babdap: I am not sure if Murray has any sense, sharing such a post shows he is not an elder statesmen called drama. What I find interesting is both are actually different. I will actually assume Nigerians will find Achebe's works easier to read than Soyinka's. Achebe is more of a novelist while Soyinka's best works are plays. Soyink's best period was writing plays and in the theatre. He may have gotten the prize for his versatility in dabbing into criticism, poetry and novels but the prize undoubtedly will largely be based on of his plays and helped by other genres he dabbled into. |
Business › Re: Dangote Is Selling Dangote Flour Mills For N130 Billion ($361.11 Million) by Twy: 8:35pm On Apr 23, 2019 |
Campaign4truth: Dangote is simply diversifying his business portfolio. The flour business must still be profitable to attract any investor at all. However it appears a lot is going into the Refinery and Tomato business, so it would make sense to let go of the weaker business to fund the "cash cow". You have to leave us Nigerians, we cannot divest emotional or personal issues from speaking. First folly was the idea that the flour mill is loosing money, it is not as at early last year. It may have sustained a lower profit than the year before. But it does not look like it was loosing money. Second dangote seems to have left the sugar , salt and flour business to others to manage. It actually makes sense if you do not trust nigerians to manage it to sell it. He is highly diversified with the lekki project. The lekki project and cement seems to be what he actively or seems to actively manage. Ppl do not know that after a while a lot of successful businessmen in that country leave day to day running of the firm to executives while they handle social, political or economic relations. |

Where is my brilliant ChristianNorth bro, your input is needed here. Actually INEC has to prove nothing. For an election to be overturned the appellant will prove that the irregularities and rigging led to the loss. The evidence of rigging means little if it proved to be widespread and significantly affect the final tally. Also, that server result is bogus. If you follow election results there are just to many outliers or differences with previous elections. |

Westsida: He said part of the challenges faced by the South-south is defining well-articulated and implementable development agenda, adding, “A lot has been done in the region over the years but they have not translated to meaningful development to benefit our people, as the region remains one of the least developed in the country when you review what we earn as a region.”
The Children of hate & sadness won’t see this to work on. Their main focus is to keep displaying nonsense around the country. There are different problems, number one is lack of a strong and active citizenship involvement in government. That is a problem all over the country. It is obvious wike is too involved in party politics, the state's resources may also be used for party politics. The people need to pressure him to focus on local issues and governance. In addition, still mend fences with the federal government Who have a larger influence in Inter state commerce. The other issue is the weakening of state's civil service. In the 60's and 70's, the regional and state civil service had competent people but now most are in federal service. You need local information to plan a real development. Information about the income of people living in local governments, choice of economic activity, skill level, unemployment rate and such. A competent administration will get this information and createte economic programs targetting areas that will benefit a signoficant number of people. What you have in nigeria is substandard politics 101, bring me projects where the people can see I am doing something even though we do not know how the project has improved to sustainable economoc development, especially since ghe choice of contractor is corrupt and the government itself will get kickback from it. Corruption in government is not about wanton stealing it is about finding projects that will get the people's support while you put in your contractor and use the project to loot. But the long term significance of yue project may be negligible. |

So you mean you guys didnt read the part where the prosecution said they brought 3 witnesses out instead of 6 and the defence should indicate if the remaining witnesses should be broughy forward?? Now ask yourself.. Why that question?? And what was the defense' response?? Some peeps will just come here to show acute foolishness over matters they cant seem to understand.. Corrupt politicians everywhere. Even people would have you believe ibori was a saint if he hadn't been sentenced in the UK. May God heal Nigeria. I believe the truth is in the middle. Either the EFCC is soft peddling trying to get him to resign. If he falsely declared his assets what were his assets at time of declaration and not today. Total in bank account means little unless he has little knowledge of money. What they need to show are the transactions during mg the period. Even if they want to go further what are the main sources of transactions. That is where you can then investigate if he was receiving by Bribe. This will become a tourist attraction sooner rather than later. Money maker $$$ Thank you for this. It has hard to actually think about developing Nigeria when you have to debate with people whose ideas are from foreign lands. People want skyscrappers but how many African non capital cities are filled with skycrappers. They would rather let government build it or blame government for lack. If you want to build post modern architecture you need to develop businesses that are global who will have funds to pay and maintain the buildings, mostly post- modern businesses. Something that is hard for Nigerians to do. And starting with building an ''Igbo city'' will just give you want you have already, probably follow ppl need to support their politicians who want to develop existing infrastructure than some pipe dream. |

