4peace4:This was your post on this thread on Dec 4 4peace4:On that same Dec 4, this was your variant of the same question on the Australian students visa thread: 4peace4:So as at Dec 4, the account belonged to your father or brother. By Dec 9, the account now belonged to your step brother? And to think you had the gall to complain that i was accusing you of fraud. You sir are only deceiving yourself. The point is that no such company exists. Your father, brother or step brother are not co-owners of any company. You either are trying to use an account belonging to someone else who is not related to you (hence the question about proving relationship ties - which would be lies anyway) or you are trying to use a fake statement of account. Oh la la. |
Hopeful17:Ask any question you wish to here. Welcome to the thread. |
4peace4:I couldn't find a more appropriate word to describe it. You and I know that the company isn't going to be paying your school and living expenses... so why are you going with their account as your primary means of sponsorship? You may not have stolen my money, but your actions reflect negatively on the rest of us who struggle daily to live above stereotypes brought on by the likes of you. Please do not attempt to directly contact me again, i have no desire to answer any private questions from you. |
4peace4:I'm not "helping matters" because i'm not telling you what you want to hear... and that is the problem. You didn't come here with a question that you wanted a honest answer to, you wanted someone to "bless" what essentially amounts to fraud. The VO will ask you, on what basis is the co-owner of a company sponsoring his step brother? Does he and the other co-owners pay the fees for their own children and siblings with company funds too? Best advice - find another sponsorship route or ask him to provide you his own private account. |
4peace4:The VO is not going to believe this. Does every board member use the company account to pay the school fees for their children and brothers? Be honest, you are simply using the company statement of account to get through the visa interview. This is the issue you have to overcome first before worrying about proving relationship ties. |
4peace4:Think about your post for a second, would that even fly with you if someone else came with this story? First off, why would a company sponsor someone who is neither a member of staff nor related to anyone in the position of making financial decisions for the company? |
EZEIGBO2OFIMO:lol i had no idea "favor" now runs a bed & breakfast and a taxi service too. Well good luck to him then. |
EZEIGBO2OFIMO:lol he didn't tell me when he applied for a visa now, did he? lol he's asking for accommodation, for how long? Does that accommodation include helping pay some of his bills, driving him around to everywhere he wants to go and/or lending him my car to move around? There is a lot that he does not appear to have factored into his decisions. |
isaacology:Seems you didn't plan well in advance. I will caution you, this is not a country where people simply "accommodate" people. You are expected to be independent and make your own plans. Hopefully you'll find some Nigerian willing to help. |
LGDON:The minute you explain to them that you were banned for misrepresentation, they will most likely refuse you. Be prepared. |
LGDON:How do you intend to answer the question about if you have ever been refused a visa to any other country before? If you answer yes to that question, you are also asked to provide details. What do you intend to say? |
Damilare5882:Character is not allowing conditions to bend the crayfish, regardless. I do agree with you that an unsettlingly large number of Nigerians lack moral fiber, even though we are the most religious people on earth. |
LGDON:Short answer - yes. Save your money and their time. |
Damilare5882:You missed the point completely... and i would daresay partly because of the typical Nigerian mentality that sees precious little wrong with "some" fraud here and there... anything to grease the skids. There are two issues: 1. Naivety and ignorance in thinking that it is ok to let an agent fill your visa application for you. That the OP admitted to. 2. Wilful attempt to commit fraud by knowingly going with a form filled with false information and attempting to obtain a visa based on this information. That is the big issue and that is one the OP does not seem to have learned from. On page 3 of the Canadian application for a visiting visa, you are asked if you have ever been refused a visa to any country... and also requested to provide the details. Obviously the OP will have to indicate that he has been banned from obtaining a US visa for misrepresentation... your guess is as good as mine what the outcome will be. Until we get to a point in Nigeria where we have zero tolerance to fraud of any kind, Libya, slavery and poverty is all we have to look forward to. |
Olubuzzy:I’m not sure what “help” you’re expecting. Apply. |
BenNash:Why are you just trying to book now? |
femi312:“Proper planning” is apparently a phrase many here have never heard before. I’m amused at the number of people panicking over interview dates and how close it is to their resumption date. Obviously these folks have been under a rock since October. |
SDG1:There is nothing to the green card interview. It is simply to ascertain the truthfulness of all information provided in your application. If you have nothing to hide, you don't need anyone's experience. They will always differ. |
check Lewis University, Chicago. MBA is around 25k.
