Furthermore, this article is written for believers who repeatedly see dreams that scare them.

Some people have seen themselves having sex, drowning inside water, eating heavily and being beaten to a pulp in their dreams.

• Understand The Purpose Of Dreams
Joel 2:28
[28]And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my SPIRIT upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall DREAM DREAMS, your young men shall see visions.
The spirit of the Lord gives dreams to people. One of the proofs of Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is dream.

However, when the Lord gives dreams to people to see. He gives them for the following reasons;

Assurance
God also assures His people through dream as he assured Jacob of His presence (Gen 28:12,15).

Warning
Also, He warns people as he warns Abimelech in His dream.

Genesis 20:3
[3]But God came to Abimelech in a DREAM BY NIGHT, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.

Guidance
He guides as He guided Joseph, the father of Jesus when he was at the point of confusion.

Matthew 1:20
[20]But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him IN A DREAM, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Future
By dream, God reveals what He is about to do to us in the future. He did this to Pharaoh as explained by Joseph.

Book of Genesis 41:25
[25]And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The DREAM of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh WHAT HE IS ABOUT TO DO.

From my expositions above, you could see why God enables people to dream dreams.

Originally, God does not give you evil vision that will make you kill yourself when you wake up.

Once you know this, you will be able to wage war against the devil. If, he comes in form of bad dreams.

Whenever you have bad dreams, be aware of the fact that God doesn’t give dreams to scare Christians.

But, He gives dreams to guide, warn, assure and tell you of His future plans.

Any dream you have that is inexplicable or does not fulfil any of these purposes is not of God.

Dear friend, God cannot show you a dream where you will be having sex.

More so, some of those who have sex in their dreams, experience setback and they struggle in life.

Expressly, know the purpose of dream, so as to ask God for the kind of dreams you want to be having.

Enjoying yourself as a Christian is not sinful or demonic. People of the world avail themselves of array of sinful enjoyment opportunities.

Worldly people drink themselves into a stupor and they catch fun by having sex with several ladies.

Also, they listen to ungodly songs just to make themselves happy.

Hence, as true Christians, we are not to be conformed to this world (Rom 12:2). The Bible does not condemn enjoyment but frowns at worldliness.

Why A Christian Should Have Fun

In this article, we shall consider the five godly ways through which we can enjoy ourselves as believers.

• Eating Good Food

Nehemiah 8:10
NIV: Nehemiah said, “Go and ENJOY CHOICE FOOD and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

In the above passage, the Israelites had just settled in their own towns.

And Nehemiah, the Governor, announced to them that they were to enjoy themselves.

How were they supposed to enjoy themselves? They were to eat choice food and also have sweet drinks.

That is, they were to prepare the food they wanted to eat not the food that was available to them.

For instance, you may want to eat Rice but what you have is Yam. So, this passage implies that you get Rice for maximum enjoyment.

As provided by the scriptures, you can enjoy yourself by eating what you want, if you have the money.

Don’t go and borrow to eat your choice food. If you have won a contract. You may decide to celebrate it with your family.

More so, you can ask your wife to prepare the food the family would like to eat. By this, you are enjoying yourself in a godly way.

Eating good food, balanced diet and rich food promotes godly enjoyment for a good Christian.

• Have A Soft Drink

Nehemiah 8:10
NIV:Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and SWEET DRINKS, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

A Christian can enjoy himself or herself by drinking good drinks. In take of strong and alcoholic drink is not advisable for a Christian.

Don’t be like the unbelievers who would celebrate their victory using alcoholic drinks.

At times, they end the celebration having the biggest hangovers. Some of them would display like a lunatic when they are under the influence of alcohol.

My friend, you don’t have to do that. Get good drinks, or any drinks that will not make you have hangovers and enjoy yourself.

Drinking sweet drinks is another way of enjoying oneself as a Christian.

• Listening To Good Music

Ecclesiastes 7:5
[5]It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to HEAR THE SONG OF FOOLS.

