Nigerian Navy ARESA Boats from Spain
So respectfully,
would be impressed if the Naval Dockyard Limited didn't already build 40m crafts(NNS Karaduwa) with a 50m craft currently in production
with the help of Dorman Long engineering.

ARESA 1700? how big is this craft if one may ask?
Naval Dockyard Limited is definitely building a bigger one

why not equip NDL to have a production line for the SDB's
the steel used for the SDB makes it a bit slower than its aluminum counterpart
so why not invest in aluminum welding methods for the SDB's
with the many competent private sector engineering companies available in Nigeria
why not open the Navy's procurement to public bid
The navy gives its requirement for the craft; speed, displacement, communication equipment, armament, insurance, repair and maintenance
and have companies bid to supply 10, 20, 30 crafts. This is how a defense industry is created, through competition.

we keep exporting jobs and importing poverty with these purchases.

If we've learnt anything from Ara, Ezugwu, SDB, its that Nigeria can make things.

Mine is, the economy and security should grow and thrive in Nigeria.

I have seen enough evidence to believe we can grow both, at least the Defence Industry, the Economy and Security.

I look at the likes of Turkey, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Czech Republic, Brazil and I say to myself, I want that, I know we can make that happen in our Country Nigeria.

If LT Gen Ihejirika(Rtd), did not build that ugly Igirigi, most people would doubt our capability to build the ARA today.
Absolutely agree, If LT Gen Ihejirika(Rtd), did not build that ugly Igirigi, most people would doubt our capability to build the ARA today.
haha, remember igirigi, God, people laughed oh... look at us now. Ara, Ezugwu, making us proud. SDB killing it too. Respect... Much Respect.

but Just to correct a few notions.

Vietnam is a unitary state, and a one-party socialist republic. The Communist party has been in power since the end of the Vietnam war in 1975, and every five years elects a new leadership. The party has 4.5 million members in a country of 93 million people, who have no direct say in how their leaders are elected.

Singapore is a one party state with an illusion of democracy, that has been ruled by the same party, P.A.P since 1965

Nigeria cannot, and should not seek to be in league with these countries; it will not work, it will lead to her quick disintegration, due to Nigeria's multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-party, federal, democratic structure, where freedom of speech and freedom to associate is guaranteed in its constitution.

In Singapore or Vietnam, no one has the right to free speech, meaning no one can speak their mind.

In terms of style of government, Singapore and Vietnam belong in the same league as Chad, North Korea, and China

The league of Nations that Nigeria belong to based on its complexity, constitution and style of government include: America, Australia, Britain, Chile, Ghana, Kenya. e.t.c

End of Correction

Personal opinion:
Often times, people judge development by how many shinny buildings exist in a country, until they live in said country and find that they cannot express their views and opinions beyond what is permissible by the national despot. Nigeria must not seek to sacrifice its hard-won democratic tenets on the alter of vague and promised shinning buildings absent of true democratic values. Not just by mouth, but by practice, allow people to protest, its their constitutional right, do not kill them, shouldn't police have proper riot gear, shields to break up protests? At no time should the Army be coerced into civilian issues, the Nigerian Army should be smart enough by now to know when to stay in their barracks. NA needs to learn a lot more from NAF and NN. Soldiers can be deployed to guard and protect sensitive federal installations against damage, but other than that stay in the barracks, defend Nigeria against external threats, this is the primary job of the Nigerian Army.

Rtd. General Buhari would not be president of the federal republic of Nigeria today if he was shot and killed while protesting pre 2015.

Xbee007:
But seriously, what happened to the previous CH-3 Nigeria bought from China?

The last footage gotten from them was the airstrike on an artillery piece. Ever since then, they have not been seen again. The Iraqis are also down to one drone out of the 10 units ordered. Some other countries are even selling theirs for very cheap price. This calls for serious concern.

Should we be spending more money on Chinese made drones when all they do is fall out of the sky and remain idle due to unserviceability in our hangars.

