Bros it's good to cook ohh, but it also has its disadvantage. If you are staying alone not in a shared apartment i will strongly advice to cook once a week and refrigerate all. Then you can always warm and eat when hungry.

And also learn how to eat hot food just once a day. it will help you on the long run and eat lots of fruits, it makes you look fit and healthy. Mind you fruits are cheap just flow with the season.
We also have vegetables, learn how to eat them too. lol

Talking from experience.

When your energy bill hit you, na sorry go be your block account.
thanks for the advice bro

I hail all the honourables for here.

As una dey arrive in drips and trickles, I want to drop an advice which was given dropped here this time last year.

Carry food as much as you can. All those small small 3euro 4euro meals you will be tempted to eat in your fist few days can fit wreck your pocket. As soon as possible start cooking for yourselves. 3euros X 3meals X 5days = you know the maths.

That's all.
Wow.. Thanks bro.. €45 in 5 days shocked shocked ... Omo mehn!! Not economical at all..

Bro what you are saying is that we should imbibe the habit of cooking.
it makes sense.. Even when we bring loads of foodstuffs from naija. It will finish one day.. It wouldn't be wise going back to the €3 per meal chops 3x a day..

Really ? I never knew about that TOEFL o. IELTS, I believe, listening section is a walk in the park. The writing can be a bit tricky though.
I've never had to register for TOEFL but the registration procedure for IELTS was easy. It just took a minute or two and that was it. True - most schools are OK with 6.0. But if you were to advise someone on which cert to sit for - would you have them do TOEFL ? Based on the experience and the questions repetition.
Yes I can advice them to do TOEFL.
I dropped a link of a TOEFL pack to download months back.. There are about 22 past exams one can practice with in it.. It's a Simulator..

http://www.4shared.com/zip/P3mexyAP/TOEFL_TPO__Mitsu_Licensed_.html

BUT.. Someone I know that follows this German thread said he just Freestyled the IELTS exam.. He didn't practice jack nd had 6.5
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by twinkle1(m): 6:51pm On Aug 30, 2015
DanIndia:
True that. Most UK Universities still accept it - I didn't say it was ruled out.
Yea I get you.. No ish

A lot of people say IELTS is easier than TOEFL nd the registration is easier.. But do know TOEFL is very predictable? smiley
The same format every year in fact if I think they repeat their questions sef! Just little tweaks here and there..

But the good news is that German schools don't really send your toefl or IELTS score o.. Most schools are OK with 80+ or 6.0.. The top schools requiring 90+ or 6.5+ still very OK..
Compared to UK and US top schools heheheheeh..
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by twinkle1(m): 3:07pm On Aug 30, 2015
lmuhopeful:
Sorry but this isnt totally accurate. Apart from the UK which seemed to place a ban of TOEFL over their IELTS, no other country rejects TOEFL scores. Or do you have proof to the contrary?
I agree with you Lmuhopeful...

And for the TOEFL /IELTS have been seeing of late on here .
If u check the website of top schools in the UK, you will see their toefl requirements and they still accept it.

If you want to apply to German institutions. TOEFL is as valid as IELTS.

There's a preference for IELTS to TOEFL in the UK all because of that TOEIC saga last year.
But I think everything is now OK.

I wrote the searches I made about Germany on a full page then on the next page I wrote down all the course work
U knw I read thru it when we were sittin down
So when I was tru I placed it inside my file see saw it tru my file cos the file was transparent
she just collected it and attached it to my file and we continued with d interview
It was when I was trying to explain to her that I had service in between 2010 and 2012 and I graduated in 2010 and when I started working
She got upset and asked me to go home..

pls what should he do?
He cannot do anything. He has to wait for a response from them. That will determine what they actually analysed.

He wasn't accused of anything initially , so writing to them in advance might look even more suspicious.

My advice is for him is to chill.

It looks like a no-no from the information you gave. But he should wait..

Some of us might have known this already..

The news is *well not new in Germany * that as from winter semester 2016. The Bafög level will rise to €735 from €670.
Infact this was concluded in 2014..with subtle effects in 2015 and full effect in 2016.
The rise in Bafög level is aimed at an Increase in the financial welfare of students that take up the loan. **Bafög = student loan **
So *according to the new Bafög level for 2016* the financial means of substinence via blocked account, sponsorship or scholarship will also increase to a maximum of €735 per month for non EU students .
So the expected new blocked account figure will be €8820 from €8040 for one year.

Leibniz Universität Hannover updated their means of financial substinence page last month .
I will post a screenshot .

So in conclusion the new blocked account figure will be €8820 from winter 2016.

