samhay:Advice isn’t what you need. I don’t encourage frauds seeking b1 visas to go hide illegally. There is no guidance to he who is impervious to reason. Lastly, as this is a public forum, feel free to pass if you think I have not answered your question. |
EZEIGBO1OFIMO: |
NONNYG:And that is of importance to you how exactly? |
noblemann1:Please ask the questions here. They will be useful for others as well. |
ekiee:Phew! Thought you were the iglobal uni fellow. I don't think you need passport photos, i think that went with your application. Good luck with your interview tomorrow. |
Tekecoms1:Americans give a damn about God, far more than Nigerians do. the problem is that we have suspended our ability to reason in place of endless church going. Americans run a structured economy because they work hard at it. We rather pray for fire on our enemies. |
StackNerd:What is the common denominator to all the nations you mentioned above? They are all poor 3rd world hell holes... so of course they all "pray". Do the Danes, Germans, Japanese, Canadians also pray for US visas? Why not? Did they forget that God exists? |
The posts on this page are a sad indictment on us. Someone said i should channel my "rants" to the government... forgetting that we are the government. The government isn't some amorphous bunch of folks, they are a reflection of who we are. I have zero confidence that if we were in government, we would do any better. We'd be just as corrupt. Good luck to you, as the CBP reads these threads. |
samhay:All those did not occur in a vacuum, it started because someone decided it was not his concern if NEPA worked or not. We then decided we didn't care either, as long as we were called to "chop"... and you're surprised at your list? C'mon dude. You yourself made the comment that while you faithfully use zebra crossings in foreign countries, you flout the law in Nigeria and jay walk as you please. It's the exact same attitude our leaders have... they kowtow to foreign leaders in foreign countries, then come here and appoint commissioners for happiness because they know we won't care. |
Time2Smile:The term "troll"... the favorite word used by those who lack the intellectual wherewithal to have a debate, the last refuge of the dimwitted. 1. I actually provided my advice, you just didn't like it, because it did not square with yours... so you chose to cry louder than the bereaved. 2. If you had read my post at all, i asked that he take Lagosismyhome's advice, which was to wait and try his luck again. Rather you chose to harrumph about how it is his right to demand that the US consulate take into account the emotional toll the separation is taking on his family. My response was to let you know that a) obviously the VO who interviewed his wife did not think that was a viable argument and hence denied her F2 visa application and b) using that as an argument is a complete waste of time, as the VO could essentially tell you to come back to Nigeria to school if you're that worried about the family being separate for too long. It is not the responsibility of the US government to keep your family together - you didn't like that, so of course you've gone on a campaign of equally incoherent screeds yourself. 3. While non-immigrant visas are not for immigration purposes, the law also allows you to convert to an immigrant visa. Millions of Nigerians have done that successfully. Professor Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe are just a few examples. Nothing special there. Infact that was never the point of the debate at all... you seem to be all over the map, obviously because you're upset, not because you had a valid point to make. 4. There is nothing i have to be careful about, i don't waste time taking advice from faceless bots who call everyone else trolls when they disagree with them. Have a nice life sir. |
samhay:I'm not standing in his way. Just pointing out the fact that when next you get set to blame your leaders for the state of Nigeria, remember 4 other fingers are pointing back at your blinding hypocrisy. |
samhay:Nigeria has plenty of righteous people, if it won't listen to them, then how much more me? Besides, the last 2-3 pages of this thread is compelling evidence that Nigeria isn't interested in righteous people, just moral hypocrites willing to cheer them on the journey to bad choices. |
noblemann1: |
samhay:The answer is simple - NEVER. I cannot live in a country where people think we should justify a lack of integrity (in the name of "god" just because of hunger. |
samhay:Here is the fundamental disconnect you and I are having... you see the hunger and suffering, i do too. The problem is that you're seeing these problems in a vacuum but i am not. I see hunger and suffering as consequences of our own behavior. Behaviors such as his where no one cares for rules and we show zero concern for doing things right. The countries you are running to are not immune to suffering and hunger... they just learned to conquer those problems by exhibiting the behaviors that you think are of no concern to you. THAT is the problem and until we solve it, you and i will simply pass on that legacy of hunger and suffering to the next generation. |
Mitchely:How so? By showing him where to buy an alarm clock? I'll let you have the last word, but i find it utterly ridiculous that you're going to this length to justify being late to a visa interview. Methinks it has less to do about him... Americans are generally very friendly... try showing up late to a meeting and see how willing they are to help you. |
Englishboy:Americans do not go around asking you to file for a US visa, we line up in millions every day for it, willingly. The visas don't come for free... those fees pay to keep visa officers who receive and process your application and then interview you, the cost to run background checks on your application, print a visa for you... do you expect to receive all those for free? You have the power to stop them from using you as a business venture, you can choose not to apply at all. I doubt America will care one bit. |
Sgttanner:You definitely need to appear in person to be interviewed again by a VO. There is no escaping that. The earlier you start prepping the better. This is the thread where you can directly ask the VOs - https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening |
