Programming › Re: Thinking Of Dropping Out Of College To Focus On Programming by TundeChris: 10:01am On May 28, 2021 |
Discord: Hi Nairalanders, kindly need your advice, please.
I am currently in my second year studying a five years course in a federal university, I have no interest in what I am studying, I got good grades tho. Just doing it because that is what my parents want me to do. I have no passion for it, oftentimes I feel I am just wasting my time in school.
I love programming and would love to drop out of uni to focus on it and give my all to it. Seeing a lot of graduates living from hand to mouth, struggling to earn a living is truly not encouraging. Why not switch to computer science |

ecomalchemist: Imma keep it real with you Sonny, don't venture into programming if you don't have money for data or good food.
E get why.
There are times you'd just smash your PC and scream fuckit, I want out when you can't debug a line of code...been there, done that.
Secondly, you need to be on some NOOTRPOICS (cognitive enhancement drugs...adderrall, modafinil, etc)
Here are some gems you can fuccc with, cheers.
You might want to listen to BLESSED (schoolboy Q ft Kendrick Lamar) while reading this while you light up a blunt, it'd help you a lot
Know this and know peace.
you can hit the ground running with a few tips below I you don't have any profitable venture at the monent, this..can be applied to almost anything if you think critically.
imma keep it real with you like my brother from another mother, The educational system in Nigeria has been watered down a great deal but there are still opportunities for grassroot hustlers, best believe that.
All you need now is a hustler's ambition / mindset, you need to grind like one who has no mother or father, its cold out there.
In Nigeria, there are two classes of people (Living things and non living things)...you need to be amongst the living and stop whinning and complaining about this and that, nobody has it easy. If everyone comes to Nairaland beer parlor with his or her story, you go thank God for your life.
Bum imma share some gems with you real quick and if you are street wise, you will take action immediately.
If you must make it in Nigeria, you must think like an OUTLAW. push your fine boy and degree aside, roll up your sleeves and hit the ground running.
however, If you are techy (digital marketing, ecommerce, mini importation, UI / UX, Graphics Design, Video editing)
If you are dead broke don't venture into programming, you cannot effectively learn programming on an empty stomach with lack of data
If you are hands on Plumbing, woodwork, electrical, interior design solar design and installation, phone and laptop repair
Let me give you a brotherly advice, and I hope you work on it... First of all I counsel people and I have done that on nairaland for a while... I have met great and good guys... I dropped a story about my experience teaching in two schools as a corper and would not mind partnering with schools in abuja, but some accused me of looking for teaching job... Never ever mind what people say... Back to the matter... As a graduate, teaching and earning 15k, e no bad... But once you have a good (android) phone, go to any car stand of your choice around your area... Listen well, any good car stand and ask to see the manager... Tell him you want to help him market his cars and get good buyers... 90% of car stand managers will sign u on... Tel him you will be paid a small commission after sales... Pick up your phone, snap as many cars as your phone memory can take, open a dedicated twitter ac, IG ac, Facebook ac, WhatsApp ac, ac etc... Take out time to post this cars, make sure you have the actual prices of this cars... You can add as much as #250k on it... Bring down the negotiations to as low as making #50k if need be just so I can sell. Set your monthly target... I assure you, if you get I client in a month, u make around #100,000k once you start growing, you can get as much as 5-10 client from all over the country and that hits you over #1m for just helping others sell their cars, Note all you invested was your time, energy, phone and data... No big financial capital... Do not restrict yourself to cars, go for industrial machines as well, caterpillars, mikano gens, any thing, then you look for those big companies that need them and try to call their attention to it or market it to them... You may not sell in 3 months but when you manage to get a client to buy just 1 caterpillars, my brother you will instantly forget that u suffered before... A friend of mine was marketing a silo for a local wielder, he received a call all the way from kebbi state, the purchase was made in Ilorin, he made #1.8 mil from buyers and #400k from seller... He still got a referral from that deal. Wake up bro... Within a month or two, come and pay (tite). I drive uber/bolt in abuja, market cars, sell commodities such as beans, maize, wheat, ginger, onions, name it... In bags and tonnes And I make nothing less than half a mil monthly...We all blessed my nigga !
Reach me privately if you are interested in gadget importation and sales from US.
Whatsapp - 0.8.1.1.9.7.5.6.1.4.4. Lool. If I calculate how much data I spent on my own to learn. Honestly it’ should be in the range of say 400k. The enhancement drug is also a temptation, I actually did search, it was crazy!!! But I drink just green tea anyway. Tough road, but rewarding. Op please stay in school and code everyday. At least your parents would sponsor your programming path indirectly. Make sure you do well on your first degree too though (a 2:1 or nothing) otherwise, you will regret it. Scholarships for relocation are all dependent on a good first degree, don’t deceive yourself |

emmaobi2: Good evening everyone Trust we all had a good day There's something bothering me I need answers too...
Can a man at d age of 47 still get a job? I know of a man who started software engineering at 47 years old and the last I heard, he was the CTO in his company after some years. Age isn’t a big deal if you don’t let it get in the way of your productivity. Also read of a guy who got a job at google at that age. Can’t give up on your aspirations because of age. |