My prayer is that we at least get value for money before the drones start acting up.
The CH-3's and its (ISR) functions have been active all through since purchase, if I'm correct most of the videos of strikes are from the UAV's
The Achilles heel for the NAF remains the cost of the precision munitions, as its hard and unconscionable to justify expending 50,000 dollars on single targets. This would be the same problem when the super-tucanos arrive and everyone who is happy about their delivery would be disappointed in the long run if the NAF is unable to expend as much precision munitions as it need to owing to the financial costs.

Public selling price for precision air to ground missiles:

American Hellfire ~ approx. 120,000 dollars
Chinese Ar1/Ar2 (Hellfire replica) ~ approx. 60,000 dollars

These selling price's are marked up 20x ~ 50x from original cost of production

Nigeria should focus on cost of production and cost of materials in a precision missile, NAF, NA, and NN should start a program to reverse engineer the Ar1 and Ar2 and also the incoming missiles from America, albeit weary bout the American missiles as they might have a phone home component if and when the missile is disassembled, hence before disassembly, the engineers and the missile must be enclosed in a faraday cage, to prevent any signals leaving the locale. The reverse engineering team should also focus on the useful paveway laser guide kit, attached to dumb bombs and rockets turning them smart and precise. This will enable the military conduct more precise executions.
at 5,000 dollars cost of production, that's still some 2million naira a precise strike, more manageable
than 60,000dollars, 22million naira a precise strike.

for comparison

In 2012, we had problems with six of our night attack helicopters,” said Abubakar.
“Their computer systems have multi-function displays to show all aircraft parameters including height, speed, temperature and oil pressure. That display system is also configured with the camera system. However, there was a conflict between the two systems, which would manifest after certain number of flying hours and lead to blind flights.
“We called the manufacturers to fix it and they gave us a bill of naira 158 million ($500,000) per helicopter, so we decided to handle it. A local team has resolved that conflict by separating the two systems and creating additional monitors for all the aircraft at a cost of about N5 million ($31,800). They also provided an alternative recorder system, which was not there. Those helicopters have been flying since then.”

How soldiers tortured me, dragged me on the ground till I could hardly breathe – Oyo-based lawyer

Adewale Salawu, a legal practitioner based in
Oyo State, tells WALE OYEWALE about the recent assault he allegedly experienced in the hands of soldiers and in the detention of the Nigerian Army in Ibadan, Oyo State

Reprehensible.... absolutely reprehensible...
Those soldiers must be fished out and publicly punished for their actions.
This is not allowed in any sane democracy.

ps. we are still waiting for public information on the prosecution of the so called captain and soldiers who murdered police personnel and freed a kingpin kidnapper in public view; to the greatest shock of all sane Nigerians, the NA and Nigeria's AGF seem to be shielding these culprits.
So when Nigerians begin to make generalizations about the distraught state of the NA, how do people defend the NA when a case as glaring as the murder of police personnel still hasn't been publicly prosecuted. Is it because the rot eats deep?
An apologist might say "oh the NA have their rules" to which a sane person says, that's bunkum; and even if it were true that the NA has its rules, soldiers and a captain accused of being kidnap-ring assailants and police-murderers should be profusely punished in public in order to restore a level of respect for the NA and prevent people from generalizing that the NA is corrupt.
Its possible that the accused soldiers and their captain are in a dungeon somewhere but again the secrecy behind this whole issue leads the public to make up their own stories about how the NA protects its own; its own in this case are accused of being kidnap-ring assailants and police-murderers
If the NA "has its rules"
public opinion has its own rules too

"One good soldier against evil
We call it valiant when a gun holding soldier shoots a gun holding terrorist
What do we call a soldier that speaks up for the unarmed he swore to protect
Lance Corporal Harrison Friday - One good soldier"

Here is a soldier that has been publicly arrested, humiliated and labelled a criminal by the NA
what's his crime? he asked his fellow soldiers to stay true to their oath and not turn their guns on innocent civilians
meanwhile soldiers accused of been kidnap-ring assailants and police-murderers are enjoying silence.
On this case, its nothing but shame, absolute shame.

all what you type here are borne out of fantasy and not reality..

