EducationRe: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by turboman(m): 3:23pm On Mar 11, 2011
Studying  in the UK or US (i don't know about other countries) is way more stressful than studying in an average naija institution. In the Uk, the average naija students have to struggle with part-time jobs and load of course works. However the opposite is the case in naija. The biggest setback and most stressful part of naija institutions is having to contend with victimization from academic staff or cultists.
What you saying here is very interesting but is it really true. Is thirty only considered to be legal age? Does that then mean the father woul dhave no say, that used to happen in my culture with any child, especially first born, who is born out of wedlock, the father had no say because that child would belong to the girls parents, not her but that was loooong ago.
It still happens. Parents still covet kids born by their daughters out of wedlock. The only exceptions are in cases when
1) the real father of the child agrees to marry the mother(daughter) or
2) the mother(daughter) is capable (financially, etc, ) of taking care of the child on her own
This topic came up on one show i was listening to yesterday and i was surprised at the callers of the show opinions  angry angry angry angry angry angry most of them said ''No its not a must that they dont want a man to marry them cos of they got pregnant for him'' some even said they were in the situation and that they didnt not marry the father of their baby! To me if am a father and my daughter gets pregnant she don marry be that weda she like am or not!!!!

I mean first of all i cannot phantom how 2 ppl who call themselves adult will engage in pre marital sex and not use protection

abeg women wetin una think for the matter if u were in a situation like that will u force the guy to marry u!!!!!
Its better you send your daughter out on the street than force her to a home or family where she is not welcomed. As long as its not RAP.E, any outcome of consented intimacy between 'of-aged' pairs is not a crime (eg. pregnancy, heartbreak, HIV, etc. ). If parents likes it or not, it is their responsibility as a parent to take care of her as you would do if she gets into any other form of trouble.
Forget the "he/she is an adult" thing; In Nigeria, being >=18yrs does not make you an adult. However **NOTE** In the Nigerian contest (you can prove me wrong), an adult is a person (male or female) who is over 30yrs or a person that can take care of him/herself financially.

Apart from winning the lottery, how else can you get rich without been intelligent.
That is not a good comparison. Because both men were rich/wealthy
and are/were 'brainiacs'.

A better comparison would be

Einstein and P.Diddy.

It really doesn't matter the industry; Engineering, Medicine, Music, 419, Onitsha trader, Politics, Armed robber, etc. You need intelligence to succeed in your field

PoliticsRe: Patience Jonathan: My Fellow Widows by turboman(m): 6:39pm On Mar 07, 2011
passyjango:
No, doubt Patience Jonathan is a coconut head. She has been in political circle for around 12 years now yet she has not learnt nor seen the need to learn and master the English language. It shows that she lacks intelligence and has a poor reading culture. That is why the drive by GEJ to reintroduce a reading culture in Nigerians must start with his wife.

This also shows how weak a leader GEJ is. If you have been in political positions for around 12 years and you cannot convince and inspire your wife to see the need to improve her command of the official language of the country that you have served in various capacities, then you must be a weak leader. No wonder the woman considers herself a widow. If you cannot lead your home, your chances of successfully leading a country is very slim.
Judge with care, you really can't tell how much improvement she has made in these 12yrs. I can't tell either cos i don't know how bad she was back then.

Sorry Pal you lie there! 10 years ago she was the wife of the deputy governor of a state in Nigeria.
Sorry, maybe about 13yrs ago. Not withstanding, we really cant tell how much she has leart over this period. May be back then she could speak only her local language.

Some peeps need 2 tel demselves d truth! We r talkin abt d 1st lady s.one who is representin our country on d global level & will continue 2 do so if her husband finds his way in2 Aso rock again talking like an illiterate pepper seller! As for those defending her have u heard her talk? so uncultured & unpolished its reali embarrasing embarassed.
Judging from your point of view, theres are limited option for GEJ to follow. They are;
1) Divorce Patience and get a new polished wife
2) Marry a second wife that will be the official firstlady while patience sit at home, cook n watch the little GEJ's
3) Deny Patience and rule without a first lady.

