVIJN: 2:40pm On Feb 07, 2013
Yes you can print on a plane paper however, you need to be introduced by your organisation. You have to request ur HR writes a letter addressed to CDHC and quoting ur position and annual remuneration.
If you don't include a letter introducing you, you will not only 'not be meeting the requirements' but you also wouldn't be making yourself credible, so take your time and do what is right.
surecan: Please i am the one sponsoring some body and where i work i have no access to letter head, can i just write a letter on a plane sheet with my office address
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by TRVIJN: 12:45pm On Feb 07, 2013
That one works in a company doesn't give him/her authorisation to write a personal letter in the capacity of the Organisation(using the org letter head). He can quote his office addy on the letter and attach his call card to it. Having said that, if his organisation is introducing him (this is actually a requirement by CDHC-where using a sponsor), they will need to do so on the letter headed paper and it would have to be signed by authorised persons within the organisation.
surecan: he work in a company and he dont have access to the letter head, what will b my best option

@kemdee From my bank,it will get there next day but due to the time difference it could get there same day if done early enough. whatever you choose to do, do fast.... don't let the plenty info get you confused... if i knew you, i could have helped you send all the cash same day but from different accounts...did same for Jokzoh in November.
earthgreeners: Madam do ur transaction today and submit ur telex copy, back it up with a letter...you can enquire about Standard IBTC , I heard its 2days......Not sure
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by TRVIJN: 10:13pm On Feb 04, 2013
Okay, but if your fees are over the equivalent of USD10,000 you need to check with ur bank to know if you can transfer more than USD10,000 per week. Don't wait until wed/thur...the earlier the better bro
kemdee: Yes, its direct transfer from my dad's domicillary account to the school's account...how long does that take. Would just submit the telex copy on friday and wait for CDHC's decision while I process the receipt from the school. Thanks
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by TRVIJN: 11:25am On Feb 04, 2013
Is the school 'viable' to CDHC in Nigeria - YES it is. Does it make sense to do that course after ur Msc? It lies on you(study plan to CDHC) to make us see how it will boost ur prospects in Nigeria.
Can you pursue PR thru CEC? Certainly. There is no ambiguity about this. If you check out cic.gc.ca you will see it as clear as possible
What are the job prospects? I don't know but @Siga and some research online can answer that ?for you.
jt2010: Siga and other Expert in the house, Please help throw more light into this plan??

I need your help with my plan to migrate to canada. I will be graduating with a Msc Information Technology from the University of Liverpool by July, 2013, but i intend to migrate to canada thus i intend to use the student visa route, which am hoping that i can later use to get canada PR. I plan seek admission from George Brown college for the following course " Information Systems Business Analyst Program (Postgraduate) or Wireless Networking Program (Postgraduate) ... Find link to the course: http://www.georgebrown.ca/T405-2013-2014/ or http://www.georgebrown.ca/T411-2013-2014/

My question to the expert in the house is:

Is the college and course considered viable enough by CHC Embassy in Nigeria?
Can the course allow me to seek CEC or PR after i complete the course?
What is the job prospect as it relates to the course!!!

Please help with your contribution.... before i consider seeking admission into the college.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by TRVIJN: 11:14am On Feb 04, 2013
Yes you can print the telex. I asked for a specific means of wire transfer because the timelines may differ. Find out if it is going to be a direct trsf from your domicillary account straight to the school's account or if it would require a Form A. All the same the earlier you do the transfer, the better (today is ur best bet as at now).
kemdee: Thanks for responding, I'm using bank to bank transfer so we are wiring the money to the school's bank account, then the school would update my student's account with the payment before I can get the receipt. Can't even wire all the money at once cos its way over the daily limit. Can I print out and submit this "telex" since the acknowledgement wld be sent to my dad's email?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by TRVIJN: 6:55am On Feb 04, 2013
Stall your actually submission to the CDHC until 8th so you have as much time as possible to get the receipt/confrimation from your school.if by thursday you don't have @ least a scanned copy of ur receipt, then submit the SWIFT Acknowledgement (telex) as proof-worst case is the ring you and ask for the receipt but if you don't meet the deadline, you may not be considered any further as written on your letter. What means are u using to make the payment? How long will it take ur bank? You should also consider these my last 2 questions as they may be critical to your meeting the deadline
kemdee: Hi every1. The deadline given by CDHC to resubmit my passport is 10th February which is a sunday, I just started making d wire transfers for my school fees to d school and they said it'll take 5business days before the payment wld reflect in my student account. I read somewhere on this thread that I can submit d telex copy from the bank, would d embassy be satisfied wiv ds till I can get the receipt from d school. And can I submit my passport n oda docs back on friday the 8th knowing dt it wld prbly get to d embassy on d 11th. Wld it be too late? Thanks
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by TRVIJN: 6:49am On Feb 04, 2013
Better safe than sorry. Get to VFS @ 8am, if you can, explain to someone there how urgent and it is and see if it makes that morning batch to CDHC(you can wait to see the UPS bus leave oo)if not, go to CDHC directly. The latter may be better but just so you try to follow the normal process, I recommend u try the former first. Prepare to report very late @ work. Wish you the best bro
kenniy: in other news..Please house, I need your opinion on this: I am due to resubmit my documents (after medical) on the 4th of February (thats monday).. On the instruction documents it says These must be received at this office by: 02/04/2013 ..verbatim.

considering if I submit to vfs on monday, it gets to "this office" by 5th.. I wanna know if this wouldnt be of any major consequence.. otherwise I take it to "this office" gehgeh in person on monday.. I dont think that would be right though, considering they sent the other conditions to be met to VFS after sending the medical instruction directly to my mail box.. am trying to be super cautious at this point.. lol
