A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday remanded a 16-year-old housewife, for allegedly poisoning her husband to death.

The defendant, who lives at Shittar village, Danbatta Local Government Area of Kano State, is facing a count charge of culpable homicide.

She was accused of poisoning the husband, Auwalu Isa to death.

The prosecutor, Insp. Aluta Mijinyawa, told the court that one Ibrahim Yahaya of the same address reported the matter at Danbatta Police Division on April 25.

He said that the accused on April 22, at about 7p.m., cooked food for Isah, 35, and mixed it with rat poison.

“After her husband ate the food, he died instantly as a result of food poisoning,’’ he said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened section 221 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Hajiya Fatima Adamu, who ordered the remand adjourned the matter until June 7 for mention.

A female patient reportedly died as a result of heart failure when her plastic surgeon paused during a breast lift surgery in order to take selfies with her bare breasts.

The lady, a mother of two Ekaterina Kiseleva, 32, was a patient of Moscow’s most fashionable plastic surgeons Grigory Perekrestov, 31 who is well known for posing for selfies with his bare-breasted patients at his Triumph Palace clinic.

During the surgery, Ekaterina suffered a heart failure and died but her mother Evgenia said she died due to negligence as a result of which criminal investigation has been launched following complaints from the patient’s mother.

She said:

All our complaints are deleted, our calls are ignored. We are in despair. We are killed, our life is over. Our whole family is cut to the root. A beautiful, healthy, intelligent woman entrusted these monsters to remove her defect. They took away not only money from her, but also life, which she gave entirely to her children and her work.

Evgenia alleged that the anaesthetist Zeinal Nedzhafov, 24, left before her daughter woke up, “flouting regulations”.

Ekaterina had defied her family to have the five-hour breast lift surgery costing £1,830, after receiving assurances it was safe.

So the BBC aired a documentary titled “Sweet, Sweet Codeine” and as expected, the Nigerian Government “caught cold” and decided to ban drugs that have codeine in them.

So, right now, if you have an illness that can best be cured by that usual codeine drug you normally would have taken, not only will you be unable to find it but also have virtually no other alternative but to pray for the illness to get cured on its own. Kudos for being born in Nigeria. “It is well with your soul”.

I can right now imagine another creative BBC journalist doing a documentary on “Delicious, Delicious Toilet Pit”. Yes, of course. That is one of the other “drugs” that is very much available to those poor fellows who are abusing drugs in Nigeria. It is not a secret that they sniff toilet pits.

When that “up-coming” documentary finally comes to light and gets published, the Nigerian Government may have to ban “pit toilets” too. If this happens as expected, the main challenge I have here is “Where will our “smart leaders” now bury their stolen monies? The farms are no longer safe because the “Gadaffi Herdsmen” have turned them into “international ranches” and so the loot can no longer be hidden there.


And by the way, when will the good old BBC come out with a documentary like “Sweet Delicious Old Colonial Mentality of Nigerian Leaders”? Or one that will be titled “The Sour Sweet Democratic System Bequeathed To Nigeria By Their Former Colonial Masters”?

It would have been nice to see what the Nigerian Government’s reaction to any of those two will be.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has completed the evacuation of corpses to the mortuary after the Boko Haram attack which was repelled last night by the Nigerian troops.

At least five bodies of Boko Haram suicide bombers have been identified and evacuated, while four other corpses of residents have been deposited at the mortuary.

Confirming the development to newsmen, the Zonal Coordinator of NEMA North-East, Mr. Bashir Garga said the evacuation exercise was conducted in collaboration with other agencies in the state.

He said that agency has moved its ambulances to strategic positions to attend to any emergency.


He further said that NEMA rescuers are going round to the vicinity of the attacks to ensure that no corpses is left unattended to.

Meanwhile, the Borno State Police Spokesperson DSP Edet Okon said that the Boko Haram Terrorists launched the surprise attack at Jidari Polo area of Maiduguri near the Federal High court.

The statement also said “The terrorists fired sporadically and detonated improvise explosive devices (IEDs).

