What a solid signing for F.C. Barcelona!

F.C. Barcelona have done it again. They not only dribble on the football pitch but also off it with ease. While everyone was concentrating on their supposed "failed bid" for Willian with Chelsea F.C., the "dribblers" were actually somewhere else "stealing" a player that was thought to be going elsewhere. 

Bordeaux winger Malcom was virtually set to be announced as AS Roma's new acquisition when the big blow for the Italian Club was announced - Barcelona have announced the €41million signing of Bordeaux winger Malcom!

Malcolm has already agreed a five-year contract and is scheduled to undergo his medical tests on Wednesday before joining Barca on the club’s pre-season tour. This deal includes a further €1m in add-ons on top of the intial €41m. 

Malcom – who scored 12 goals in the French Ligue 1 last season for Bordeaux – has developed into one of Europe’s hottest talents since his arrival from Corinthians in 2016.

The fans and Management of Chelsea F.C. can finally heave a sigh of relief for now as far as the link between the player and the chances of him moving away from the club has been dampened by a withdrawal from a possible deal with Spanish football giants, F.C. Barcelona.

The Catalan giants and Manchester United have been on the trail of Willian for weeks now but it seems nothing tangible will be coming out of all that.

F.C. Barcelona was the more serious of the two clubs as they actually lodged two offers that were rejected by the Chelsea Management.

On the other hand, reports had it that Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho was keen to sign Willian and was set to discuss his interest with club chairman, Ed Woodward over the Red Devils’ transfer dealings but his team had made no concrete offers to Chelsea.

Chelsea meanwhile seemed ready to listen to offers around the £60m mark for Willian and have already rejected two offers from Barcelona. This has now prompted Barca to start thinking in other directions as far as the transfer market is concerned.

This situation puts Manchester United in the driver's seat to sign Willian if Chelsea is  still willing to sell him. All of that however seem to hang on the chances of the Blues' success of acquiring the services of Russian playmaker, Aleksandr Golovin who they have set their eyes on signing.

Chelsea must do "everything" to keep these three players at all costs or else, yawa fit gas.

With the coming of the new Manager at Chelsea F.C., there are real hopes as far as retaining the services of the trio of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Willian. This is mainly as a result of the different approach of the new Manager to football as he is believed to be a fan of attacking football as against former Manager Conte's more reserved style.

As a matter of fact, the new Manager Maurizio Saari is quite confident that the trio will remain at Chelsea in spite of the interest of top notch European soccer giants in prying away these players from Chelsea. Top amongst these clubs are Real Madrid and F.C. Barcelona.

The latter is rumoured to have made a £55m plus bid for Willian which the Chelsea Management promptly rejected. Real Madrid  on the other hand are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Golden Glove winner Courtois and his Belgium team-mate Hazard.

The three players in question were however absent from Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Perth Glory in Sarri’s first game in charge of the Blues on Monday.

What a shame really for the Football Family. Such a nice footballer and person like Mesut Ozil should NEVER have been allowed to face such messy situations. But then of course, racism in itself is messy.

Just when we all thought that the issue of racism was dying slowly especially in sporting quarters, the world has been given a jolt of a reminder as a top notch footballer has just announced his retirement from international football.

His main reason? Your guess is as good as mine - Racism.

The person in question by the way, is none other than the well-known German and Arsenal Mid-fielder, Mezut Ozil.

Ozil who plays for the German National Football Team as a midfielder made the announcement on Sunday evening claiming to have been the subject of “racism and disrespect” following his high-profile and controversial meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan just before the World Cup.

That meeting with Erdogan ended with the football star posing in a photo shoot with the Turkish president and German teammate Ilkay Gundogan, a situation that keen observers had suggested had something special about it.

This was eventually confirmed as both players came under heavy criticism from fans and pundits in their homeland as a result with leading German football figures such as Oliver Bierhoff and Ottmar Hitzfeld suggesting that both players should not have been allowed to represent their country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Competition in Russia.

After earlier on moving to clarify his position over the picture in question Mesut Ozil again took to Twitter to officially announce his retirement from the international game.

After all, Switzerland recently decided that this “tricky period” just before the next elections is the best time to return the Abacha loot that they have been holding on to since time immemorial.

As a Nigerian Adage has it, “An Owl cried in the night. Later in the morning a death was reported in the same neighbourhood. Who does not know that the owl’s cry the night before ha something to do with the following Morning’s event?”

Friends, I think we should for once concentrate on the positive side of the Arewa Consultative Forum's Declaration. They are not the only ones who collected money in the past. The chances of President Buhari and his party APC winning the 2019 Presidential Elections in Nigeria is getting slimmer by the day as they were dealt a massive blow by an otherwise hitherto strong pillar for such a cause - The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum.

The Forum has took a swipe at the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it no way represents the Northern part of the country. It added that the President represents only “a cabal of evil doers”. In the statement issued at a Press Conference in Kaduna, the Forum asked Nigerians, irrespective or religion or ethnicity, to as a matter of national importance to come together to vote out the Buhari administration in 2019.

Yerima Shettima, the President of Arewa Youths Consultative Forum was speaking in response to the statement credited the Presidency, condemning the characterization of the administration by a coalition of different socio-political organisations across the country as incompetent.

It will be recalled that the Nothern Elders Forum,Afenifere, Ohanaeze and PANDEF, in a recent summit, had described the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as incompetent.

