Studying in the UK or US (i don't know about other countries) is way more stressful than studying in an average naija institution. In the Uk, the average naija students have to struggle with part-time jobs and load of course works. However the opposite is the case in naija. The biggest setback and most stressful part of naija institutions is having to contend with victimization from academic staff or cultists. |
9ce:I agree with you; Same way all the hoodlums in power from Aso Rock down to to LGA chairmen use tinted vehicles. I hope this law applies to them too |
What you saying here is very interesting but is it really true. Is thirty only considered to be legal age? Does that then mean the father woul dhave no say, that used to happen in my culture with any child, especially first born, who is born out of wedlock, the father had no say because that child would belong to the girls parents, not her but that was loooong ago.
It still happens. Parents still covet kids born by their daughters out of wedlock. The only exceptions are in cases when 1) the real father of the child agrees to marry the mother(daughter) or 2) the mother(daughter) is capable (financially, etc, ) of taking care of the child on her own |
I Hope they wouldn't blame the ruling PDP if that propeller hurts someone ![]() |
This topic came up on one show i was listening to yesterday and i was surprised at the callers of the show opinions most of them said ''No its not a must that they dont want a man to marry them cos of they got pregnant for him'' some even said they were in the situation and that they didnt not marry the father of their baby! To me if am a father and my daughter gets pregnant she don marry be that weda she like am or not!!!!I mean first of all i cannot phantom how 2 ppl who call themselves adult will engage in pre marital sex and not use protection abeg women wetin una think for the matter if u were in a situation like that will u force the guy to marry u!!!!!
Its better you send your daughter out on the street than force her to a home or family where she is not welcomed. As long as its not RAP.E, any outcome of consented intimacy between 'of-aged' pairs is not a crime (eg. pregnancy, heartbreak, HIV, etc. ). If parents likes it or not, it is their responsibility as a parent to take care of her as you would do if she gets into any other form of trouble. Forget the "he/she is an adult" thing; In Nigeria, being >=18yrs does not make you an adult. However **NOTE** In the Nigerian contest (you can prove me wrong), an adult is a person (male or female) who is over 30yrs or a person that can take care of him/herself financially. |

Apart from winning the lottery, how else can you get rich without been intelligent.
That is not a good comparison. Because both men were rich/wealthy and are/were 'brainiacs'. A better comparison would be Einstein and P.Diddy. ^^my choice.
P diddy not intelligent abi? Na u make the money for am? It really doesn't matter the industry; Engineering, Medicine, Music, 419, Onitsha trader, Politics, Armed robber, etc. You need intelligence to succeed in your field |

passyjango:Judge with care, you really can't tell how much improvement she has made in these 12yrs. I can't tell either cos i don't know how bad she was back then. |
9ijaMan:Sorry, maybe about 13yrs ago. Not withstanding, we really cant tell how much she has leart over this period. May be back then she could speak only her local language. Afterall her oga no wear shoe go primary school, take less of her ![]() |
klear:Judging from your point of view, theres are limited option for GEJ to follow. They are; 1) Divorce Patience and get a new polished wife 2) Marry a second wife that will be the official firstlady while patience sit at home, cook n watch the little GEJ's 3) Deny Patience and rule without a first lady. @klear, i feel your pain and that of some other nairalanders, but i dare you all to pray GEJ embraces any of the above option. After all patience never dreamt of been in such a position. She simply dancing to a music she has never heard before in a party she stumble on. Lest u forget, 10yrs ago the poor woman was a common house wife tending to her lecturer husband and their children. GEJ love his wife, and even his present position or status will not come inbetween them What Nigeria needs is good governance not good english. Spoken english is by far our least problem in this country. we should better prioritize our demands on time. |
Just wondering where all these Nigerians & Nlanders (with world class education and command of english) where when these so-called illiterates & lowlifes rose to the top office ![]() Conclusion: if your education cannot get you to where illiterates have conquered, then go back and rethink you strategy |

Gayigaskia:I have heard of this line where every Libyan receives a monthly payment for being a citizen, but i never knew it was as much as US$ 5,000. A very foolish approach for a nation in this century. However, i hope the new regime after the downfall of Ghadaffi would continue the payment else the whole revolution would be a ghastly mistake as the whole nation would likely plunge into a civil war when they stop getting their usual monthly stipend. |
Fummiee:Yes u are right, i dont have kids yet and might not understand how it feels in situations like this. However heartbreak and extreme emotion is not a justification to hurt others becos when the dust settles you might regret it. I pray the child is found and the perpetrators brought to to book |
myk2mic:Baby sharon was just one case, all cases are not the same. The nanny should be the first suspect, but from the post, she already been branded the kidnapper. At this rate, nobody would want to hear her side of the story when they are eventually found. |
ifyalways:I agree, her picture should be made available to ease the search, but my problem is that she's been tagged a kidnapper without any reasonable evidence |
bankeaj:Hope the family have enough fact to indict the nanny; did she drop a note, or has she called for a ransom. Going out with the kid and not coming back is not enough reason to indict the nanny. Hope she has not been wasted and the kid kidnapped. Afterall if they never trusted her why employ her in the first place. |
