Beaf:I am too pissed off to laff. FL Gators:Merry xmas , babes. How are u doing? |
Just got back from some xmas dinner just to see this, My evening is ruined ![]() As if we dont have enuff problems ![]() |
becomrich;: ![]() I can see why u were u nominated for an award on NL ![]() U see the funny side to everything ![]() |
becomrich;:Are U for real? ![]() |
maxell:Maxell for VP U go be my Jonathan ![]() becomrich;:I like ur Maps . They speak for volumes ![]() However, I believe that this thread is dealing with how "poor" the people of a region is rather than how may roads they have. Going by infrastructure (Power, roads water) the North easily takes it for me in Nigeria as the most developed. However, the statistics of impoverishment tells a different story. There are more poor people living in the North than any other geographical region in Nigeria. |
becomrich;:I think in the Nigerian context, there is a big difference between development and impoverishment. The North relatively has more infrastructure but that didnt stop people from being impoverished. |
Beaf:I hope I am not sounding pro-government here ![]() I dont have a problem with going after those Aso rock guys. I am just advocating for a two pronged approach. While the fisherman in the creek is growing thinner and thinner , the state politicians are growing fatter and fatter with monies meant for the development of the state. I have to admit that I am not conversant with all those laws u outlined but I am curious on how many of them are still in effect given that some of them are decrees. ![]() |
LOL!!!! Bon voyage Bithc,I'm like Chef Boyadee ![]() Eminem knows how to bring out the laughs in me. |
Beaf:And I wonder where u got that from? I definitely did not state or imply that in my posts. Some states in Nigeria receive monthly allocations that are larger than the budget of some african nations. If citizens of each state starts harassing their respective govts, maybe they will start putting the money into good use. Going against the FG is good but to me thats a long term goal; a short term objective that is bound to have immediate impact is going head to head with the state govt. Beaf:MEND did not have to wait for federalism before taking on the FG. Why are u suggesting they should wait until Nigeria starts practicing true federalism before they can start questioning the likes of Ibori? ![]() Besides, due to years of Military rule Nigeria has tended towards a Unitary form of govt making the center very strong and the states weak. U are bound to incur a lot of collateral damage if U are going against the Federal Govt as it is now. Ur best shot as a militant group is to tackle the state govt. |
@ edoyad Attack does not necessarily mean violence. Besides, I used the word "ASK" Beaf:I agree with that. However, is MEND trying to solve Nigeria's problems at the Federal level? I dont think so. MEND's interest is mostly provincial and that province is the South-south. Beaf:Thats the classic Nigerian response. Compared to Aso rock, the state govt house in the respective states is just a stone throw away. This is all about the impoverishment of an area; yet your advice is to leave the immediate primary cause and start looking for secondary targets. Beaf:Suddenly MEND is now common folk? In any case this line of argument is backwards , so I am at loss on how to respond. U think that MEND is too common to take on an individual, however U dont have a problem with them taking on the FG? ![]() Beaf:What happened to Ibori in the court is the same thing that happens to most politicians that connived with the Federal Govt to dupe citizens of basic amenities. They go scot free. Ibori's case is not one of a kind. Telling me that citizens of each state should ignore person(s) like that and go after a nameless Federal Govt amuses me. Charity, they say, begins at home. |
Sagamite:True. I hope he (Amodu) is pro-active in getting players from grassroots and not just waiting for the ones that play youth tournaments. Kanu Nwankwo might not be the most decorated African player if Westerhoff had not recommended him to James Peters for Mauritius'93. |
In line with the 13% derivation agreement and in addition to the gross statutory allocation Bayelsa received 1,250,877,078 (Nov 2009) Delta 2,637,633,662 Akwa IBOM 3,029,655,203 Rivers 2,744,340,457 In addition to their other activities , MEND should also be asking serious questions on how these were spend by the respective state govt every month. |
~Sauron~:That brings us back to the argument of foreign coach versus local coaches. I have been always of the opinion that I dont care what the nationality of the SE coach is as long as he is world class. However, Amodu was chosen cos those in favor of local coaches won. Its too late now to change it given that we have two tournaments to prepare for in a space of 9 months. ~Sauron~:Yeah, except for the small fact that the replacement might be no better. Check out the pedigree of the NFF in hiring and firing of coaches. Pathetic. If firing Amodu means bringing in someone in the caliber of Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, then we do better stick with Amodu. |
edoyad:I understand that very well. But dont u think that U are being unfair by just stating that the ANC bombed govt installations without adequately putting that into context. The ANC was not all about militancy, it was something more than that. The militancy was just a component of it, which not even everybody in the ANC supported. JT Gumede, a one time president of the ANC, was actually voted out of office for advocating active opposition. Add to the fact that PEOPLE actually came together (representatives of workers union, tribal chiefs, heads of religious bodies etc) and formed the union, conducted an election into various offices and set up a structure makes me think that MEND and ANC are , at least not yet, on the same page. Why u keep asking me to read the synopsis of a movie to understand the workings of the ANC beats me There are better sources than that. |
Nice write up, Sagamite. Giving Amodu the boot now or bringing in someone to lord it over him in any capacity will be a recipe for disaster. He delivered both tickets (ANC and WC). As a result, he should be in charge when the tournament starts. I agreed with ur write-up until u suggested sacking him if we flop at the ANC. I dont think he should get the boot even then. Reason: The NFF is incompetent, simple. After the ANC , the world cup will be barely 5 months away. If you think that the NFF, within that time frame, attract a top quality coach for the SE , then U dont know our NFF. 5 months is already a short time for any coach to come in and transform a team. Add that to the fact that the NFF will eat up half of that time playing around and u will quickly realize that rocking the boat is not the way to go. However, what really worries me about Amodu when it comes to the long term, is the fact that he has been accused of not taking a peek at the NPL. I dont know how true this is but the fact that there are no young talents coming thru the ranks of the SE lends credence to that allegation. Even when the Nigerian league was a joke in terms of standard , it still gave us players like Finidi, Amokachi et al. I think thats a big failure on his part as he just depends on our so called established stars. |
SapeleGuy:The Niger Delta struggle I can understand. What I seem not to understand is the instrument of the struggle----MEND. Can U honestly draw parallels between the actions/activities of ANC during the apartheid era and the activities of MEND now? I am having trouble picking up the similarities , especially in their modus operandi. |
Kobojunkie:I know U are not this dumb so I will just take it that U are being mischievous I was responding to this : Kobojunkie: |
CILondon:From whom? By whom? To whom? Peeps just come on NL and spew unfounded nonsense. This is just the same as a thread that purported all Nigerian girls have very offensive BO How people come up with such crass generalizations beats me silly. Its a shame when people use their very narrow and sparce experiences to pass judgement on the rest of humanity. |
Kobojunkie:Classic!!!!! Far easier to be a critic than an activist Far easier to destroy than to build.Kobojunkie:No need beating a dead horse. If I ask U to explain how her track records disqualifies her, U handwave and move on. So I will let that pass.