Please i would appreciate if anyone who is more informed than i am , could please explain to me. Well because you can’t earn 250,000 dollars yearly as a wordpress designer. Go for React JS btw |
Family › Re: Help! I Want To Leave My Wife by TundeChris: 8:26pm On May 01, 2021 |
OfeAchi: BACKGROUND:
I had a decent job before I met her and I was responsible for all the decisions I took, which mostly led to favourable outcomes. However when I met her and began a relationship, I wasn't having the freedom I needed. Any decision I wanted to take without her authorization always ended badly. For example there was a period I wanted to jointly rent an apartment with a male friend of mine. She strongly opposed this but I still went ahead to pay rent. Unfortunately for me, within four months my friend had some issues with landlord and we were both evicted from the apartment. (although I got compensated)
Another instance was when I got paid some bonuses from company and decided to invest in some crypto projects during their ICOs (in 2017). I did some market analysis of these crypto projects before my decision to invest, only for her to advice me against it. She said we should instead, use the money to start farming. I didn't listen to her and went ahead to invest. THE RESULT: the investment that was supposed to take me to the moon now became more worthless than tissue paper! I shed tears because of this.
I now decided to get rid of her, but all plans of mine proved abortive. The more I tried to get her out of my life, the more we were brought together. Can you believe that the day I finally proposed to her was the very same day I tried to make out with an old girlfriend?
A friend of mine went to consult an ifa priest, who told him that my fiance has a cloud of good fortunes around her. But I don't believe in those spiritual mumbo-jumbos! I was determined to leave her. This made me begin applying for jobs in other states and towns, but nothing came forth. I even went for interview/test but didn't scale through. Some weeks later, she told me that she wasn't in support of me getting job in another town (she says she was scared of losing me).
Did you know? the time I decided to remove the thoughts of leaving her from mind and fully accept her into my life, was the time that I finally got a better job in another city!
MARRIAGE We got married in 2019 and I was of the mindset that since she may be an ogbanje, therefore things would work in my favour and I would become a millionaire very quickly, but that's not the case.
Since marriage, any decision I take without her approval always leads to disaster! I wanted to invest in a partnership deal and told her about it but she disapproved and said I should save the money instead. I went ahead to invest and I lost 400k! Same for other decisions in the house, the outcome was always negative whenever I don't heed her advice.
I hate all this! I'm a full grown man. Why should my life be based on the decisions of a woman? I feel like I'm no longer in control of my life. I'm about to take a car loan from my company in order to escape this constant public commute and trekking but she has vehemently disapproved, that I should instead save for another year or two before buying car. But I still won't listen to her! If the loan ends in a disaster, I have decided that I would abandon this marriage and relocate to another country. A country where voodoo and religious mumbo-jumbo do not exist, so that I can be in full control of my life!
.......PS: we have a year old baby girl. Maybe I could be sending monthly upkeep from this new country I intend to relocate to.
Able readers, is my final decision a good one? Lol, she just married a headstrong unwise man. She’s smarter, listen to her. Plus learn to take accountability for your own stupid choices. I bet in your mind she went to crash a crypto market Some women dey try o!!! |

AntiNigerian: you don't really need to be that tall... If you're like 6'3(that's my height) and you have skills, then you're good To choose a Nigerian to play basketball in Europe at elite level is unusual, in fact a miracle. So if you are lucky, it doesn’t mean it’s a viable advice or sure path to succeed when you compare it to being educated. |

AntiNigerian: simply say the business world won't be open for you. Degrees are for those who want to slave under someone. For those who want to be masters of themselves, they don't need that shit. Been saving in eth since I was in school and now name profit by trading it. My degree was dumped.. didn't need it anyway At least you had a degree to dump. Now, if you didn’t and want to relocate to another nation as a businessman Us- you have to have up to 10 million dollars (I believe) to invest to get an opportunity for a green card via that route. Canada runs into hundreds of thousand CAD to invest to get a PR opportunity as an investor. Ireland, UK same thing. How many percentage of businessmen can boast of such to tie down for PR? Literally maybe only 10% of the society. Majority can only dream but guess what a many well educated people are able to get anywhere they choose to and after settling in a good society could catch up . |