Englishboy:1. He is responsible for his actions... however his actions have serious repercussions for the rest of us. His actions contribute a great deal to the stereotype of Nigerians when you appear at ports of entry or foreign embassies with your passport. They have repercussions on us when you apply for a visa and wonder why the VOs seems to "dash" everyone blue papers. Perhaps its because they are tired of people like him scamming them? 2. I don't know anyone specifically, because those i know, associate with or who are family have the same mindset as i have. The end doesn't justify the means and courage, character and integrity are worth more than 10 visas. 3. Please look on google, hundreds of illegal Nigerians are deported from the US monthly. There is a recent video of Nigerians on the internet begging to be allowed to cross into Canada from the US to seek asylum as a result of Trump's immigration stance. I watched that video and for every second, regretted being born in the same country as you. |
Mitchely:Lol you're a joke. You have a visa interview, that you've been aware of for weeks. An interview that cost you in terms of an application fee, fees for standardized exams and air tickets. This interview is literally the crux on which your future hangs... and you were late for it... and we are the ones with the problem for not understanding why you were late? It seems to me that some people simply make comments, just for the sake of it. Don't worry, when he gets to the US, he should expect his professor to understand why he was late to his exam, although i worry that their "high learning" might not qualify them to understand. I thought Americans were picky about being on time, then i went for a meeting in Germany... Nigerians were still sleeping. |
LagosismyHome:Grace and favor does not come into play when it comes to a US visa. There is no grace and favor when the Japanese apply for an F1 visa, it's a smooth and easy process... no need for long prayers, incantations and false piety. The visa process isn't subjective in decent countries like Norway or Sweden or Singapore. There if you're qualified, you get the visa. Easy. It is subjective in Nigeria only because we have so bastardized the visa process that VOs are now left to assume, by default, that every Nigerian will lie on their application. They now have 3 minutes or less to decide if that is true in your case or not. The unfortunate outcome of this is that many who are genuine are going to be denied, not because they were not qualified, but they are simply collateral damage in the jungle that Nigeria has become. Over on the other thread, someone was asking for "God" to bless the hustle of someone who clearly stated he was going to obtain a B1 visa to stay illegally in the US. The fellow ended it by saying that the hustle will "end in praise". I read stuff like this and i really just want to puke. For a people so corrupt, almost every page here is littered with reference to God... which God exactly? The Nigerian version who is just as much a corrupt "hustler" as we are? |
emmanuelpopson:Those destinies were not destroyed by a genie living on the moon. If you're looking for those who destroyed Nigeria, look no further than this thread. The attitudes that ruined Nigeria are here aplenty. |
Englishboy:Actually it should be our concern. This attitude is why our country is to the point where you and i and the OP are frustrated. Nothing is our concern. Obeying laws is not our concern, following rules is not our concern, people doing their jobs as they should is not our concern, fraud isn't our concern, government isn't our concern, corruption isn't our concern... and we're surprised that the nation is an incompetent jungle that cannot offer us anything. Yet here we are, lining up for visas to countries where all these are the concern of the average citizen. It's a shame how incoherent we truly are. Thanks to his lies... we can expect even more difficult visa screenings for those coming behind us. But of course why should we care? Afterall we've got ours, screw everyone else. That is exactly how our government treats us, they've got theirs, screw us. We are one of the most selfish, myopic and self-destructive folks i have ever seen. The capacity for self introspection seems to be something missing in our genetic make up. Sure you're not encouraging fraud... but "God" should bless his hustle. I wonder which "god" you're speaking about. Surely it can't be the same God who wrote Romans 13. lol a hustle that began in fraud will end in "praise"... i wonder what they teach in church these days. I no longer recognize this "God" of which you speak. |
Time2Smile:If someone asks for advice, and you don't understand what to say or you have a problem with advice others give, how difficult can it be to just move on? The hypocrisy lies in the fact that you're long on preaching but can't even be depended on to take your own advice. Good luck. |
Time2Smile:I agree with you. There is a difference between having a difference of opinion and simply spewing internet bile because you don't like the opinion being shared. I took time to read through your posts as well... it seemed to me that you're more upset that you can't simply board a flight and go wherever you want, however you like. Sorry. I'm befuddled as to why Nigerians get overly upset when they realize that there are laws that bar them from simply being able to go to any country they wish, when they like. On the other hand, I find it funny (and perhaps laughably hypocritical) that you think Nigeria isn't a zoo... yet this very topic is on its 13th iteration, with over 400 pages each. That is at least over 5200 pages of people seeking desperately to leave Nigeria... and i have not even counted the threads on visit visas to the US, UK Australia, Canada, Germany... some Nigerians can be complete jokes. |
EZEIGBO2OFIMO:He'll most likely be late to the airport. There are some people you just can't help. |
CassieV:Thanks, it came out nice. I'd say baking is about 40 or 45 minutes, depending. Tastes good and fluffy, for the first time in my life! ![]() |
richricco:You remind me of the topic currently on the front page - the Nigerian who just got deported from India (of all places) after 6 years living illegally and who is now writing letters soliciting funds to fly his family back home. I would bet he was warned about the step he was taking at that time... i can imagine he also told those who warned him that it was not their business... Good luck with the silly shortsighted attitude. |
Ability247:My brother... i owe you a drink when you come around these parts. ![]() |
I followed the video from beginning to the end, then realised just as i was about to put the baking tins in the oven that it did not mention the addition of baking powder! ![]() I added baking powder to the batter just before putting in the oven. Fingers crossed. So adding the baking powder at the end did work. The cake has risen and so far so good. However, it takes more than 30 minutes to bake! I'm doing about an hour right now. |
