Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Uchboggy(m): 2:44pm On May 16, 2018
Hello Gurus in the house,

i really dont know where to start from. i am a total novice to this canada visa thing even though i live in Europe.

my Wife-to-be has been admitted for masters in Canada and we are in the process of applying for her visa so i decided to check nairaland so we get it right once and for all. Hence i have several questions. P.S i have been reading the previous threads (and still reading)

my questions are:

What is the major difference between applying online and offiline? which is preferable? if i apply online where/when does VFS come in?

we started the online application process but i have not seen any point where i am to upload a SOP(or is it given another name?), all i saw was passport, proof of funds, letter of acceptance, digital photo and family info.

i heard people talk about medical test, where does that come in too?

Then as for sponsorship, her elder brother is standing as her sponsor-- he is a business man and has the sufficient fund but he doesn't have any business registration(like company account or CAC registration). we were advised to package him as an employee of his friends company(what do you think?), if we do this would the statement need to show monthly salary payments ?

Then as for her, she works in a bank and she is going to study economics. does the reference letter from her employer need to state her current job function/role or it should just state that she is a staff. (she can actually dictate the content of the later to an extent).

I have so many seemingly trivial questions to ask, i would appreciate if a GURU can just dedicate their time to answer me as much as possible and not mind my naivety. or better still ask me to pm you or send you an email.

Thanks guys.

I'm sorry to ask. In a case I want to apply for a Visa... Must my sponsor be someone that lives in Nigeria or Norway? Secondly, will they debit my sponsor's account before granting me a visa? Thank you.
your sponsor can be anywhere in the world but he would have to transfer that money to an account which the school would provide , it’s the receipt from that transfer that you use to apply for Visa

I heard finding work in Norway without a good knowledge of the Norwegian language is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

don’t worry you’ll travel, it’s just time. It would come. I spent the last 25 year in Nigeria. And just one or two outside but I have been to over 15 countries already and counting.

Nice thread guys,

I will be going to the World Cup(Russia 2018). Myfirst World Cup ever and I’m so freaken exited. Would be going with two other friends.

Who else would be going. Let’s hook up. Or who wishes to go (that is you have the funds) but don’t know how to go about it (especially if you’re outside nigeria).

Being at the World Cup is quite more straightforward and less expensive than they make it seem.

Love to hear from you guys.

Definitely, but the decision is vested with the consular
not always o. In some cases like Russian Visa you are allowed to choose if you want single or multiple

Lol, I didn’t bring bullion van neither am I from a very wealthy family.
My survival strategy is simple. I have an investment I have been doing for over 3 years ago since I was in Nigeria. So it has been paying my bills. As simple as it sounds that’s it.

Hi, I just got accepted to study MSc Universal Design of ICT at HIOA (OsloMet)... Please I need to know, how good the university is? What are my chances of getting a job (ICT) after graduation and are those accommodation fees of over $500 equivalant paid monthly? Most importantly, my sponsor does not want to pay directly to anyone's account other than his or mine. Is there any way I open an account (International or Norwegian) while still in Nigeria that will be approved during my visa application? Thanks.

I’ll answer to the best of my ability,

Yes the $500 fees are paid monthly. Housing here is very expensive compared to Nigeria.

Also, I don’t think there is a way around paying the money to the school account for your Visa application. It’s the procedure.

Freddywells, I strongly advise that you don’t come to norway because you would get a job after school. The chances are slim to be honest

Intact, it's the most dangerous place in Johannesburg.

So my trip to Hungary and Austria came to an end today (please watch this space for the video documentary coming soon) and these where some observations and decisions I made.

1. When traveling between neighboring European countries always go for the bus option(FlixBus). It has some advantages over train(except you wanna just experience a luxury train ride). Firstly it is cheaper(I paid 31€ for train while bus was 9€). Secondly train doesn’t really passes inside the city so with train you don’t get to see a lot of city views during the trip. And trust me the bus is 100% luxury (don’t compare with anything we have in Nigeria)

2. In my opinion,If you ask someone in a non-English-speaking European country(Norway excluded) if they speak English(in order to seek directions ) and their reply is ‘A Little’ then you are better off not asking because it means they don’t understand but they still wanna help(so sweet If then though)

3. Last but not least, for your own good DONT PLAN YOUR TOUR DURING WINTER!!!. I literally froze at some point during the tour. At a point it was more of suffering than fun. Plan your travels to cold countries between April and October!

If you can relate of any of the above points please drop a comment.

So today I went to the thermal bath- a water body that is steam hot throughout the year but without any artificial heat supply. Amazing I must say.

Was at the zoo too, saw a lot of animals including the very famous Anaconda! Yes that big snake that can swallow a human. The high point to me was the seals and fishes. Very lively and entertaining. Posted some pictures on my Instagram page (Uchaman2). The main videos and picture would be in my video coming soon though.

Lemme drop one or two here

Nice thread brother.

I hope to be in Austria by June. And from there explore other Schengen countries.

How was your experience staying in Schengen area in terms of food, security and cost of living?

To me Schengen countries vary a lot so you can’t talk about the in terms of food security and cost of living as a whole.

For example countries like Norway, Switzerland and maybe France are very expensive to live in but countries like Poland, Hungary, etc are very cheap to live in. Same way food security vary but on a general note Schengen countries are good