All these epistles of been good bla bla bla.. they are all daylight dreams and imaginations..

Which parastatal or sector of the country do this your rants and analogy fit in?
Which sector of the country isn't corrupt to the bone marrow?
You think no one wants a better Nigeria where you can have access to all basic amenities and good life.. you think no one wants a life and country that is like a heaven with little or no vices.. these all are our dreams.. and after been in the dream and fantasy land, then it's obvious we wake up and face the harsh truth and reality facing us..

And the reality is that an average Nigerian is so damn corrupt that he even cries of corrupt people because he is not the one carrying out the corruption..

Now look into this.. am a young student, and it's a dream of a student to graduate with good grades and secure a good paying job.. but you see, that dream is already twarted and dead on arrival in this country because of the environment and kind of people in the country..
So due to that, the youths now go scampering for breads and it becomes a jungle out here.. they go engage in vices and all sorts of cybercrime..
I know you will tell me, unemployment and bla bla bla shouldn't be the cause of vices.. but hey, I tell you.. they aren't.. it's how the country is automatically wired.. and that's the truth..
This country is so fvcked that so many of us has been wired to believe it's a dog eat dog jungle out here and that's the fact.. (you might beg to differ owing to your environment and upbringing).

I have a soldier uncle whojis a sergeant.. my brother also is a soldier..

I will be lying if I tell you I don't involve them when I have a rift or trouble with my fellow civilian..

If you are in my shoes, you will do the same.. just stop painting that Hollier than thou attitude.. it breathes more of fantasy than reality..
They say give a man power and watch him display his true nature..
When you are given power, it's then you will come to know that power truly intoxicates..

No one is exempted... Each and most of us here has abused office in one way or the other.. just that our various lines of duty isn't that sensitive or that we applied the golden rule "THOU SHALT NOT BE CAUGHT"..
if you as a person thinks otherwise (which you may truly).. then go ahead and cast the first stone.
People, can you hear Evil speak? when evil speaks, it generalizes, everyone does it, no one is innocent, we all are responsible.
When good speaks, it is meticulous in pointing fingers, punish this person, sack that person, this leader is corrupt, that leader is a thief.
I hope we can all tell the difference by now. This is the test for recognizing who is an evil-doer.

Have you ever reasoned that maybe its the sins and the evil committed by your family members that continue to haunt you and will never let you prosper and succeed in life?
So, People, here in lies the perfect example of a generational curse and how rather than break the curse, this person here wants to continue doing evil and admits to doing evil for short term gratification. How does a person like this ever hope to pass on a prosperous life to a child.
Well, its obvious from the way you speak that evil thrives in your family and the general environment you are raised.
My advice to you will be to disassociate yourself from evil-doers, Make friends with people who don't have a sadistic and vile outlook on life.
Gradually disassociate yourself from your current family, they definitely are the ones holding you back, Evil and evil-doers are always looking for new recruits, eject yourself, it will be a long and hard journey to reclaim your soul, but its possible. Find a new family. You have to love yourself. A person who loves themself does not seek to inflict pain and agony on another person.

Soldiers in viral videos assaulting residents of Oyo state have been arrested
https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2020/11/soldiers-in-viral-videos-assaulting-residents-of-oyo-state-have-been-arrested.html
Following the public outcry, the soldiers have been arrested and taken to the barracks. This was disclosed on Twitter by the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Seun Fakorede.

This is what Good people do, they punish Evil behavior.
To be Good means to actively seek out injustice and battle it to a stand still.
To be Good doesn't mean to be stupid though in not recognizing if one has the capability and resources to fight a particular battle.
Some evil people have garnered so much resources that it will take an army of good people to defeat or maybe one well resourced good person.
If a human isn't battling injustice and evil in one way or the other, whether by speaking out against it or actively using their power to ensure punishment, then such a person cannot claim to be good.
If a person claims to be good, the question would be "what have you done to battle evil and injustice"
lets see your resume in this regard.

