1. Visit the German Consulate website and read the guidelines on long stay visa.
2. Download a blocked account application form and fill
3. visit the embassy from Monday - Wednesday between 8 and 10a.m to sign the blocked account (DB) form and pay N4,500. Please go along with 2 copies each of your passport data page and admission letter.
4. mail the embassy receipt for the DB, passport data page and your admission letter to the e mail address on the website for visa application submission and interview date.
5. Fund your account with 8040 Euro before your interview if possible
6. Attend your interview. Make sure you are not late on this day.
7. wait for your visa.
8, Thank me later

The choice of which language test to take is dependent on the individual. The fact that some people say one is easier than the other doesn't necessarily mean that will apply to all.

I have written both (some more than once) so I think I can make a few statements about both exams.....but at the end of the day, it still comes down to those statements being my "opinion"

My Scores

TOEFL Test 1: 106

TOEFL Test 2: 107

IELTS: 8.5


Want to know my opinion? IELTS is the easier one of the two!

My reasons range from the fact that IELTS is paper based and the speaking is usually like freestyling with ideas about the topic being handed to you, the reading is like WAEC passages where you can easily trace your answers to parts of the passages etc.

Compare this with scrolling up and down the computer screen looking for answers and having to type answers to questions (scored 30 here both times) and listening to passages to remember everything they discussed when questions come up...etc

So as you can see, I prefer IELTS and that is my view.....

Meine Zwei Loffeln ist dass yyou do your homework and see which exam style gives you the edge, then go blast that particular exam.

P.S: your score matters.... the higher the better.....remember, getting admitted to a course is a competition so you have to put your best dress on and your best foot forward.

I remember that stress scrolling up and in toefl just to answer comprehensions . Still wasn't difficult tho.

Last last it's any ones choice to pick any..

When I dropped some lines last week, regarding Arabs and security, someone here quickly called me names. I'll continue to say that Arabs are highly dangerous! And this is in no way about religion but about the Arabs! Yeah, I was born a Muslim (now a Christian) and my dad till this day, remains an Islamic scholar. I see some people are already taking swipes at others for sharing their opinions and fears, to you lot I say - Nobody holy pass!

Just this week alone, there's been reports of Syrian refugees rioting in a German city, injuring scores of policemen and civilians (Germans & Foreigners). The said Syrian refugees also destroyed properties ranging from: Cars, Houses and what not; during the riot.

In another report this week, a group of Arab refugees now living legally in Germany, have started posting pro-terror pictures on facebook with a view of raising awareness of a terror group's presence in Germany, in order to unite old members and as well recruit new members.

Arab refugees are also in the news this week for posting several extremist comments on social media platforms about how they are already taking over Europe, and directing racists comments to the same Europeans who have welcomed them to their abode. There's also a report about the apprehension of a terrorist recruiter who tried to gain entry into Germany under the guise of being a refugee. One simply can't overlook the thought of many of his kind, slipping through, unnoticed.

This is only early days and some totally extreme events already unfolded, and realistically so, more will follow! And to those saying we're all the same; whether student or asylum seeker - Please, I'm sure we all know that student and refugee are two very different categories. Free tuition doesn't translate to asylum seeker, please! And in fact, some of us are paying heavily, I mean HEAVY tuition fees for our studies in Germany. Moreover, I believe many are only worried because the asylum seekers are Arabs, and their record speaks for itself!

Personally, I was attracted to Germany for its numerous job opportunities after my MBA, security and high standard of living. Now, a number of uncertainties becloud my German dream but I find solace in the popular saying "Que Sera Sera", and I hope those reading this, who like me also have their fears/concerns, do too.

You think Arabs are scary when it comes to stereotypes. I'm extremely sure you know what they call NIGERIANS abroad.

Williamso to be extremely honest.. I completely agree with you. I think it's heartless to feel bad if another country we are trying to gain entry to decides to help the helpless. Germany no send us work NA. No one has one single right to vex .
There are more than 1 million Nigerians in the UK sef.

Yet no problem..
We shouldn't cry foul for 800k helpless people.