In a quick response to this, a presidential aide, Garba Shehu, described the communique as “issued by some ethnic and sectional groups assembled in Abuja recently as the shedding of crocodile tears by selfish leaders, who felt alienated after a transparent and accountable system halted their disproportionate survival on resources of the state.”

In a reaction to the statement from the Presidential Aide, Yerima Shettima described the statement ......

The age-long comparisons between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is surely not about to find any rest at all. If anything, it is growing from "dimension to dimension". Even when the two players are sleeping or on holidays. Nothing seems capable of getting them out of the limelight for now.

Take the example of Cristiano Ronaldo's latest Instagram post promoting some of his favourite Nike trainers. In it, one cannot miss the G.O.A.T. message which was included in a sublime manner as if suggesting something in the direction of Lionel Messi who is the one officially associated with the G.O.A.T. promotion.

G.O.A.T. is an acronym for "Greatest Of All Times and it will be recalled that this is a word used by Messi in a commercial that went viral before the beginning of the 2018 World Cup.

Now, the latest Ronaldo intagram post seems to be suggesting that he is saying; ”Yeah, me too”. Take a close look at the photo in the post (see it above) and you just cannot miss out the deliberate effort to ensure that the T Shirt is seen by all and sundry.

This photo was taken in China where the new Juventus star  is attending an event organized by one of his sponsors.

The issue here is "Will Gonzalo Higuain agree to come to Chelsea?"

Chelsea F.C. might just be without the services of their striker, Alvaro Morata for the new season. The Spanish striker seem to be on his way out of the club, only a year after joining it from Real Madrid.

This is not unconnected with the fact that the striker had struggled to impress at the Stamford Bridge despite making an immediate impact on joining the Blues under the former Manager Antonio Conte. He just could not maintain that impact through the rest of the season.

The new Chelsea Manager, Maurizio Sarri has not hidden his wish for the club to sign Higuain Gonzalo  as soon as possible thereby hinting at the fact that the services of Morata may not be needed anymore.

The Cameroonian Authorities have arrested four of the soldiers suspected of recently shooting dead two women and two children in the country’s far north where the army is fighting the jihadist group called Boko Haram.

It will be recalled that a video of some Cameroonian soldiers summarily executing some women and children surfaced on the internet last week thereby provoking an international outcry against the act. The video has since gone very viral on the Social Media.

The video has however now been described as "fake news" by a Government spokesman, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who said that the men in the video (who were wearing military fatigues) did not look like Cameroonian soldiers. He however also said that the government is investigating the matter.

In a case that can be described as quite unique in its own right, a 17-year-old girl has come out to defend her teacher (who is married by the way) who is being accused of having had sex with her while she was still a high school student.

In the course of the arraignment of the girl’s former teacher in Michigan, the young lady reportedly informed the judge that the man in question – Mr. Tyler David Millward, never forced himself on her.

To further buttress her position, the girl sat with the disgraced teacher’s attorney during his arraignment Monday and told the judge that an order barring contact between her and the 29-year-old teacher wasn’t necessary.

This is what she told Magistrate Joe Brutsche exactly;

“He has never been a threat and he has never hurt me. He never told me to say anything or push me to do anything against my will. I wish to have contact.”

Juventus F.C. out for the "kill" this time around.

Good News for fans of F.C. Juventus as they seem to have landed a serious double in just a couple of days. The Turin football giants seem to have decided to buy up anyone who may have stood and may still stand between them and the coveted European Champions' League Trophy.

After successfully signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid just a few days back, the Turin Giants decided to go for the player's immediate past manager and friend, Zinedine Zidane, who himself was a football star in his active soccer days.

Zidane is reported to have agreed to join Juve’s technical department and that would see him working alongside Fabio Paratici as a director.
This much was reported by the Spanish outlet Libertad Digital and confirmed by radio station El Primer Palo on Tuesday night.

A very good one for Liverpool F.C.

F.C. Liverpool has finally agreed terms with Italian club AS Roma to secure the services of their Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker for a reported record sum of £67m (the highest so far for a goalkeeper) according to very reliable reports reaching us.

As it stands right now, Roma have given permission for their goalkeeper Alisson to go into negotiations with the F.C. Liverpool about moving to  the Merseyside.

This has come as no surprise to many people especially the teeming fans of Liverpool F.C. who just cannot forget in a hurry how their present goalkeeper cost them the last Champions' League Final Match as he made two very serious blunders thereby making it easy for their opponents, Real Madrid to coast home to victory and win that much-coveted cup.

Barca surely needs one top signing before the beginning of the new season. In fold of players like Eden Hazard.

The pre-season transfer period is on and is a sort of mixed feelings' time for the F.C. Barcelona fans as the club seems not to be too active right now as now as far as solid signings are concerned.

It is no longer news that two players that have been highly influential in the team's last season games - Paulinho and Andres Iniesta are no longer with the club. Paulinho as we know, has decided to go back to China to continue his sterling football career there for whatever reasons while the much respected and long-standing Andres Iniesta has decided to move on due to age reasons.

And so, the question that pops up here is what is the club doing to re-inforce itself? We are aware of two new signings for the coming season that have been completed. Those are that of Clement Lenglet and Arthur who were engaged in order to improve the situation at the defensive section of the team.

That in itself is quite an interesting matter because Barca has a Yerry Mina whose services were acquired not so long ago but has had very little playing time in the team since his arrival.

Meanwhile, this same Mina starred gloriously for his country Colombia in the just concluded 2018 FIFA
