Those who stepped down saw the handwriting on the wall and then decided to step down so they weren't found on the wrong side like PYO (a treacherous power-drunk who forgot where he came from), Amaechi, etc.

The issue is, Tinubu is a strategist and has been nursing his presidential ambition even before the likes of Amaechi came into politics. Tinubu won that primary long before 2015 when he forged the merger between the ACN and CPC which eventually made possible the presidency of Buhari. Unfortunately, Buhari is not the one ruling. The cabal around him has castrated him and completely taken the control of the government from him. For the cabal, a Tinubu would take the control (which they are so much enjoying) away from them, and therefore, he can't be the next president. The cabal, knowing fully well they couldn't win the primaries, decided to push for a consensus candidate with Lawal as the preferred person. A Lawal in the presidency would ensure the cabal remains relevant even after Buhari. The moment the consensus proposition failed, it was over for them. The governors, lawmakers, etc saw all these and they knew what was up. Luckily, the cabal wasn't in control of the delegates and was also hated by the governors. That was what worked in favor of Tinubu. I agree some of the northern governors (El-Rufai, etc) might be hoping to be the running mate to Tinubu and that could have further fueled their support but won't they have been better positioned if a Christian from the south was elected? It was not only the ambition of the northern governors that propelled their support for Tinubu. They also knew within themselves that the only man that could face the PDP today is Tinubu. What would Amaechi have campaigned with? What would PYO have campaigned with? What political base do they have even in their regions? Amaechi got less than 100k votes for the APC in rivers state in 2019 while Wike secured over 1m votes for the PDP and I know PYO has never won his polling units in both Lagos and Ogun state. Who doesn't know this? So, why would the northern governors support a featherweight politician for presidency?

And choosing the running from NE is strategic too. Atiku needs to be fought and if possible defeated at home. Without picking a strong person from NE, winning NE will be a walk in the park for Atiku. Now, it is obvious the NE votes will be shared between the APC and PDP. APC may even win if the political gladiators in Adamawa decide to give peace a chance.

Choosing an El-Rufai would have made the muslim-muslim matter worse for the ticket. An average Christian sees El-Rufai as a fanatic. A muslim governor who decided to sidetrack the Christians and picked a muslim as his deputy. So, while El-Rufai is an equally influential governor in the north, picking him would have created more problems for the APC. His support for the disposed Emir of Kano (Sanusi) is another factor that might pitch a ticket that has El-Rufai's name on it against the sitting Emir of Kano and the Kano state government. El-Rufai is a great guy but very controversial and a candidate that wants to win would avoid all those controversies by all means. Luckily for Tinubu, NW is the home region of Buhari and as it stands, he is still very popular there and he doesnt have a choice but to support Tinubu. He may not enjoy his retirement if another party wins. So, Tinubu's victory is a victory for him too.

Anyone who had a brain should know Google tend to scatter up things on a page when you search for things. You would only know the true state of it when you click on the particular thing. For example a news website with a particular news may report a different date until you click on the website. Another could be Google posing a different picture for something you Searched on. You would only know the true state of it once you click on the website for the pictures which would state another thing after you clicked on it

Infact most of my friends in Delta State have confirmed to me that. . . .they will vote for Peter Obi at the National level, and vote their respective parties at state level.

The other option is to get a private invite.

But when you are a newbie with zero or little work history, getting private invites doesn’t come easy.

And it's usually a tough battle to win (especially in saturated categories)!

Upwork is making it even tougher now with their new send-account-into-private-mode-or-timbuktu "punishment" for not getting a job within a set number of days.

IN THIS THREAD, I AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT UPWORK PROPOSALS...

And somewhere along the line, I’ll drop a download link with which you can access a few samples of Upwork proposals that won real jobs. So that those who are currently struggling to crank out persuasive proposals can "tweak" them to write better proposals.

The first thing I will talk about on this thread is ONE common mistake most freelancers make (even the experienced guys) in writing their proposals.

THE "ME, I, MYSELF" PROPOSAL MISTAKE

If you read through a great number of Upwork proposals, you are going to see things like:

“I have 5 years experience…”

“I have been doing this for years…”

“I know how X works and if you hire ME now I will give you a solid deliverable.”

Etc. Etc. Etc.

It’s natural to speak about ourselves and our skill because we want clients to see that we are after all, capable.

But is that what clients really want to see?

No.

Consider it this way…

It’s like that guy who walks up to a pretty lady and belts out something akin to the following:

“Hey, I am good in bed… I own an ultra-modern apartment, my exes think I am the best boyfriend. Do you want to date?”

A HUGE number of ladies will consider him a jerk and gladly tell him “NO” every single time.

Some might even throw in a few choice words to trim his over bloated ego to size.

Don’t you think it’s a similar approach when you hit up on hitherto unknown clients and begin to yap about how amazing and wonderful you are?

So what should you do instead?

Writing your proposals to address clients needs will instantly increase your chances of getting a “YES.”

... compared to when you talk all about yourself.

And this is largely down to an innate human behavior.

As humans, we mostly only care about what we can benefit from any given situation.

For example, you prob’ly opened this thread because you wanted to quickly grab a lesson and move on, am I right?

You don’t care about the OP… just what YOU can grab from the thread and be on your way to the next thing that catches your attention.

Marketers call this the “WIIFM” station.

Meaning “What’s in it for me?”

Every time you try to pitch (and your proposals, just like your profile overview, are little sales pitches) someone and try to focus on the awesomeness of the product (you in this case) as opposed to quickly addressing the NEED of why they should grab your offer, you’re more likely to get a “NO.”

So how exactly do you address a client’s NEEDS with your proposal right off the gate?

For example, instead of saying: “I have been doing this kind of work for years.” (A client might go like: And so? How does that benefit me?).

Saying something like: “This project you are looking to embark on bears a striking resemblance with one I was recently hired to work on for another [Upwork] client…”

The first one is a little okay on its own (and a few clients won’t even mind)...

But you’ll agree that the second has more punch and immediately piques the client’s interest because they go like: “Okay, so he’s done this for another client before? Good, let’s see what happened then…”

You get the gist.

This is just an example.

There are a lot more ways to tap into the “WIIFM” station. But the very first rule is that MAKE SURE “I” takes backstage and beam the flashlight on “YOU.”

That does not mean you shouldn’t talk about yourself. But you have to present that in a way that is BENEFICIAL to the client's need at that moment in time.

This is why it is very important that you thoroughly read through a client’s job post, try to figure out what the client’s MOST IMPORTANT need is before cranking out that proposal.

Once you begin to do this, you can be assured of writing proposals that sound a lot better… and as a result, you increase your chances of flooring the competition and winning more jobs.

Untill recent times, I have never disliked Peter Obi and I am quite indifferent about him. I had always seen him like any other Nigerian politician.

I have now come to DETEST the OBIDIIENTS for their insults, HATE, bitterness and toxic politics.

I am ready to campaign against Peter Obi and I don't care who wins between Atiku or Tinubu as long as Peter Obi doesn't win.