Listening to songs that revives the soul of a Christian is another way of enjoying oneself.

While the people of the world listen to demonic songs sang by people under the influence of cannabis and alcohol.

Believers should be mindful of the songs they listen to. It pays to heed the rebuke of the wise than to listen to songs of fools.

The Song of the fool is the song that promotes sinfulness, worldliness and sexual pleasure.

Types Of Songs

However, a healthy song is the one that is appealing within the hearing of a good Christian.

As you celebrate good things, spice it up with good music and enjoy yourself.

• Exercise

1 Timothy 4:8
[8]For bodily exercise profiteth little…

Bodily exercise profiteth little. Exercise has some advantages for Christians. And we can make ourselves happy through active exercise.

Furthermore, you can make yourself happy by watching sporting activities. I love the game of football because it makes me happy.

Sometimes, you can engage in active exercise. You can play football with your wife, if your wife loves it.

There are other games you can play with your spouse to promote happiness. Enjoy yourself with your good friends by performing physical exercise.

Physical exercise will keep you active and strong. It will make you enjoy your day.

Additionally, watching the game you love at leisure time will facilitate your joy and happiness.

• Rest

Esther 9:17
[17]On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the SAME RESTED THEY, and made it a day of FEASTING AND GLADNESS.

The Jews rested and made that day a day of feasting and gladness. Taking a day out to catch fun isn’t a bad idea.

Christians can enjoy themselves by going out to recreational centres, tourism centres or stadia.

Nothing is wrong with you if you decide to rest and make yourself happy. Don’t kill yourself by being a workaholic.

Dear friend, take time to rest. If you need to sleep, please do. As it is usually said in pidgin “body no be firewood.”

• Christians are not to be conformed to this world in order to enjoy themselves.

• God is not against godly enjoyment, He is only against worldly enjoyment. Play with your spouse and children.

• Be a good listener, a person who selectively listens to good songs.

• Biblically, eating choice food and having sweet drinks are not sinful. But, another way of catching fun.

Truly, these men were called by God, they accepted and He used them.

Although, your sex partner may beat you up often and abuse you. Yet, you stay in that relationship because of sex.

• Making a promise to change but finding it absolutely impossible to change.

After listening to a sermon, you shed tears and promise to change. But you still go back to what you don’t want to do.

• Inexplicable sexual urge to have sex with whoever is available.
• Seeking sexual pleasure outside your own marriage. Some people have multiple sex partners apart from their husband.

• Having a sense of guilt after sexual intercourse.

Good sex (in marriage) will give you a sense of love and pleasure. But bad sex (outside marriage) will give you a sense of guilt.

Point: God’s Stance On Sex

Permit me to reiterate this basic truth of God’s Word; sex outside marriage is a sin.

Basically, God ordained sex to take place in marriage. Therefore, having sex when one hasn’t got married is a sin.

Also, after having sex with someone you are not married to is a sin.

Basically, it should be between a man and his wife who are legally joined together.

As a matter of fact, God intentionally created marriage in order for us to avoid fornication. To avoid fornication he said; ‘get married.’

1 Corinthians 7:1-2
[1]Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

[2]Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
So, when you are married. There is no sin in you enjoying sexual pleasure with your partner.

Paul said if you can’t hold yourself, get married (1 Cor 7:9).

He says to the married; don’t deprive each other of sexual pleasure except for prayers and fasting ( 1 Cor 6:5).

[1]I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

[2]And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Honestly, we are asked to present our bodies as holy sacrifice. How do we do that?

Frankly, by renewing our mind daily. By not allowing ourselves to be conformed to this world.

Addiction stems from the mind. So, you need to change the way you think and think on God’s Word.

• Pray
Please, read this passage carefully and make sure you memorize it;

Hebrews 4:15-16

[15]For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the FEELING OF OUR INFIRMITIES; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
[16]Let us therefore COME BOLDLY unto the throne of grace, that we may OBTAIN MERCY, and FIND GRACE TO HELP in time of need.
Pray to God to give you grace to overcome your sexual sin. Don’t condemn yourself.