I am even more surprised than U are ![]() |
Kobojunkie:I easily get bored with round and round semantics that leads no-where. Kobo, for someone who posts a lot, u say very little. Last time I asked U, u insisted that u owe me nothing tangible ![]() Being in opposition to ideas, issues or persons is very trivial. The difficult part is coming up with an explanation for opposing and most importantly, being able to proffer veritable alternatives. I have no problem with u saying that Okonjo is not suitable. For all U know U might be right. All I want is a little bit of explanation on why u think so. All I seem to gather from numerous postings is that Kobo thinks that Okonjo is too popular ![]() Secondly, U have repeatedly posted that there are credible fellas that have been shoved in the background. I am not disagreeing but U will make your argument more convincing if u gave me an example of a Nigerian that has a PROVEN track record, not popular by your definition, new on the scene and to top it all have the knowledge of the Nigerian polity. |
Kobojunkie:LOL!!!!! Kobojunkie:Of course!!! And in case u missed that, Okonjo is not president yet. Someone posted her candidacy for consideration. U can also start by enlightening us on those folks that U think we should consider. |
OAM4J:U just stated the obvious. Thats common knowledge. However, what is not common knowledge is the records that disqualifies her candidacy. On a very neutral note, I am very curious to know those records. I wish Kobo will help in this area instead of resorting to type in caps as if that will scare anybody away. |
Kobojunkie:Kobo, U said the woman's records shows that she is not fit for the job. Didnt u anticipate that someone will ask U "what records are u talking about"? ![]() I know that we NL folks have a penchant for making unfounded claims but I am sure we have not gotten to this level. U say something and when someone asks u to expantiate, ur response is to start typing in caps? ![]() |
Kobojunkie:Like? I am not campaigning for Okonjo's candidacy. However, U have not said anything tangible. Her track records show that she is not the one U want for Nigeria. How? U cant just make vague statements like that. Proudly9ja revealed her concerns about the way she quit her appointment as the Minister of Foreign affairs. To me thats a genuine concern, although I am sure there was a lot to that than meets the eye given the strained relationship between her and Obj at that time. |
OAM4J:Thats because it is. Kobojunkie:Stop posting in very vague terms. Going by records alone, what does that tell you about Okonjo-Iweala? Are U saying that she is not PROVEN or NOT? Give us an example of someone whom U think that is PROVEN, NOT POPULAR , NOT an "OLD MEAT" and yet considered a savant in the workings of the Nigerian polity. |
Kobojunkie:It is difficult to differentiate popular and proven Sometimes, U cant. Most personalities that are proven in their fields are popular. They became popular because they have been proven and not the other way round. Even if U have a candidate who U think is capable but not popular, then I suggest U better start working on making the person more popular. Thats how elections are won or lost. Kobojunkie:I would prefer someone who knows how the system works than pick a greenhorn. |
@ Toyin Guess I will just keep working harder then. @ OB U smell old stuff, I'd say. Romance with Toyin no be today e start ![]() Chiogo? From Amaka to Mamagee ( ) and now Chiogo Anyways, good nite y'all. |
FL Gators:So why is OgidiBoy frowning when I told him that Toyin is off the shelf ![]() Abeg nwa Ogidi, mind urself. Go and chill with Mamagee (that username still cracks me up) Toyin is already taken. I am still working on getting her to reduce her humongous bride price and demands |
FL Gators:He is single and searching. When he was with Amaka he was as faithful as a mule ![]() |
Approved1:Tell them!!! I said earlier that even a plus sized woman will not willingly date a plus sized man. That offended some NL Users. ![]() Ask any woman , no matter the size or shape, their dream man and see if u dont end up with a pic of a young Denzel Washington. Approved1: I am laffing so hard at this ![]() |
FL Gators:LOL!!!!! Mamagee? That sounds like a name straight outta a Nollywood comedy ![]() Well, he just said that someone has stolen Amaka from him ![]() |
FL Gators:U know I got ur back. Just let me know when OgidiBoy misbehaves ![]() |

U go be my Jonathan
