My own is,
Catholic tradition is wrong for sending that girl home, her dressing was not bad.

Catholics keep maintaining old traditions and beliefs that drives a lot of people into pentecostalism, yet they are the first to condemn the wrongs of pentecostals forgeting that they caused it in the first place.

Look at how they imprisoned Gallelio to death for saying the truth that the earth was spherical.
They did it out of traditional beliefs, not Christ.

All I'm saying is, too much tradition is bad
I don't think she was sent home, she was asked to get a jacket or a scarf to cover up with and she decided to gegely go home.

I have been in the east severally, I remember the last time I saw this happen, the lady was on the line for communion when the usher called her aside and asked her to get a scarf to cover up with, she simply went to her seat to see who had an extra scarf, then she went back to join the communion line.

the lady in question didn't want to stress herself.

lastly and more importantly modesty is a Christian practice not a traditional belief unless you understand that the tradition of the Church is Christian tradition. asking people to dress well in a religious setting is an excellent and laudable thing and you tagging it "traditional" is simply an attempt to give it a bad name so you can condemn it.

Galileo was kept under arrest in his mansion for teaching that the Bible must be reinterpreted to favour every new hypothesis that haven't even been accepted by the scientific community, he was a Christian scientist who mistakenly ended up teaching theology and his theology was suspected of heresy

Catholic Church always had a sense for modesty, we don't do it to the extreme, we don't say all must reach the ankles and wrist but we certainly won't allow handless or lap length. do things in moderation

Anyhow, dressing is subjective. What is indecent in Nigeria is decent in America.

Consistently, it has always been hyper-religious hypocrites that always want to limit what women can wear.
since it is subjective and we are in Nigeria, then she should obey the rules here, when she goes to America she can wear crop top to Church.

decency and modesty are important even for men

This thread was inspired by another thread where a woman went to Facebook to complain that a church had turned her back because of her attire. I saw many people condemning the church and i marvelled.

And then...my mind flashed back to a message on modest dressing by Apostle Gino Jennings.

Although the message is jarring, it is 100% undiluted truth, supported by the scriptures.

The truth is, society is decaying daily and modesty and decency is being sacrificed on the altar of conformity and so called 'liberalism'.

Watch the Apostle's fiery teaching on female modesty and I hope it will inspire you like it did me. He uses mannequins to illustrate the madness that passes for 'modernity' these days.

Lev.19:19

“You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material.

Deut.22:8

"When you build a new house, put a parapet around the roof, so that you do not bring bloodguilt upon your house if someone falls off.

James 2:10

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. While we pray for God's mercy on us and the whole world, I want to use this opportunity to celebrate all Catholic mothers on this thread. It matters not if you've posted, reacted or just read postings on this thread; as long as you, a female, have and perform a maternal responsibility towards one created in an image and likeness of God, this shout out is to you. I pray the Lord to establish the works of your hands, bless your homes and make you fruitful.

Should you want to calculate mother's day ahead for some reasons, Just target the feast of annunciation, it occurs on the 25th of March, that's when the Church celebrates the motherhood of Mary, as upon the hearing of the angel's message and her fiat, the Holy spirit overshadowed her immediately; and the word took flesh. So Mothering Sunday is normally observed on the nearest Sunday to 25th March. However, if any of those dates falls on the beginning or end of the Holy week, i.e, Palm Sunday or Easter, it is moved to the next Sunday after Easter.

Cc. Antie Debbie, ChineloSA, Okpurukata,

Happy Mothering Sunday and a splendid week ahead.
happy mother's day to all mums especially mine

official clothes doesn't immediately qualify as Church clothes. she already knows her Church frowns against sleeveless and net dresses without a covering.

I'm really struggling to see the indecent exposure here.
in a Catholic Church one wears clothes with sleeves and avoid transparent and extra tight outfit or cover up with something like a scarf, this is Church premises and those who are strong must not scandalise the weak. she should already know this most churches have it boldly written.

Very sorry! The Pope is wrong here. The Bible which is the authoritative word of God warns us against that. Lev. 19:28

The Pope is a human being and not God. He cannot set aside God's word with human reasoning.

Avoid tattoo, it doesn't just connect you with people, it opens you up to demonic activities.
do you also avoid trimming your beard and wearing clothes made of two fabric types because the law also condemns that.

From your name “Ubenedictus”, it’s very obvious you are Igbo, and majority of Igbo are Catholics , meaning you will likely support and behave like him (the Pope)and have his kind of mentality.

