Basically, spiritual gift is a supernatural enablement given to a Christian in order to function in the body of Christ. It is also a supernatural endowment that makes a believer be of benefit to the Church.

However, there is no spiritual gift that is greater than the other. The gift of healing is not greater than the gift of teaching. All these gifts are given for edification of the Body of Christ.

Nevertheless, we shall consider 6 basic facts about Spiritual Gift.


Rudiments Of Spiritual Gift
• Firstly, Spiritual Gifts Come By Grace Not By Effort
Romans 12:6
[6]Having then gifts differing according to the GRACE THAT IS GIVE TO US, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

Honestly, they are not what you acquire by learning. They are given directly by God. And they are not gotten through intensive effort. You may love the gift of prophecy and may not have it. Because it is God who determines who He gives His gift to.

Grace is the determinant of the distribution of gift before God. Spiritual gifts are graciously given to people. That is why one believer can have many spiritual gifts. Don’t be jealous of him because they are divinely given to him.

Many people assume talents and spiritual gifts are the same. This assertion is not true.

Talents are natural endowment given to every human being irrespective of one’s religion. However, spiritual gifts are given to people who have given their lives to Christ.

An unbeliever can have talent and he or she can use it to make money for himself/herself. But spiritual gift is not for making money. They are given for edification of the saints.

• These Gifts Are Not Given For Show-off Or Boasting
Romans 12:3
[3]For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, NOT TO THINK OF HIMSELF MORE HIGHLY than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Before the Apostle Paul wrote about Spiritual gifts in Romans Chapter 12. He made sure he wrote about humility. Because Spiritual gift can get its carrier puffed up.

As a believer, you don’t use your spiritual gifts to boast. You are not expected to begin to exhort yourself by mentioning the arrays of gifts that you have. No Christian is supposed to be bragging, boasting or showboating his or her spiritual gift.

Jesus has given every believer the grace to minister healing to the sick and raise the dead. He said before he left, that believers would be able to heal the sick.

He says;

Mark 16:18
[18]They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; THEY SHALL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK AND THEY SHALL RECOVER.

Jesus did not say that it is only the so-called ministers of the gospel that would raise the dead. But everyone who believes in Him.

Also, He said to the disciples that as He sent them off to preach that;

And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, RAISE THE DEAD, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

So, we have been given the authority to hijack mankind from the clutches of sudden death and sickness. No Christian is here on earth to look nice and beautiful alone.

But believers are here on earth to exercise dominion over every work of the devil. You and I can raise the dead and heal the sick if we have given our lives to Christ.

Only Jesus
Biblically, be reminded that it is only Jesus that hold the power of death and hades (Rev 1:18). Nobody else can bring back to life except Jesus.

Here, Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw the leper. Anyone who doesn’t have compassion for the sick cannot tap into God’s Anointing to heal the them.

Compassion is the passion that pushes you to draw from God’s Anointing. The power of God is always available but if you don't love the sick, you can’t heal them.

More so, if you don’t love the dead, you can’t raise them. Until you have the heart for people’s healing, God cannot use you.

Fact: No Compassion, No Healing
Today, you see many preachers who want to raise the dead in order to have fame. They really want to minister healing to people because they want to be famous and wealthy.

Whereas, that is not how to manifest God’s power. Let’s have the heart for the well-being of the people.

Furthermore, anytime you pray to God to help you heal someone. Firstly, He will check the motive behind your prayer. Be reminded that God looks into the heart and not to the outward appearance.

In other words, before healing can take place through you, be compassionate.

Statistically, there are roughly 29,000 successful suicides in the United States each year; compared to 19,000 murders and 13,000 AIDS related deaths.

Suicide has never been a solution to any problem. Rather, it makes whoever the deceased leaves behind to grief and mourn.

Honestly, there are suicidal behaviors to look out for in anyone who is on the verge of committing suicide. There are indications that a person is considering suicide.

And I'm writing this so that we can also help at reducing the rate at which suicide is committed in this country.

If you notice any of these signs, please seek help from professionals or spiritual leaders.

These are the suicidal signs/symptoms;
• Hopelessness
Acts 16:27
[27]And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and SEEING THE PRISON DOORS OPEN, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

When the Philippian jailor woke up and could not find Paul and Silas. He lost hope and thought the next thing for him to do was to kill himself.

He lost hope immediately that he did not even bother to find them.

The first suicidal sign is hopelessness. Listen, when you get to a point where you have no hope. It's a point you don't believe that your tomorrow will be greater than today. Beware!

