Hi everyone im new here the thread is so long so hoping someone can help me, my fiance and I are planning on applying for a visa for him to come to the uk for us to get married we know this is possible but what we are unsure about is how the home office calculate my earnings?? I work full time earn over 20k per year but that would be from October last year as my pay increased before that I was just under 18k so my question is if i supply 6 months worth of bank statements 2 of the months will be at my old rate the other 4 will be at the rate I get now can someone tell me if we meet the financial requirements or not as the home office is not very clear on how things are worked out. Hope to hear from someone soon thanks
For spouse visa, you MUST get married in Nigeria, there's no other alternative or shortcut. Regarding the income, if you don't want to waste your time and money, wait until you have enough payslips for your current job before applying BUT this is possible only after you've married your fiance anyway.

Hi everyone, i'm a US citizen applying this week for the spousal visa from the States.

Where it asks if i have any other nationality i clicked "yes", Nigeria. Meanwhile hubby raised a fit and says not to select yes, because i wasn't born there and have no strong ties to Nigeria, however i do have a valid Nigerian passport which i got 3 years ago in Atlanta.

But shouldn't i just say yes? They don't ask for the naija passport number.

If i say NO, then i'm basically lying and i don't want to be refused because of that.

If i say yes, then i have to deal with the wrath (lol) from him.

Please help.

Thanks.
Yeah, there's really no need to lie about having a Nigerian passport/nationality and then being caught out. It doesn't even adversely affect your application These people all share consular information.

D gurus in the house am here again and I want you to help me with this message I received today about my EEA FP. Please like what and what I should be expecting from them or what are they trying to look for pls... House advise me.

Thank you for applying for a UK visa. Your visa application has been received and is under consideration. We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days (unless you have opted for the Priority Visa service), and settlement applications within 60 working days.

Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible.

We will write to you again if there is any change to this. Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have been advised that your application has been decided and that your passport is ready for collection.

Kind Regards,

Sheffield Visa Section
Nothing else to do but to just wait under they get in touch

Good day house. I've been through over150 pages of this wonderful thread and I am I'm still kind of confused. A large portion of the thread seems more of settlement visa. My dilenma is this, my fiancé and I are planning to get married next month. He is in the UK on a tier 5 work visa. He has not worked for up to a year in the UK(so he won't have bank statement for up to a year) I'm supposed to join him next year. Which is advised? A dependent visa or a visitor's visa.
Cc: justwise and other knowledgeable gurus in the house please help!!
If you're joining a spouse, it's a settlement visa you need not dependant. Applying for a visitor visa will be a waste of time and money because once you state that he's a spouse your visitor visa will be denied and you'll be advised to apply for the appropriate visa

Hello House!

I've been following this thread over the past four months and I must confess that you all are doing a fantastic job with the help!

I applied for the US visa (B1/B2) on the 4th of Nov and scheduled to be interviewed on Monday, the 5th of Dec. I'm going to the US for a fellowship program for social enterprise management...(no one needs the story)..lol.. Program starts in Jan. Its for two weeks, after which we will come back to our home organization and use the knowledge gained.

Anyways, I have the following documents with me for the interview:
- A letter from the fellowship organization.
- A letter from my organization introducing me.
- My Dad's bank statement (he is sponsoring the trip). Do I need to bring any form of ID from him?
Other documents include the confirmation page, passport photograph (couldn't upload during registration), international passport

What else should I plan to take along with me? And what advice does anyone have for me in general?

PS: This is my first time out of the country.

Thanks guys!!!
Read this thread, start anywhere you like. This query has been answered a thousand times, you will find all the information you need. Good luck

This is so true. I was at TLS VI on Wednesday and a man came with more than 800 pages of communication evidence for settlement visa. They had to scan after whyning and trying to convince the man to reduce it but he didn't bulge. They even called one white man and asked him to come convince the man, but he still didn't listen to him.
How stupid. Like the ECO will be reading 800 PAGES. They are lay even look at the bank statements. He'll probably end up pissing off the officer sef.

uru in the house @justwife I need your wisdom I applied for spouse visa but was refused on grounds that I didn't meet up the financial requirements duo they are right my spouse only earn 18400 at that time now I want to apply again she earns more than that n (1)my question is can I apply with priority we just had a child together so are desperate for me to come over Question (2) while filling my last application I made mistake on my parents DOB which I would like to correct now .
1. Some people on this forum have reapplied successfully with priority after refusal
2. I wouldn't worry too much about parents date of birth, I would just go with the original date you used to avoid inconsistency.

Hello everyone here,

Just a quick question. Does anyone know how long (how many days) it takes for the documents to return to Lagos after receiving a "decision has been made" email from UKVI and how the VAC contacts one (email or phone call)?

Thanks.
It's much better and quicker to return it to the spouse in the UK.

Foreveryours201:
No of course I know. So it's best not to bother submit the P60 to avoid confusion. I feel like they didn't even bother to look at mine.
They ignored mine as well, refused the visa for erroneously including just 4 payslips

If the sponsor is on maternity leave at the time of application the ECO is only supposed to take the 6 months salary before the sponsor started maternity leave when calculating the required earnings.
That's not the case here as the sponsor was on maternity leave last year
TravelRe: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Uchman365: 1:51pm On Nov 26, 2016
abubarakat:
Yes. Exactly my fear. However, I think it is necessary to still provide some explanation and perhaps attach it to the p60 along with maternity SMP and other relevant documents to inform them the reason she didnt earn up to the required amount in the last tax year.

