What has Jose Mourinho got to say this time around?

Manchester United finally got back to winning ways as they defeated Real Madrid by two goals to one at the International Champions Cup to wrap up their United States tour on a positive note in Miami.

As if in response to the scathing comments made by their Manager, Jose Mourinho after their last game, the ManU players  especially Alexis Sanchez, came out blazing in this encounter to show the stuff they are really made of.

 Jose Mourinho was surely looking like a frustrated figure throughout the pre-season tour, as he clearly showed unhappiness with the lack of transfer activity and the absence of his stars which culminated in a 4-1 defeat by Liverpool last week.

This time around however, he managed to field a strong starting XI, which included David de Gea, Fred, Sanchez, Mata, Herrera, Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw.

Sanchez it was who opened scoring in the game (his second in two games) before supplying an assist to Ander Herrera for the second Manchester United goal, all in the first half of the game.

All stand at attention! At Ease. The Tormentor-General is back at base.

That was the mood at the Nou Camp base of F.C. Barcelona as superstar Lionel Messi returned to base after a well deserved holidays to begin preparations for the new LaLiga season.

As will be recalled, Lionel Messi was with Argentina at the just concluded 2018 World Cup Competition in Russia but had a tournament that he and his mates would prefer to forget as quickly as possible.

The only shining point for him at the competition was the beautifully taken goal he scored against Nigeria's Super Eagles. He went on to exit the competition at the last-16 stage. He is believed to have put the disappointment behind him by spending the past four weeks relaxing with family and friends.

Messi was not alone as a number of other Barca stars were seen arriving at the club's Joan Gamper training complex on Tuesday. Leo was all smiles as he arrived for his medical and fitness tests alongside Spanish full-back Jordi Alba.

They both seemed to be in high spirits as they greeted staff before taking to the running machines to have their heart rates monitored. The duo were later joined by Alba's Spain team-mates Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets, who also exited from the World Cup in the first knockout round.

Betting against "football monsters" Messi and Suarez! What was he expecting other than lose his bet? Hahaha!

Remember how in your childhood days, you sometimes "obtained" your junior ones, as it is called in some quarters? Yeah, you found ways to just extort them now and then, right?

That is exactly what the "football monsters" Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been busy doing to a poor newly arrived Yery Mina at the club's training sessions.

That much is true according the youngster who like a curious bird dared the superstars in their own area of specialization. This is exactly what happened in Yery Mina's own words: 

“When I first joined the club, I started betting with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to generate a good atmosphere,” Mina told Bocas magazine.

“It was to see who could take the best free-kicks in training but every day I was losing 50 euros.

“And I was like, ‘What, I’m paying for these guys to go shopping!’ I had to laugh but the truth is those monsters put the ball where they want, they are great people as well as magicians.

All of that was in good faith though as the newly arrived Mina tried to look for a way to settle in to the Barca family setting after arriving  from Palmeiras in January.

The situation at F.C. Chelsea for sometime now is surely not one for the feeble minded as the team has had to stand firm in the face of continued onslaught from different top European Football Clubs who have been coming after one or the other of their very best players.

At a stage, it looked that Willian was already bound for the Nou Camp of the F.C. Barcelona. Chelsea was able to withstand that threat by standing firm on their decision not to allow that happen.

Then, of course, the other Spanish Football giants, Real Madrid came knocking on their door for Eden Hazard and eventually added Thibaut Courtois to the whole mix.

Of course, the Barcelona threat seem to have finally been overcome but that of Real Madrid has simply refused to go away for now. Particularly in the case of the goalkeeper. I am sure that somebody in the Chelsea setup must by now been wondering if this whole thing is a plot to bring the team down completely.

In this post, we want to concentrate on the Thibaut Courtois aspect of the whole saga. Chelsea have had to suspend the negotiations between it and Real Madrid concerning the availability of the mercurial goalkeeper.

Of course, no sane team will allow its number one goalkeeper to leave just before the beginning of a new season without having a capable replacement.

Good one for this young talented striker.

Good News for fans of F.C. Barcelona and Munir El Haddadi.