On Tuesday afternoon in Abuja, embattled senator, Dino Melaye, while being conveyed to his native state, Kogi to face criminal charges by the Police, did the unthinkable, as he jumped out of the moving vehicle and made for the thick bush nearby.

The Sun reports that on seeing what happened, security operatives attached to observe him in the journey, also spontaneously jumped out of the vehicle and gave the fleeing senator a hot chase.

The Nigerian community in South Africa has come out with an announcement informing the public that one Clement Nwaogu has been burnt alive by a mob in the latest xenophobia attack in that country.

Recall that a Nigerian identified as ThankGod Okoro, 30, was killed some days ago in South Africa.

The Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, Habib Miller, who is based in Pretoria, confirmed the killing of Okoro in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Monday.

He said the victim, a native of Njikoka in Anambra State and an upholsterer in South Africa, was attacked and killed by a mob in Rustenburg, North West Province.



Miller said that the victim was murdered in cold blood just because of his accent and habit, which the mobsters supposedly found offensive.

“The mob descended on him like a common criminal with all sorts of dangerous weapons in the presence of South African police officers.

“Eye-witnesses say the victim beckoned for help from the police to intervene and help him, but they turned a blind eye.

“When Nwaogu could no longer persevere, he ran for safety; the mob chased and caught him, poured petrol on him and set him ablaze,” he said.

Miller said that the mob then left Nwaogu when they thought he had died.

The spokesman said that shortly after the mob left Nwaogu that some passersby called emergency personnel, who later took the victim’s charred body to the hospital.

“The eye-witnesses feeling that the victim was still alive called for help; unfortunately, Nwaogu could not survive the ordeal and died at Job Shimankane Hospital in Rustenburg,” he said.

Achuku Joseph, a resident of Sabo Pegi area of Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, has been brutally murdered after winning N11 million on the football betting platform, “Naija Bet”.

The lifeless body of the young man was discovered at the early morning of Saturday abandoned by the roadside at the Federal University, Lafia, with several deep machete wounds.


The Nation gathered from a member of the victim’s family, who pleaded anonymity, that the late Achuku was being monitored right from the time he won the game by some of his friends who earlier threatened his life in order to have a share of the money.

“Achuku had to relocate to another place to hide, but they traced him and used diabolical charms on him which made him sick and started behaving abnormally.

The facts on ground actually actually shows that Spanish Football has dominated Europe for some years now with at least three teams always in the quarter-finals of the Champions' League and many times, two in the final. They also hold the trophy for years now. Of course, that is somewhat negative for football itself but the others just have to sit up like now Liverpool and AS Roma are doing.

No one should be surprised if some people in Spain and even elsewhere in the world have not been able to go to sleep since last. Especially F.C. Barcelona fans.

It was surely a night to forget for F.C. Barcelona and its supporters last night in Italy as A.S. Roma as against all expectations were able to overturn a 1-4 deficit from the first leg game in Nou Camp a week back.

Clinical goals from Edin Dzeko in the 6th minute, Daniele De Rossi in the 58th minute and Konstantinos Manolas in the 82nd minute ensured that most soccer pundits were proved wrong on a night that possibly only the AS Roma coach and some of his players believed in the possibility of “roaming past” the almighty F.C. Barcelona into the 2018 European Champions’ League semi-finals.

“Tormentor-General” Mohamed Salah of F.C. Liverpool has returned to training in preparation for today’s decisive Champions League quarter-final second leg match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

It will be recalled that F.C. Liverpool won the first leg tie by three unreplied goals with Mohamed Salah having scored the first before setting set up Sadio Mane for the third after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had put in the second in that first encounter at Anfield.

Lionel Messi was once again decisive in the battle between F.C. Barcelona and Espanyol F.C. in the tie for a place in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey last night as Philippe Coutinho made his debut off the bench.

His team had trailed 1-0 from the first leg match played away but there was of course very little doubt as to the progression of Barca to the next stage of the competition despite the spirited efforts put into the game by the visiting side over the two legs.

Almost 80,000 fans at Camp Nou waved goodbye to Javier Mascherano at the pre-match session.

Lionel Messi and his colleagues made a terrific start in the Catalan derby with Luis Suarez swiftly erasing the first-leg deficit with a header from a fine right-wing Aleix Vidal cross.