Good to hear the news from the Oyo state Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Seun Fakorede. But we still need to hear it officially though, like this;

The 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has arrested a Corporal, Omoh F, who was caught on video flogging a woman at an Oshodi branch of the United Bank of Africa in Lagos.
The Spokesman for the 9 Brigade, Major Olaniyi Osoba, confirmed this to The PUNCH on Monday.

Be good and just in your ways, punish bad behavior; Evil people will try to make us believe that this is impossible.

But honestly speaking.. if given power and same liverage, most of us here will do worst than this same military we are all castigating..even police..

No be same Nigerians dey dey do all sort of attoricites in their lines of work? Taking bribes and doing all sorts of illegals..

Go to the university and see the high level of abnormalities those lecturers commit, go to the hospitals..the same.

My friend was stabbed the other day and I escorted h to FMC Owerri, long story short, these guys requested all manner of bribes and protocols before they attend to my friend in need of emergency treatment.. if not for me(because I had my ATM with me) that my friend could have bled to death.. because he thought that as a federal medical center,it's supposed to be highly subsidized or near free( of not free).

Our pastors and imams aren't left out in the world of corruption and irregularities..

The armies are Nigerians too and they are bound to be power drunk and corrupt too..

He who is without sin should cast the first stone..

Enough of the cherry picking.. check yourself first and restructure starting from you.. yes you reading this....
Please and very very please, always speak for yourself. Its obvious that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, how can any sane human try and rationalize bad and evil behavior if that human is not bad and evil too.. Its is becoming increasingly clear that detailed psychological examination must be performed on individuals who say they wish to serve the people. How does one wish to serve on one hand and on the other hand brutalize the very same people. This doesn't make sense, but of course it doesn't make sense to the rational mind. To the irrational mind, the scenario goes; elect politicians who promise to do something, and when the people under their command falter, the citizens should look themselves in the mirror? what absolute arrant nonsense. Reign in and publicly prosecute the official mad dogs terrorizing and killing unarmed civilians, stop shifting blame.
No one is saying corruption, bad behavior and just sheer evil doesn't exist in every facet of human endeavor, the clamor from rational human beings is that punishment be meted out to those select few who act as judge, jury and executioner. Prosecute them and do it swiftly, the citizens will respect organizations that continually does this. There are separations of power for a reason and if a security personnel even for one second believes that a citizen is guilty of a crime, that citizen remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, this is how a rational democracy works.
Sorry about your friend who got stabbed, sincerely. But judging by your logic, henceforth you should be looking for who to stab too abi? because of "looking yourself in the mirror?"
Never ever as a rational human-being believe that evil is supposed to go unpunished. Evil will only continue if Good people make and believe daft statements like "look yourself in the mirror". Good people fight evil, good people don't sit on the fence, if a person thinks they're good but don't speak out even when evil is been committed in their presence, then that person is Evil too by association, it really is that simple. And if a good person finds that they cannot make headway in changing an evil situation from the inside, quit for God sake, save your soul, fight that Evil from outside the organization.
Be courageous, grow a spine, stand up and speak out against injustice whenever it happens. This is the only panacea to defeating evil in all its ramifications whether at a university or by police, soldiers, and security officials who swore to serve and protect.
Again reminding any currently insane individuals, if God doesn't deal with you in this life time, God will visit vengeance on your children. This is on the conscience of every evil individual at this time, look at your children, knowing you are literally damming their existence.
Peace be unto you.

Only a sexually and emotionally frustrated human being behaves in such a barbaric manner.
This looks like a case of infantile behavior, you know that kind in primary school when you like a girl and instead of been confident enough to tell her, the fear of rejection makes you start abusing her, hoping that inflicting pain shows how powerful one is and hence the girl will come running to you with open arms.... It never works.... Its a psychological deformity. People usually grow out of it when they become more confident and secure in their self and body. They become confident enough to tell a girl what they want and how they want it, damn the consequences...
Its obvious, this is a case of a psychologically stunted man. An infant in a mans body.
So this soldier cant toast babe? see fine babe, toast now, why release all frustration on a civilian dressed in what ever way they choose to dress.
And forcibly cutting another man's hair, why? because you cannot grow out yours? this soldier is psychologically dented and demented.
These are some of the people who continue to show The NA in absolute bad light.
Respect is lost for any organization that continue to allow these random attacks on the people they're meant to serve and protect.

