Which of your property did they destroy? See your pedestrian level of thinking Why don't we restructure Nigeria so that we can test your hypothesis: no reasonable person would want to go invest in your region

YorubarLord:
I wonder what you have to say about oyo and ogun state, even ondo is higher than Enugu . With all these dumb bragging your region is still the poorest in the region. Building mansions in village with fvcked up roads to stroke your weak egos don't generate IGR. No reasonable person would want to go invest in your region seeing how you people go about destroying people's business cos they refuse to follow you IPOB order. I can't wait for Nigeria to be divided so you can carry your businesses back to biafuro. Yoruba land needs to breath.

Oil companies did not relocate to Lagos because of insecurity. Oil companies had already relocated to Lagos before insecurity in Niger Delta. The localization of oil company in Lagos was a product of the post-Biafra centralization of the commanding heights of Nigeria's economy is Lagos - the capital which disproportionately benefited Yorubaland.

BusinessDream:
Na, it is not lies. Let's take oil company HQ for instance that left South South because of insecurity and went to Lagos. If they relocate back to South-South, hope you know what that will do to Lago IGR? Now if another Seaport, the size of Lagos port is created in South-South, hope you know what that will do to Lagos IGR?

A lot of people are in Lagos because of the number of companies there and Lagos is the major booster of South West IGR. If any of those big companies move out, IGR will drop. All Nigerian banks have their HQ in Lagos, nowhere else. All Oil Companies have their HQ in Lagos.

My point is a lot of opportunities are concentrated in Lagos and not evenly distributed...

Anti-Igbo musings fan your fancy. What has Ojukwu and land-locked attacks got to do with this post? You could have made your argument without a potshot on Ndigbo as an ethnic group.

I have a question: Is the current IGR of the states and geo=political region a reflection of the Nigeria's fraudulent federation or the potential and income generating capacity of the states and regions in a true federation/independent nations?

LegendHero:
Lol see me see wahala. This should be another round of Aki and Popo comedy.

You can’t give what you don’t have Shinedu. Your states are poor and that’s a fact!! Soon Kano IGR will be more than the whole SE states and as usual you will all come online to still chestbeat and call them leeches.

Only God know why the blue chip abi na red chip companies are not making your states IGR bigger if your Ojuku statistics kept them at 50%.

Accept that your zone is a dead zone. Stay at home on Monday is now on course and soon war ravaged Borno IGR will be bigger than the tiny landlocked IPOB infested region where the sun don’t shine.

"Igbos will automatically be bestowed with the title of states with the largest IGRs"

You absolutely right. Restructure Nigeria and see the explosion of revenue in SE. The current IGR does not reflect the true potential of the regions. Instead it reflects the fraudulent federalism in Nigeria and those benefitting from it.

OfoIgbo:
And the funny thing is that about half of the Lagos IGR is being provided by SEners, and about 70% of Rivers state IGR is being provided by SEners also.

Proper economic planning and the installation of seaports at Oseakwa in Anambra and Obuaku in Abia, will quadruple the IGR of the SE states.

Adding Igbo areas in the SS stretching from Obigbo, to Opobo and Ubani, to Ogwashiuku to the SE will further help the Igbo economy.

Igbos will automatically be bestowed with the title of states with the largest IGRs

You absolutely right that Yoruba nation would have favored Yoruba ethnic nationality. But the one billion dollar question is why he did not support the Biafran cause or take a neutral stance and allow Biafra and Northern Nigeria to settle their political fight in the war.Instead he joined his enemies to fight against the long-term interest of Yoruba.

Totally agree with you!

proeast:
The earlier Southerners break away, the better for them. The North will never recover again, I mean THEY WILL NEVER EXPERIENCE NORMAL LIFE AGAIN. There is currently hundreds of thousands of bandits currently operating in the North and millions hoping to join them.