I saw somewhere online how someone was refused because his/her earnings wasn't up to the require amount in the previous tax year but the sponsor claimed to have earned the required amount in that tax year. They found out this information from HMRC.

Please what do you think?
Their only requirements are 6 months payslips preceeding the application date and then a letter from your employer (VERY important) confirming how much your yearly wages. P60 is extra.
In our first application, I provided 3 P60 slips but was refused for providing only 4 payslips. My P60 didn't seem to make any difference to them.

My darling, in all sincerity. I will advice you to reapply, it's more expensive but worth it. The appeal may take over a year. Try and do the Ielts ukvi and not just the regular one and provide enough supporting documents for the financial requirement.
Your appeal won't be a straight forward one.
I'll go for appeal and just address only the lacking requirements. it's just too expensive to risk being refused again. My own paper appeal took 6 months, yeah it was long but not as long as I feared.
The new price increment is just insane to risk losing again. For the appeal, you just pay once, even if turned down again.
A coworker from India appealed twice before winning without paying anything extra.

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick one. I'm now set for biometrics next week Wednesday and our supporting documents look good after months of research on this and many other forums but i have a question regarding sponsor's p60.

My wife's p60 for April 2015 - April 2016 doesnt reflect she earned at least 18,600GBP. The reason for this was that she was on maternity leave for 6 good months (June - November 2015) and this ofcourse affected her gross earnings for the aforementioned tax year. She, however, returned to work in December 2015 and has been been earning atleast 1550GBP monthly gross.

My question is: do we need to include this p60 as part of our supporting documents or we just drop it so as not to confuse the ECO(given that she has already earned at least 1550GBP for the past 11months)?
I'll say leave the P60, it's not required. It might give them a reason to start doubting her income.

Hello guys,
Please I need your help again
Can someone send me a copy or sample of a sponsor letter for my settlement visa?.

And do I need to submit my passport photo along other documents?

Thank You.
There's no "sponsor letter" to write, just fill in all the forms. If there's anything you want to add, they provide a space for it.

Take all your documents to the centre, they will collect the ones they need from you, the rest you can send to Sheffield.

My friend was contacted to send an SAE after the decision, so I'll advise to wait until they get in touch, then if you haven't had any contact at that point, email them and they will give you instructions where to send the SAE..

Since, you included the envelope, I'm pretty sure they'll get in touch to ask you to send a another prepaid envelope

Please click on the UKVI Survey to give your feedback.

The questionnaire should take around 10 minutes to complete. It should be completed by the applicant themselves or a parent or guardian who applied on their behalf. If you are not the applicant, their parent or guardian, please send this invitation to the applicant.

What baffles me is that I've been waiting for a decision to be made on my application for a while now (since the last call to my wife (my sponsor) assuring her that there are no more questions but decision will be made soon). This call was made over a month ago. Note that I applied over 5 months ago.

Please can anyone explain what this email means or has anyone in the house ever received such email when they haven't even got a decision or when a decision hasn't been made yet on their application. Please I need an enlightenment on what to do.

Thanks in advance guys

Evening Nairaland Gurus,

I'm back again! No vex o.

Just a couple of questions on this online application.

I will be submitting the form tomorrow, what do you suggest I put as my date of planned arrival in the UK? And also where it asks "How long do you intend to stay in the UK?"

2) I mostly communicate with the missus on whatsapp/FaceTime. I've just downloaded the chat and it like 1500 pages on the smallest possible font since I've been in Naija. How do you suggest we do this? Should we just use convos from mayne the last couple of months or a few pages from each month I've been here?

Thank you!
Date of arrival doesn't really matter, just put a date 3 months ahead and just state "permanent" for how long.

For the WhatsApp Chat logs I used a program called FinePrint to print 4 pages on each side of the sheet (but I didn't have 1500 pages!) I think a few samples covering the period of relationship should be enough (maybe 2 or 3 pages each month?)
I doubt they go through it, it's just to show evidence of relationship.

Ok! Well when you apply you will have to declare that you both have a child and would need your child's passport number and d.o.b etc. I believe this information is requested on one of the appendix that must be completed in the addition to the application.
Yes, they will ask for details of any dependants in the form, whether they're included in the application or not

Hi Immigration Gurus,

Although I have posted on here before, I just need some advice/encouragement re my application which I intend to submit next week.

I arrived in the UK in 2003 when I was 15.

When I turned 16, I received a NI card in the post.

I started working when I was 16 using it and my college ID and TFL photocard.

However when I turned 19/20 I started working with bootleg ID but original National Insurance.

I'm just going through the application form and there is a section where it asks if I have ever been issued with a NI number. I'm obviously going to answer yes.
My concerns are:

1) will them seeing that I'd been working be a ground for refusal?

2) in the additional info section do I explain how I got it

3) do I need to say I'd been working illegally or just leave it since they didn't ask?

Ps: did voluntary return last year and now married to a British citizen, been together for over 6 years.

Good luck to everyone still waiting for a decision.
You have to declare everything, there's no point hiding anything because they will ask your sponsor all these during the interview and any lies will mean automatic refusal.
Yes, you can use the additional info section to explain

I can mention that in my appeal, about me not believing the documents were properly scrutinized and the ECO's issues were that of a technical nature?

Thanks for helping a lot.
One other thing, put your name as his rep in the appeal and get him to email the tribunal giving you authority to receive all correspondence. If not, they send it through the Naija postal system, it took almost three months for my wife to get the first letter!
