morinto: Last year when I enter into the U. K the person that took me from the train station to house told me to pay his transport fare and sim card as noivce I paid the money. After some months I later attended church and I was complaining about cold in which a Ghanaian man took me for shopping and bought winter cloths for me. Can you imagine me my Nigerian friends was asking me if he was gay because my fellow man took me out for shopping? Also a Nigeria man organise his marriage in the UK and charge every one 20 pounds to enter his marriage reciption. That we can't come and eat free food in his marriage. When I got covid last year All my Nigeria friends did not visit me. It was only my Ghanaian friends that visited me with provision and I was beginning to get feed up with my naija people. Also at my place of work do u know my Nigeria people charge as money close to uber price and more expensive than bus just to take us to the same work there are going and if u complain there will tell u to go and catch the bus in which UK bus is very frustrating because the bus always pass a very long route. Right now the India people that usually carry us free are now asking us for money close to uber price just to give us lift saying our Nigeria brothers don't carry them free so there can't carry us free. I try explaining to them that I am both treated the same way u are treated but dem nor want to hear looking at every Nigeria as wicked people I also work in a ware house. Most Nigeria in the warehouse was complaining of a very particular man who was a supervisor and a Nigeria man. Omo this man dey snitch on us Africa people and also harassing us before the white people so that he can get manger position in which he later get and many African in my working place keep telling me my brother is wicked. So I have to warn them that the bastard Nigeria is not my brother but a selfish person that want to get people sack because he wants to climb on the top. I have alot of stories to type but am tired of typing. I keep asking if the UK has a stingy spirit that once we enter the UK we become stingy? Nigerians love to call people stingy when they can’t get free things from them. |

Despacito1: My brother you're lying, I used to think like you until I started helping two Nigeria/Senegal guys after work. morning they wait for me along one supermarket where I pass to pick them up, after work they will jump inside my car like they're washing it for me. This are not my issues, my problems are when I discovered my car felt heavy and I burnt more expensive diesel more than when I used to drive alone. I discovered I visit petrol station often than before, I don't have mind to ask anybody anything cos am good on my own. secondly, they're seeing me as a big guy, hailing me Oga boss and sweet name's. But At the end of the month they Pocket their salaries and I buy diesel of 60€ each month, pay insurance about €1400 and Car Tax of €200 yearly respectively, every two years of revisions 70€ which is to check if it's roadworthy. Do it a year no be person go tell you. I haven’t been there but thank you for your response… Most people (me inclusive) think we will do it different when it’s our turn until it’s our turn. |

Karleb: Thank you.
If it's not in English then it's crap to some people.
Lyrics isn't even everything to music.
How you sing it, the introduction, interlude, outro, syncopations, adlip, riffs, run, beat etc. Matters a lot.
Aside all these, marketing matters the most.
Burna boy is one of those with good quality music in Nigeria and he is selling like pure water. Nullifying the premise of this thread.
Asake's new album is actually very good, some other people might term it noise because it is peculiar with the street but music wise, it is a very good album. In my opinion, it's better than Chike's latest album. burna boy? Yea he’s good at singing about indian hemp , cult , and violence related music. |

AYNL: some people and forming woke with their Stoopid nostalgia, feeling elderly all the time
firstly music doesn't revolve around lyrics alone
secondly there are many genres of music with their styles
thirdly Africans, especially Nigerian will continue to suffer from low self esteem
you mentioned artistes like asa brymo and others, and it left me wondering how much do you even understand music?
you don't judge music on the genre these people do
what about Fuji, juju, folks, gospel, afrobeat?
these artistes and songs you came here to rant about do their things and your faves do theirs too
your faves are known too, tell me why are they not getting the recognition, accolades, rating, awards like the ones you're bashing here?
the reason some Africans will never be free from the shackles if low self esteem is because, if you look beyond Nigerian music, most of these foreign artistes do the same kind of music our own does
the biggest and the best amongst them do the same thing
if you really want to criticize Nigerian artists fort what they do
start from overseas, WTF, what do you even know about music, do you sing? who said music revolves around lyrics alone? bro I think you didn’t even read the whole article, because if you did you wouldn’t say I bashed those artistes… The point of my post was about Nigerians who majority of them don’t care about lyrics in music and they keep asking for lyrically sound music from artistes that doesn’t make them… There are enough artistes, it’s all left to you as an audience to know the artiste who sing your type of songs and stick with them. |

buygala: Who are you to judge our taste in Music? ..and why exactly will you use Western criteria to judge an African's taste in music?
So as full-blooded Africans, we should be listening to musicians who sing like Jim Reeves, Luther Vandross, and Rihanna? ...
When we have musicians like late Perikoma, Osadebe, KWAM 1, Arabambi, Ali Jita and our contemporary Zanku and Skelewu musicians. Am I judging here? Seems comprehension is a thing for you… I’m convinced many of you only read to dish out response here and not to understand. |