There is an organized syndicate that is responsible for the limitless flow of AK47 rifles proliferating across that region, particularly between Libya, Mali, Niger, Chad and Northern Nigeria. Put all these together and add the massive illiteracy and poverty in that godforsaken region, then you will realize that the situation will only continue to deteriorate.

Once the North becomes saturated and awash with the hobbesian state, the competition will become unbearable for them and they will naturally start moving South for better prospects. Even Lagos won't be safe and no one would dare use our highways anymore. No one will dare go outside the cities anymore. Then gradually again, they will start infiltrating our cities. I don't need to be a CIA agent to decipher this, no because any careful observer can easily deduct it. Winter is coming o ye Southerners!

Lastly, don't think that when Buhari leaves aso rock that all these will stop, no it wouldn't because the "cancer" has metastated. The only way we can save ourselves down South is to severe our links with the North. They chose this path and must go it alone.

But majority of your kinsmen are bastard or behave like one. This is not the first time the North is playing this use and dumb game with Yoruba. Sadly, they always succeed.

Remember, the Nigeria-Biafra War; they promised Awolowo heaven and earth which made Awolowo to align with them against Biafra only to dump his ass after the war ended and rigged him out in 1979 when he contetsed for the presidency.

The same happened to Abiola who did better than Awolowo, yet they refused to allow him to rule and when he insisted, they imprisioned and killed him in detention.

When will your kinsmen learn?

PoliticsRe: Aguyi Johnson Ironsi - The Unification Decree: No. 34 Of 1966 by Uchek(m): 1:51pm On Aug 29, 2021
Ironsi thwarted democracy.

Your response to kingzizzy commentary below was a underwhelming and wishy-washy. It lacked substance and counter-punch.

We agree with you that Nigerian Military thwarted democracy - not just Ironsi thwarted democracy. But that's not the thrust of the debate. The debate is who destroyed Nigeria's nascent federalism. If you analyze Ironsi's and Gowon's administration, you will observe that the successive military administration followed the template of Gowon's administration:

1) state creation which rendered the states near impotent unlike the era of regions;
2) Revenue allocation decree which destroyed fiscal federalism
3) Nationalization of states assets and resources which eliminated the unique differences of each geo-political regions.

=======================================================================================================

You present constitution has states, there were no states during Ironsi's time

Your present constitution does not have resource control, there was full resource control under Ironsi

You present constitution does not have fiscal federalism, there was fiscal federalism under Ironsi

Ironsi was the only military ruler who kept the constitution of Nigeria as close to the independence constitution as possible.

The only thing this unification decree did was unify the civil service.

Only ignorant people say that Ironsi introduced unitary rule in Nigeria

Everybody knows it was Gowon who did that
PoliticsRe: Aguyi Johnson Ironsi - The Unification Decree: No. 34 Of 1966 by Uchek(m): 12:26pm On Aug 29, 2021
"It wasn't after the war that Igbos started moving to other regions in large numbers."

What do you mean large numbers? That is an amorphous statement. Igbos have always lived outside their region so your example of Zik' father living in Zungeru far before Zik was born does not validate the statement "It wasn't after the war that Igbos started moving to other regions in large numbers." What are you specifically saying? Are you saying, more Igbos lived outside Igboland before the war than after the war?

Deadlytruth:
It wasn't after the war that Igbos started moving to other regions in large numbers. Please recall that most prominent Igbo actors of those days like Azikiwe, Ojukwu, Okpara, etc were born and brought up in the North.... meaning that their parents moved to the North to settle before independence. A person like Azikiwe specifically was born in Zungeru in 1904 meaning that his parents moved to settle in the North far before the dawn of 1900 thus before amalgamation.

There is no need arguing with anyone that fights empirical evidence. That person is evidence antagonistic.

gidgiddy:
Just two question. How is it that Ironsi abolished the Regions if the 4 Regions he met when he came to office were still existing the day he left office?

2) How is it that Gowon met the 4 Regions as Ironsi, but when Gowon was leaving office, he left 12 states?