SouthEastFacts: A lot of Ijebus believe that they are the original owners of Jerusalem and migrated from Sudan after the conquest of Jebu land by King David who gave the conquered territory a Hebrew name.
While Yorubas believe that they descended from Oduduwa, the Jebus don't believe they descended from Oduduwa, even the King of Ijebus
According to Reno Omokri, Ijebus are not originally Yorubas, in fact, he stated there was no word like Yoruba before the 18th Century.
You can read a summary of Reno's work here
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/09/the-ijebu-the-yoruba-and-their-influence-on-the-bible-and-judaism-reno/
If this is true, then we are right to say Lagos is not a Yoruba state going by the fact that some almost half of Lagos are Ijebu land and the other half, Aworis and the Aworis don't see themselves as Yoruba.
According to Prince Adebiyi, a Prince of Awori, Lagos belongs to the Aworis and not Bini or Yoruba that Bini only produces the Oba.
https://thecitizenng.com/lagos-belongs-to-awori-not-bini-or-yoruba-prince-adebiyi/
Professor Imran, another Awori noble but from noble family collaborated this submission.
He claimed like Prince Adebiyi that Aworis owe Lagos land while Bini produces the Oba who pays tribute to the Oba of Bini till the 18th Century when the British stopped that to undermine the authority of the Oba of Bini.
Another interesting thing he said is that most streets in Lagos are either Awori names or a combination of Awori and Bini names like Idunmota.
He equally stated that the Oba is from Bini while the Chiefs are Aworis.
https://punchng.com/awori-own-lagos-land-bini-produce-oba-prof-smith/
I think it is time the records are set straight. Lagos state does not belong to Yorubas.
No be talk am, na the Oba of Benin, the Ijebu King and Princes of Awori land. Ijebu's are yoruba. All the Sudan stuff is just legend. A group cannot travel from north Africa to near the Atlantic coast without some assimilation. Worse, their dialect is same as their neighbors that is niger-Congo. They do not have a dialect similar to north Africa or the Mediterranean. Like many civilizations, cultures may have mixed, the only thing one can think off is that a conquering group may have conquered the original inhabitants but that group will be close not far off. |

Why did you think Lagos' election results took days to be released after all south western states have released their results? This Saturday's election would shock many and they know it. They think only those who voted against the apc were igbos...as if every yoruba must be compelled to vote their candidate...if such should happen then qe are no longer practising democracy. they've been carrying out huge publicities all along because they know they could lose in the forthcoming governorship election but hey! How could somebody perform so much as a governor and you still removed him for your selfish reasons? That's Tinubu for you...a selfish man. You have to give it to some people. My country likes to pull itself down. All ideologies and beliefs that are inimical to progress are what sells in that country. Maybe it is our superstitious past, I do not know. People follow Reno Omokri all over the place, but few people are aware that Atiku's business partner, Volpi invested over $500 million in Wale Tinubu's Oando which may have been on behalf of Atiku. The interest of the elites are intertwined, they can fight but they will still be on top because of their networks. The case is even worse in the north, where whether it is PDP or APC, the elites are so connected in business and marriage that they will still survive. The joke on is the people, as long as we are stupid and continue to promote regressive views, progress will be hard. |

The governors are not that popular and Buhari's performance is subpar. A lot of internet political trolls go deeper into ethnic, regional and social issues but fail to focus on important factors such as employment rate and inflation rate. Buhari was supported by majority largely because the Pdp were not performing and many felt it was worth a chance to try him and after four years, some felt he was not worth the hassle. Historically, Buhari is actually not well liked by many (take a look at his votes in 2003-2011) but the alliance with AC and PDP's fumbling made people look at him again at a different angle and hence he was able to win in 2015. Right now a strong base of his support is based on the support for the party against PDP. Not necessarily because of his personality, which is not the case in the north. Buhari should just focus on the job, he has won and he should go and look at what he can do better |