Teejeybaba: My mind full of depression, anytime i remembered what students passed through before you can get any certificate in my dear country Nigeria. After all this struggle, someone will still find it difficult to get a job. Some will still go ahead for their masters or Phd at the end you still find yourself without job. My thoughts now was, should the less privileged person just go for ND and also acquire skill work?. It is. Don’t be fooled. If you have no degree, the world won’t be open to you. The Nigerians in Canada today, UK etc are there because of their degrees. And even more a good result is important too. EDUCATION IS KEY!! |

Faber: My brother you have said it all. There's this girl that I met some years ago. This girl was so feminine, malleable and loyal that I almost lost focus chasing her. She was still staying with her parents then. Due to career and other stuffs I moved out of her location. And we lost contact. That was 3 years ago. Just last year I stumbled on one of her friends then. She told me that Cyndi is now married. Without mincing words I was very sad and sullen. Till today I don't think I will ever meet a girl as feminine and lovely as Cyndi.
Look at Jose Mourinho for example his wife is from Angola. Very humble and they have bee. Married for 36yrs. Look at Mark Zuckerberg, his wife is an Asian-American. If you see the wife you will never believe the husband is a millionaire talk more of 5th richest person on Earth. They got married in a private chapel with only family members present. Look at Lionel Messi, the wife is humble, humane and homely. That's what great men want in a woman not ur drama, sfishness and attitude. Exactly! Girls like cyndi don’t stay in the dating market for too long bro. God will provide such women for us. I don’t know who taught women this bad attitude works, makes no sense. |

Faber: You talking what's your value outside Facebook, Nairaland and other social media platforms?
All una value begins and ends on social media. If your phone spoil now or get lost or stolen. I bet my kidney you will go to any length to buy a new phone. You cannot live 3 days without the Facebook and co.
So una value begins and ends on social media looking for likes and shares. You are not different from your folks. Don't sound as if you are a superwoman
When for sure na another yeye female talking Women hold access to sex and men hold access to marriage/relationship. Women need to understand that men don’t care about that you are a firebrand career woman. That is a good bragging rights for your girlfriends. Men want women who are feminine and agreeable (I.e not argumentative, and someone who brings peace). Men are not scarce, wives are. And when a man sees one, he takes her quickly. |

we exchanged numbers and she showed genuine concern but its so fuxked up i cant dare ring her
am such a loser Research shows men usually get into their prime financially/ socially between ages 30-35 while ladies tend to hit get it earlier. I assume we as men tend to have quite humongous dreams and we tend to try different things along the way. Your thing should be to keep growing consistently and stop comparing yourself with other people. Get your craft right (IT, BUSINESS, ENGINEERING, ARCHITECHTURE etc), whatever has a real future and put in work everyday to get better at it and in no time she, her friends, peers would be looking at you like you are freshly baked cake. If you get it right on time, you don't have to be 30 before you make it big. That is just statistics. Plus next time always dress well no matter where you are going. How you dress is how you will be addressed. |

PeachtreeReside: Lolz!
Naivete issa buzzkiller.
Why do you think women lie about their past?
Bro , to take this stance you must be a virgin and celibate.
Don't subject yourself to needless mental torture about a woman's sexual history especially if you are not a saint or a born again virgin. Neither celebate nor a virgin. Neither am was I born yesterday. If you interact with people, you can judge their character to a good extent. For me, I don't care she is a Virgin or not, I am more concerned about her character. What mindset did she have when she was racking up them bodies. Has that changed? As a man or woman, you deserve to know to make a good decision on whether you have a future together. A girl who cheated on her ex's because she was bored will probably cheat on you. A girl who had a LovePeddler phase and is looking to settle down and is disciplined and trust worthy might be a better choice. It is about the mindset, it is about basic decency if she would be the mother of my kids. NO man wants to marry a woman with an extensive list of men btw, especially a man who is going somewhere in life. |

For someone that is damageyto open up to you is the first step to healing and the person's willingness to move on. Babe, the ladys problems run deeper than her possibility of getting pregnant. Getting pregnant 1, 2, 3, 4 times and aborting them says a lot about her character and decision making. One time is a mistake, but 2, 3. About opening up, well, honest is what we are supposed to be. I respect her for opening up, but I would not advice him to go forward with it until he is totally satisfied that she is really free of all these issues. |

PeachtreeReside: What if she doesn't ?
What if it's the holy guy shooting blanks or with low seif esteem? Well can you tell your son or baby brother to marry a girl who has had 4 abortions for a man? Blanks or no blanks, she has been reckless and actions have consequences. It is low self esteem that would make a man accept a woman like that. A high value man would not accept that. It's about having standards, Sis. You dont give your womb to a guy 4 times. 4 good times to a man who isnt married to you, Cmon. |