Surely, God knows your struggles and your weaknesses. He’s only waiting upon you to ask Him for help.

Beloved, you can be free from that sexual addiction no matter how deep you have gone. Just pray to Him, and He’ll help you.

It is not possible for both parties to enjoy their friendship if there is no agreement in their basic values.

You will know that you are in a wrong relationship when your it turns to a battlefield one. Don’t be surprised when your partner engages you in a physical battle.

If you do not leave this kind of relationship, you may harm yourself. A wrong association will definitely produce endless conflict.

One can easily sense the absence of love as the people involved fight ignorantly over trivial issues.

Any association that constantly produce conflict or dispute is not the best the relationship. It shows how bad such association is.

Although, two people can disagree over certain issues but they are to solve it amicably.

Every human being has a destiny to fulfil. You’re not created to do every business that you know.

Ask For Divine Direction
My friend, ask your creator (God) if the business you want to start is His will for your life.

I’m telling you this because I have seen some people who started business and closed it down afterwards.

When they discovered it was not God’s purpose for their life. You can only make it in a business that is designed for you. No matter the opposition and vicissitudes of life.

However, you can only struggle endlessly and record losses in a business that is not designed for you.

Isaiah 58:11 says;
“And the LORD shall guide thee continually… “


So, rest assured that God will lead you as you pray for God’s direction. He may lead you through vision, dream, an angel, prophecy or through your pastor.

As a Christian, don’t start a business until you have spoken to God about it. And God has spoken to you about it.



• Acquire Knowledge About The Business


Please read this passage carefully;

Numbers 13:17-20
[17]And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

[18]see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

[19]And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

[20] what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.


Although, the Israelites were going to inherit the promised land — Canaan.

But Moses had to send some people to acquire knowledge about the land they were to inherit.


Imperatively, they were to know the kind of people living there, how good or bad the land was and the kind of houses they live in.


Also, they were to know the kind of fruit they had on their land. Isn’t this amazing?


Even Moses knew he needed to know the land they were to inherit. That is a form of Education.

So, what gives you the impression that you don’t need to know much about your business?

Implication
Above all, it is knowledge that stabilises business. Business without knowledge will produce frustration and waste of time.

For instance, if you want to start online marketing. There are books you need to read on marketing. Also, there are blog posts you need to read.


Additionally, if you want to be selling clothes, you need to know what it takes to make headway in that business.


Means Of Acquiring Knowledge

Importantly, do not go into any business without acquiring knowledge that will sustain your business.

Read books that expatiate extensively on your preferred business. If you could lay hands on tapes, please buy them and listen.

Be like Moses who knew about his venture. Know about that business in order to be successful.

The word “christian” is not just an emblem but a word loaded with responsibilities for its bearer.

Anyone who bears this title has to possess certain powers that distinguish him/her from mere men.

Firstly, a Christian is someone who has given his life to Christ and who exhibits Christ-like character.

Other words for the word christian are “disciple,” “saint,” “the elect,” and “believer.” I may use these words interchangeably in this post.

The powers I mean here refer to the responsibilities vested upon a believer. Today, many people just bear the title of Christian but their lifestyle does not reflect that name.

Purposely, I write to you so that you can identify a good Christian. And for you believer to carry out self introspection on yourself and make amends.



Five Powers Every Christian Must Possess

• Power Of Christ-like Character
Acts 4:13
[13]Now when they SAW THE BOLDNESS OF Peter and John, and PERCEIVED that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and THEY TOOK KNOWLEDGE of them, that they had been with Jesus.

The Christ-like the apostles exhibited in the above cited passage was boldness. Their boldness reminded them of Jesus boldness.

When the army of soldiers came to arrest Jesus Christ and they were looking for him. He came to them and told them; “I AM HE.”

