I may understand soon as I am expecting my Malta visa You know he was only being sarcastic right? Don't go asking for an LPR at the POE... they'll simply cancel your visa and ship you back home! |

Chanbaby: If u have given birth in the US before how much did u pay? Did u pay the 20,000- 40,000 bill that US citizen pay or u paid max 8,000 bill. Why didn't u insist to pay 20,000 cos u are not a US citizen and didn't they know u are an international patient? They can not erroneously think I'm a US tax payer when I gave them my international passport and insisted I'm paying cash and filled any income cos I don't stay there and didn't know what to fill. You could save yourself all that money and have your baby in Nigeria though... I don't blame the VOs... every year health insurance goes up by a minimum of 10% just to accommodate for losses for those who either won't pay their hospital bills or try to cut corners... taking "discounts" they are not entitled to. |

They can not erroneously think I'm a US tax payer when I gave them my international passport and insisted I'm paying cash and filled any income cos I don't stay there and didn't know what to fill. I live here and pay taxes... so do not need to pay cash for birthing... that's what health insurance is for. It is your responsibility at all times to make sure that you fill in the most accurate information on such forms. The clinic you went to is for indigent Americans (most of whom, unfortunately are minorities), which is why they are supported by federal tax dollars... they obviously assumed you were just one of them (there are plenty of US tax payers with other passports). Just because you don't know what to fill is not an excuse. You cannot fill in income when you do not earn taxable income in the US. That's basic. I think this has been hashed out enough. Now you know the right thing to do... if anyone tells you to apply for a discount, simply say no. That "discount" is only possible because someone else (usually the Federal government) is subsidizing your bill. The VOs at the consulate are aware of this... they also have the ability to check if the hospitals/clinics you use are funded by tax dollars. That may be the reason for the increasing visa denials even when you claim to have paid all your bills. |

Chanbaby: Maybe I didn't present my case well. The form I filled was for the baby and I gave them my international passport and stating that I'm an international patient and I am paying cash but they insisted I filled the income. What would I have filled I don't work there neither do I back home. Would I have filled $1000? Besides someone referred me there and said she paid $30 so insisted on that amount. So what's the fraud there? They obviously erroneously assumed you were a US citizen. You can't fill "income" since what you earn in Nigeria is not taxable under US laws. You're paying less for delivery than the average middle class American... again you decide if you think that is right or not. |

ladee1: Please i want to find out if its a crime to use govt hosp for birthing where delivery fees are subsidized? Has any one had issue at houston poe based on visit visa used for birthing with change of intent letter? The delivery fees are subsidized by US taxpayers... you decide whether you think that is right for you to take advantage of that or not. There are no "govt hospitals" (maybe VA or military hospitals - these are not accessible to you). You should be fine at the POE... just make sure you're prepared for a possible denial when you renew your visa. I think its been said here one too many times that "change of intent" letters are a complete waste of time. |

Can i send you a mail? That won't be necessary. Simply pay your bills in full, as you indicated at your visa interview. Do not accept discounts based on income and do not apply for any form of aid (as a visitor, you are never eligible for any at all times). |

Please who knows the implication of applying for charity care? My family members are saying its not medicaid and that it wont affect me but i am skeptical.
Kindly advise.
Thanks "Charity care is a state-mandated and partially state-funded program that allows uninsured or underinsured people to receive inpatient and outpatient care at a reduced cost. Only people who meet certain income and asset criteria are eligible to receive charity care." Having a baby in the US is not a requirement. If you can't honestly afford it, why not have your baby in Nigeria? |

I'm very much aware of that considering the tournament holds about an hour from my home, every September, and i have actually attended the last 2-3 years.
I asked the question because he mentioned the venue as Las Vegas and the date as April - apparently he was referring to the US Open for Karate - which i was not aware of. |

Chanbaby: You are on point. Every bill is negotiable no stamp on it. I will advice those going to houston to look for hope clinic and use for ur baby's visit after birth. I paid $30 for pku, lab and office visit and they do hearing test for $20 as against the $130 quote the hospital gave me but didn't do it. There charges ranges from $30- $75 depending on your income so when filling the form fill a low amount as ur income so u qualify for the $30 package. This is straight up fraud. |

I believe one should be truth Cos actually if you are not a citizen then why should you fill a low income ....... Its not right. In this thread we encourage being truthful...... So one can still use hope clinic. Just tell them you are self pay international patient ...simply.. Thank you ma'am. |