How can a real Christian will so fraternise with a religion which is constantly antagonising his Christian faith up to the extent of fellowshiping and worshiping with them in their Santuary , praying to their god , reading their holy book and even keeping it in their library.

Infact anytime I check the history of Rome and Vertical , I am sometimes tempted to feel that the Muslim world today is almost what the catholic world was so many years ago.
Even up till now , they have some distinctive similarities.
of course my username is ubenedictus and it indicate I am Christian and Catholic... but I'm not Igbo, stop the ethnic profiling.

the Bible say follow peace with all men, before Paul preach in Athens he went around and saw what they worshipped and saw the image of the unknown God which was the basis of his teaching, if you don't know what they believe and you are seen as antagonistic then you have little hope of converting them.

lastly when I check the violent origins of Protestantism I also see the similarities with the Muslim fundamentalist.

the christian church never used tattoo to pass out message, tatoo originated from pagans.

Christians know that their body is the temple of the holy ghost and will not defile it with tattoos.

Roman catholic church has always promoted paganism and exalted Satan over God but her end will come.
She had lead billions of innocent souls astray.
actually it seems the Church in Ethiopia did use tattoo to spread out the message.

not everything is paganism, you guys seems so focused on labelling things that you have missed the message.

nothing u eat drink or even draw that defile the body, nothing that goes in defiles, it is what comes out that is the defilement.

So your Pope is right for urging priest to draw tattoos enh?

No wahala we shall meet the Lord, then all this defence of error shall be interesting.

Listen, if my Bishop Oyedepo appends Tattoo, i will condemn that teaching.

The Pope is not speaking for Jesus. Anyone who says do what the Lord has said don't do, is of the devil, square and simple. He knows who he stands for.
lol, you have brought out obsolete commands just to bring condemnation, commands I'm sure you guys don't obey, you guys trim your beard and your hair which is condemned and you are here talking about tatoo, I will bet you are wearing a cloth made from more than one type of fabric which leventicus condemns but you don't obey those one but present these obsolete laws to condemn the pope that is cherry picking.

One thing is common to all heretics: they always condemn themselves, in order words they will always be sinners before God till their death. Such is you! Your faith flows faster than turbulent ocean waves, yesterday you said one thing today you have another thing to say. You are not convinced about anything. Didn't you say previously that He was baptized to "identify with sinners", now you have added yet another thing. Are you not confused? Anyway you said to "fulfill all righteousness" means to do justice. What justice did Christ do with His baptism?
it seems you lack an attentive mind, it seems you didn't remember when you jumped into the discussion go back and read post 9, I already explained this,

I said

the Greek say it was fitting and appropriate but it doesn't
say anyone transferred sins to Jesus or that an aaronic
priest is the priest of the new covenant.
the reason it is fitting is right there in scripture, when
coming out of water the spirit descends on him, that
fulfills the word of God to John.
secondly by allowing himself the baptism of repentance
he identify with sinners and it accounted as a sinner as
prophesied by Isaiah 53,

so I didn't just begin adding things, it fulfilled what God wanted, the savior in Isaiah 53 will be counted among sinners, that is how he identified with sinners, he took a baptism of repentance like them even though he had no sin.

I have been consistent throughout this thread you seem unable to keep up.

There is no code there, you say
but it no doubt was furtively done so PastorAIO, Emmanystone and I wouldnt know

Well, you've certainly by now, read me give an account of a firsthand experience with a "perfectionist"
(i.e. the story of the pastor pretending or impying he doesnt ever lie)
so I dont see how this your perfectionism has anything to do with me
nor in the first place, why ever, my moniker was listed with the 3 people addressed
you guys were all on the thread, I shorten the 3 usernames, I am surprised you think I was referring to you in code in connivance with pastoraio, that is pretty surprising... are you Almighty God that I have to talk about in fear? I just don't get it.

I made a post in a thread where you guys are active and you think I was hiding it from you, aio responded without crying wolf about his username but you guys hold yourselves in such regard that to you a shorten username a a sign of ..... I just don't get it.

this is a post you made on that thread among others that made me wonder if your theology has a room for human failure among members of the body of Christ.
you wrote:

Yes, the best thing to do will be to leave the place
because they do not represent Christ there. But, leaving
a place like that, doesn't mean you should leave Christ,
because, none of those men are you model, Christ is.
And, as long as you didn't see any of their trait in
Christ, you follow He who called you to everladting life.
That's why we have a Bible. You don't throw in the
Towel and say, 'Christianity is a Farce', because Men
have become senseless.

there you and aio seemed to advocate leaving a congregation if sin if found there as if it was supposed to b perfect.
later you wrote

Anything less than practising pure and faultless
religion that God approves of, is not true and so
thereby is false religion

again the perfection of Christian living just without it flaws in human nature.

