henchamb:I think PDP won |
Zlatimi:premium times lead is 12.5 k for adeleke. It will be close but who knows. I think whoever wins tried but with the margins. I will say most likely rigged. |
Iamoilprince:pdp may win if they don't rig it. It depends on the APC votes of Osogbo and Olorunda |
boriswole:that is similar to what I am getting |
flowmama:my premium times difference is 22k with adeleke leading |
MrJanuzaj:That was a surprise. I hope they are not rigging the results. Ejigbo ward votes were all over the place with no clear lead |
keeeem:I am using premium time LGA results. From 15 lga's adeleke is leading by 14k |
keeeem:That is my problem with this election, the media and the politicians from both parties are playing a game. You leave out results from all the key local governments only boripe and ede. Elections are not hard to predict if all results trickle around the same time. But here it seems they are managing the release. If APC beats PDP by 25k in Osogbo and Olorunda. They will win.If the margin is like 10 k they may loose. |
3millionia:I am using them to calculate, Adeleke is leading by 18k from the results on their website. |
dammiecool:Right now I have Adeleke leading by 20k from 11 local governments including edo north and south. |
Zlatimi:What I said is I don't know, I checked ward results and not many are showing from those LGA's. The battle is between APC and PDP votes not about who leads in each local government. It is the total votes. |
flowmama:To me still not a key LGA result. |
Godjone:Actually, I think APC will win. The results coming out look to be managed. that means key lga's are still not coming out, I checked ward's result and many from those lga's are not out. watch out for Osogbo, Olorunda, Ife central, ife east, ilesa east, and Iwo. The other's will cancel each other, apart from Ede, the difference between APC and PDP will be in the thousands minus those local governments I mentioned. Which ever between APC or PDP win those votes in the LGAs wins. I think, APC knows or managing results from those areas. |
AllTheWayUp:And this is my problem with the country, we have embraced the dirty side of manipulation, Saraki must never return to the senate. The sad thing is that, another man the deputy senate is there who is a little bit more open even though he may be corrupt but his faculty is used for thinking about how to develop the country not 419 calculations. I suspected Daura is the one initiating this based on his own intelligence but Saraki would have been informed about before Daura makes his move. And Daura moves look like it was influenced by military thinking not caring which side falls, the ultimate beneficiary is the military. I am just saying, IBB or even Danjuma may be aware about all this moves. |
isn't it time we move on from this abacha pr. It can only come from people who benefited from the government. Abacha's government was obviously stale and depressing. His performance was obviously poor like many of his predecessors. The sad thing about this crap is the miseducation of Nigerians. Through part or no fault of his, Nigeria's economic and business circle was going into a precipice in 1993 and finally rock in 1994. Many people suddenly became poor and industries crashed. Abacha saving or stealing was the wrong move and few benefited while many people and institutions did not recover. Nepa and water supply was bad but became worse in the 90's and since then it never recovered. Industries were suffering but many finally crashed and never recovered. It was no really his fault but culmination of continuous misgovernance. But he never did anything to change the nation-s direction for better. The most stupid thing he ever did was planning to lead the nation without thought. He was corrupt and probably below reasonable level of intelligence. |
Deji63:He is a disappointment as a minister, I don't know what he did or he is doing there, probably just signing documents. Maybe the governorship was always his target. |
jamace:the truth is that it is not clear, the only wording supporting them is inefficiencies and others relate to waste or misuse of funds. Why I said it is because that constitution was a military imposed constitution and there are some ppl who believe it needs many adjustments. I see some even writing America, they know little about there country. The constitution is not perfect and has never been perfect. I can honestly tell you that the word inefficiency is ambiguous out of the four reasons given, three are about corruption or waste. |
jamace:Actually, you guys do not understand how the law can be interpreted. Falana wrote “The only other occasion where a public officer can be summoned by the National Assembly is when proceedings are ongoing to expose corruption (Section 88) and when a law is being debated either with a view to amending it or to have a new law entirely.” He interpreted that section to mean when the legislature is investigating corruption. To be honest, that section is ambiguous and it will be left to a court to determine the limitations of a summons. Both side can interpret it as they wish. A strict interpretation will likely result in what Falana said and loose interpretation may favor the senate. |
samzzycash:A major difference is the construction period will be 2 or three years. The client will pay on time and the construction interest rates are 3-7% annually. In Nigeria, the construction period is 8 years, government will not pay on time and will never pay you the full amount and the interest rates are 20-25% annually. |
