You cannot legally work with the Visa issued to study a professional course in Canada,so I think the VO would really want to be satisfied on ur finances. Your sponsor should clearly affirm that he/she would sponsor you, have proof of sufficient funds to do this (pls note that they will also consider the fact that the sponsor would have other responsibities so it is important for ur sponsor to state how many dependents she has). Having proof of funds in your own account can also bolster the satisfaction.Include ur company documents,business account statements, possibly audited financial statements as well. Contact newacca (trace him on this thread) he will give you more help than I have

May-June/July 2013 - Write and pass your exams (I wish you success, but u have to earn it)
July/August 2013-When ur results come out. peruse this thread,ask all the questions. start applying to schools, contact the people on this thread (past,present(past @ that time)and future). Look for 2-3 people who have similar dreams and conditions as you and make them pals so you work together.

Please @frankysteve nd @lovesavvi who are your primary sponsors cos am concerned and trying to figure out what's delaying d response from CDHC cos ur sponsor cud also be a major factor.. Hope ur sponsors bear ur same surname and blood cos na dat one dey sweet CDHC for belle well well..

yungokus: Hahahaha Funny u!!....well there's no particular day in the week status change happens.. It could come anyday in the week and anytime during the day.. But once its past 3pm in anyday i.e. Mon-Fri.. Don't xpect any status change cos VAC closes by 3pm... And ur last question every application is processed as it comes..no preference for any particular study program.... Like u av rightly said I av carefully and bin studying CDHC's trend in responding to applications altho it myt not b so @ times.. But many at times av bin on track... My observations still goes thus.. Response mostly sometimes comes
10th - 11thweek = Rarely
12th week = Possibility/Probabilty
13th week = Almost Certain
14th week= Certain.. Be prayerful
After 14th= one will surely hear from dem any time to get ur docs bak but its always a negative news many times and still good news on very few times ..once someones docs exceeds dis time na serious prayers ooo.. This I have observed from 4persons on NL part 1-2 and to 3pple I know personally.

NB: I count the weeks starting from d week it got to d embassy.. For e.g Those whose docs got to the embassy 30th july-3rd August are in dier 14th week.. So d news is around d corner for dem @ most this week/mid next week.. This is my trend analysis.. Tho not accurate but one can trend on it as a fore armed guide!!

NB: Also rem its 19weeks to process application in Nigeria.. So if ones application exceeds 14th week.. How do one stand a chance to be called for medicals cos I blive we all know after meds it takes anoda 3-4weeks for the final verdict.. So by d permutations one can easily be knowing where d pendulum is swinging!

Can we get any trend analysis. more like answers to these questions

1. What day of the week do we have the most 'status changes' (you can go a step further to categorise the various status changes?
2. What time of the day is the most likely to get a status change?
3. Are applications for undergraduates processed faster than postgraduate applications (CDHC processes only)? i tend to believe this is the case

Just checked my status now and it has changed to "our application has been assessed by the Canadian High Commission/Consulate General of Canada and is being returned to the centre where you applied". I take it as my trv is ready!

if you have a payment schedule and it says $13,000 for 2 semesters, i think that is what you should pay. however, if it is possible for you to also make accommodation payments, you can do this also.

were you suggesting giving someone your money or did you mean that you want to know if there's someone (current student)there to aid the despacthing of your receipts after payment? the

You are saying something different from what I said. Please read my post again (just try and do it).
I didn't ask him to go to an M Eng immediately and he (skulboy didn't say that).
My first degree is in Electrical Engineering but I have built a career in a different field. All I am saying in simply english is if you have work experience,maybe some cerifications and training in a field, you can purse a career in that field irrespective of first degree. If you apply to a highly competitive program in a top school, you will see how all these criteria are taken into consideration. Having said that, if the case is not as Skulboy stated but as your example, I agree with you, he wud has even a lower chance @ getting the admission sef. Anyway I based my statement on Skulboy's case not your example

@Trv_IJN...have you ever heard about 'correlation' in Canada edu world?. Canada aint UK where you could change field anyhow. How do you expect someone who had Bsc in Econs to cope with Msc in Engineering. It's always easy for someone with Bsc Eng to go for other management programmes @ Msc level. CDHC doesn't joke with COURSE MISMATCH. If @skulboy goes with your stand, it's gonna be 1% chance.

I disagree with lillawow.

People can change their career paths and anyone who has been in the corporate world for a while will agree with me. I think the key thing is progress/pedigree you have in line with a career/academic studies in the area of your intended course of study. The embassies are also aware of this that is why in the student questionnaire (your blank cheque for stating your case) there is a part that askes 'Do you have academic prerequisites OR Work experience relevant to this program? If so LIST AND PROVIDE EVIDENCE.
Please Skulboy if you want to be a software Engineer, let no one stop you, Canadian embassy will not deny you because ur 1st degree is in Economics but if you cannot with your whole application prove ur educational goals, future plans and what you have done so far to achieve that, that is where you may have a problem.
Guys let's read the whole application instructions amd guidelines so we aren't told what someone thinks CDHC means but what they actually do mean.

Ps: we've seen lots of that on this thread and its parts. Your First degree has to be in accordance with what you wanna study. You'll stand a better chAnce if you have a professional certificate in software engineering/graphics design. Even at that, you wldnt be going for masters But a diploma prog.

Be objective. Ask and answer these questions to yourself
1. What do I want to do in terms of Education?(What are your educational goals)
2. Am I qualified for the course I want to study? Did I runs my other waec papers? Do I want to run into academic troubles in Canada? What subject(s) do I have strenghts in- that I don't need to runs?
3. Is it not better I take things step by step- starting with studying and passing my exams?
4. Will it be easy for me to convince others about my intentions to study in Canada (Convincing the VO) with the attitude I have shown on this thread?
Bros answer these questions truthfully and take my advice. You need to first of all STUDY AND PASS YOUR O LEVELS. Most of us giving you this advice have passed through a University, some are even in Canada and we have age and experience to say what we say. @ Aluta, I'm not sure you can apply for a study permit (student visa) I remember seeing some clauses/ exceptions for some medical academic courses. To be suren please look at the 'who should/can apply' section of the study visa section on CDHC site- that site will answer most if not all your questions. I can't really check it out atm but may later in the day.

alutacontinua: @justwise, i'm a nigerian but i'm not in the carribean rite now. D issue is dt would i be issued a student visa because i'm going to be doing the clinicals in the hospital, not in a school. Also, can i process the visa from here?

You need to get admission first, get your acceptance letter then make your student visa application . The student visa application processing time is 4-6 months so if your school resumes say, Sept 1, 2013. The latest you should submit your application is April 30, 2013. My advise therefore to you is to work on gaining the admission and getting the requisite documents from your school to aid your application and then gather all other documents. Read the thread from the begining but for now, channel your energies to getting admission.

All student visa applications are done in Lagos.But if you insist on visiting the Abuja office of Canadian Embassy, just have extra money cos you may/will end put having wasted all funds related to your trip to Abuja.