Who are to blame? Fans who listen to music or artists who make them?
Again, in my opinion. No one is to blame, You cannot fault the fans for requesting cautious music with good lyrical content and at the same time, you cannot fault artists who had already studied the targeted markets and given them what they want… The majority wins everywhere…
I think the fans who crave lyrics when listening to songs should know the artistes who make that kind of songs and stick with them… they should stop looking or requesting lyrically wise music from artists who don’t make them because they think it’s not good business for them, In Nigeria Lyrically wise music rarely get the recognition they needed so why would I keep making them if I think music is business and the lyrically songs I’m putting out as an artiste is not bringing in the expected money and it’s not even giving you the supposed recognition … what prompt me into writing this is about the latest single “Money and love” Wizkid recently put out off his Incoming album titled More love less Ego.
People keep saying the song has no lyrical content and the artiste is stuck in his past so therefore he should stop making music, I could remember that things like that were said about his Last album Made in Lagos when he dropped “Smile and No stress” as the leading single off the album, but the album later went on to be the most charted and arguably the greatest ever release out of Nigeria judging by the digital success and awards the Album rakes in… it was the first album in Nigeria and first also in Africa to be certified Gold and Platinum then double platinum in the United States and it also earned him a Soul Train award, BET award, BMI award, American Music Award nominations and two Grammy Nominations. Whereas artists that see conscious and lyrically wise music as a priority are back home waiting for Nepa to bring electricity so they can record. |

To begin with, I can not even find an artiste with good lyrical content and their songs In the top 10 or even top 20 to say the least on the Nigeria Apple Music Charts, Artistes like Brymo, Asa, Johnny Drille, Lady Donli, Bez, Timi Dakolo, and Darey Art Alade don’t appear on the chart with their songs with good lyrical content written all over it, Most of their songs even struggle to be in the top 40 charts and yet Nigerians drag the artistes that knows the Nigeria market and what Nigerians want every day for singing songs with below par lyrics…
I was even surprised when I was checking my Twitter page on a certain day and I found Johnny Drille tweeting about being happy about his song, the one with Don Jazzy getting in the top 40 Nigerian Apple Music chart which I find weird…
In my opinion, this only proves one thing,
1) Cautious and lyrically wise music won’t get you anywhere in Nigeria and if it could then not somewhere far. Judging by how far and or how successful the artistes who were and are cautious about the kind of lyrics they put out to their fans go … Nigerians are jolly and merry people, so they want to have fun and only few people of them have the time for lyrics.
To back up my fact, I checked Nigeria's top twenty (20) Apple Music chart lately and below is the attachment of what I found on the chart. Top 20.

SavageBoy: It's no longer the police that are assaulting civilians, it's now civilians assaulting police officers. Police sef don learn the act of video recording.
They reason; if civilians use video evidence against us, why can't we also use it against them?
What actually transpired that made the woman react like that? Why is nobody asking why the police officer said he will shoot the woman? since when do we start asking what transpired? If it was a policeman that was filmed physically assaulting a civilian would you have asked what transpired between them? she was filmed assaulting a policeman, get her arrested and arraigned, case closed. |

ecolime: Our Police have started videoing all incidence of assault on their personnel. Payback time
But who else noticed they only record the reaction of the civilians? Their recordings are always done half way.
They never record the Provocations or what the officers did that led to such arguments or assaults.
Only God knows the kain slap wey dem don wire the woman inside her car before coming out to pose for the camera.
My advise: Lets be calm in our conversations with them always. Don't let a crooked officer use you earn undue work promotion and awards. Be wise. who asked the civilians not to make their own recordings? You ever see a civilian record where he/she physically assault a policeman? |
Crime › Re: Woman Assaults Police Officer In Lagos, Police PRO Reacts by Ungodly: 10:33am On Sep 12, 2022 |
Babatunjo: We must distinguish between a misdemeanor and a criminal act. The police PRO, in my own opinion is a hypocrite.
An unarmed citizen was physically and verbally threatened with being killed by the gun of a Nigerian police and she reacted emotionally.
The woman's lawyer should advise her to claim "temporary insanity" that was caused by the psychological threat of the unprofessional policeman and also counter sue to police for inflicting violent verbal threat and severe emotional trauma on this female Nigerian citizen.
They should also make sure the trial is well publicised in both social and traditional media.
The Police PRO is a hypocrite at the end of the day, we are our problems in this country… small thing people will be jumping in defense of the people against the police even when they know it’s the person’s fault… and we want a better Nigeria. There was no physical altercation from the police in the said video but somehow y’all still find a way to fault the police man lmao… last last you will be the one to be arraigned and sentenced if you let your emotions lead you to physically abusing someone… |