There is always light at the end of a tunnel. The Bible says, hope maketh not ashamed. The devil will try as much as possible to blind your eyes to golden opportunities that abound.

Any man who says he doesn't hope things will be better is very close to committing suicide. We must try to help him.

Identifying The Sources Of Dreams

One of the proofs of hopelessness is to give up. The jailor refused to find Paul and Silas. Therefore, he gave up.

So, when a man gives up trying, struggling and praying to make things better he is at risk for suicide.

Realistically, one will want to leave this world by killing himself/herself when he sees nothing good in this world.

Let's look out for this sign in people who are very closed to us.

Hopelessness is the pregnancy that gives birth to suicide. To avoid suicide, be hopeful for a better tomorrow.
• Constant statement about suicide
1 Samuel 31:4
[4]Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, DRAW THY SWORD, AND THRUST ME THROUGH THEREWITH; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. THEREFORE SAUL TOOK A SWORD, AND FELL UPON IT.

In this story, Saul wanted to die and he told his armour bearer about it. He wanted to die and he made it known to someone who was closed to him at that moment.

Afterwards, King Saul ended up killing himself(suicide). So, it's possible to know who is at risk for suicide by what they say.

Obviously, it is not everyone who wants to commit suicide that will talk about it.

However, there are some people who will talk about it before they commit it.

For instance, when your friend approaches you and begins to say; "I'll kill myself someday." Please, do not abandon such person.

You can refer him to someone who can help him.

Find out what his issues are and how you can be of help. Do not trivialise the issues of those who always say to you that; they are going to kill themselves someday.

I have heard of many stories from the friends of those who committed suicide.

Some of them once said that his friend told him he was going to commit suicide one day but he thought it was a joke. He laughed it off.

A day after, the man committed suicide and died.

Therefore, Whoever says to you he is going to commit suicide. Move closer to him and make sure you help him.


• Frequent Loneliness
1 Kings 19:4
[4]But he himself went a day's journey into the WILDERNESS, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

In this above sighted passage, Elijah went into the wilderness when he wanted God to kill him.

Elijah did not stay where many people were. He left his place. He chose to stay alone. So, he might die alone.

Till today, people still use this strategy whenever they are about to commit suicide.

People like that would separate themselves from group of people and choose to die alone.

Beware! If you notice someone who loves staying around people.

All of a sudden, that person now steers clear of people. Beware! He/she might be contemplating suicide.

Honestly, there is propensity for those who live all alone to commit suicide.

Those who are lonely are the ones that are more tempted with suicidal thought. Let's try and be around people.

Suicide thought easily gains entrance into the hearts of lonely people.

One of suicidal signs is frequent loneliness.

When people withdraw unnecessarily from the midst of people to stay alone frequently. We need to reach out to them and find out what's wrong with them.

• Worthlessness
1 Kings 19:4

Elijah did not see anything in him that made him more better than his forefathers. He had lost his sense of worth.

He could not see anything good in his life. He saw himself as a worthless man.

Statement like "I am good for nothing," "I cannot make it," "I am not useful," and so on.

Are the statements that reveal the state of man's worthlessness. Every human being has value and every human being is useful.

Worthlessness will make you concentrate more on your weaknesses than on your strengths.

My friend, you are highly valued. Work on yourself and increase your value.

So, any time people tell you they are worthless.


• Depression

Depression is an impetus for suicide. When a person gets depressed, he will always be sad.

He will think and think until he is fed up till he commits suicide.

Basically, depression is a feeling of sadness and total loss of interest in things that matter.

A depressed person is someone who can cry all day. Someone who can loose interest in everything that has to do with this world.

He may not want to go to his place of work again. If depression is not carefully handled and treated, it could lead to suicide.

• Suicide signifies the violation of the sixth commandment
Exodus 20:13
[13]Thou shalt not kill.
One of the twenty commandments God gave the Israelites was that no man should kill. It is clearly written and it's the sixth commandment. This was written to them to guide them in their dealings.

Also, we may claim that today, we have a new covenant. But do not forget that, Jesus said;
Matthew 5:17
[17]Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Jesus did not come to abolish the law neither are we allowed to abolish it. The truth is, we should not totally do away with the Old testament. Because some portions are profitable.

If any man commits suicide he has violated the command of the Word. And every act of rebellion against God's command attracts divine punishment.

God is the one who judges. I am not in the position to judge anyone. But, I have no point in deceiving you. Nobody attracts God's blessing by committing suicide.

