XhosaNostra: I was just making an example that people still have a purpose for things that use paraffin. You cannot bake a perfect pot bread on an electric stove for instance, but you can with a paraffin stone because you have maximum control on how high or low it burns, which is why many households still have a paraffin stove stashed away somewhere. As for lamps, well, those are really horrible, I know. The point I'm trying to make is, the more things change, the more they remain the same. Okay i get you |

XhosaNostra: You're being a bit idealistic & not being realistic in the statement above. I know abantu abamnyama well, especially old ladies, they usually stick to what they know, so the chances of the above happening, are zero. For an example, where I grew up, we got our connection in '95 or thereabouts, but people are still using paraffin & see it as a "cheaper" alternative to electricity. We have very cold winters here & most people combat them with paraffin heaters instead of electric ones for one excuse or another. At my childhood home, cooking certain things on the electric stove was a definite no-no (apparently the taste changes or whatever, according to my mom's imagination)& as a result, we still alternate between a paraffin stove & an electric one. My point is, nothing will change as most people will stick to doing things the same way they've always done them, with the exception of lighting of course...everybody hates paraffin lamps.
The lazy children of those magogos should rather do the needful Kenya doesn't have winters But Kenyans living in huts use this small paraffin lamps with alot of smoke Electricity is much cheap than paraffin and healthy |

Africa2019: Shame on all of you. This discussion is a good example of why its so hard for this continent to get ahead.Very divisible people with extremely fragile egos.
What does it benefit anyone when you tear each other down like this?
Wonder why its so easy for African countries to be interfered with, look no further, these are the kind of people this continent has.All of Africa needs to be united as much as possible to get started with the very big task of catching up with the rest of the world, but these are the so called young people of Africa who are supposed to lead us to the future, shame shame shame. Calm down we are only having fun . Please tell us what you have done to unite Africans . |

theenchanter: so, u plagiarized mynd4.4 post abi?
But seriously speaking, PZ is not a Nigerian company but UK's while PZ Nigeria Plc is a subsidiary of the parent company.
All those subsidiaries u're calling a country's company remits revenue to their parent companies. I have no problem with Nigerian companies investing in Kenya They pay tax and invest in our economy But that doesn't mean that without Nigerian companies Kenyan economy will crumble |

obaaderemi: What happened next was : after selling their 25% stake in Equity Bank, they used the money to buy Telkom Kenya and bought up a 12% stake in Africa Oil and acquired oil assets in Kenya. And yes, UBA Nigeria is very profitable.
I like you, Tylan Boy,you must be a good student and I sense you would be a great diplomat one day but you are spending way too much time on this Nigerian site arguing about what-da-fvck.It ruins the mind.Ask Tasha and Mtis. But if you think you are learning something here, then continue to tag along. It's all good. Ooh boy How i spend my time on nairaland is none of your concerns , iam here to stay anyway So buying 12% stake In Kenyan company that means you own Kenya |
