No we don't. It's the Luos who do and the tradition is almost dead. It was the main reason HIV affected Luos more than any community in Kenya. They were the second largest group in Kenya after Kikuyu before HIV. Now they're barely in the top five.

Wanjala is a name of other luhya subtribe called bukusu

In my sub tribe we don't name people because of weather or climatic events
Mostly we are named after geographical features
Like rivers , hills , even plants and animals