None of those who committed suicide as written in the Scriptures were honoured or celebrated by God for doing so. And God has never compensated anyone for such act.


This shows that suicide does not elate God. God is not pleased in anyone who commits suicide as it is an act that violates God's commandment.

So, one of the reasons no man should kill himself is that it is an act of violating the sixth commandment.

The Bible says that we are not the owners of this body. God’s Word maintains that God owns us as we have been bought with a price.

This truth is non-negotiable. Therefore, anyone who misuses God’s property is a poor manager. Such person will incur the wrath of God.

You are not your own. God is the owner of your body. It is unwise for you to say you can do anything you like with your body. As long as you are not the owner of this body.

Frankly speaking, you are not permitted to take your life. As a pastor is responsible for every soul God puts in his care.

In like manner, every man is responsible for his own soul. And you are accountable to God for it.

Anybody who decides to kill himself has decided to mismanage God’s property.

• Usurpation of God’s authority to life and death

[10]In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Every soul is in the hand of God. And every breadth of every man belongs to Him.

Therefore, no man is given the authority to kill himself because it’s not in the hand of any man.

Whoever commits suicide usurps God’s authority to life and death. And this is an absolute rebellion. Because God likens rebellion to witchcraft (1 Sam 15:23).

Nobody is given the power, authority and prerogative to do whatever he likes with his soul. Get this ingrained in your cerebrum.

You don’t have access to your life.

God is only one in the position to lengthen the days of men. And he is also in the position to request for the souls of men.

Only God can kill and make alive.

Don’t usurp his authority by killing yourself. He knows why he has kept you alive till this moment.

So, the one who has kept you alive has a way of helping you. That’s if you can call upon Him. No matter your situation, God can help you.


• Suicide symbolises hatred towards one body
Ephesians 5:29
[29]For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church.

Suicide represents hatred one has towards his own body. God expected everyone to cherish and love his body.

But to kill oneself means one has hated himself.

The Bible enjoins us to love and not to hate. That’s the basic truth of God’s Word. He wants love not hatred.

He wants you to love God, yourself (body) and people around you.

However, it is unexpected of us to hate our bodies. Suicide symbolises hatred. Let every man avoid suicide thought.

And let no man attempt to commit suicide.


• Suicide shows our inability to endure suffering
Romans 5:3-5
[3]And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
[4]And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
[5]And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Many people committed suicide basically because they owed huge sum amount of money and they could not pay up.

While some committed suicide because there financial situation was becoming unbearable.

More over, Jesus said many things as regards suffering for His sake.

He said we would have tribulations but we should take heart because he has overcome the world (John 16:33).

Tribulations are unavoidable for believers.

When a man takes his life because he thinks he is experiencing too much trouble. That man has shown his inability to endure tribulations.

Let’s all strive to endure. Although, no suffering seems pleasant but at the end it produces the fruit of joy.

In any situation you find yourself, just endure. Endurance will enable you to follow the Lord till the end. Endure that suffering because it has an expiry date. It will end if you can endure.

May the Lord strengthen you to endure in all circumstances? Amen!

The rampancy of rape in our society is alarming. On a daily basis, we hear about people who got raped on Radio and on Television. We read about it in Newspapers.

I have received messages in my e-mail of people who narrated their experiences as regards this nefarious act.

My intention is to help reduce its occurrence or totally stop it through my writings. So, we are starting off with an article on its causes and how to prevent rape.

Nevertheless, rape is the crime of forcing someone to have sex, especially by using violence.

More so, It is also the act of forcing sexual intercourse upon another person without their consent. Any sexual activity that is not consensual is regarded as rape.

• The Rapist Factor
Please, read this passage carefully and pay extra attention on the capitalized words.

Deuteronomy 22:25-27
[25]But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man FORCE HER, and LIE WITH HER: then the MAN ONLY that lay with HER SHALL DIE:

[26]But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter:
[27]For he found her in the field, and the betrothed DAMSEL CRIED, and there was none to save her.
Two things are be to noted here, the man who raped the damsel shall be put to death. And rape is seen as a sin of murder.

According to this passage, the blame was upon the rapist — the man. Because the lady cried out and there was no one to help. So, it was not the fault of such lady.

Here is my point; it is unfair to blame the female for being a victim of rape. It is true that some ladies dress indecently. But that shouldn’t be a reason to forcefully have sex with someone.

Every day, I walk on the street and I see people who dress indecently. Does that mean I should be raping every woman who dresses indecently? No!

Additionally, I have heard of cases where some women raped the men. But it is not as prevalent as that of the women.