Let justice always be swift, made public and proportionate to their misdeeds. This is what it means to be a public servant in the Federal Republic of Nigeria or any democratic country for that matter. Military personnel are not above the laws and constitution, they form the armed section of the public service. Public service is a public trust, requiring you to place loyalty to the Constitution, the laws, and ethical principles above private gain or immediate satisfaction. We must not continue to see Public servants mistreat the same people they're supposed to serve and protect, there are rules and regulations to follow; always make sure to follow them as any action taken outside the constitution of Nigeria exposes a personnel to severe repercussions. Remain disciplined and always respect that uniform because its a privilege that can be taken away at anytime if found wanting and of bad character.

This is what Nigerians always demand from public servants, swift and immediate justice meted out to erring personnel. This is only basic and never too much too ask. Nigerians must never be content with mediocrity. Punish erring officers, always make it public, Nigerians are watching keenly now more than ever before.

Most times, this is all it takes to build. Determination and believe in ones self. It really is not that hard.
Kudos NN. Hats off to ya.
And even though we don't say it enough, Nigeria is proud of you. Keep building. The next one should be bigger.
If we have to import quality steel sheets to enable mass fabrication then so be it, at least until Ajaokuta comes back online, working with the Russians.
Jobs, jobs, jobs, quality, fulfilling jobs to construct, fabricate a finished product makes a proud nation. cool

A shooting occurred no one is disputing that or is applauding it/ or supporting it . We all condemn it but this massacre of 79 , 15, 7 to resurrection we should wait till the dust settles.
That which is evil must be called out as such "EVIL". If not for ones country at least for ones soul. Because again reminding people, the law of karma is real, but what most people often leave out is that karma is passed on from parent to child, it is unpalatable for people to hear this; because they think their child is innocent and hence will not suffer for the ills of the parent. If karma isn't repaid in ones life time, sorry, that persons children will bear the brunt of it. The military should have never been there. By now they should be smart enough to say NO to the politicians who use them to settle scores with Nigerians that elected them into office. The military must be brave enough to tell these politicians, listen to your people, do what they ask you to do, that, on which basis the politician was elected.
So long as it doesn't threaten the territorial integrity of Nigeria, the military should be disinterested.

The Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-olu has admitted that Nigerian Military officers ordered the shooting of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate last week Tuesday.

Sanwoolu, during a live interview on CNN, disclosed that according to CCTV footage gotten from the scene of the shooting, officers of the Nigerian Army were responsible for the attack.

POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that the Lekki shooting generated a massive outcry from human rights organisations and the international community, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.

When asked about who ordered the shooting and which security branch carried out the order, Sanwoolu said;

"From the footage that we can see, there are cameras at that facility. It seems to me that there were men in military uniform, should be Nigerian Army."

The Interviewer pressed further,"So you're saying that it was Military officers who ordered peaceful protesters to be shot in lekki?"

Sanwoolu replied; "Yes, they were there. That's what it shows".

When asked if anyone will be held accountable, Sanwoolu said; "They certainly would....I mean, we'll do everything to ensure that they are held accountable"

"I'm not the C-in-C, I'm Governor of the state."

Smart man, this is not the time to take one for the team. Point you finger directly at the culprits and try and rescue yourself from the web of lies and propaganda been spun by the evil that lurks in the country called Nigeria. The evil that thought it was a wise idea to send military personnel to a peaceful protest, to achieve what? well, their intentions were clear and this is another gross violation of fundamental human rights.
When reasonable people on here were applauding the military for remaining in their barrack throughout the length of the protests, its because it was obvious that the protests had nothing to do with the military, but for some reason the NA just seems to always want to input itself into civilian affairs, why?