NwaliE01:The project went through different stages, the last I remember, years ago was 17 billion. However, there are different factors that make government jobs inflated and I am not speaking of corruption. Government has a notoriety for not paying 100% of a contract sum. The calculation is 70%. The second issue contractors use is the cost of borrowing money. Because of government's screwed up accounting, contractors budget the cost of borrowing money to complete projects, in Nigeria construction loan can be 20-25% annually. So when people do business with government, projects are marked up to 100%. It it not the fault of the contractor, if you ask Julius berger, government probably is still owning them money for contract 20 years ago. In the company I used to work for that is what they do because the federal government had never paid them 100% before and the pay were staggered over years, even sometimes three years after completion of the project. So to a businessman, he borrowed money at high rates to complete a project and not expected to see full payment after the project is completed, then the cost of doing business goes up naturally. The money might sound a lot but because the government may not pay them 100% contract sum and the loans used to complete the project you should not be surprised if the profit margin is less than 15% |
revolt:Most likely but there were also some secretive ones. Okotie Eboh most or the family lost some wealth after his death. Supposedly one of major businessman in the 1970s got his start as Okotie's front. Another potential one is JMJ, another silent guy. Balewa was never the boss, Bello was the boss, Balewa knew what was going on but Bello wanted them to stay for political reasons. |
I discussed a similar issue with a foreigner. One issue is value, we place too much value on our interest so when we enter into any form of exchange, we have to find a way to extract the most value or gain at the expense of any other party or parties. If we want to sell the preferred way is to sell the cheapest at a considerable higher price or sell quality good at a ridiculous price beyond the benefit to the buyer. A contractor or government employee job is to provide the most gain to his interest greater than the value to the job or the public. An employer is to pay the lower wage and extract a higher benefit. We are in a circle of seeking to extract the most gain by providing little. |
Rossikk:don't fall into this type of thinking. It is called research and caring for the environment. We like statism or the devil I know is better. A lot of countries do not even use indigenous grasses. you can find grasses suitable for most regions with adequate rainfall. Actually almost all parts of the world have fauna. In the north there are plants that will flourish. Actually there are two major plants if maintained will stop desertification in the most arid regions because they do not need much water. Your leaders know this but we are what I call organic and fresh, we do too little tinkering with things. |
Rossikk:not as expensive we are just not into trying new things constantly. There are grasses that could be planted and the major cost is a lawn mower but we prefer concrete.OAU had grasses planted in most surroundings for a long time. |
The sad thing is the article came out a while ago and ppl are now saying it is the best article read this year. |
Go and ask George Fiddes, Charles Strachey, Lord Lugard, Reginald Antrobus and Lewis Harcourt |
TheHistorian:The universities have been corrupt since the 1970s, starting in the mid to late 1970s. A lot of the universities then became federally owned and the so-called council headed by pro-chancellor were mostly federally selected ex-politicians. The council awarded most of the major contracts in concert with the VC. The lecturers did not make noise because they were fairly paid. |

BuariCopyPaste:Unongo can be a rabble rouser sometimes, but a point of correction, his relevance was minimal in the fight for independence. Two, his thoughts are confusing, he said Awolowo was the strongman of Yoruba politics and at the same time, he said Awo was unknown by many Yoruba people. Third, people never considered the issue that Zik who was the party leader mishandled the politics of the Western region, NCNC had good support in most cities but they were less relevant in the small towns and villages, a lot of NCNC leaders in the west came from city elites. even in 1950, NCNC still had a sizable support in Shagamu and Ikenne, Awo's base, I think up to 1949, the area was majority NCNC. NCNC lost the election because they taught they deserved to be voted instead of fighting for votes, they easily could have won the west. AG's campaign aroused the interest of those in the villages, small towns and those who felt that their position in life will rise as a result of AG's policies. It is because Nigeria's intellectual discourse is rigged by tribalism is what led a lot to believe Zik was a great leader, he was likely not, Ahmadu Bello dusted him in leadership qualities(motivating the ppl to vote for party) and Awo dusted him in the west. On tribalism, I think Zik lost because he was not in control of the Ibadan politicians. |
abescom:It came late to realise that Buhari may have some disabilities, he seems to be one of those idiot savants that are good in one thing are just thoroughly deficient in other things. In politics, he is week, he screwed up his party to bring in his friends who are not party people, so you have Kingibe as one of the anonymous consultants of this administration. Osinbajo was considered capable but was sidelined, the foreign press have noted that he is getting subpar advice from his friends but he refused to listen. Saraki got in through the backdoor with this same group, they are just the old politicians of yore whose leadership is based on loose coalition of self interests, it is not about the people, ideology or doing anything worthwhile is it about power and access to power and the potential it could have on them(proven) and their region(game of thrones never helped any region). |
engineerboat:From my research it was under Arts in 2000 and changed around 2003 |
Olumaeme:An issue is that Punch stated that their investigations showed that when he graduated it was in Science. It depends on who is right. |
