Ihejirika, the current army chief will retire b4 2015, and has shown interest in Abia politics, owing to the role he and his 'army' boys played during the 2011 election in ensuring Gej gets the 1mil votes from abia and that T.a wins also. Its rumoured that he has eyes set on the government house. Hes stil not from Abia south, but wil certainly contest if the zoning issue doesnt rear its ugly head.

ikechi emenike, a renowned economist, worked with imf for years, contested against t.a orji in 2011, he lost out then, but not b4 he made wrote his name in the minds of all abians and extablished himself as a renowned disciplinarian.
He remained at the pdp when t.a orji was jumping from one party to another. We were all looking forward to the 2015 election to vote him in. He was the messiah we were waiting for. Then all of suden, Gej beckons on t.a to join pdp, they both suceeded in pushing ikechi who had been the chief party sponsor out of pdp. They frustrated all his personal eforts to contest the pdp primaries, yes, Gej sold out abia to t.a orji! That was the worst thing that hapened in abia.
We all wept when we realised he wasnt going to contest, not even in the primaries. He went to court, but the rest is history.
Yes, ikechi emenike is a great prospect, he hasnt made up his mind if hes contesting, based on the stupid zoning arangement. But if he decides to, we might hav hope again.

4. Emeka Nkwonta, pdp, abia south.
This would have been a minor contestant, but his romance with the incumbent governor has increased significantly. He contested the pdp primaries for a ticket to the senate but lost to abaribe. Theres a rumour that the incumbent govnor doesnt want to hand over power to an ngwa man, but would seriously consider an ukwa man, which also is in abia south.

3. Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, pdp senator, abia central.
Its stil debatable if Nkechi can pass win the ticket to represent Abia south, owing to the fact that her local govt of origin is seeded to abia central, despite being an ngwa land. She is a strong senator, outspoken and focused. Shes serving a 2nd tenure in the senate, a feat no one has ever done, owing to the fact that the senate seat in abia central is zoned and efectively rotated within umuahia/ikwuano and osisioma/isialangwa. But she managed to win her 2nd tenure.
I'll love her to give abaribe a run for his money.

2. Emega Nwogu-
currently in Gej's cabinate as minister for Labour and productivity. Hes an Ngwa man of pdp, but is seriously considered as an 'Abuja politician'. It might be dificult for him to mobilize people from the grassroots, especialy against the likes of abaribe, who makes it a point of duty to visit home regularly and dash stipends to his blind followers.
I wouldnt know how effective he is as regards to governance.

'ishi karaka' is from Abia north. He contested against and won the former governor orji uzor kalu in the senatorial seat. Hes a great man, he would hav made a good governor, i wish they wil stop this zoning nonscence and let the best man win.

1. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe. Pdp senator, chairman, house comittee on media and publicity, former deputy governor to orji uzor kalu b4 things fell apart for them. He would have completed his 8th yr at the senate come 2015.
Abaribe is not a progressive. Its unfortunate that hes going to be a strong contender come 2015. He hasnt contributed anything to the development of the state, but rather chooses to share stipends to people whenever he comes home. The road leading to his house was soo bad, yet he didnt do jack! He enjoys the status quo, and things will never progres if he ever wins. . .