In other words, those who rape the opposite sex are those who have problem with their sexuality. The rapist is the first cause of rape and not the victim.

Before You Blame A Victim
Whenever a victim of rape is seen. Don’t be quick to blame the victim. But perceive the rapist as the first cause of that act.

A person who has problem with his sexuality is the one who assault people sexually. I don’t care if he is a Pastor, Bishop or a lecturer.

No normal person in his/her right state of mind will forcefully have sex with someone.

Or will you say a 7-year old girl that got raped by a 40-year old man deserves to be blamed? Will you say it was the little child’s fault?

Besides, what does that little child know? Can a normal and mentally stable 40-year old man rape a little girl?

Let’s stop defending a rapist. Although, they may contribute little to the act. But the total blame should be on the rapist. It is either the rapist is mentally deranged or has sexuality issues.

As we have read it, Mosaic law put the blame on the rapist than the victim. Here, we can infer that the first cause of rape is the rapist.

Myths About Sexual Violence

NOTE : The male and the female can be the victim of rape. And I am writing with this view. It is not only the female that are being raped on a daily basis as we read in our Newspapers. Men are also being raped by their female counterpart.

• Total Trust In People
Read this story

2 Samuel 13:9-11
[9]And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

[10]And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

Amnon raped his sister. Though they had the same father but different mothers. We can infer that Tamar got raped because she had more trust in his brother.

If you don’t trust your brother as a female you can’t stay alone with him in a room.

Truly, Amnon pretended! But then, that shouldn’t be a reason for staying with him alone after the men had left.

Flee From The Appearance Of Evil

1 Thessalonians 5:22
[22]Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Maybe she never thought his brother could rape him.

And this is why some people have been victimized today. They couldn’t just believe their pastors could sexually assault them and they were assaulted. Trust no man.

You won’t find it anywhere in the Bible where God said we should trust in man. He said we should trust in Him. But he reiterated in His word never to trust in any man.

Expressly, in Jeremiah 17:5 God went as far as cursing anyone who trust in any man.

In Today’s World
Many people have been sexually assaulted because of the total trust they have in people.

Some ladies unduly goes out with the elderly ones whom they feel they will never rape them. But these people end up raping them.

Also, some men of God have raped many of their female members and they still threaten them not to speak out.

Why? Some women have forgotten that pastors are mortal not immortal. So, they are not immune to sin.

Trust no man!

Without mincing words, you could see how Moses displayed his love for the Israelites by interceding for them.

On several occasions when God wanted to blot them out, he would pray to God to preserve them. That was what he loved.

Beloved, you may love singing, writing, playing Football, teaching, counselling etc. Any of these might be your calling if you find out from God.

It was his testimony that he used to encourage himself that He would surely overcome despite all odds.

Stay Strong
Dear friend, anytime you feel there is no hope for you again. Always remember how God has helped you to overcome in the past. God has never changed and He will never change (Mal 3:6).

God is still God because He can visit you miraculously again. Let the past miracles you’ve seen and heard encourage you to believe the unshakable power of God.

Listen to the testimonies of other believers. There are some people who have gone through what you are going through now and they came out victorious.

See, there is nothing new under the sun (Eccl 1:9). Listen to testimonies and let them inspire you.

Also, every minister of the gospel must bear in mind that as they stand on the pulpit to minister.

It is not everyone that has come to receive blessings from the Lord. People come to God’s gathering for different reasons.

This article is written due to my few years of practical involvement in pastoral work. Being a young pastor, I have experienced a lot of things as regards Church members.

You may find it hard to believe this; Do you know there are some members who will come to your fellowship just to make you happy as a pastor?

Maybe you’ve been inviting them for a long time. So, they will just decide within themselves and say that; “Let me make this man happy today by attending Church.”

Honestly, this is not supposed to be. There are better reasons for coming to God’s Presence.

This and many other reasons are highlighted below.

How To Know Someone Is About To Commit Suicide

THE REASONS ARE LISTED BELOW:

• In Church To Attack The Minister Of God
Matthew 26:21
[21]And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Among the disciples, Judas was there seeking an opportunity to hand Jesus over to the Chief Priest ( Matthew 26:16).

So, there are people who attend meetings basically to harm the man of God spiritually or physically. There are still more Judases in Church of Christ today.

Bear in mind that there are agents of darkness seeking every means
to harm you as you minister.

These people will pretend as if they are there to help the ministry whereas, they have come to wound the pastor and wreck his ministry.

