You remember Yoruba's strategy in 2015? Vote Buhari, Think Osibanjo when you guys thought Buhari would die half-way so that your treacherous tribe would assume power? Now our program and game plan is, empower Fulani since we know they'll send Yoruba on exile in Republic Du Benin. It's good for politics to involve strategy to outwit your rivals the way you guys outwitted SE and SS in 2015. It's now our turn.
But same Buhari has been sending your people to grave. The recent killing in your region can only be rival by NE, yet you won't see that

No need. A southerner can never win without southern consensus and northern support. The north can NEVER give up power without southern unity. This is not 2015 when they were in the position of weakness so projecting ANY southern candidate is a waste of time. Presenting ANY Yoruba candidate is almost foolishness. So it is southern unity in favor of Igbo or Northern president in 2023.
You are too naive to understand politics and too emotionally unstable to make a coherent argument, otherwise you would know the North needs SW badly to retain the unity of this country.

Even Atiku would vote SW to ensure Nigeria does not disintegrate. The recent developments among the SW hope and aboad is a warning that the region is longer ready to play father Christmas in Nigeria project, if your region can't demand for it's share from Nigeria how is that Yoruba's problem?

You guys are politically naive and emotionally blind, just continue in your skirmishes, 2023 is not far

We all know that the north must present one candidate in either or both APC and PDP. The norther will back their fellow northerner irrespective of if they're in PDP or APC so the north already has won 2023. In reality, instead of a Yoruba, let the north win. As I said, they're the weak link in the south in all ramifications of the word.
Just imagine the bitterness in your submission. Yen yen yen, you will cry blood, SW will contest and there's nothing you can do about it.

Shameful, you are even hoping on how the north will vote in order to defeat SW, you are simply suggestion SE is inconsequential, you have already conceded defeat before the fight, now tell who is coward between SW and SE?

If other southerners start playing corny and asslicking politics like Yorubas, then till next 100 years no yoruba man can be president of Nigeria... Politics is a game of number, so forget all those ur long talk.

As it stands currently, South South & South East are one politically. If they choose to support any northern candidate come 2023 under PDP, then tell me how you guys can achieve that ur unrealistic presidential dream.

You guys will realise that u're on political isolation come 2023... As Buhari take congratulate Soludo (APGA candidate) that's how he will congratulate Atiku if he should contest against ur over hype Tinubu..

Average yoruba man think and reason like woman and sees that as smartness, that's why you don't learn from previous event's.
Your rant and emotional jabbing can't give you presidency, it is your work, dedication and commitment that can make others support you.

Why lumping SS together with SE? Does it mean your region is inconsequential to demand for presidency from Nigerians, people like you are the one ridiculing Igbo people.

Why is it your concern if SW is defeated in 2023, it is better to contest and lose than to cover yourself in your wife's rapper and watch the contest.

Politics › Re: Why The North Should Prepare To Rule Nigeria For A Long Time. by Ttalk: 2:00pm On Nov 10, 2021
Penguin2:
As 2015 Elections drew nigh, Tinubu led the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, a dominant party in the Southwest, into an alliance with CPC, a predominantly northern party, and other parties into an alliance that birthed the APC.

The APC went into the 2015 elections with Buhari, a northerner, as candidate and subsequently won the election.

But that came at the expense of the then president, Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner.

So, against southern interest, and against every reminder of Buhari’s antecedents of incompetence, majority of Southwest voters helped Buhari to power.

And that was a southerner lost power through the help of southerners.

Now, as the 2023 elections approach, discussions are on, on who should succeed Buhari and ironically, the region who threw Southern interest to the winds in 2015 seem to be at the forefront, championing southern interest. They have tried to remind all who cared to listen that it won’t be good for southern interest if another Northerner succeeds Buhari.

And you are forced to ask them, “where was your knowledge of southern interest in 2015?”.

Surreptitiously, these folks seem to talk about southern unity and interest when it will Favour them. And when it doesn’t, then work against and call it “sophistication”.

But in 2023, it’s either the Southwest endorses the Southeast for the presidency which would unite the entire Southern Nigeria behind an Igbo presidency, or power will go back to the north. F***k Southern unity and interest.

This is because any political watcher who wants to realistic with himself, knows that a southwest Presidential candidate won’t have the votes to guarantee him victory.

Let’s check things out a little,The Southwest is not even a sure straight victory for him not to talk of the north where he might be squaring up against PDP’s northern candidate. So if the north does not vote for a Yoruba candidate then he’s gone because he’s an orphan in the south.