They fell to the ground when they heard this (John 18:5-6). That was boldness!

Similar to that of Jesus boldness. John and Peter were not fidgeting before the rulers and elders of the Jews. They answered their questions with boldness.

So, they concluded that these men had been with Jesus. In other words, these men are the followers of Christ.

That is just one out of the Christ-like character that every Christian must possess. Jesus is humble, meek, courageous and kind.

Anyone who manifests a contrary behaviour is not of Christ.

It is an aberration to claim to be a follower of Christ and still having sex with prostitutes, smoking cigarette, backbiting, selfish, and unloving.

People like this does not deserve to be called a Christian.



• Power Of Forgiveness

Luke 23:34
[34]Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Jesus prayed to God for the forgiveness of sins of those who nailed him to the cross.

He said it was ignorance that made them to do what they did against him.

However, that was a typical example of Christ’s power of forgiveness.

Ephesians 4:32 says;
[32]And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

We are admonished to forgive one another. That means, God knew people ( including believers) are going to offend us.

Therefore, there is no point in remaining adamant and rigid and not forgive people.

The power of forgiveness is the power every good Christian must possess. I know the flesh will make it difficult to forgive people.

Don’t forget that we are not to be controlled by old selfish nature.

Forgiveness is the true identity of a transformed and regenerated mind. No unregenerated man can forgive people. It is only those who have purged themselves of filthy thought that can forgive.

Forget about the gravity of sin people committed towards you. Remember, your were forgiven by God.

To be sincere, you were once an addict sinner but God forgave you. Try and Possess this power as a Christian.

Apostle Paul said, he was an apostle by the will of the Lord. Don’t forget, that he was formerly a Judaist. He was a nonentity when he was a Judaist until he met Christ.

Listen, the truth is this; if you venture into any business that is not the will of God for your life. The end result will be absolute frustration.

It is the manufacturer of a product that has the prerogative to talk about the purpose for which a product is manufactured.

More so, foolishness is when you assume that you can be a jack of all trade and be the master of all.

False Teachers; Who Are They?

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid .

For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”- Romans 16: 17-18.

In the apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans, he wrote the above quoted admonition to the Church at Rome.

That they should mark those who would cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which they have learnt and also avoid them.

The true teachings of the Apostles have been passed to the believers at Rome.

Paul knew the devil would use some people to cause divisions in the Church at Rome.

He knew some people would be deceived and swerved away from the true teachings of Christ which they have received. So, he told them to watch out!


There are men who burden the Church with offending notions, dividing and offending impositions and those who propagate erroneous teachings.

These people will gain entrance into the Church and preach their so-called gospel.

False Teachers: Beware Of Them

We need to be careful! We should not forget that the devil can also masquerade himself as an angel light. Be watchful!

What we need to note here is this, for any true teaching of Christ, there will always be a counterfeit.

Anytime you hear the true teaching of God’s Word, the devil will also send some people to pollute your mind.

And make you deny true teaching that you have received with joy before.

Again, we must not just get excited about the truth we have found in God’s Word.


Be Purposeful

But we should purpose in our hearts never to leave the truth, for teaching that sounds nice and promising but contradicts the Scriptures.

Whatever varies from the form of sound doctrine which we have in the Bible opens a way of divisions and offence.

Therefore, Our responsibility is to hold on to the true teaching, deny any teaching that contradicts the scriptures.

That is why many people have gone to church for many years and never experienced any spiritual growth.

Because they attended church with the wrong reasons. Motive matters a lot. Don’t just go to church because your friends are also going.

Scriptural Reasons For Attending Church

• Attend Church In Order To Be Exhorted
Hebrews 10:25
[25]Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but EXHORTING ONE ANOTHER: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

To be exhorted means to urge, implore and to advise earnestly. There is nothing wrong with you if you go to church with an expectation to be motivated by God’s Word.

One of the reasons why some people commit suicide is that they lack the Word of encouragement.

The encouragement that is needed by them to move on in life, they didn’t access it.