The young Barca striker seems to have finally played his way into the first team after having had to go on loan spells in order to gain more experience and of course, playing time.

It will be recalled that the player had to play for Valencia and Alaves on loan in the last two seasons.

For the 2016 - 2017 season, he played on loan for F.C. Valencia where he scored 7 goals in some 36 appearances. He then moved on to Alaves where he had fewer opportunities to play in the 2017 - 2018 season.

If his performance at the first match of the pre-season game for Barcelona against Tottenham Hotspurs (in which he scored the first goal of the match) is anything to go by, then the young striker seem to be ready to contest for a shirt in the first team this time around.

That also seems to tally with the thinking of the coaching crew at Barca as they feel that the 22-year-old-player, who has been on their books his entire professional career, is now ready to contribute enough for them to keep him in the squad for the upcoming season.

There are also reports suggesting that the club management is preparing a new deal for him to sign as his current one expires next summer.

This development of course gives the hard-working striker a very big opportunity to capture a long-term position in the team as both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi slowly but inevitably move towards the twilight of their incredible careers.

Good start for F.C. Barcrlona.

It was a sweet start for F.C. Barcelona as it defeated Tottenham Hotspurs in its very first match of the new season. Even though this was more or less a friendly match, it was surely a beauty of a game to watch as the Barca youngsters and new signings showed signs of good things to come.

The first half in particular was simply breath-taking with the youngsters showing everyone watching how exciting the future is going to be.

It was simply a beauty to watch as the Barcelona starlets operating a 4-3-3 formation scored two wonderful goals that came as a result of solid high-pressing and effective passing in tight spaces typical of the Catalonian Soccer Giants.

It was difficult to notice that this team was without the senior superstars as they carried on as if this was the first team on the pitch. Of course, the new signings were thrown into the pack to give the team some experience and direction.

However, it was Arthur that stole the show among them as he took control of the game for his team, calming things down, demanding the ball at all times, making quick and smart decisions, all while delivering perfect passes time and time again.

Then came the goals naturally. The first one was scored by Munir El-Haddadi with a tap-in from close range after a wonderful combination football involving a string of players. The second goal was simply a beauty to see. It was a spectacular debut goal by the hard-working and effective Arthur who scored a beauty of an over-head kick.

A good appetizer for the 2018/2019 Premier League Season.

A very mouth-watering match awaits lovers of football across the world this evening as Manchester United trade tackles with Liverpool F.C. in the International Champions Cup in a game taking place at the Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Kick-off is scheduled for 22:05pm BST on Saturday, July 28.

This match will be the third pre-season game for Liverpool F.C. They had in earlier matches played, lost out to Borussia Dortmund by three goals to one in their first game but then bounced back with a comprehensive victory over Premier League title winners Manchester City whom they defeated 3-1. 

Liverpool will be playing without a first-team goalkeeper in this match after Loris Karius picked up a knee injury. New signing Alisson is still on holiday, meaning academy stars Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher will likely be called upon to man the sticks.

In the same vein, defender Nathaniel Clyne has returned to the UK for family reasons, while Naby Keita might likely miss out after hurting his neck. Joel Matip is also missing after he had to leave the tour upon picking up an injury early on in the 3-1 defeat to Dortmund.

As for Manchester United, they defeated AC Milan on penalties after their midweek game ended in a draw in a game that clearly showed that the team is really missing their World Cup stars who are still on a holiday after the Mundial. A new addition to that list is Anthony Martial, who departed the tour to return home to witness the birth of his child.

Juventus is surely doing "solid football business" these days. Watch out for these guys.

F.C. Barcelona has agreed terms with Juventus F.C. for 16-year-old starlet Pablo Moreno to join the Italian soccer giants.

The deal is rumoured to be worth around the €700k mark an amount that is widely seen as a cheap one considering the fact that many top teams around Europe are known to be interested in acquiring the services of this future star.

The Spanish striker leaves Barca after scoring more than 200 goals for the team's various youth squads at the famous La Masia academy, since joining from Granada five years ago.

Well with Barcelona, you never can tell when it comes to transfer issues. They are well known in the past few years for selling their young stars for cheap only to turn around and try re-signing them at much higher rates.

