ezzylee: Hey.... Good morning.
I'm not in Canada but I feel IT security is really in demand. With the rate at which we store data (in large amount), and rate at which people (hackers) also try to steal this data, IT security peeps are in demand. Organisations (whether financial, medical, hospitality, government, etc) are starting to see the need for these people in order to safeguard their information and also to respond to data breaches within their organisations.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks. quote author=Yooku post=59837280] Simple....Go and get an education in IT Business Analysis. I know at least Conestoga College in Kitchener has an ITBA PGC/Diploma program[/quote]@ezzylee & yooku, Thanks very much. I just needed to know the exact certifications am required to do. Will do some research anyway. Peace! |

Nicoletheo: Hello All, Greetings to all the Elders in the house. I am Nicole and currently work as an IT Business Analyst in an Investment House. I am Female and 31. I have a master degree from one of the top 10 schools in the UK, and first degree in Computer Science and Law. I've worked as a BA for 5 years with ITIL , CBAP and other certifications under my belt. While my fiancée works in a Bank in Treasury. His first degree is in an Political Science but he's worked in the Treasury arm of the bank for about 3 years. Now my dilemma is , how feasible would it be for him to get a job? Since we are both considering relocating. He's an amazing man but sometimes when I remember that his line of work does not sell as fast as IT , I get discouraged about settling down permanently with him. I feel because I have worked with IT professionals for most of my working life, I believe such skills are more in demand. Asides the job thingy, my fiancée is one of the most amazing and selfless individuals ive ever met.
We are considering getting married in October 2018 Hi Nicoletheo, apologies for digressing a bit. Please what pathway would you advise someone who works in a Bank and want to switch IT to follow in order to become an IT Business Analyst? Thanks |

Ehrnie: Hi - The request for a remark must be made within six weeks of the date shown on your Test Report Form (TRF). If you are out of date (which is clearly the case now), you cannot ask for a remark. So I decided to give it a trial to request for a remark after almost a year. Just giving it a shot! Here's my mail to them: .................................................................................... Hello, I write to humbly crave your indulgence to, on my behalf, get an exceptional approval to remark my IELTS result of 20 August 2016. I sat for IELTS exam on 4 June 2016 (Candidate no 003376 and my result was L 6.0, R 6.5, W 6.5, S 7.0. However, I wasn't satisfied with the result as it wasn't suitable for the purpose it was written (Immigration to Canada). Hence, I enrolled again and sat for another exam on 20 August 2016. The result, which was L 7.5, R 6.0, W 7.0, S 7.0, was also not up to the desired result. I intended to request for a remark back then but couldn't do so due to some circumstances. And now, I am ready for a remark and hereby appeal that you grant my request am I'm aware that one can only request for a remark six weeks after the result is released. I look forward to receiving a favourable response from you. Thank you. Regards, .......................................................................................... Will keep you guys posted. |

Career › Re: Change In Career From A Banker To An IT Professional by tundechange(op): 7:03pm On Jul 22, 2017 |
Barywhyte: Exactly! That's the way to go. Sysadmin! I suggest you start with comptia+linux . There is track for that. I thought it 2 years ago in Ibadan. Sorry that I'm biased towards Linux! The 90% world IT infrastructure sit comfortably on Linux kernel. Microsoft is only good for user friendly stuff ( whatever that means). Let your learning platform for sysadmin be Linux not windows. It's a suggestion o. ok, can i just go for Comptia Linux+ straight away or i still have to go thru A+ et N+ as prerequisites? |
Career › Re: Change In Career From A Banker To An IT Professional by tundechange(op): 5:34pm On Jul 22, 2017 |
Barywhyte: Op good move! I took same decision in 2014 after I lost my job as Gas Station manager. But then I knew precisely what I wanted to do. I knew about Linux before then. So I dua-boot my laptop with Ubuntu and I started learning Linux leveraging on free course on www.edx.org . Although along the line I had to take up a teaching just as a matter of survival but I never let go of my desire to continue to learn Linux. Even though I'm yet to get a first job as Linux system administrator , I'm very proficient in both redhat as well as Ubuntu (there are fundamental differences between these two Linux distro.) . And I have a couple of droplets set up with EC2 AWS and digitalocean (these are cloud servers). In addition I also learned Ansible automation tool which allow sysadmins to manage several servers with minimal effort. I'm very happy with my progress so far and I'm absolutely confident of brighter future in the IT world. It's the future of the world and so many things are changing dramatically. It depends on your interest and future plan. This field is very vast but honestly I will suggest you take a look at open source technology. One area I wouldn't advise you to consider is programming. I have my reason.
Good luck Op. @barywhite, thanks so much for the inspiration. I pray that your efforts in life will be crowned with God's grace. Have actually done some research work and decided to start with Comptia A+, proceed to Comptia N+ and subsequently CCNA. I wish to be major in System/Network Administrator/Technician and Hardware maintenance/repairs.....I hope I am on the right track. |

geebaby10: Hello All. Please I have a question. I have gotten ITA and I am preparing my documents for submission this week or next week. I am the principal applicant but I am going with my husband. We did our medicals and mine was good but he has high BP and we were not able to get it down all day. My question is this- How much does his high BP (150/100)affect our chances of positive feedback on our application?
Also please is there a whatsapp group I can join? I don't think this will affect you or influence your medical report in a negative way. High bp isn't a serious medical condition. In case you are still in doubt, let your hubby rest for 2 weeks, no stress, no serious physical activities, he should eat more fruits (watermelon), he should take his mind off your PR application, etc. Then go for another check. He would be fine. |

obiaguna: With all due respect, this is not in any way well detailed or inspiring. One would have expected you to list the steps you took and skills you acquired that qualified you for the IT job. How long did it take you? What specialisation did you choose and why? How did you handle the interviews and all that. I believe the OP was looking to see all these things and you didnt touch them in your reply. I would be very grateful if you can take your time to highlight the steps you took. Thanks. Thanks @obiaguna, u read my mind. @egunmogaji, would be nice if you can do as stated above. Thanks |