@klear, i feel your pain and that of some other nairalanders, but i dare you all to pray GEJ embraces any of the above option. After all patience never dreamt of been in such a position. She simply dancing to a music she has never heard before in a party she stumble on.

Lest u forget, 10yrs ago the poor woman was a common house wife tending to her lecturer husband and their children. GEJ love his wife, and even his present position or status will not come inbetween them

What Nigeria needs is good governance not good english. Spoken english is by far our least problem in this country. we should better prioritize our demands on time.

This is Nigeria we are talking about. This woman would simply disappear if she runs to an unknown village anywhere in naija. Even if caught the system is so rotten that she could be released the next minute.
which do u prefer: Spending 2 years in jail in the States or spending the rest of your life hiding in an interior village in naija running from your shadows ?

Gayigaskia:
. . . . . . . . . . .However, this great idea of suddenly every Libyan receiving on average between US$ 5,000 to 10,000 per month just for being a Libyan citizen worries me. I feel that there is a real and serious danger that a nation, a whole people that get into the habit of receiving a great deal of money just because of their nationality would get used to receiving in the long term and not giving - and subsequently find it difficult to adjust. . . . . . . .
I have heard of this line where every Libyan receives a monthly payment for being a citizen, but i never knew it was as much as US$ 5,000. A very foolish approach for a  nation in this century. However, i hope the new regime after the downfall of Ghadaffi would continue the payment else the whole revolution would be a ghastly mistake as the whole nation would likely plunge into a civil war when they stop getting their usual monthly stipend.

@turboman, i am very sure you've got no kids yet so u can't really understand how this feels.

Neways i sincerely hope and pray they find this child very soon, cuz i am sure the mum would be having sleepless nite.

I think i have to go and ''employ my sweet mum to be helping my nanny out @home''.
Yes u are right, i dont have kids yet and might not understand how it feels in situations like this. However heartbreak and extreme emotion is not a justification to hurt others becos when the dust settles you might regret it.

I pray the child is found and the perpetrators brought to to book

bros i tire for you, did u not hear about baby sharon who was kidanapped by family member that had lived with them for over 10yrs.the nanny is the first suspect period. afterall ,where would she want to take a 10 month yr old baby to, on a date ? her pix shld be upload and when she is eventually found she can then tell the family and police what actually happened to her and the baby.but until she is found ,she is the ONLY SUSPECT in this case.
Baby sharon was just one case, all cases are not the same. The nanny should be the first suspect, but from the post, she already been branded the kidnapper. At this rate, nobody would want to hear her side of the story when they are eventually found.

@Turboman,wether the nanny is innocent or not,it wud make alot of sense If her pictures are uploaded. It wud be alot more easier and feasible spotting the nanny than the baby.If the nanny is fished out, they wud be closer to getting their baby.IMO
I agree, her picture should be made available to ease the search, but my problem is that she's been tagged a kidnapper without any reasonable evidence

10 month old Enioluwa Odegbaike was kidnapped on Sunday 13th Feb. 2011 by his nanny who left the family's Magodo home with him on that day and never returned. The nanny is believed to be working with some unknown persons.

If you have any information about Enioluwa or the nanny no matter how trivial, please call 07085534788, or the nearest police station. Enioluwa's mum is an ex-staff of Airtel and can be reached on this number - 08022228422

Please spread the news on Twitter and Facebook. Thanks

http://lindaikeji..com/2011/02/missing-10-year-old-enioluwa-odegbaike.html
Hope the family have enough fact to indict the nanny; did she drop a note, or has she called for a ransom. Going out with the kid and not coming back is not enough reason to indict the nanny. Hope she has not been wasted and the kid kidnapped. Afterall if they never trusted her why employ her in the first place.