You can check out this link.. http://m.bundesregierung.de/Content/DE/Artikel/2014/07/2014-07-21-bafoeg-reform.html

Or just type "Bafög 735" on Google. The news is all over.

Please house I've bee meaning to ask this question. Does the embassy give specific date before which you cannot travel? What's the consequence of this especially if after being granted the visa, the departure date you're given is after your enrollment period? In his case can anything be done?
It is not everyone's that has that restriction.

I think it's enrolment deadline based..

Mine had a departure restriction .. Kennyoguns0509's didnt have.

The embassy takes into consideration your enrolment deadline.

If that happens which I doubt might not .. Pls contact your school for extension of enrolment.

Mr Man mind ur language.. I didn't quote you.. Nd u didnt start this flight talk.. It has been on since day 1 about airline opinions.. Most especially air maroc nd some..

TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by twinkle1(m): 12:50pm On Aug 22, 2015
One of the last processes is to fly out...

If someone chooses to fly out even if na 800k. Na wetin Hin want

If another chooses to fly out even if na 90k. Na wetin hin want.

air maroc o, KLM o, lufthansa o, Turkish o.. Pick whichever you want.

This thread holds a very WIDE range of people.

So one opinion on an airline might not even count..

Some want comfort, some are targeting the costs, some don't even mind..

Cheers
TravelRe: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by twinkle1(m): 6:59am On Aug 22, 2015
Ahbbiey is right..

At the end of the day which ever airline you choose will still get you in Germany Last last.

But, comfort, transit times, speed and cost come into play..

If you are all about speed and comfort but don't mind the cost..

From lagos you will arrive in Frankfurt in 6hrs30 mins.. Via Lufthansa

You might even get Lufthansa cheaper if you book well in advance or just lucky..

Comfort, transit times, speed, cost.. Consider that before booking.

Some weeks back my very good friend prophet eke(rtd) which u all know as eke40seven invited me 2 com give my german experience account and even though i took so long to ansa, here i am. i just hope u guys bear with me cus its not that i forgot abt here. i read posts daily just bin busy with stuffs. you guys coming to germany this winter will soon understand.

back to the issues at hand, b4 i ansa eke's questions, i need to drop some infos, 2 specifically

1) a lot of people av contacted me about the job link i posted some months back. some even started bothering me about it even though they are yet to be in germany. well sorry to inform you that nigerian students can no longer av access to the job. this is because u need a document called gewerbeischien (business license) for the job. the german govt in its infinite wisdom however deems it fit that non-eu students can not av dat document cus with that document, u can be self employed and run your own bizness in germany. so plz stop sending me msgs abt the job again. And to some who contacted me asking me how they will get to germany to come and work, plz i am not a travel or job agent. the only way i know that can bring u to germany is thru study. thanks

2)the second issue i will like to address is the issue of student health insurance specifically for any student that will be above 30 years on ur arrival in germany (even if u are one seconds above 30 years on ur arrival, u fall into this category). It is a known fact that students over 30 yrs cant take the public health insurance any longer so the option left is the private for which we all run to mawista bcus it has one of the cheapest premium monthly. if you are the type of student that rarely goes to a hospital and u do not av medical issues that warrants u to see doctors frequently, yes mawista is good for u. just pay ur premiums and enjoy ur life. but if you are the type that av reasons to visit hospitals frequently, or u will need a surgery or u want to feel safe about ursef, plz and plz, do not (and i repeat) do not use mawista. my reason being that mawista will never pay 100% of ur hospital bills wen it really matters. they might pay for the small small hospital checkups but wen it comes to real bills like surgery and long term hospitalization, they will pay some % based on ur contract yle u bear the rest. i know students presently who are in debts running into 3000euros cus mawista did not pay their total fees wen they had real medical issues.

the best health insurance company to sign up with if u are above 30 is the one that came out of an agreement btw the deutsche studentenwerk (German national student union) and hanse merkur. it is meant purely for international students above 30 yrs. just sign up for their optimum tariff plan wia u pay a monthly premium of 78 euros and u are 100% covered should you need any form of hospitalization or treatment. this is the link to their page. https://portal.versicherungsdienste.de/dsw-studenten-kv/index.en.html they even pay your burial/repatriation of remains cost should u die in germany up to 10,000 euros (this will not be anyone's portion though). information they say is power, plz assist ursef and do not fall into unnecessary debt yle u are still thinking on how to manage block act. mawista is a not the best public health insurance u can get as a student

any other question, i will be pleased to ansa. thanks and God bless our hustles
Omo see better information! Wow.

Bless Bro... Cheers
