Oye50: All thanks to God, i arrived Stuttgart yesterday morning. Omo as we de land, the weather that greeted me was kinda cold but pleasant; at least for the time being. it seems like when our AC de work on full scale for house, Lol. My impression here has been so great, infact twas as if i de watch one hollyhood movie. This is because the organization, serenity, orderliness in Germany is unbeatable. I even asked friend if there's a place they make noise in Germany. Moving from place to place, trains and bus stations, everywhere just de quiet and cool. Oh! I now understand why people no gre go house again. Also, I boarded a train, thank God we already bought ticket for me to use, naso Police come train to check ticket o. I was told if ticket no de, my fine is 60 box. i was able to register at the foreigners office and the bank stuff was sorted out same day. just a feedback to the house. Nigerian students here made things a lot more easier for me. I'm so happy. Thank God for journey mercies Omo na wetin I first observe for Germany o. Dem No dey shout. Everywhere is quiet and orderly lol. |

Degovmob: Obiwannn,twinkle1 ,Nobody,Eke40seven etc. You guys are awesome in this forum. I have been reading from this forum for a week now. The advices, insults, jokes are all making sense. Lol.
However, I have been wondering why PhD discussions are not available in this forum. In addition, people seem not to be heading to Dresden. Why is it that way? Majority of us are heading for either BSc or Msc that's why |

yea.. im back.. got into Germany few days ago ..i can say my experiences have been great! from my experiences germans are nice and helpful 99% of them were willing to help me..infact one german guy walked with me to the foreigners office when i was lost.. you guys that are coming soon..ABEG BUY JACKET OO.. the weather here switches like crazy.. from cold winds to mild warmth to light rain in no order ..weather here is 14 degrees steady.. take some cash along oooo..you wouldnt be able to withdraw from your blocked account in the two weeks processing period ..but the banker will advice you to withdraw some cash now cs you wouldnt be able to do after 2 weeks (cs they will be processing ur atm card and the rest)... bring from naija at least 300 (u may bring more or far less) euros sha ..if possible...dont worry u fit just use 40 euros last last.. and pls when u meet a german or foreigner say `do you speak LITTLE english?` ..then they switch to fairly ok english.. many of them can speak little english fair enough..pls always try to smile ooo..dont be boning any how else dem no go answer you. was able to get all these sorted in two days.. in this order 1)went to my department first for debriefing (day 2) 2)sorted my health insurance (day 2) 3)enrolled at my uni (day 2) 4)activated my bank account and withdrew some cash (day 3) .. 5)booked an appointment at the foreigners office (day 3).. all these sorted quickly with the help of a nairalander on here and some very nice kenyans.. one of your best friends when you first get into germany are the TRAMS.. once u understand the tram maps..you wouldnt get lost easily when moving far distances.. but i got lost in the streets few times cs i didnt have internet..when i activated my internet..google maps took over with ease.. i guess my lil info is helpful.. BUY EU ADAPTER OOO..NA BORROW I BORROW FOR THE MAIN TIME HERE OO.. BUY JACKET OOO..THE COLD HERE IS NOT A JOKING STURVZ PLS ALWAYS BE MENTALLY ALERT DURING THE FIRST DAYS HERE.... BRING INDOMIEEE AND SPAGHETTTIII LOL |

