Apart from Egypt and SA.

If colonial masters no intervene.

Nigeria will destroy plenty countries.

In terms of ranking we are 4th in Africa.

It is a great nation forget the dullard and bustards in charge

Algeria, Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia, and Angola can square up against Nigeria. In fact, Algeria isn't on Nigeria's level militarily.

Foreign Affairs / Re: 'he Ruined Us': 10 Years On, Tunisians Curse Man Who Sparked Arab Spring by ULOPVQ: 9:30am On Dec 20, 2020
The Arab Spring wasn't a total failure. I could remember before the Arab Spring, the media was totally controlled by the government, there was no room for criticism. A decade after Tunisians are free to ask there government, why and how certain things happen. People now air their opinions freely without a need to watch over their shoulders, the Arab Spring made North Africa, and the Arabian Gulf a much freer region.

If we also feel revolutions are failures, and come with negative aftermaths then we should also not fail to see that France became the force it is because of the Jacobian Revolution.

Mohamed Bouazizi is a hero, who governments are trying to vilify due to fear of a repeat of the Arab Spring.

Without our leaders, your Nigerian parent would have been a village illiterate peasant shunned by his or her partner.

Meaning that you wouldn't exist in your current form.

Nigeria only began to invest in mass public education in the 1960s, courtesy of those ''evil leaders''.

Prior to independence in 1960, our literacy rate was 5% after 70 years of British rule.

Today, it's at 70% after 60 years of those ''evil leaders''.

Nigeria's literacy rate isn't up to 70%.

It is YOU that seems confused by the stated metrics. If the metrics were inappropriate for the objective of the research, they would not be employed! They are used because they produce a more accurate reflection of military strength among the nations.

The very essence of research is to present an accurate picture of reality, not to distort or obfuscate it, which is what you seem to be suggesting.

Our unique, in-house formula allows for smaller, more technologically-advanced, nations to compete with larger, lesser-developed ones and special modifiers, in the form of bonuses and penalties, are applied to further refine the annual list. Color arrows indicate year-over-year trend comparison (Rise, Neutral, Fall).

Read this properly and let me know what you make of it.

So, you're not a Nigerian. Why are you even here? Shouldn't you be on your own country's forums?

Why are you scared to tell us what country you're from?

Thank you for the correction. I am Nigerian by birth, so I have every right to speak about the country and what goes on here is my business. I grew in Nigeria and went back to my country for military service, and joined the Air Force, so I am a Nigerian.

My country isn't your problem and there is no need to start speaking of my country. Let's face Nigeria's many problem.

2020 Military Strength Ranking

Global powers ranked by potential military strength.

The finalized Global Firepower ranking below utilizes over 50 individual factors to determine a given nation's PowerIndex ('PwrIndx') score with categories ranging from military might and financials to logistical capability and geography.

So, what's your problem? This is a very comprehensive set of criteria to rank the nations militarily.

The bolded is the metrics, read it carefully and understand it.

Drunkard.

You actually expect us to believe that the world's No 1 reference site on military rankings, is basing their rankings on mere personnel size?

Are you insane?

Bangladesh military has 135,00 men, while Nigeria's has 100,000.

So how come Bangladesh is far below Nigeria in rankings?

Pls don't bother responding.

Multi-milliIon dollar research from reputable international experts places Nigeria as 42nd on earth in terms of military.

WHAT A NOBODY LIKE YOU THINKS IS IRRELEVANT.

After making your unnecessary hullabaloo, go and look at the metrics used in determining the strength of that list you see.
You can choose to be a die-hard Patriot and nobody will give a damn about it. My only issue with it is argue smartly with real facts and not based on your emotions.

grin grin It is a hard fact to swallow but your country's military is not properly equipped to fight a modern day Army, battles in the present times isn't about the number of personnel.

Use your brain for once in your life.

South Africa in the 1800s had thousands of wealthy emigrants from a Europe that was just emerging from an INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION. They went there with the skills, education, and military wherewithal to create another version of a European country there.

Ethiopia was not connected to the industrial revolution. Liberia was home to the natives who received a handful of freed
American slaves barely more educated than the natives.

So where was development meant to come from in Ethiopia and Liberia, particularly when trade with other African nations was disrupted by the colonial seizure of neighbouring territories?

What ''little progress'' from your colonial ''masters'' are you referring to?

The colonialists built next to NOTHING in Nigeria, which was why your immediate forbears were illiterate village peasants.

It was independence that made it possible for YOU to be able to read and write today. Without it, you'd be an illiterate. because the British colonialists simply looted and invested virtually nothing in public education during their 70 year rule.

No they're not.

You have ended up saying nothing, the whites also settled in Zimbabwe, so why are they struggling instead of being on par with SA. Portuguese entrepreneurs lived in Bonny and Lagos before the British step foot in Nigeria, so what is the excuse?

UAE was undeveloped at the same period as Nigeria but today they are light years ahead of Nigeria, so what happened?

I understand you love Nigeria with your "heart and soul" (I still can't believe how anyone will love Nigeria and choose to defend it even when you know you're wrong) but you must accept when you are wrong.

"SOUTH AFRICA IS THE GIANT OF AFRICA". Nigeria only feeds on its lost glory.

Actually, the Nigerian military is more powerful than several European and South American militaries.

The Nigerian military is ranked 42nd on earth, well above Denmark, Ireland, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Portugal, Croatia, Bulgaria, Finland, Slovakia, New Zealand and a few others.

The Nigerian military is also ranked above Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Malaysia, UAE, Bangladesh, and many others.

See full world rankings below:

https://www.globalfirepower.com/countries-listing.asp

Lmao, see this one putting this disorganised and archaic armed forces beside countries like, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Finland, UAE, Belgium, Portugal, and Argentina. All these countries I called will beat Nigeria and every West African country combined "black and blue".