The Bellerin case is a good example of this. Many others are there to be seen too. Only the people in their transfer department can explain such a logic to the rest of us.

Kingsley Okpoh: This Ronaldo is surely one hell of a lucky guy.

“Ronaldo will score freely at Juventus F.C.”

Yes, that statement came from no other than the Juventus Manager, Massimiliano Allegri himself. And when your employers have so much confidence in you and respect for you, your life as an employee can only be compared with living in Paradise.

This is the kind of situation that Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself in at Juve even without kicking a ball yet. The player is still on holidays for now and that means he will be having little or no time to get used to his new colleagues and football style before the new season commences.

He is actually expected to join the squad when they return to Turin and that leaves Allegri with only training sessions to integrate the newly acquired forward.

But as one can already deduce from his Manager, Ronaldo has so much respect and trust that no one is bothered about his ability to deliver for the Turin Soccer Giants.

The Manager was asked about his plans for the player and in which position he is likely to be deployed to play. The following is what he had to say in reply to the question:

“Ronaldo will play where he has always played, in the front third,” Allegri told reporters after Juve’s 2-0 friendly win over Bayern Munich.

“And he will score goals as he always has.”

August 12 seems to be the most likely date when the teeming fans of Juventus F.C. and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo will finally see their new soccer idol in action for the team as they play a traditional friendly match against the Juve Youth Team.

Some of the youngsters are surely bound to have a swell day playing against their childhood idol on that occasion.

Fire on the mountain for the European Soccer Family.

F.C. Barcelona has been seriously criticized for the “immoral and unethical” manner in which they signed Malcolm from Bordeaux at a stage when the player was already almost a Roma player based on agreements with his former club, Bordeaux.

This criticism is coming from no other person than the AS Roma president James Pallotta. and you know what? He can only forgive Barca if, wait for it, “Barcelona F.C. sends Lionel Messi to Roma as a ‘Peace Offering’. ”

Oh Dear! F.C. Barcelona may just have made themselves one serious enemy that cannot be appeased. Sending Messi to AS Roma? Of course, that is out of the question.

Such an act alone can surely provoke a Tsunami that will reach from Spain to Argentina!

It will be recalled that the Serie A side were almost completing the signing of the highly rated winger when Barca overtook them with a last-minute bid of €41million to pry the player from under their very nose. Bordeaux naturally accepted the “improved new offer” and put Malcom on a plane to Spain instead of Italy for his medical.

Juventus gets off to a flying start to the season.

Juventus F.C. got on to a very positive start to the new season with an emphatic 2 - 0 win over German Champions, F.C. Bayern Munich at the on-going International Champions Cup Competition taking place in the United States of America.

The two goals came courtesy of Andrea Favilli in a game in which  Emre Can, Joao Cancelo and Mattia Perin made their debuts for Juventus F.C.

Favilli scored the first goal in the 32nd minute after a defensive mix-up from Bayern's Sven Ulreich and Josip Stanisic.  He then went to double the scores eight minutes later much to the consternation of Bayern Munich's new Manager,  Niko Kovac who was losing a game for the first time since taking over at the club. 

Bayern had earlier defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 in their ICC opener a few days back but this time around found this Juventus team quite a handful to deal with.

Demons At Work.

A Bolton Crown Court has handed down 14 and 15 year jail sentences to two brothers who were convicted of repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl over a period of months in a case that the judge branded "particularly shocking".

The two brothers who happen to be twins, Steven and Stanley Muchemwa, aged 31, were said to have committed the heinous crime at their home  in Dunsop Drive, Bolton, where both men raped the girl, usually in their bedroom and sometimes also when other children were also sleeping in the same room.

As the trial went on, the girl’s mother told Judge Graeme Smith that her world had “come crashing down around her” when she heard what had been happening.

She went on to say that she was  “completely shocked” after her daughter revealed the ordeal to the head teacher at her school and “devastated” that she had trusted the men to take care of her.

The girl is said to have had a "massive change" in her personality since the incidents and was not sleeping well due to bad dreams.

The court was told that Steven first started touching the girl early in 2016 when she was just 10 years old, while the pair would go on to rape her in the school summer holidays after she had turned 11.

