Travel / Re: WAKANOW-I Need My Refund by Twetwi: 8:29am On Dec 12, 2018
Wakanow at it again,

I booked a ticket for a return flight out of London,
Payment was made, payment was confirmed. To cut long story short I called the airline for 72hrs and they kept telling me ticket was queued and will be issued shortly.

6hrs to the flight, I received this email:

We regret to inform you that all effort to issue your ticket on Airfrance proved abortive

We advise that you send an email to refunds@wakanow.com with your payment details and bank account, requesting for refunds

We hope to hear from you soon and we sincerely regret the unfavorable experience

I later called and queried why they couldn't issue ticket when the flight was still available on their booking site. I made additional payment to commesurate for the new price... same thing...VOICE MAIL.

OYA refund so we can buy new ticket..... NO RESPONSE

Passenger was left stranded in london....

Personally, I purchased dollars from the black market in Nigeria.
Then changed it to Euros in Ireland. It's best you change a little at the airport. Then the rest when you open an account.

Alternatively you could purchase Euros from black market. The CAVEAT is that Dollar notes are easier to authenticate.
However, most banks would automaticate black market notes for free.

When you open your account in Ireland you will be issued an IBAN, Sort Code and a Visa Card.
So funds can be transferred to your account from Nigeria or any country

Better still, you may just buy Euro in Nigeria and bring it in.
That way, you will avoid exchange rate risk

Or buy Euro PTA from the banks

Please a quick one.
Is it true that a return ticket is an exigent documentation on arrival at Ireland ?

no it is not..

A visiting visa holder must obtain a return ticket, however a study visa holder is allowed to hold a one-way ticket

Unilag doesn't issue transcript to individuals. Its super annoying.

I guess i will print out DIT's response and add to the supporting documents. So they will know the transcript is with DIT and they can request from them if need be.

Thanks

Yes i know, super annoying.
In addition to the documents you will be submitting, please include the statement of result with you.
Best u submit on time too... not all schools allow late resumption.

if you have a scanned copy, you can present it.
but applying wiithout your transcript is not really advisable

I suggest you put a call to the embassy to clarify.
Nothing expressly states that a transcript should be submitted.
Also the embassy is aware that a school will not grant you admission without receiving your transcript and thoroughly analyzing it.

Time is not on your side if you plan to go to school in September.

My advise.. put a call through to the embassy tomorrow.

Thanks.

The norm is you apply for it and Unilag Couriers or email it to the school directly. Technically, the stipulation is that as an ex student we aren't supposed to have a copy, from my understanding. They guard it like a classified document.

Is it a deal breaker? Are they keen on it?

Hi, I believe you are looking at addressing this - "Evidence that you have the academic ability to follow your chosen course

You must provide evidence that you have the ability to follow your chosen course e.g. exam results, qualifications."

School certificates and statement of result and and any other related documents i believe should address that.i.e. nysc certificates etc.

If you are looking at Sept this year then its best you put in your application immediately as there's just barely 4 weeks to go.

I finished from UNILAG and i can relate, students are not availed a copy of their transcript and using an agent at this time is an additional minimum of 4-5weeks..

Please do you need to submit your academic credentials as well for study visa purpose? Or the school admission letter and perhaps English test result will suffice.

If you have children who are not accompanying you, do you need to include their birth certificates?

Thanks

One of the supporting documents is

"Evidence that you have the academic ability to follow your chosen course
You must provide evidence that you have the ability to follow your chosen course e.g. exam results, qualifications."

From the above, you would need to submit your academic credentials, School certificates, transcripts etc.

Also, see link below for other supporting documents
http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Study

I wouldn't be able to give information on children not accompanying you.

I am a bit confused, the online application form requests that i fill in my accommodation details.
All the sites i tried to book accommodation are requesting for a deposit.
Were you able to book one?
If not, what did you fill on the online form?
