@Uchetobi,

My wife is in oakbend now. When did you get the freebies, was it before or after birth?

Am also curious of the pedatrician charges?whether it covers initail baby vacination and what are after discharge consultations with pedatrican etc Sent you a PM

when she is going to the hospital all she needs to take is what she and the baby will wear back home, so while you are there, they will bring clothes, wipes, diapers, blanket for the baby, maternity pads, etc for the mom sowhen you are leaving the hospital, they will tell you to take what is left in you and your baby's tray.

the only thing they brought separately was the customized oakbend blanket, the engraved spoon and the diapers when i was leaving. ,

the hospital charge covers the initial vaccination given at birth, all others were done in naija. discharge consultation i used an external pediatrician, they will give you a booklet with names and address of pediatricians, you can call the one closest to you or the cheapest if thats what you want

. Thanks. I guess it is dependent on the hospital. It is well

At oakbend too, it starts counting from when you give birth. This was particularly helpful for me cuz my baby went to nicu for jaundice and we ended up staying 3 nights but it counted as 2 nights as I gave birth at 1am

As for freebies, I got two dozen pre-mix similacs, storage containers for breastmilk, a carton of newborn pampers diaper, about 5/6 blankets, two packs of maternity sanitary towels, all the onesies my baby wore at the hospital, socks and cap, an engraved metal spoon, baby wipes and some coupons which I never redeemed cuz I dint have time

Please house. I am scared of something I. What happens if baby has jaundice. I am seriously praying that my child won't have big my first child had jaundice when he was born. That's some serious extra money. Docs said there is nothing I can do to avoid it than to pray that my child does not have it. I know someone mentioned it sometime ago and how they called the social worker when she insisted on leaving withe her baby. Biko who else has any experience with this to share as per implication on costs and all

my baby had jaundice, she went to NICU for one day, it dint make any difference in my hospital bills cuz i gave birth at 1amish, so her 2 day stay started counting from that day, as opposed to when i was admitted. it only increased my pead bill from $320 (or so) to $606

either ways, just budget / hold a little extra cash, and be prayerful, there is nothing anyone can do really if complications arise

and if per adventure your child has it, follow the instructions of the doctor, the most important thing is to make it back to Naija with a healthy child. dont take any chances on your baby's life

Can't remember exactly.... Check my old posts.... I gave a detailed breakdown of the costs. I know the hospital was 2,150 and epidural was 850. Thats all I can remember

@tvegas congrats on your baby

Slight correction he is medical director for women"s health not oakbend

You are about on about the induction. I refused to have one as I wanted to know when my baby will come naturally and I dint want a failed induction leading to CS.

It's actually for their own convenience and a bit of selfishness too, cuz if you fall into labor on a day that's not his day (which was Monday then), he will have to pay the assistant who takes the delivery.

As per dr/ patient relationship, well, he wasn't bad o, or maybe I dint have much expectations or care anyways. I had an un eventful pregnancy, so i dint expect to spend more than 10 mins per ante natal sessions, even in Lagos.

But the delivery process was wonderful, it was one of the female doctors that works with him that was on call when I fell into labor. Oakbend nurses too were on point

I enjoyed the entire experience and will most likely use him / oakbend for my next baby

@ Pattyreal: Thanks so much.

Yeah I can apply from Qatar here, I have a good job and also my wife does here, as per hospital, I will prefer Richmond in Texas, or Atlanta depending on their cost, and I have someone there who she can stay with.

Please, can someone share with me their past or present experience with these Doctors; Dr. Fagbhoun and Dr. Ezekiel Abumeze, I got their contact through Oak Bend Hospital in Richmond, so please someone should share his or her experience with the these Doctors and the Hospital ranging from their fees to their services.

Thanks bros and sis in the house. Awaiting your response.

Type in fagbohun into the Nairaland search box. It will throw up a lot of stuff. You can now click on the profiles of these people that have used him like myself to see past posts

Enough info has been given and experience shared. Take the pains to search for it

Hello,m currently in the US and still waiting for baby to pop out. My passport has my maiden name on it but i have my marriage certificate with me. Will they still insist my baby's BC n Passports bear my maiden name as his surname? If yes, how do i change it later? I never knew about this from Nig,i would ve processed the change of name on my passport. Thanks

Nope. You can put your husbands name on the child's bc. Nobody will ask you anything. You dint need to process change of name on passport if you are not ready to.

However, your name as the mother will be your first name and your maiden name. It's the requirement and has nothing to do with your passport name (maiden or married).

I think it depends on the long leg you are using ooo, I got mine the following day, would have gotten it same day but I wanted to get something from someone in Abuja town so I could not wait. If you decide not to change your last name from your maiden name before you travel, your name on your baby's birth certificate will be your maiden name. If your hubby doesn't mind that sha, that was what happened to me for my first baby.

On the birth certificate (at least in Houston) the mother is required to fill her first name and her MAIDEN name.

Doesn't matter if your passport is in your maiden or married name.

You don go far sef....

I am still struggling to complete their pre-registration Form online.

It seems the form is actually built for US residents only.

1- SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER- Would have skipped it but it is a compulsory field to be filled.
2- HOME PHONE- Space allocated in the field for this does not fit for international number.
3- DATE OF BIRTH- it keeps indicating this message- . "INVALID DATE OF BIRTH". I called the contact number on the website yesterday and I was told to change my browser from Safari to another but I still get same alert on Firefox and Chrome.