What a solid signing for F.C. Barcelona!

F.C. Barcelona have done it again. They not only dribble on the football pitch but also off it with ease. While everyone was concentrating on their supposed "failed bid" for Willian with Chelsea F.C., the "dribblers" were actually somewhere else "stealing" a player that was thought to be going elsewhere. 

Bordeaux winger Malcom was virtually set to be announced as AS Roma's new acquisition when the big blow for the Italian Club was announced - Barcelona have announced the €41million signing of Bordeaux winger Malcom!

Malcolm has already agreed a five-year contract and is scheduled to undergo his medical tests on Wednesday before joining Barca on the club’s pre-season tour. This deal includes a further €1m in add-ons on top of the intial €41m. 

Malcom – who scored 12 goals in the French Ligue 1 last season for Bordeaux – has developed into one of Europe’s hottest talents since his arrival from Corinthians in 2016.

The fans and Management of Chelsea F.C. can finally heave a sigh of relief for now as far as the link between the player and the chances of him moving away from the club has been dampened by a withdrawal from a possible deal with Spanish football giants, F.C. Barcelona.

The Catalan giants and Manchester United have been on the trail of Willian for weeks now but it seems nothing tangible will be coming out of all that.

F.C. Barcelona was the more serious of the two clubs as they actually lodged two offers that were rejected by the Chelsea Management.

On the other hand, reports had it that Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho was keen to sign Willian and was set to discuss his interest with club chairman, Ed Woodward over the Red Devils’ transfer dealings but his team had made no concrete offers to Chelsea.

Chelsea meanwhile seemed ready to listen to offers around the £60m mark for Willian and have already rejected two offers from Barcelona. This has now prompted Barca to start thinking in other directions as far as the transfer market is concerned.

This situation puts Manchester United in the driver's seat to sign Willian if Chelsea is  still willing to sell him. All of that however seem to hang on the chances of the Blues' success of acquiring the services of Russian playmaker, Aleksandr Golovin who they have set their eyes on signing.

Chelsea must do "everything" to keep these three players at all costs or else, yawa fit gas.

With the coming of the new Manager at Chelsea F.C., there are real hopes as far as retaining the services of the trio of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Willian. This is mainly as a result of the different approach of the new Manager to football as he is believed to be a fan of attacking football as against former Manager Conte's more reserved style.

As a matter of fact, the new Manager Maurizio Saari is quite confident that the trio will remain at Chelsea in spite of the interest of top notch European soccer giants in prying away these players from Chelsea. Top amongst these clubs are Real Madrid and F.C. Barcelona.

The latter is rumoured to have made a £55m plus bid for Willian which the Chelsea Management promptly rejected. Real Madrid  on the other hand are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Golden Glove winner Courtois and his Belgium team-mate Hazard.

The three players in question were however absent from Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Perth Glory in Sarri’s first game in charge of the Blues on Monday.

What a shame really for the Football Family. Such a nice footballer and person like Mesut Ozil should NEVER have been allowed to face such messy situations. But then of course, racism in itself is messy.

Just when we all thought that the issue of racism was dying slowly especially in sporting quarters, the world has been given a jolt of a reminder as a top notch footballer has just announced his retirement from international football.

His main reason? Your guess is as good as mine - Racism.

The person in question by the way, is none other than the well-known German and Arsenal Mid-fielder, Mezut Ozil.

Ozil who plays for the German National Football Team as a midfielder made the announcement on Sunday evening claiming to have been the subject of “racism and disrespect” following his high-profile and controversial meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan just before the World Cup.

That meeting with Erdogan ended with the football star posing in a photo shoot with the Turkish president and German teammate Ilkay Gundogan, a situation that keen observers had suggested had something special about it.

This was eventually confirmed as both players came under heavy criticism from fans and pundits in their homeland as a result with leading German football figures such as Oliver Bierhoff and Ottmar Hitzfeld suggesting that both players should not have been allowed to represent their country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Competition in Russia.

After earlier on moving to clarify his position over the picture in question Mesut Ozil again took to Twitter to officially announce his retirement from the international game.