Before you apply to this school for an mba, check where the alumni are currently working. That should give you an idea whether to attend that school or not. There is way too much myopic, knee jerk, shortermism around here. Mostly because many here are frankly unintelligent. There is a reason top mba’s are expensive, greater than 50% of the cost is repaid in the connections you make and type of jobs available to you. A $25000 mba is cheap today but will earn you nothing tomorrow. I’d rather take school loans to get in a top mba program, knowing I’ll make all that money back in less than 5 years at a top earning job. But of course... I’m just pissing in the wind with the kind of folks here. The serious students already left the country months ago. |
josiahese:This is ridiculous. I'm not sure why her skin color is mentioned here time and again... she's American. There seems to be this unsaid expectation that she should be more lenient to fellow blacks? She's simply applying US law, you don't like it then find another country. |
danherb:Why would you be making changes to your place of work and job description? These should not have changed within a month, if what you originally entered was the truth. As i have seen the VOs say time without number here, it is amazing how many people make "errors" on basic information. |
omoluabiguy:That's the spirit bro. No need to worry, tomorrow will always take care of itself... and here is where you do need God's favor - after you've done your work. |
omoluabiguy:lol most people just keep that option as back-up in case you don't get picked in the lottery. |
biikeys:This is why selecting top schools is vital. Applying for an H1B has become expensive so a lot of low to mid-tier companies will pass on you since they can find an equally qualified American and avoid the legal hassle to employ you. Big companies have dedicated lawyers whose job is to basically treat you like a baby until they get you a GC. You do absolutely nothing and pay zero. It's a nice life if you work hard and know how to navigate the system. It's nice to see that someone else is thinking about life after an F1 visa. Too often folks here focus so much on getting the F1 that they forget that the F1 visa doesn't last forever. |
omoluabiguy:It is not that difficult and you should not really worry. Most big companies know how the process works. As soon as they've made the decision to hire you, they will most likely assign a lawyer to you who will walk you through the entire process. Most likely the only thing they will require you to do is fill necessary forms or produce needed information - birth certificate, electronic I94, passport etc. The lawyer will take it from there. One thing that you should know, there is what is called cap H1B and noncap H1B. If you work for a non-profit (e.g. college/university), your H1B is not counted against the cap (65,000 legally available H1B visas). All you need do is apply through your employer at any time and as long as there is no problem, you should get the H1B very easily. |
omoluabiguy:1. Yes. The advanced degree applies to masters and phd. It's a smaller pool so your chances are slightly higher with a masters at least. 2. Yes. You should always be upfront that you will need sponsorship when applying. There is no upside to hiding that fact. At the tail end of the employment process, almost all major companies will ask you to fill an I-9 employment verification form. They will run your social security number (there is a website where you can run this yourself actually) to verify employment eligibility and/or ask you to provide proof of residence in the US. There is no way they won't find out so just be honest outright. If a company wants you, they will pull out all the stops to get you and get you the visas you need to stay with them. Here is the rub too, even if the company never asks, that is much worse. It simply means they took your word for it that you are a US citizen and they run payroll for you on that basis. When you now need to file for a green card, that will count against you (as part of your background check, the USCIS will request and review any I-9 form ever filed on your behalf). Most people don't know, but there is one offence that has zero chance to be waived even if you confess - lying that you are a US citizen. Once caught, you will never be allowed to obtain another US visa. 3. I would encourage that you target getting employment with your OPT then pushing for the H1B as quickly as possible. |
omoluabiguy:It's not because they are "very good in all they do". In reality, most of them are mediocre. What you need to know is that first, only 65,000 H1B visas are available each year by law. There is an extra 20,000 for those with advanced degrees. Every year, the total number of H1B applicants far outstrips the number available within the first day or two when applications become open. For this reason, the allocation is done by random lottery. There are Indian companies that solely specialize in providing Indian cheap labor to major IT companies in the US. These companies (or body shops) account for more than 80% of of H1B applicants. This is the reason why India typically gets over 70% of H1B visas every year. The downside is that everyone else's chances are slimmer because you are going against companies mass applying for thousands of Indians at once. |
SophiaLisa:You do not need to renew your F1 visa as long as you remain in the US all through to the end of your post OPT. However, i will ask you - what are your plans post OPT? I hope you are working on it RIGHT NOW, because May will be here sooner than you expect. If you have an employer, you should be pushing to apply for the H1B (ideally you should have applied in spring 2017 because it is harder to get them now if you're not Indian). Once the OPT expires, unless you renew it, you will be out of status and expected to leave the country so ma'am please get to working on the next phase. |
AngelicBeing:I was initially going to waka pass and not weigh into this debate (in order not to turn this into a religious thread)... but i really had to comment on the words in bold. In a nutshell, you have crystalized my own thoughts as well. The problem with Nigerians - they are religious BUT NOT really christians. i find it very difficult to listen to a Nigerian preacher (with the exception of Tunde Bakare) because more often than not, their messages are heavily tilted towards the "god" of the ATM. The "god" who breaths fire on our enemies (even though Matt 5:44 tells us to love and pray for our enemies), enlarges our coast (even when we have not earned it), ushers us into our year of breakthrough (what exactly does that mean?), gives us the fruits of the land (even when we have sown absolutely nothing). What you will NEVER hear from these pastors is the charge to be Holy before the Lord, you will never hear messages about patience, longsuffering, living honestly before God and man (2 Cor 8:21), obeying lawfully constituted authority (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13), doing our jobs as to the Lord - which includes being on time, not using company time for private business, being faithful to do above and beyond what we are tasked to do (Col 3:23-24). If every christian in Nigeria lived their lives according to the principles above, we would be by far one of the best nations on earth. Yet we are bedevilled by crippling corruption, poverty of character, lack of integrity and a mindset heavy on getting rich quick, as that is the only way to show that the "god of the ATM" is indeed with you. We spend too much time seeking his hands that we forget that what he has called us to do is to seek His FACE FIRST (Matt 6:33). Too many of us spewing fire and brimstone today are but one visa away from turning our backs on Him... God is a God of order, regardless of what we think, he is not going to overturn US law to grant you a visa if you are not qualified for it. Christ was on earth for 33 years during which time the Roman government placed a heavy tax burden on the Jews as a vassal state. Christ never once spoke out against it... As you have rightly said... i am not moved by the overly rehearsed recourse to "favor", "mercy" and faux "faith" by many here. It smacks of hypocrisy, of emergency religiosity, one that is borne out of desperation and hopelessness than a true desire to seek the Lord. If you want to test them, criticize them once... their response to you sounds a lot worse than what you'd expect from a pagan. |
mark0020:"God's favor" will do it. Just go and pray. |
Why do we enjoy posting pictures of horrific incidences like this? ![]() |