The thing tiya me.

With all this issues, I don't seem to figure out anyway to proceed. I don send email to them- if nothing sensible, off to Chicago be that!!

Americans write month before date (for date of birth)

So it's 12/25/1985 for 25th of dec 1985

EfemenaXY is just making a big deal out of pregnancy. We all know marriage is a bondage but divorce or searching for a side chick is not the solution. I know the cause of this uproar is the lack of male child.
Imagine how happy Obama will be if he had a male child. But in this world we are now, it is not advisable to stress your power as a man, I suggest you give her a man's silence, give her a year and allow the situation to cool itself off.
I don't agree that a woman has authority over her body. Once she agrees to marry you, regardless of whether bride price was paid or not, she becomes your property and you have imperial authority over her.
After a year, gently tell her to remove the rope, then pray the next is a male, if it isn't, come at a consension with her, then try hitting a male for the last time. There is nothing as sweet as having a male e.g China and India aborts female children for males, but sometimes, you just have to accept your fate. sad

Obama told you this himself right? Lol.... If he wanted a male child he has access to and can afford pgd/ sex selection. Not everyone has this mentality of male child abeg

How many children did bill Clinton have? One.... What's the sex? Female

For the WONDERFUL ladies in the house who didnt see anything wrong in 'her' action, i wish you all well, but to the unmarried i beg of you to always seek mutual agreement before you take pills when you get married. Dont thread the part of our core femnists who will tell you its your body 'you can do anything you like' if its truely ur body, u can as well get urself pregnant.. In marriage the two becomes one body...
In a bid to drive my point i know i used some words out of anger which is not suppose.. That comes to tell you 'in life generally' one shouldnt make hasty decisions out of anger. Our marriage is blissful, loving, romantic and we dont have intention to seperate, not now not in the future.. We are happy forever.
To those thinking that 'Hubby' has a skeleton in the cupboard.,, am simple, caring, loving and have been faithful to my wife..
you can actually get yourself pregnant.

Hello sperm bank (tongue in cheek)

But it's good you and your wife have figured it out. Nice advice out there

Il however advice you to not be too quick to consider divorce or the worse case scenario like you did. I wonder what your wife will think if she sees what you typed in the first page.

Cheers

Can't you comment without insulting? I don't blame ppl like you though,if you are frustrated offline, then don't put your frustration on me okay?
I still insist that no hospital,i am not talking about all this jeko-jeko hospital,if a woman comes to them for family planning, they will ask her about her husband, they will ask her if she is married or a single mother!
Please if you don't have anything reasonable to say, don't quote me please!

Last I checked clown was not an abuse. You wish I was frustrated right? Unfortunately no. Single and married can get contraceptive in any hospital without her husband/ boyfriend / daddy's permission

what you gleaned from my post is up to you, my comment has nothing to do with whatever advocacy you alluded to, its a pity that your so eagerly feministic stance and poise sees my post yes?

How will one more kid hurt? When it's not the man that will be lugging around heavy weight in his abdomen for 9 months

He is not the one that will be doing night vigil or breastfeeding endlessly. Having 3 kids under 5 is not easy .

Yes, it's a decision couples should take together but if there is any disparity, the person that wants the lesser amount should win because:

It's unfair to put a woman through 9 months of belle things and 3 extra years of pursuing pikin if she is not up to it. The onus is also on her to take the precaution if this is the case

Also it's unfair to put a man through the financial strain of having one more kid of he doesnt want to. And similarly, the man should be the one to take precaution on this scenario

There is a reason why it is called family plannin,no hospital will conduct FP on a woman without the husband's consent. What the wife did is wrong. The best she could do is talk to the husby.

Lol. Your hospital must be osogbo medical centre. No be only husband consent, sworn affidavit is needed too and for the unmarried 'daddy's' signature is needed

ClOWN undecided

good day all,

kudos to u all for the work done here for people like us to enjoy, God bless and reward u all. i have read all the pages from page 1 to 222 (not an easy task, bin on it for weeks now), just got to the end now and would like to ask some questions/seek advice, sorry if it has been mentioned, i must have missed it.

1) my husband, son and i got our b1/b2 visas september this year, the purpose when asked was for vacation, although i was 4months preg but not showing, now that we have decided to have our baby in the US, and amidst all these POS horror stories, can someone comment on our chances, we have taken preventive measures like sending a mail to the US consulate and gotten a response, we have also decided to route the journey to el-paso through new york and avoid Houston and Atlanta POEs, dont think i read anyone with a situation like ours that scaled through POE easily.

2) For those that have travelled or about to travel to el-paso from Lagos, how did you buy your tickets as i am aware there are no direct flights to el-paso from Lagos, please note that we are trying to avoid Houston POE.

tanx in anticipation, abeg no take my post chop groundnut o grin

why dint you declare your intention upfront? if they do the maths for you, you are on your own. its 50-50. good luck

they will send the bill to your registered address. this normally takes time, i remember i had to chase all of them (except the pediatrician)so if you want to leave asap you should call them. the epidural people which is greater Houston anesthesiologist or something that sounds like that, have a 4weeks pay policy to still pay $850 else they will charge you 3k dollars or so, yet they dont send the bill on time. pls call them that you are a self pay patient who utilized their services at Oakbend recently. to avoid wahala. congrats on your safe delivery

for the pathologist dont forget to ask for your 40% discount