Some of us want to just study and yes come back and invest in naija..
Whatever anyone chooses is a possibility. I don't think this strong influx of migrants should deter our desires..

I feel Germany is fully aware of these consequences to an extent sha I don't know .

Imagine a very top school like uni stuttgart requiring just 79 for toefl.. And Many other top schools in Germany.. BUT we know admission is very competitive in Germany..
Emphasis on Motivation Letter and CGPA in most cases..
Some a powerful motivation letter is the joker when other requirements are met

And some both will do.

A school I applied to in one of their magazines said.. Many people don't usually qualify for the course because their work experience or modules are not in line with the course ..

Yeah just do so once and for all. If you prepare for about 1.5 months you will pass the TOEFL very well. For me I didn't use any of the prep books like Barrons etc because they contain too much jargon and are never straight to the point. The internet is filled with awesome resources..just do a google search of something like "Toefl Speaking Practice" or "toefl listening practice" etc and you will get so much help.

You are applying for a program starting next year October. You have enough time to take TOEFL and GRE or whatever standardized exam that is requested of you. Don't fear these exams. Be optimistic and you will get your desired score. Nothing beats preparation and optimism. You show a lot of zeal by gathering all info you need now. It is this zeal that will see you thru all the way to achieveing success. I also took my TOEFL in October last yr and had all my docs ready for the schools I applied to. I really don't like the idea of letter from school so I strongly encourage you to take TOEFL.

To buttress what kanweyest, obiwannn and lmuhopeful have said.. TOEFL is not hard.. Heard IELTS is easier..
Just score 80+ in toefl or 6.0+ in IELTS u can apply to 90% of German schools.

For TOEFL .. Work on ur **SPEED***, then WRITING and SPEAKING sections .. That's the tip for toefl..


For IELTS.. I don't have tips for IELTS not written it before..

For a BSC course, after d whole interview the V/O told me that e ought *****to conduct an aptitude test for me but time won't allow and that I'll b contacted by the consulate on when to come write the test.*****So yesterday I got a mail from them that in d a.m matter btw 8-9h of next week I should come to the visa section @d consulate with my passport and a printout of the mail. I hope this mail is for the aptitude test and not something else? So haus what do you think this email is for

Inform your department that you only have one week left for visa processing so that they can try to contact alien's office for you .

Call foreigners office.. I wouldn't tell you the frequency of you calling. It depends on how the matter grips you.

And I was at the embassy to collect the visa today. I got there by 8 and was asked to enter for submission but return by 12 for collection. Little by little, 12 turned into 2 . But finally it has been stamped. Thanks to you all once more.

P.S. I didnt see any NLer today or perhaps coz I didn't really talk much to people inside the embassy today.

Form A really stressed a lot of people out but they eventually did it.

Kciano and lmuhopeful did theirs successfully almost with no stress you might want to ask them for full guidance.
Those are the two on here that I know personally and pulled it through without much stress.

I hope my testimony helps.. My visa was approved in exactly 11 working days.. I.e 15 calendar days.
Now because your visa processing time is not much.

MAKE SURE YOU FUND BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW. I. E GET DB CONFIRMATION PRINT OUT AND SUBMIT DURING YOUR INTERVIEW.

MAKE SURE YOU PREPARE VERY WELL FOR THE INTERVIEW. THAT WILL HELP YOU ALSO FOR PEACE OF MIND AFTER THE INTERVIEW.

AFTER YOUR INTERVIEW.. A WEEK BEFORE ENROLMENT call your department to assist you in fast tracking your visa application. Or if you really can't deal.
Call the foreigners office of schools location. Or anyone can call for you to know the state of your application and tell them what's at hand.

Your db account details should be ready before October 8.
The most important thing is funding before your interview for your case especially.
Pls try to get a bank can do the form A. Form A works.
Sometimes the only risk is when they will debit your account and you getting confirmation asap.

But pls once again try to sort the form A processing before October 8.

No Bro.. I got it a day before going to the embassy.

But a pal of mine got it around 8am and rushed to the embassy before 9am. And got his visa that day in the afternoon .