Espanyol wasted chances to reclaim the initiative and Messi came up with the key goal, although his shot needed a touch off Naldo to wrongfoot goalkeeper Pau Lopez, before Coutinho was introduced by Ernesto Valverde for a bright 22-minute cameo.

Messi hit the post late on, but Barca – winners of the Copa del Rey in each of the last three seasons – remain in with a chance of matching the four straight titles won by Athletic Bilbao in the 1930s.

Before now, many great footballers like Xavi, Rossi, Hazard and some others have declared him the best footballer of his generation when compared with Cristiano Ronaldo. The question then shifted to a comparison between him and other great footballers before him such as Pele, Maradona and so on.

When other people sing your praise, you can be sure that you are truly great because that is a very rare accomplishment. When colleagues sing your praise, you are surely an accomplished great person. When the President of your country joins in singing your praise, you are simply very close to heaven.

And that is what happened to the person of Lionel Messi just a few hours back as the President of his country,  Argentine president Mauricio Macri declared that he (Messi) is better than another Argentinian football star in person of Diego Armando Maradona.

The President made this statement during his diplomatic visit to Russia before the World Cup as he was asked about his thoughts on football and ultimately about the issues of who is better between the two football legends from his country.

Just before you start talking about the fact that he is likely a novice in football matters, please be informed that President Mauricio Macri is an experienced figure in football, having previously been President of Boca Juniors of Argentina. This is part of what he had to say; 

“I have decided and Lionel Messi is better than Diego Maradona,” he told Russian RT television.

“It’s much harder to be the best at this time than in the past, primarily because the game is played in a different
way and different style”.

If I were to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I would have classified the Herdsmen’s attacks on farms across the country as an affront on my person and worse still an attempt to destroy my promise to the people of the country to diversify the nation’s economy using Agriculture as a major base for that.

Of course, there can be no break-through in Agricultural Revolution if the Cows and the Herdsmen keep destroying the farm produce and worse still, kill the farmers who are partners in my Revolution in that sector.

By the way, why must the so-called Herdsmen suddenly choose farms for grazing their cattle when there are enough wild virgin land all over the country? And who gave them permission to carry sophisticated weapons to graze their cattle? That alone disqualifies them as Herdsmen. Only terrorists carry guns illegally and move around a country.

Taking all of the above points into consideration, I will start suspecting the so-called herdsmen as terrorists in disguise who are only carrying out a dangerous survey of Nigeria’s towns and cities for a possible external aggression plan. That automatically means there is a need to ban open grazing since it has become a National Threat to the security of Nigeria as a whole.

Nigeria had always had Fulani Herdsmen but they never carried sophisticated ammunition while grazing their cattle and did not have to destroy farms and kill farmers in their grazing exercises. That should automatically mean that these so-called “Herdsmen” are not Nigerians and are therefore illegal aliens as well as dangerous terrorists who must be dis-armed immediately and deported from Nigeria before they systematically take over the governance of this nation.

The title of this article might seem impossible for you to believe but it is a true life story of someone I would like to describe as a hero. Her story should serve as an inspiration to anyone out there that is going through a similar situation right now.

My doctor once told me I may not live to be 21, I was 18 then. I had acute liver inflammation and ruptured appendicitis with hypoglycemia. .i laughed. If I could survive, an accident that left me in a wheelchair and crutches for a year at about 10 years old.

If anyone is still in doubt as to what the intentions of F.C. Barcelona are for this season, then they must have gotten a clarification latest by Thursday night as the Catalonian Soccer Giants decimated a usually stubborn Celta Vigo side by a whopping five goals to nil at the Nou Camp thereby strolling into the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey competition.

The first leg had ended in a 1-1 draw in Galicia. The second leg however was something completely different as F.C. Barcelona went on full throttle right from the first minute with their mercurial talisman Lionel Messi leading the marauding pack as expected.

The Argentinian National Team captain scored two quick goals in a space of three minutes (in the 13th and 15th minutes) to put Celta Vigo in a very uncomfortable position so early in the game.

Before the opponents could re-organise themselves, Jordi Alba had added a third for the home team.