"You mean Azikiwe the father of one-Nigerianism, the chief saboteur of secession clause motions, and originator of the doctrine that the unity of Nigeria is perpetual and non-negotiable"

Azikiwe is not the Chief Saboteur of secession clause. Zik could not be because his position was in minority compared to Awo and Bello.
According to Daniel Patrick Moynihan (1927-2003), United States Senator from New York from 1976 to 2000, “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts. The British colonists were the Chief Saboteur of the secession clause motions because they were in charge of the process and they had the final say regarding whether to accept or reject the secession clause.

And l watched the attached video. There was nothing in his speech that affirms your statement that Zik "being the architect of one-Nigerianism philosophy …killed Nigeria beyond salvage"

Deadlytruth:
You mean Azikiwe the father of one-Nigerianism, the chief saboteur of secession clause motions, and originator of the doctrine that the unity of Nigeria is perpetual and non-negotiable; the Aguiyi Ironsi who promulgated the Unification Decree that imposed unitary system on the country thus creating an omnipotent center in the name of seeking national unity and cohesion; and the Ojukwu who supported Ironsi to promulgate the infamous Anti-secession Decree after getting Isaac Adaka Boro sentenced to death for seeking Nigeria's break up; were all Niger Deltans? What exactly do you Igbos gain from this your perpetual attempt to accuse others of your own very sins which put Nigeria in this sorry state? If your brother, Aguiyi Ironsi, didn't tamper with the Independence Constitution, do you think there would have been the need for PIB today let alone the controversy surrounding the issue of 3% going to the oil bearing communities?

PoliticsRe: Why Gowon Rejected The Aburi Accord by Uchek(m): 12:26am On Aug 27, 2021
Totally agree with you!

That my brother is the worst way to solve national and personal problems. You don't solve your problems by pretending and wishing away your past and the mistakes made therein. True the war was fought several decades back but we need to revisit it every now and then so as to undetstand the mistakes that led to the war. Nigeria is in its present situation because we have refused to learn from the mistakes of the past, it's undeniably that the events that caused the war then are rearing their ugly heads again and unfortunate that so many people are willingly urging them on.
Some say revisiting the war may reopen new wounds but I say that the wounds are still very fresh even more than 40 years and the best way to heal the wounds is to not repeat the mistakes of the past. We can only avoid the mistakes by knowing them and we can only know them by revisiting the war.

An intelligent person substantiate his claims with evidence. So shut up if you have no evidence to back it

"The Igbos already perfected plans to take over Lagos State government through a stooge called Jimi Agbaje who would later hand over everything in Lagos to the Igbos after they have rigged him in as governor"

How exactly where they planning to achieve this claim? What was the modus operandi? Who were the key players in this scheme?

flokii:
I see the problem with most Yorubas living outside Nigeria is that they weren't on ground to see the attrocities Igbos committed against Yorubas under Goodluck Jonathan..

Majority of Yorubas in top positions in government agencies lost their jobs under GEJ while the Igbos took everything together with Hausa/Fulani North. The Mulikat falsehood they are peddling around is just to save face now that they have been put to shame.

The Igbos already perfected plans to take over Lagos State government through a stooge called Jimi Agbaje who would later hand over everything in Lagos to the Igbos after they have rigged him in as governor. They would have unleashed soldiers on Yorubas including Obas and Ijoyes in Lagos who dare question them.

You people in foreign lands should comport yourselves and stop falling for online propaganda and junk publications. The North are worst hit in insecurity and I'm sure some of them are now waking up to demand for action, let's stop this "we against them rhetoric", nothing links Yorubas with Igbos and we don't share any boundary whatsoever.

If your ethnic group fought against Biafra, then you and your kinsmen are the real fools - Ndigbo.

You fought a visionless war that destroyed and mortgaged your future. The Middle-belt is crying. The Yoruba is crying. The Southern Minorities is crying. Even Gowon's kinsmen in Plateau State are weeping and gnashing their teeth