But not so with the PDP candidate. With PDP candidate likely coming from the north, PDP is sure of at least half of northern votes plus the votes of Southsouth and Southeast and the PDP northern candidate will be declared winner.

Another thing you need to consider is that in 2015 when APC won, almost all northern influential political power broker were in APC. From Atiku, to Kwankwaso to Saraki to Tambuwal and many more. While others who were not fully into politics like IBB and co, provided tacit support. But these men are back to the PDP and that means a lot. Except you wanna live in denial.

Now, in 2031, after PDP’s candidate’s likely 8 year rule, the PDP might justifiably want to give its ticket to an Igbo man. Now the Southwest, fearing that Power equation may not favor them if a Yoruba man insisted on the APC ticket, might concede the ticket to a northerner who they would hope would help them win an Igbo PDP candidate in the elections.

Now, let’s assume the northern APC candidate wins the Presidency against the Igbo man in 2031, then the Igbos will wait for another 8 years to exert their own revenge in 2039 by supporting another northerner to take the PDP ticket instead of a Yoruba candidate winning the election.

And that’s how the vicious cycle would continue ad infinitum until maybe Nigeria disintegrates or the South comes to its senses.

But there’s a shorter route out of the whole mess; and that’s by the Southwest throwing their weight behind the Southeast bid for the presidency in 2023. With that, Igbo men would emerge candidates of both APC and PDP and whichever party that wins, it would be victory for the southeast and Southern unity would be cemented and whenever it is the Yorubas’ turn for power, the Igbos will throw their weight behind them.

Penguin is a bird of reason!
It is sad that your reasoning is purely sentmental.

Look, Yoruba know the game wellah, and one thing at a time in politics, Yoruba have not told you they would win in 2023, what they have done is to show interest and that is what sensible Igbo politician who want to contest should do.

Why are you pulling SW that is prepared down when you havent shown any interest?

Please stop disgracing Igbo race with this childish attitude, throwing away plate of food because your parent took a bite.

Does Nigeria practice a one party system where you expect every region to support one candidate?

Look, SW is never bothered whether North contest or not, what we are certain of is that SW has what it takes to slug it out with any region, politically, economically and educationally, SW is a partner in Nigeria project and will always remain so until the nation disintegrate. SW wouldn't succumb to your blackmail neither will it be intimidated by the north bullying.

My advice to you is to focus on how your region would present a credible and acceptable candidate to all Nigerians, until then, stop this southern unity nonsense you people are singing all about

Omicron007:
The Anambra gubernatorial election has been the talking point of Nigeria's politics for several months now. The polity has been heated due to the calibre of the contestants, the defection games and the threat of boycotting the election by IPOB.

There have been a lot of jamboree regarding the campaigns both online and offline.

The candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Godwin Maduka however, stands out for me.
The man is relatively new on the political scene but he managed to pull attention online.
He received numerous awards from different bodies and he was constantly in the news.
Our very own AlexxReports stood by him all through the campaign and his moniker was very active on this forum.

However, the election has come and gone, and results are trickling in from the nook and crannies of the state.
From early results, Godwin Maduka has so far had an abyssmal performance.

What lessons can you learn from this man's story?
You have raised a very pertinent question and unlike many who have nothing to say but to turn every discussion to tribal bashing.

There are some criteria required if you want to excel in political turf in Nigeria.

Be ruthless. Nigeria politics is not for nice man, neither it is for gentleman but for a strong willed person. It is not equally for intellectual because the more educated you are the more refine you become as you may consider some actions in politics as stupid.

Calculative moves. It is very useless in Nigeria to think charity and donation to massess would give you a political win, what that does is to give you popularity that would attract some vocal praise singers but irrelevant strata of people to your side. Sadly attracting such people would place you against the political elites of the society

Popular party. Regardless of your popularity, you need a very strong political platform in order to win popular vote. The case of president Buhari who lost 3 national election before becoming president is a good reference here.

Emotional stability. This would be a very eye opener to many of our Igbo brothers especially on Nairaland who have been sentimental in their political analysis, some of them look at politics as mere arithmetic exercise rather than accepting it as a complex calculus. Politics requires you to exploit your strong point rather than focusing on your opponent weaknesses. In Nigeria, such weaknesses doesn't matter when it comes to chosing their leader. The electorates are shortsighted and rely on pecuniary gain in making political decision.