Obiwannn: Ehen, I forgot to add a very important tip for those who are yet to come. By as much clothes, jeans, inners and shoes as possible when coming, forget that Aba made quality hoax. Its hogwash. Person wey I know tell me say him buy 10 jeans... him no go buy jeans be that again for the next one year.
secondly, come with a LAN cable. Most internet connections especially the one you would get in your room are WLAN and not Wifi. E cheap for naija, around 2k for 10m long cable. I know say the price for here go be die.
thirdly, bring winter jacket oh...the cold for here no be play. A useful tip to reduce the weight on your luggage which I told em Oye say I go do na I wan share give una so. You know say clothes light well well and na jeans and winter jacket na heavy. So this is what I did.. I wore two jeans, wear three if you can then wore an inner, a shirt and two winter jackets for my body. Laff if you would, but the clothes wey I wear for body reach 12kg when I measure am. Tell me how I for take add am to my bags wey dn already dey weigh 48kg The woman at the check in desk come de ask me say why I pack clothes for body say am I cold? Na I tell am say yesoooo...meanwhile no be small sweat I de sweat oh..lol
fourthly, carry all ur documents oh..I remember the guy at the airline desk asking me if I've payed my school fees and I tell am say na free tuituon, then he come de ask for any evidence of payment made to the school. I no no how that one take concern am sha, but I gavee him my Form A transfer receipt.
I wish all of una more testimonies oh..and those that are flying today, tomorrow and soon a very very safe flight.. again all ye ghosts for here, there is God oh..make una come out of hiding, cos what u people are doing is selfish, and in the long run una no go benefit trust me. I met a lovely Nigerian dude here and he has really been very helpful.. I believe God connected him to me as a helper, cos I love helping people in return... So have a rethink, let us as One Nigeria take over Deutschland. If you have any info that would help ur neighbour, tip on a course, connection to a person, job link, etc, share it, don't hoard it. Enoough of the Indians, the Cameronians and even Ghanaians dominating us. The average Nigerian has a mentality of wanting only himself to succeed and doesnt want his fellow Nigerian to succeed. We need to get rid of that mentality. Nothing dey for life oh my people, as all in all na vanity. We should live it consciously with a view of helping one another and putting smiles on people's faces. Its Obiwannn signing off....and OHHHH YES..WINTER IS HERE!!!
Styles2009, biko I get some questions..please check ur PM, or gimme ur Lyca number if u get Chief Cindino, abeg u o get Lyca Number? How una take cope with the initial cultural shock? I am finding it very difficult to go out of my room oh...been indoors all day. Again, I found this site and was lost while sifting through it http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/Germany I need a suggestion as per sim wey get cheap call rates to German numbers and cheap data plan...or those sim cards wey dey get flat rates wey cover calls sms and data. I don run from contract phone oh..I no buy again. The complexities involved pass even me wey like complex situations. Make I no go do wetin to finish all my block account money. Obiwannn !!!!!!!!!!! You are a blessing to others. God will reward you.. Cheers.. |

Meanwhile I go with what cahnellven said. Kindly mail the embassy and explain what happened.
Wish you success man! So sorry Bro.. |

bigzzz: Good day friends, just to quickly announce to the house that I picked up my visa yesterday.
It took exactly 9 working days after my interview to get the approval. Please note that on my call, my program coordinator asked the Aliens Office to please speed up my visa process as my enrolment deadline is fast approaching and fixed.
Of course it wouldn't have been possible without God; hence I'm thanking him again for answered prayers. Also, many-many thanks to every member of this thread, some of whom often go out of their way to help others here: Y'all are the best!
To those awaiting approval and those yet to apply, I wish Y'all success #GodGotY'all. Cheers Wow great!! Congratulations bro.. I think it's safe to say that visa processing usually takes 9 working days to 8 weeks.. That their usual 4-6weeks processing abi is it 6-8 weeks is err........ Cs What they usually state can be quite depressing nd discouraging for people with very short visa processing time.. |

Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by twinkle1(m): 5:13pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
number13: Yeah, as you said the rankings are indices of certain criteria. Since there's no 'perfect' way to process the criteria into rankings, that's why I said that the higher-ranked schools are generally better, and not - as you rightly pointed out - all better, or that they're definitely better for that matter. I was just disagreeing with the dismissal of the ranking as something unimportant. Nailed it.. |
Travel › Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by twinkle1(m): 4:37pm On Sep 17, 2015*. Modified: 5:05pm On Sep 17, 2015 |
number13: Not quite. Academic rankings aren't vanity rankings. They're based on set criteria, and these criteria are in turn, based on factual data. The difference between rankings are how the data are processed into ranks. Universities that are higher up the QS generally carry out better work and produce better graduates (based on reputation among academics), and generally carry out more influential researches than the universities lower down the ranking. Bro you are right.. It's indicative.. But when people start throwing lame arguments all because a school is few 10s or 50s steps higher than another because of a controversial ranking just irritates.. For example no german school has ever entered top 20 not even 30.. Will one now say all those top 30 schools are better than the top 10 German schools that the rankings arrange ?? Those rankings breed lame arguments.. So I really don't take them that seriously.. Though they can be indicative.. >>>and who sets the standards? <<<< |