They will attend virtually all the church programmes, pretending to be fervent but they have hidden agenda they want to execute.

May they not have their way into your life in Jesus name.

There are wrong reasons for fasting. And many believers are oblivious of these reasons. More so, God examines the motives behind every work, not the work itself.


Many believers have seen fasting and prayer as an instrument that will force God to give them their heart desires.

People fast for several reasons. Some fast because they feel they must fast at least once in a week(religion).

Some fast to display their level of spiritual capability and endowment to other believers who hardly fast.

And some believers fast in order to receive answers to their prayers by force.

However, by the help of the Holy Spirit, I have come up with five wrong reasons for fasting. Take your seat and calmly read and digest this article.

Tips On How To Pray Effectively As A Christian

FIVE WRONG REASONS FOR FASTING
• KILLING OF THE DEVIL

Honestly, I have heard of a believer who was observed a 40-day fast with the only aim of killing the devil.

He said he believed by the end of his fasting and prayer the devil would died. Till now the devil has not died.


Today, I believe there are some people who believe that the fervency of their fasting and prayer will kill the devil.


Truly, many have believed this sugarcoated lie due to the poor understanding they possess as regards the Word of God.

Even Jesus did not kill the devil, He only disarmed his powers and authorities (Col 2:15).

My friend, who are you to kill the devil? The angels did not kill him, they drove him to this earth (Rev 12:10).

Don’t be deceived

So, who has deceived you that your fasting and prayer will kill the devil? Do not misunderstand me. The devil is powerless over believers.

Also, he has no power over us but God did not say it anywhere in His Word that we shall kill the devil.

To fast to kill the devil is to deceive yourself. No amount of prayer can kill him. That’s also a wrong reasons for fasting.

Basically, God has put him on this earth to strike the children of the disobedient (unbelievers), with his rod.

The importance of prayer cannot be overemphasized. Even in the days of Jesus, He would withdraw to a solitary place to pray (Luke 5:16).

It was not because Jesus was not busy. It was because Jesus knew the importance of daily prayer.

In your walk with God, you need to develop a consistent prayer life. You should have a quality relationship with God.

Although, there is no where you cannot call upon the name of the Lord. But some prayers require that you spend time alone with God.

Jesus knew they were going to disturb Him if He stayed around people praying to God. He was like a Celebrity at that time. So, he chose to go to a lonely place to pray.

Believe me, you cannot expressly and comprehensively analyze your needs to God where there are distractions.

Whereas, getting a conducive place to pray to your father is more profitable and rewarding. It will enable you to be focused. And you will spend good time with the Lord.

Some Christians rationalize their inability engage the force of prayer without ceasing with irrelevant and baseless excuses.

Believers have no other option than to pray endlessly. It is unequivocally written in First Thessalonians 5:17 that, “Pray without ceasing.”

However, this article is not written in order to mock people of their inability to pray well. But it is to ignite the fire of prayer in them.

Few Christians who possess poor level of planning are the ones who give this kind of excuse. And believers who see nothing good in prayers are the ones who say they don’t have time for prayers.

[29]Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Contemporarily, we can say Daniel was a prime minster. But Daniel kept a good prayer life due to his busy schedule.

Don’t you know what it means when you are a prime minister of a country? You will keep having meetings upon meetings throughout the day.

Also, don’t you know some politicians hold meetings at midnight?

5 Ways To Know A Good Church And attend

God’s Word said concerning Daniel that;

Daniel 6:10
[10]Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees THREE TIMES A DAY, and PRAYED, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

How challenging! Daniel still prayed three times a day. Imagine you, that you have not become anything, you can’t effectively pray once in a day.

Sadly, some people think it is only poor people who should be praying every day. While the rich easily despise the poor for praying too much.

Can I tell you the truth? Both the rich and the poor Christian need to pray without ceasing.

Biblically, God did not say, ” Let the poor pray without ceasing and the rich should pray once in a while.” No. He didn’t say that.

SUICIDE: HOW TO KNOW SOMEONE IS ABOUT TO COMMIT SUICIDE

Suicide is to purposefully take one’s own life out of misdirected self-love.

Statistically, there are roughly 29,000 successful suicides in the United States each year; compared to 19,000 murders and 13,000 AIDS related deaths.

Suicide has never been a solution to any problem. Rather, it makes whoever the deceased leaves behind to grief and mourn.


Honestly, there are suicidal behaviors to look out for in anyone who is on the verge of committing suicide. There are indications that a person is considering suicide.