You are comparing a Norway with a proper Navy (they have destroyers in their fleet, they only thing they lack is a carrier) to a Nigeria that has only Corvette and patrol boats in its fleet.

Denmark has one of the most respected Special Forces in the world, whereas nobody knows that Nigeria's " 72 Batallion" exist.

UAE has some of the most advanced Fighter Jets in the world while Nigeria is struggling to complete a deal for just a few from the U.S.

Most of these countries have smaller military personnel that's the only reason that the "trash of Army" called the NA is ranked above them.

South Africa has a history of development that is at least 120 years older than Nigeria's.

South African colonialists regarded the nation as 'home', and so invested export proceeds in developing the country right from the 1800s.

South Africa had her first power stations built in the 1880s. Her first universities in the 1820s.

By the 1930s or 40s she was already a developed nation.

Nigeria had its first power station, Kainji Dam, in 1964 and her first university in 1962.

South Africa is in a different league in development compared to the rest of Africa, by virtue of Africa's colonial history.

Excuse upon excuse, they always find a new excuse. Ethiopia and Liberia are all older than SA in terms of civilization, why are they not as developed as SA? Nigeria unlike SA lacks the spirit of management and continuity, they have allowed the little progress from the colonial masters decline totally.

Nigerians hate to admit but I will say it "SOUTH AFRICA IS THE GIANT OF AFRICA'.

You can say the same for virtually all the world's navies.

US annual military spending is the highest on earth,  and is more than the next 6 countries combined.

But what's the point of referring to them?

The Nigerian Navy is not being built to fight the United States..

Nigeria is a US ally and its biggest trading partner in Africa.

The navy's main focus is on defending the nation against regional and continental threats.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/1288923_NN_NNS_THUNDER_FLIGHT_HELICOPTER_JPGda120f2ec368606c2fdff249b69d874d

If SA isn't black Africa then what is it? You always finds a way to gas light, when someone counters your lazy facts.

Most African countries lack proper Navies including Nigeria. Majority of countries in Africa are landlocked, so they don't need a Navy while those that need Naval force end buying "nonsense" as pictured above.

Sanctions for what?
Iran sanction is because of their allege atomic weapons development, no country will be sanction because of a journalist. Egypt committed atrocities and massacre at Tahrir square with hundreds killed in a peaceful, unarmed protest and Western powers hailed him and romance him very well. Journalist faces serious threat and gagging in Egypt, many are killed or detain in prison but nothing is happening.
Is impossible and no reasonable person will allow enemies to destroy his country for the fear of Western manipulation.

Iran sanctions were also imposed because of the strangulation of freedom of press, and their various executions. The Al Jazeera journalist Egypt is holding is Mahmud Hussein, he is from the Arab world, and also reports for an Arabian owned News Channel that has been in a long standing battle with several Arabian countries.
When countries in the Arabian Gulf imposed a blockade on Qatar, one of the prerequisites for the removal of the blockade was the shutting down of Al Jazeera. Al Jazeera torments every country in the Middle East except Qatar because they own it.

Egypt or any other Arabian nation (aside the already declining Iran) can arrest a Western Journalist for long or even execute them. Iran that you even quoted released a British journalist not long ago, even China does not harm Western Journalist they only ban them from their countries.

No country wants to have issues with the Western world get that in your head.

The way people from that side think with full mental inferiority is second to none on this earth.
See how they see CNN as small god, if I were PMB I'll detain that reporter untill she prove the unsubstantiated allegations that put this country in mayhem and see what the whole world can do. In Egypt they detained Al-Jazeera reporter for more than 5yrs, in Iran they sentence someone to death and world can't do anything but noise.

The difference is the SANCTIONS. Can Nigeria survive the sanctions that will follow? Iran is already fading away due to sanctions.
Politics / Re: Why Cant The FEDERAL Government Print Money To Pay Up Our Debt? by ULOPVQ: 9:05pm On Dec 12, 2020
Claudiusdeux:
1.Printing money involves us using scarce foreign reserves to do the job (because most of our currency is printed abroad).

2.Out of the same scarce reserves, we also pay our debts and pay for the running of the country.

3.Also, printing more money=inflation, and eventually a fall in the value of the Naira.

4.Naira can only become more strong if we are more productive.

5.Our creditors want their cash in dollars, not in Naira.

(NOT AN EXPERT....someone can do better than me!)

Your third point is the main reason, it can't work. Inflation will set in making things hard for Nigerians.

Can Nigeria ever get better?
An old woman asked a man.
The man laughed and said
"The problem of Nigeria is not the government neither is it the fault of politicians. If the government shares one million naira every day, the problem of Nigeria still won't be solved"
"But why"The curious old woman asked.
"Nigeria real problem is the Nigerian themselves. They are the most wicked set of humans to live on earth.
The problem of corruption is not from the government but from the grass root level"The man replied.
"Not every one though"The old woman defended.
"How many Nigerians can receive visitors warmly into their home?
How many Nigerians care for the needy in their society?
How many Nigerians go down on their knees daily and pray for Nigeria like those developed countries do?
How many Nigerians bless their country with their mouth instead they continue laying curses on her
How many Nigerians can pray for their leaders to have a change of heart?
Nobody can.
Nepotism, favoritism, corruption, wickedness, bribery, armed robbery, raping, domestic violence, terrorism and kidnappings is all we practice and yet points hands at the government"The man replied.

Now the question is;do you really agree with this man?

CLOWN. How many of those developed countries prayed to get to where they are? Nigeria spent over 2 billion on prayers and still nothing has changed. Nigeria has the largest churches per square/km in the world and still nothing has changed.

Stop looking foolish with these shabby write-ups.
