SportsRe: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by Uche2nna(m): 2:51pm On Nov 25, 2009
The fact that Kanu is going to the world cup on a purely sentimental reason bugs the hell out of me. When would we start making people earn their places by purely merit?

Why would Beckham be striving tooth and nail to stay fit in order to be called up by Capello while Kanu's place in the SE squad is a given? undecided Beckham is heading to AC Milan to increase his chances and he is still not even sure of a place in Capello's squad. Michael Owen of Manchester United is not even going to the WC despite calls by sentimentalist and despite a dire need for a goal poacher in the England squad. Capello is making sure that anybody who gets a ticket to go to the world cup FULLY DESERVES based on PRESENT FORM!!! We have players in the SE playing for relegation threatened clubs whose places are assured in the team. Little wonder we had to struggle to qualify.

Now someone is bringing up Okocha undecided While U at it, why dont u also advocate for Sunday Oliseh, Uche Okechukwu and Dan Amokachi.

This is gonna be fun. grin

As long as they keep the beef in the studio and not take it to the streetz.

All the top rappers now seem to be on one page, kinda dulls the competition. Imagine Jigga, Wayne, Kanye and TI all on one song angry A little bit of adversity will add a new dimension to the game. Still, hope they keep it all in the studio!!!!

why will someone in his or her right senses want to spend the whole of his or her life time moderating on NairaLand?

Only cow bastards can raise up their hands in doing that, there is honour amongst descendants of cows, but noth amongst these three.
LOL, and yet u want them to be replaced? With whom? Senseless people?  shocked

The big question tho is "why would someone make it a point of duty to whine about moderators"?  undecided

Leave Henry alone abeg grin grin The guy don apologise now, what more do u want from him undecided

By the way, the only difference between what Henry and Robbie did was that Robbie got caught and Henry escaped grin So the Irish shouldn't play the innocent card here.

Many soccer buffs have told UEFA to put the less talented countries into one group so the best of the lot can at least qualify.
Nice!!!

But the flip side to that will be that all the strong teams will now find themselves in the same group. We might as well have the world cup played in the qualifying stages too.

And by the way that was not even the bone of contention.

Georgia was leading Ireland by a goal in Ireland. No-one handled the ball (and the player that was penalised was actually outside the box) and the ref decided to award a penalty to the Irish. Should Georgia request a replay then?  undecided What goes around comes around.

Georgia were never going to the world cup. Cheat here, cheat there wouldn't have changed their luck.
grin grin grin grin

  That reeks of double standard,

It is ok to get a controversial decision go against the Georgian national team but not the Irish team  undecided

Georgia were never going to the world cup,  they might as well be saved the trouble of playing the qualifiers

Roy Keane is lambasting his country o shocked shocked shocked
He talked about the game against Georgia,
Its common knowledge that there is no love lost between Roy Keane and the Irish FA but he has a point with the game against Georgia. Now Georgia would feel that they also deserve a replay. grin

Forget about the replay, it is never gonna happen. FIFA would rather want France to be in the world cup than the fiesty Irish lads. More reason why they even went to the seeding procedure in the first place.

Wow he threw on another players to go for it, Knowing that Niger conceeded 2 goals after we scored against Tunisia and another 2 against Kenya when we are chasing the game shows his tactical nounce,

When a team scores they are more vulnerable to conceed immediately but what did Coco the clown do? he sat down looking like MAGAH!!! Nigeria scored with less than 5 minutes to go against Tunisia, its not rocket science to know that Tunisia would go for it because they have nothing to loose, Amodu could have kept it tight for the remainder of the game, but what happened
Even tho I think that the SE as a national team is wayyyyyyyyyyyy bigger than Amodu, I beg to differ on your submission here.

The coach can only do so much on the sidelines , it is left for the players to stick to instructions.

Moreover, those guys are professionals, so what makes u think that they (the players) were not aware that the Tunisians will throw the kitchen sink at them to get an equaliser?  undecided  It is the players responsibility to hold thier shape and ride out the few minutes without doing anything stupid to concede at the last minute. To me it boils down to the players indisicpline and lackadasical approach.

SportsRe: Do Nigerians Expect Too Much From The Super Eagles by Uche2nna(m): 4:39pm On Nov 18, 2009

@ Original post

We quickly forget that Nigeria's most successful foreign coach (Westerhof) had 5 years to build a team even after failing to deliver the 1990 world cup ticket.
I am kind of torn into two with this issue. Even tho I agree that the major problem lies with the NFF , I think Amodu should also take some flake for his style and modus operandi.

First the NFF: Westerhof was here in an era where the miliatry was in power. That means he could actually sidetrack the NFF (NFA at that time) and go straight to Aso rock and get whatever he wants. Amodu (or any foreign coach for that matter) wont have that luxury. No choice but to deal with the highly incompetent and very corrupt bunch oif politicians we have running our FA. Moreover, giving Amodu the boot right now does not guarantee that the NFF will judiciously look for a better replacement. We all know how they operate. They will quickly go for a third rate coach somewhere as long as the skin is white. U asked for a foreign coach, U got it  grin

As for Amodu, I might be wrong but he strikes me as someone who dont have the tactical nous to lead Nigeria anywhere. The more I watch the SE play , the more I get the impression that he is not in control. Most times, he cuts a pathetic figure at the sidelines. At our last match , he seemed even more nervous than the players on the pitch. How do U expect the players to look up to someone like that for direction and instructions? The English team is doing so well today because the players know that if they give anything less than thier best, they have the gaze and tongue of Fabio Capello to deal with. This is almost the same set of players that could not even qualify for the Euro Championship under Steve McClaren. Amodu does not sound to me as someone who exerts enough influence or authority on the team.

@poster

Funny how you say "The African Smell" because after reading your post and other posts, the INDIANS and PAKISTANESE(sp?) came to mind. And to them, it's all about "the natural smell" which is acceptable in their societies undecided
Exactly my sentiment!!!

Maybe in the case of the Paki/Indians, peeps here in the US already are aware of Curry and its scent. So they wouldnt necessarily attribute it to body odor but lingering odor from food. I find that it irritating in any case.
In the African case, if U come out smelling like Ogbonno or egusi , most wont know what the hell the odor is or where it even came from. So it is natural that they attribute it to body odor.

In any case one should always have a high standard of personal hygiene (2 baths a day at least), use deodorant ALWAYS, mouthwash etc. BO as a result of lack of hygiene or diet is still BO and it is irritating!!! angry

FYI, Some white folks I have met take only one bath a day ( and thats at night). Once they take a bath at night , they wake up in the morning and zoom off to work or to school shocked