I responded cautiously saying I may b wrong about expounding your views...aio certainly felt that wasn't his view you on the other hand thinks I was gossiping about you in code. this is my post in question

I may be wrong but I see aio and emmany and mutty
speak of religion in its purest idealistic form and
anathemize anything that fall under and below and I
am almost tempted to ask if any of you guys live out
the religion you profess...
in my personal experience and in the experience of
those around me it isn't perfect, we fall under often,
in fact Catholics make a point of describing Christian
life as the personal workspace of the HOLY spirit
who constantly re-converts us, remake us and
remold us.... in fact the awareness that I am living in
Grace isn't the most interesting thing in my Christian
life, it is instead that act of falling down on my
kneels as God exposes parts of my life and attitudes,
behavior and thoughts I have falsely built and leads
me to a new path....that is for me one of the best
effects of grace.
living below what is perfect has not made me a
lesser Christian, it has led me forward it is part of
what is genuinely Christian, the Christian is not a
perfect product, in my experience he is God's work in
progress.
I don't agree with you guys that a Christian doesn't
steal, cheat, fornicate or commit sin, cos he does,
his benefit is simply the remaking, renewing and
converting power of the HOLY spirit. I have never
seen the Christian Church as a gathering of the
perfect, that is Calvinist, for me it is a hospital for
sinners, constantly healing and been healed....
I don't agree with this idea of perfection you guys
seem to advocate.

Thegospelman:
Until you begin the journey of abandoning your own human thought you cannot start to understand the Scriptures. Furthermore, if you are not fair-minded, ready to search the Scriptures to find out whether certain doctrines you hold dear in your heart are right, you will certainly die in your ignorance and end up in hell for sure. Jesus Himself told John the Baptist the reason why he should allow Him to be baptized "for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness". But you are saying a different thing.
well you should begin the journey of rejecting the human myths invented yesterday that you have absorbed and makes you think that John was a high priest.

you can accuse me of dying in ignorance but you seem happy to die in heresy.

the term "fulfill all righteousness" simply means to do all justice, to do that which is my duty... and all righteousness was fulfill he showed the example of baptism to all Christians, confirmed the word of prophesy John received and identified himself more closely to those he came to save.

but certainly baptism doesn't mean to pass over and it is a lie to teach that John was a high priest passing sins to Jesus.

I'll now go ahead tell an incident, to allay your misconception about what you seem to think I advocate, when you lumbered me with PastorAIO and Emmanystone on the "Des Pensees" thread

At least over 15 years ago, we were having a relaxed and easy-going chat at the home of the pastor where we used to fellowship.
The chit chat drifted to him narrating a situation involving him and some other parties over an issue
During the course of the conversation, the pastor friend threw in, like as in a matter of fact and case of frankness, that:
"you know, I just said it because you know, I can't lie..."

We left and upon getting back home, whilst in the bedroom, reliving the day's event, I asked my other half, and said:
Hang on, what was he trying to say?. Is he trying to imply he doesnt lie?. He doesnt ever lie?

My other half, smiled and then laughed, kikiki ki.

sorry for quoting the same post 3 times.

5solas:
True, the Council of Orange was Christian and condemned Pelagianism. That of Trent on the other hand was unchristian having airtel its goal the erosion of the gains of the Reformation. It is also in conflict with that of Orange.
the council of Trent wasn't to erode the good gains of the Reformation... that just isn't exactly true, anyone who read about that era will agree that there were thieves in the Church, people misconstruing doctrine for personal gains, lax ministers etc. the Church was at a turbulent time and many Catholics including Luther requested that a council should be called to address these issues. the Reformation arose to condemn these issues... unfortunately the council wasn't called early and Luther had dived into heresy and schism when it was finally called.

Trent actually solidified the good gains made by the Reformation, and pursued away the thieves in the Church, reformed the lives of the clergy, and revitalized the Church through the holy spirit, it also condemned the heresy the reformers fell into. it took the good gains and rejected the false ones
