I honestly can't shake the pity off my mind anytime i see how many ladies wallow in frustration simply because they are still single at very marriageable ages and this is why i decide to drop this thought provoking piece.

The major reason many ladies are still single at very ripe age is HIGH EXPECTATION and below is a simple illustration to explain my point.

As a lady please get this straight;Good potential husbands are everywhere but your spec may not be readily available.An average Nigerian lady wants a cute,rich,caring guy and no matter how hard they try to shrug this off,they keep using this as a yardstick to be with a man but unfortunately 2 out of 10 guys are the specs of 8 out of every 10 ladies so these 8 ladies clamor to be with these 2 men but unfortunately these 2 guys can't marry more than a wife each.

My advice to many ladies is to understand that it is perfectly normal to seek for a "financially ok" guy to marry but no matter how hot you may be, it is easier to get a man to marry you when he is struggling than when he is made.Comfort,wealth and good life is not usually instantaneous but progressive.

Don't be fooled,many expensive wedding ceremony you see are sponsored by the bride or groom's family.As a lady,try your best to get something doing and lets just assume you meet a guy that makes as little as 40k a month and you also make like 40k a month,please start a life together and continue to build your lives together. You can always do an elaborate intro and engagement party and proceed to the registry and when you have money you can do a very big wedding ceremony.

This thread is not for the few ladies who are fortunate to find a rich dude but for countless number of Nigerian ladies who are on the other side of the divide.

Our ladies should Stop indulging in ultimate search contest with many other ladies for a rich guy and Until our ladies learn to look in the right direction,be financially independent,lower their expectation and be ready to build a life with a man without the negative preemptive mindset of what will happen after he becomes rich,i guess there will forever be an increase in aver-aged unmarried ladies.

All these simple things makes relationship to stand the test of time, unfortunately most couples forget these simple things once they feel comfortable and settled in their relationship.

Try to know more about your partner: Long distance couples use phone , send a lot of text messages and emails. In your conversation try to keep that spark on, exactly like the way you start the relationship. Avoid topics that can cause argument that can lead to bad feelings about the relationship in general. Be open minded to ask question bothering your mind about your partner.


Trust each other: If your partner has not cheated on you before trust him/her. Don't make baseless accusation about your partner cheating on you. Don't believe that your partner is cheating on you due to the fact that your partner doesn't doing everything you want. This can strain relationship. In a committed relationship you should be able to talk about everything(don't be afraid to ask tough questions).

Have a solid plan about your future together: Please don't enter into long distance relationship if you are not willing to have your life changed drastically. The relationship can't be a long distance relationship forever. One person has to move or both, if you really love each other these shouldn't be a problem. Don't engage in a long distance relationship if you don't love your partner deeply.

Arrange to visit regularly: Make plan towards visiting, this will give you some thing to look forward to. Visiting is a powerful way to boost long distance relationship. This can be very expensive . Save for it, both of you can share the cost. If you afford it, it worth it to make a trip to see someone you love. Be reasonable in case you can't afford it.

Communicate often: Try to communicate on daily basis and figure out reasonable amount of time you can spend on the phone. If you are worried about the phone bill, get network provider that offer low rate or free calling within the network. Incase you are in different countries try free internet calls through services such as skype. Get a webcam and good internet service, this will allow more interaction than a phone. From a webcam, you can read your partners body language and facial expression, this make interaction very interesting.

Interact with others: Don't be too occupy or consumed in your relationship. Make sure your long distance relationship is balanced with your day to day activities at home. Connect with friends and family members.

Have a night date with your partner: Distance is not a barrier, your can still have night dates. Just set a particular day in a week to eat the same meal, watch the same movie and interact online, or chat up for a longer period of time on the phone.