And I’m writing this so that we can also help at reducing the rate at which suicide is committed in this country.

Finding a good church to attend has been an herculean task these days. It is not because there is no church to attend.

The truth is, different types of denomination are springing up daily with self-acclaimed General Overseers.

History Of The Church

Attending Church is one of the responsibilities of true believers. Because we are not to forsake the gathering of the saints.

However, if we are to attend a church. We need to attend a good one.

In this article, I have come up with what a good Church is expected to have as specified by the Scriptures.

Five Signs Of A Good Church
#Good Church
• The Word
Acts 6:2
[2]Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the WORD OF GOD and serve tables.

No matter how massive the members of a particular denomination are. Don’t join that Church because they have many members.

You do not need to join any denomination that has time for frivolities and unnecessary celebration that deprives her members of the Word.

God’s Word should be given core value in any denomination.

And it is not just about preaching the Word. Is there doctrine right?

Is what the Church preaching in line with God’s Word? A good fellowship is the one who believes that Jesus is the saviour of the world.

More so, there are some ministries where members take turns in giving their offering. They will waste hours collecting all kinds of offerings.

Time For The Word
But, the time given for the Word of God to be preached will be 10 or 15 minutes. Such assembly is not a good one.

Believers are to live by the Word that comes out of the mouth of God.

So, we are not to live by stories shared by so-called men of God. No story should replace the efficacy of God’s Word.

Don’t go to an assembly because they serve you rice and chicken every Sunday.

Unarguably, If you know the Word, you’ll enjoy the Lord and every other things will be added to you.

• Prayer
Acts 6:4
[4]But we will give ourselves CONTINUALLY TO PRAYER, and to the ministry of the word.

Prayer is the sustainer of every ministry. In the days of the Apostles, they did not only preach the Word.

They also prayed to the extent that the place where they met was shaken (Acts 4;31).

Going to an assembly of believers that does not believe in prayers will not enable you to develop close relationship with God.

As you hear the Word, you will sense the need to pray more on some issues.

Despite the fact that, prayer has been abused by some denominations. We still need to attend a prayerful Church.

When we pray, we pour our hearts out to God. Any believer that is not prayerful will become a prey to the devil.

Therefore, you can identify a good Church through her attitude towards the subject of prayer.

4 Basic Misconceptions About Speaking In Tongues

• Evangelism
Acts 5:42
[42]And daily in the TEMPLE, and in EVERY HOUSE, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Honestly, the early Church did not just preach in the temple. They also preached from house to house.

Many denominations have failed in this area. A good ministry must have a strong evangelism team.

Evangelism should not be sent to relegation in any ministry.

Additionally, some denominations have omitted the subject of evangelism in their teachings.

Don’t forget, we are sent to preach the good news throughout the World.

And that’s the main of purpose of establishing a Church. A good ministry should seek the lost and bring them to the light of Christ.

Basically, any ministry who fails in this area should not be considered a good fellowship.

How To Know When Someone Is About To Commit Suicide

• Love Is The Hallmark Of A Good Church
1 Corinthians 13:8
[8]Charity never faileth….

Charity which implies love never fails. A good fellowship should be a place where you can receive love from people.

In other words, Jesus brought love to this world as he sacrificed himself for the whole world.

He once fed over five thousand people in a crusade. On several occasions, he ate with his disciples.

Many times, He accommodated their unbelief and errors. Truly, he is the Chief Shepherd.

Also, in the days of the Apostles, they shared what they had equally. That was a demonstration of love.

Again, a good gathering of the saints should provide a support system for her members.

Importantly, the poor should be catered for as we will always have them around us.

If the assembly you want to attend does not display love to her members. You may not enjoy your fellowship with them.

• Zero Tolerance For Worldliness
James 4:4
[4]Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Listen, the Church Jesus Christ died for should not be associated with anything called worldliness.

Candidly, your basis for attending an assembly should not be for enjoyment of beats and comedy.

Frankly, any good gathering should feed her members messages that will make them abstain from worldliness.

Sadly, these days, the church has now become the center of unending entertainment galore.

Beware of any Church that has good and superlative edifice but does not abhor unscriptural practices.

By attending a worldly Church your attention will be drawn to the things of the world.

Also, you will want to get more money, fame and positions at the expense of your soul.

Tongues are initial evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit. New Testament believers should be able to speak in tongues.

God’s Word is not against speaking in tongues. When the Apostles received the Holy Ghost, they spoke in tongues.

However, there are wrong beliefs people have held concerning the act of speaking in tongues.