Luis Suarez was not to be left out of the party as he quickly added one of his own just three minutes after Alba’s goal thereby theoretically putting an end to any hopes of recovery for Celta Vigo as early as the 31st minute of the first half.

F.C. Barcelona crowned the day’s rain of goals in the 87th minute as Ivan Rakitic added a fifth for his team with a header to complete a 5-0 rout of their opponents on the night.

Interestingly, Barca’s new signing, Philipe Coutinho was for the first time in the Nou Camp stands watching his new team mates perform live and must have been really impressed with what he saw on the night.

If there is one fact that most people can bet on as far as the British Premier League for this season is concerned, that would be the fact that Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte will be anything but friends.

Apart from the explosive games between the teams they manage, their personal verbal attacks against each other is surely in no way less exciting. This has continued unabated for sometime now.

The latest in the series took place on Friday when Mourinho delved into Conte’s past history and got personal. A reporter started the fire as he dangled Conte’s comment that Mourinho was “senile” as bait, and the Manchester United boss of course didn’t hold back.



In reply to that comment, Jose Mourinho was quoted as saying: “What never happened to me, and what will never happen to me, is to be suspended for match-fixing,”.

He was of course talking about a four-month ban levied against Conte while the Italian was managing Juventus in 2012. It stemmed from alleged match-fixing involving Conte’s former club, Siena, while he was in charge.

Conte had originally been charged with the actual match fixing. Those charges were dismissed, but he was still punished for failing to report the fix. He was initially hit with a 10-month suspension, but had it reduced to four months on appeal.

Conte has always firmly denied the accusations, and was finally acquitted of any wrong-doing by an Italian court in 2016 – two months before he arrived at Chelsea. So when those two words flew out of Mourinho’s mouth, there was no way he could let them pass without a response.

Less than 24 hours later, Conte fired his own salvo. And this is what he had to say:

“When the target is to offend, to insult another person, you are a little man,” Conte said after a 0-0 FA Cup draw with Norwich. “We all know him very well. He’s always the same.

“This is his way. This is not a surprise for me. When you insult, offend another person, it means you’re a little man. He’s a little man.”

The long wait for the F.C. Barcelona fans to see Phillipe Coutinho join their darling team is finally over as the Catalonian giants have finally secured the services of the mercurial Brazillian mid-fielder after agreeing transfer terms with his now former team – F.C. Liverpool.

Both teams agreed on a transfer fee of about 142 million pounds ($244 million). His new buyout clause has now been set at 400 million euros.

F.C. Barcelona has meanwhile announced that Phillipe Coutinho would sign a contract for the rest of the on-going season and five more seasons. He still needs to finalise personal terms and pass a medical examination.

Liverpool F.C. had earlier on rejected three bids from Barcelona for Coutinho in August with the hope of convincing him to stay beyond this season. He was even made to captain the team in recent games all in a bid to make to decide to stay at the club but to no avail.

Phillipe Coutinho is now the second highly rated player to be captured by F.C Barcelona as the Spanish league leaders had earlier on broken their own transfer record to secure the services of France forward Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in August for a fee of 105 million euros ($160 million) that could rise to 147 million euros ($225 million).

It was surely a sweet, sweet debut for Van Dijk as he scored the winner for his new team Liverpool F.C. as they swept aside a determined Everton F.C. at the Merseyside yesterday.

The new signing who has just been bought from Southampton for a record £75m did not waste time in making his presence felt as he headed in a late goal which decided the FA Cup third round explosive tie in favour of a Liverpool side that was missing the services of their injured star and newly crowned African Footballer of the year – Mohammed Sallah as well as F.C. Barcelona target Phillipe Coutinho.

James Milner had earlier on put the Reds in front from the penalty spot after Mason Holgate’s was adjudged to have fouled Adam Lallana in the forbidden area.

The visitors however found reprieve in the second half as Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a very brilliant goal from the edge of the area thereby giving Everton every reason to dream of a replay on their home ground at Goodison Park.

That was however not to be as the new Liverpool record signing stole the show with a late winner for his new team and thereby sending them into the fourth round of the competition.