However, the good news is that the church of Christ gives you an avenue and platform to be motivated and urged.

There are several ministrations that usually take place in the church. That will bless you and spur you into action.

For example, song ministrations, impartation, teaching of the Word, drama, prayers and so on. There is no way you cannot be blessed by any of these aforementioned ministrations.

Summarily, it is necessary for you to go to church in order to be exhorted. And it is one of the good reasons for attending church.



• Attend A Church To Prepare For The Lord’s Coming
Hebrews 10:25

[25]Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, AS YE SEE THE DAY APPROACHING.

It is incumbent upon me to remind you of rapture — the catching away of the saints into heaven.

And there is no better place where you can hear the teachings that will make you prepare for the rapture, than the church.

They won’t tell you how to prepare for the Lord’s coming in clubhouse. The proper place to receive the sound teachings that will spur you into preparation is the church.

Therefore, one of the right reasons for attending church; is to get oneself prepared for the Lord’s coming.

In church, you will be taught how to live in order to be rapturous. You will be taught what is required of you to make heaven. And some other basic truths you need to know.

Sincerely, something is wrong with you and your church if your only reason for attending church is because of wealth acquisition.

Truthfully, you don’t go to church because you want to be wealthy.

The core duty of the church is to prepare the saints for the Lord’s coming.

Any church you attend that is not in anyway preparing you for rapture is a false church. Leave that kind of church.

Go to church in order to get prepared for the Lord’s coming.



• Attend A Church In Order To Hear God’s Word
Ecclesiastes 5:1

[1]Keep thy foot when thou goest to the HOUSE OF GOD, and BE MORE READY TO HEAR, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

God said here that; whenever we find ourselves in the house of God we should be more receptive.

We should be ready to listen than to offer sacrifice of fools.

Although, the house of God is the body of a believer in the New Testament.

Linguistically, the church I am referring to here is the place where we worship every Sunday.

Theologically, the church means the called out. It refers to those who are called out of the kingdom of darkness.

But for the sake of this teaching. Linguistically, Let’s stick to church as being a place of worship.

You should go to church because you want to learn from the Word of the Lord. The Word of God is replete with a lot of teachings and that will benefit our lives.

Marriage is an institution that is established by God. There are basic requirements every young people who want to get married must possess.


Marriage is not something anyone can rush into without enough knowledge. The one who instituted marriage is God.

And for every product, there is a manual. God’s manual for the marriage, he established is the Bible.

Any counsel that is not in line with God’s Word will destroy one’s marriage.

Until you know His requirements for marriage, you are not qualified to get married.

If you get married without having these requirements I am about to outline and explain. You may not enjoy your marriage.

And God’s will is that you enjoy your marriage. My prayer is that you will have a good Christian marriage in Jesus name.

Therefore, pay attention to this teaching because it will help all Christian Youths who are preparing to get married.


Five Things You Must Have Before You Consider Marriage


• Know Him

Daniel 11:32
[32]And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: BUT THE PEOPLE THAT DO KNOW THEIR GOD SHALL BE STRONG, AND DO EXPLOITS.

You are to know the Lord who instituted the institution you want to enter. Although, you were born inside the Church and grew up in the Church. But that does not signify salvation.

Salvation means that you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and he took away your sins.

Salvation is the first requirement for marriage. Because you cannot have a new heart and be able to live a new life without surrendering yourself to Jesus.

Honestly, know the Lord because you will need Him more in your marriage. Know Him now so that you can do exploits in your marriage.

Rest assured that you have been saved. And when that is settled, you are good to build a great family.

You want to do exploits in your marriage? Know Him.

You want to have a good marriage. Make sure you know the Lord.

There are marriages that are not doing exploits.

While there are marriages that are doing great. Because, our level of knowledge of God will make or mar our marriages.



• Marriage requires good relationship with God

Job 22:21
[21]Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

One of your responsibilities as a single man or woman is to develop good relationship with the Lord.