Chanbaby: Yes, but ur bill will be based on your income. I filled $200 as monthly income so they generated $30 as my bill. That's inappropriate, considering you are not a US citizen/resident. The reason they are probably able to give you a reduced bill is because they most likely get federal funding to support lower income US citizens/residents. They would not have given you a reduced bill if you had indicated you were a non-resident alien patient. As i suspected... Hope is a FQHC Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) provide comprehensive health care services to underserved communities. Many of the Texans they serve are indigent, uninsured and underserved. Some FQHCs offer additional services, such as dental, mental health or substance abuse treatment. FQHCs are community organizations with defined target populations and service areas. Services are provided to Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, Insured and Uninsured individuals. Patients may be eligible for services based on their family income and on a sliding fee schedule. This is most likely why the VOs are now denying people who receive large discounts for birthing purposes... the discounts are because the Feds fund the hospitals to provide services to poorer Americans... not to internationals. |

You know immigration can be funny at their airport over there. this is probably a large part of why the change of intent letters are no longer recognized. How much more difficult would it have been to simply indicate that you would also intend to go for childbirth while renewing your visa? |

Lots and lots of people i know who present genuine papers at the embassy and were denied galantly couple of times... Us dont give a damn on your documents.. They want you to express yourself verbally and see what you are made of. Their philosophy is " Tell a lie once and all the truth you have told will be questioned". They know we are master of forgers that is why they ask you to keep your document to yourself. If you can explain yourself and engage a vo in a very nice interview conversation, you are likely to get your visa. They know when you are lieing in your voice and eye contact so keep that document sh*t. That's the point! One person tells a lie once and the consular officers are unlikely to believe anyone else again. It's not fair that the innocent bear the consequences of the egregious sins of a few. |

MsTiitii: You lost me at dishonesty boy. So because someone asked if he can use a visiting visa to work that ultimately tags him as been dishonest. I thought this forum was all about advising and educating not bashing down someone because of his lack of knowledge. My interview was 2 weeks ago and YES a lady was asked for her Invitation letter from her supposed citizen brother! Just because you might have an archaic memory of things does not mean you should not educate yourself more. This forum was started to help people with questions, just because you feel you you have managed to secure 2 or 3 visas in your lifetime, does not mean you cannot politely correct or help a naive person. It's people like you on this forum, that bully people when they ask questions and they end up looking for advise elsewhere and messing themselves up in the end. Get over yourself. Not everyone is eligible for a US visa, that is just the hard cold fact. Pretending otherwise is not helpful. |

MsTiitii: My dear, I am not working and I got my Visa. Everything depends on how you communicate. I might have been lucky because I have been traveling to the US since I was 11. But I was asked if I was working and I replied No. the VO then proceeded to type some stuff and gave me my white paper after a minute. EVERYTHING has to do with God's favor. And it's not your business what she intends to use the Visa for, if you are so bothered then you should take up a job with the CBP or National guard. A German does not need "favor" to travel to the US. That's because Germans do not routinely flout immigration rules. You need "favor" because no one can trust you to keep your word, tell the truth, or present only genuine documents at all times. You stated why you get visas easily - you've been traveling since you were 11... you already ESTABLISHED a credible travel history that trumps your lack of a job. That does not apply to everyone else. It is our business, as Nigerians and users of this forum, to promote honesty and legitimate use of visas. The repercussions of your dishonesty affects all other innocent legitimate visa applicants... to dismiss that with a frankly unnecessarily haughty tone is disturbing. Asking him to get an invitation letter addressed to the US embassy is evidence you don't know what you're talking about either. |
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by TWoods(m): 5:42pm On Feb 23, 2017 |
MsTiitii: 1) Yes you need an Invitation letter addressed to the embassy, typed by your Uncle. 2) you need to answer truthfully, because if you lie that you are employed, they might ask for a reference letter from your company or your bank statement. And if you don't have funds like that, ask your uncle to address a letter to the embassy stating that he would fund your trip and movements. 3) Girl? Don't even open your mouth to mention the word 'work or intern' during your interview. And if you get your visa, don't also mention it at the POE. Your B1 or B2 visa does not permit you to work. Also don't carry school documents and all on your trip. 4) if your lucky you might be granted 2 years. My first US visa was 2years and it was a B1/B2,and I was 11,so the B1 visa part wasn't necessary. Everything has to do with Favor. And if they don't trust you, they can give you a 6months single entry visa. which means that you can only enter the US ONCE, for that six month period. Once you leave the US, your visa becomes invalid. 5) If you followed the thread, you would see frequent questions asked. Visa applications have nothing to do with favor, especially when your intent is to flout immigration laws. God is not a respecter of the disobedient. He is unemployed and a recent graduate, obviously intends to work on a visit visa and is looking to stay for 6 months or more. There is no god on earth that will make a VO grant him a visa. Last but not least, I think the VOs have made it clear here, invitation letters are not read or requested! |