Your eligible voters are your market space, your product must reach them, the very poor and uneducated people of the society are the one that takes voting serious while others are just online noisemakers who doesn't believe that their participation could change the narratives for better

Everything boils down to illiteracy. These two regions, currently so hot with violence and killings have their root cause to illiteracy.

If children in the north are made to attend good schools instead of being an almajiri on the streets begging, the north wouldn’t have degenerated to this point. Same applies to the pple of South East,if the Ibo boys are being encouraged to attend good schools instead of encouraging only their girls, the region wouldn’t have deteriorated to it’s present State. In the South East,we hear and see how young boys are pushed to go learn trade by fire by force...most eventually drop out to become nuisance to the society and their region as a whole.

In essence, illiteracy is the known bedrock of all these chaos in the two regions.

The South West pple will continue to attend school and be useful...reason why d region is currently at peace.

The DSS might be the ones who recorded this video and now spreading it.

Their intent is to use it to cause some havoc, using this innocent orji as their justification.

They will go ahead and shoot up innocent young people around Anambra state, saying they are disrupting the elections.

They want to use this story to rig Anambra state elections in favor of APC.

Another fulani motive for this propaganda is the money. Do you know how much is realized daily from the numerous checkpoints they are mounting around South east, in the last one month, up to 10 new checkpoints has been needlessly mounted in Anambra state alone, preventing movement, slowing people down and collecting money openly in the long queues.

Check very well, unknown gunmen has been appearing in Anambra state only on popular road junctions, Ekwulobia, Nkpor, Nnobi and other strategic spots in the state, their plan is to spread fear as far as possible, we call it scaremongering. They want everyone to panic and run, testing the resistance of the masses.

They also use several social media outlets, radio and TV news casts to announce all the gory details of the attacks, aiming to scare more people into believing that the state is unsafe.

In Naira land , news against IPOB hit the front page so fast after each attack, with the faces of Igbos killed displayed openly. The latest videos to speak igbo in the terror videos made a lot of people to believe they are desperate to frame IPOB. Are they working under instructions from the information ministry?

Awori People: A brief history and belief of the original indigenes of Lagos
October 26th 2021, 8:34:00 am

King Oduduwa had given Olofin a mud plate, instructing him to place it on the water and follow it until it sank into the river.

Awori people
Awori people
The Aworis are the original indigenes of Lagos.

Origin of Awori people

Legend has it that Prince Olofin and his followers left the palace of King Oduduwa in Ile-Ife and migrated southward along a river.

It is said that several days after leaving Ile-Ife, the plate suddenly stopped near Olokemeji near present-day Abeokuta. And after seventeen days, it began moving again.

It would later stop for another seventeen days at Oke-Ata.

At the end of seventeen days, the mud plate began moving again, only to stop again on the southern outskirts of present-day Abeokuta, where it stayed for another seventeen days.

It was here some of Olofin's followers decided to remain. This group of people was under the leadership of a man named Osho Aro-bi-ologbo-egan.

The mud plate would continue again down the river, only to stop for the fourth time at Isheri, where it remained for a much longer period of time.

Owing to this, Olofin began instructing his followers to begin setting up a permanent settlement, but after 289 days (17 x 17) the plate began moving again.

And when it did, only a few followers joined Olofin to follow the plate. The rest of the group decided to stay behind.

They had only journeyed for two days when the plate stopped briefly at Iddo in Lagos.

It was at Idumota in central Lagos that the mud plate sank into the bottom. After whirling on the water.

When Olofin returned to Iddo to meet his group, it is said that they’d asked him where the plate was. And in answering, he said, "Awo Ti Ri" meaning "The plate has sunk". This is how the name Awori is said to have come into being.

The Awori is a tribe of the Yoruba people speaking a distinct dialect of the Yoruba language. And they are presently found in both Ogun State and Lagos State, Nigeria.

Whatever you say to make you happy but it diminishes you when you make conjesture words and call it history.

Pocket all those nonsense you say about Awori and Lagos State.

For your information, Awori, Ijebu and Egun are owner of all Land in Lagos and all can trace thier origin from other Yoruba ancient towns. For instance most of Awori have their lineage linked with Ife, other have their origin from Egba. For example most of town and villages in Ife are exact names you found in some towns and districts in Lagos.

Not only that, there are festival that brings all these towns together. Do you even know there are some dinstincts words you can only found in Ife and Awori language. My people yearly travel to Ife as well receive Ife traditional to celebrate many festivals.

So dont dabble into issue you know nothing about. Staying 100years in Yoruba land can never make you a Yoruba person, you won't understand our culture and heritage because we are distinct people