At this point, you must know how God speaks to you. You should be able to communicate your needs to God outright.

You should be able to distinguish the voice of the Lord from the voice of the devil.

As you acquaint yourself with the Lord. Certainly, good will come unto you.

There is a need for you to have an unshakable relationship with God.

Get yourself books to read.

Study the Word of the Lord. Know His mind on certain issues like marriage, trinity, Holy Spirit, healing, Heaven etc.

Know what it takes to have a good marriage through study.

Develop good relationship with God before you enter into marriage.



• Marriage requires a job

Genesis 2:15
[15]And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Before God gave Adam a wife, he gave a job to him. He gave him an occupation.

So, Adam had a job before he was considered fit to get a wife. That is God’s arrangement.

I marvel when unemployed and lazy youths of today want to get married without a stable source of income. It is absolute stupidity.

Wisdom demands that you get a source of income before venturing into marriage.

Any jobless brother who marries any sister will raise a poverty-ridden family. They will definitely suffer until they get a stable source of income.

Practically, marriage will demand a lot from you. And money is one of the things marriage will demand from you.

For instance, you and your wife must eat every day. You must take care of your children and give them sound education.

But if you have no job, how will you shoulder these responsibilities?

Therefore, if you don’t have a job yet. Just get a job before you think of marriage.

Otherwise, you’ll regret your decision for ignoring this wise counsel. Please, head this advice.

Suicide is to purposefully take one’s own life out of misdirected self-love.

Statistically, there are roughly 29,000 successful suicides in the United States each year; compared to 19,000 murders and 13,000 AIDS related deaths.

Suicide has never been a solution to any problem. Rather, it makes whoever the deceased leaves behind to grief and mourn.


Honestly, there are suicidal behaviors to look out for in anyone who is on the verge of committing suicide. There are indications that a person is considering suicide.

And I’m writing this so that we can also help at reducing the rate at which suicide is committed in this country.

If you notice any of these signs, please seek help from professionals or spiritual leaders.

These are the suicidal signs/symptoms;


• Hopelessness

Acts 16:27
[27]And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and SEEING THE PRISON DOORS OPEN, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

When the Philippian jailor woke up and could not find Paul and Silas. He lost hope and thought the next thing for him to do was to kill himself.

He lost hope immediately that he did not even bother to find them.

The first suicidal sign is hopelessness. Listen, when you get to a point where you have no hope. It’s a point you don’t believe that your tomorrow will be greater than today. Beware!

There is always light at the end of a tunnel. The Bible says, hope maketh not ashamed. The devil will try as much as possible to blind your eyes to golden opportunities that abound.

Any man who says he doesn’t hope things will be better is very close to committing suicide. We must try to help him.


One of the proofs of hopelessness is to give up. The jailor refused to find Paul and Silas. Therefore, he gave up.

So, when a man gives up trying, struggling and praying to make things better he is at risk for suicide.

Realistically, one will want to leave this world by killing himself/herself when he sees nothing good in this world.

Let’s look out for this sign in people who are very closed to us.

Hopelessness is the pregnancy that gives birth to suicide. To avoid suicide, be hopeful for a better tomorrow.


• Constant statement about suicide

1 Samuel 31:4
[4]Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, DRAW THY SWORD, AND THRUST ME THROUGH THEREWITH; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. THEREFORE SAUL TOOK A SWORD, AND FELL UPON IT.

In this story, Saul wanted to die and he told his armour bearer about it. He wanted to die and he made it known to someone who was closed to him at that moment.

Afterwards, King Saul ended up killing himself(suicide). So, it’s possible to know who is at risk for suicide by what they say.

Obviously, it is not everyone who wants to commit suicide that will talk about it.

However, there are some people who will talk about it before they commit it.

For instance, when your friend approaches you and begins to say; “I’ll kill myself someday.” Please, do not abandon such person.

You can refer him to someone who can help him.

Find out what his issues are and how you can be of help. Do not trivialise the issues of those who always say to you that; they are going to kill themselves someday.

I have heard of many stories from the friends of those who committed suicide.

Some of them once said that his friend told him he was going to commit suicide one day but he thought it was a joke. He laughed it off.

A day after, the man committed suicide and died.

Therefore, Whoever says to you he is going to commit suicide. Move closer to him and make sure you help him.

We do things with different motives. It may be with good or ulterior motive. While some people go to church purposely to pray and hear God’s Word. Some people attend Church with unscriptural reasons.

In this article, I will highlight various wrong reasons why people attend church. And I’m believing God that they will change after reading this piece.


Also, every minister of the gospel must bear in mind that as they stand on the pulpit to minister.

It is not everyone that has come to receive blessings from the Lord. People come to God’s gathering for different reasons.

This article is written due to my few years of practical involvement in pastoral work. Being a young pastor, I have experienced a lot of things as regards Church members.

You may find it hard to believe this; Do you know there are some members who will come to your fellowship just to make you happy as a pastor?

Maybe you’ve been inviting them for a long time. So, they will just decide within themselves and say that; “Let me make this man happy today by attending Church.”

Honestly, this is not supposed to be. There are better reasons for coming to God’s Presence.

This and many other reasons are highlighted below


THE REASONS ARE LISTED BELOW:


• In Church To Attack The Minister Of God

Matthew 26:21
[21]And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Among the disciples, Judas was there seeking an opportunity to hand Jesus over to the Chief Priest ( Matthew 26:16).

So, there are people who attend meetings basically to harm the man of God spiritually or physically. There are still more Judas in the Church of Christ today.

Bear in mind that there are agents of darkness seeking every means to harm you as you minister.

These people will pretend as if they are there to help the ministry whereas, they have come to wound the pastor and wreck his ministry.

They will attend virtually all the church programmes, pretending to be fervent but they have hidden agenda they want to execute.

May they not have their way into your life in Jesus name.



• In Church To Get Connected

Acts 8:18
[18]And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money.

Simon the sorcerer attended the meeting where Apostle Peter ministered.

But he had one thought in mind. He wanted to buy God’s power that God has given Peter.

In other words, we can infer that he attended that meeting for connection into the place of power in a wrong way.

Truthfully, some people go to church in order to get connected to people in high position.

They want those people to see them. These people hardly listen to sermon and they are less concerned about ministrations.

There are still more people today who attend your meetings in order to see one billionaire who will help them get a job. This reason is not right.


• Only To Overcome Challenges

They are inconsistent. Hardly can they join any group in Church. They are not committed in any way. As they will only show up only when things have gone wrong.

Believers like this see Church as a place one need to attend in the time of trouble.

For instance, If they are in need of money and you give them money. They won’t come to the place of worship again until they exhaust that money. Are you not like these people?


Some people see the church as a hospital. These kind of people come to church only when they have been battered by the devil.

And they stop coming once they receive healing. They hardly go to church when they are strong and okay.

The Bible said concerning the early Church that;

Acts 2:46
[46]And they, continuing DAILY with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

They came together daily. Not once in a while but daily. That is how a good Christian should attend a believers meeting. Be consistent.



• Attending Church Just Because Of The Pastor

Acts 13:42
[42]And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Acts 13:44
[44]And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

After Paul preached in Pisidian Antioch. The people got fascinated with what they heard and wanted to hear more.

More so, in the next Sabbath, the whole city gathered to hear Paul. This had never recorded before Paul preached there. That the whole city gathered to hear one man.

However, we can say, those people came out massively to hear God’s Word from the mouth of Paul.

Some come to church because they love the way the pastor preaches and virtually everything the pastor does.

They always anticipate the time the pastor will mount the pulpit and preach. However, this kind of people leave the church once the pastor they love has been transferred.

It is not advisable for you to attend a Church because of a particular Pastor because once he fails into sin. You will be discouraged.
